Van Persie swings in a corner and the Shakhtar keeper punches the ball for no discernible reason, though the danger is cleared. We'll have two minutes of injury time.
89'
F. Ferreyra enters the game and replaces Luiz Adriano.
88'
Two minutes left now, and United are sensing they can nick this one one the break. Shakhtar make a double change to try and win it.
85'
Great stop by De Gea! Adriano holds the ball up and can't force a way through, so he sets up Srna on the wing, who slams a ball across goal. The ball hits Smalling and skips up, and the keeper has to be alert to tip the ball over the bar from close range.
84'
Ilsinho enters the game and replaces Fernando.
82'
It's all getting a bit ragged as United plunge after the ball to try and stop Shakhtar from making headway, with Rafael the latest to give away a free kick. The visitors are defending very deep now.
79'
Can United hold on for a point now? The momentum is definitely with Shakhtar and the crowd is making so much noise - I think David Moyes would settle for the draw at this rate.
76'
Taison has scored a goal for Shakhtar Donetsk!
TAISON LEVELS IT UP!!! The hosts probably deserve that goal as the Brazilian finishes with aplomb high into De Gea's net from 10 yards as United fail to clear a cross from the left wing. An unstoppable strike, and the hosts could win this one now.

Description
72'
Less than 20 minutes remaining and Shakhtar are yet to make a substitution - it's surprising considering the hosts have failed to really trouble United in the second half.
69'
So close for Van Persie here as he waits for a Rafael cut-back to fall onto his left foot before shooting low back across goal to the bottom let-hand corner of the net - but Rakitskyy makes a vital block to prevent a second killer goal.
66'
R. Giggs enters the game and replaces M. Fellaini.
65'
Fellaini is off, and Ryan Giggs makes his 145th apearance in the Champions League - beating Raul's record to become the all-time leader in the appearance rankings. What a night for the Welshman.
64'
N. Vidić gets yellow.
63'
Now Vidic picks up a booking for dragging down Douglas Costa after the midfielder wriggles away from him. A clumsy one, that - and Shakhtar have a free kick in a great position 25 yards out...
61'
M. Fellaini gets yellow.
Fellaini is a little unlucky to be booked here as it looks as though Valencia is the guilty party with an initial sliding tackle on a Shakhtar player, but the Belgian has given away three or four fouls tonight - the yellow card was inevitable.
59'
United fans may even afford themselves a little chuckle right now, as rivals Manchester City have just gone 3-0 down at home to Champions League holders Bayern Munich. That said, there's over 30 minutes left here tonight.
56'
Great work by Vidic again as he gets out quickly to block the ball away before Adriano can get a shot away from 14 yards. The centre-back is having a stormer tonight.
54'
Anders Lindegaard is warming up after De Gea took that knock, but the Spaniard should be fine to continue. Not yet Anders, not yet...
52'
Shakhtar are pressing United much higher up the pitch in this second half and are having more joy in retaining possession - and almost level things with Shevchuk's teasing ball from the left being bravely claimed by De Gea, who takes a whack in the process. Great goalkeeping.
50'
Smalling gives away a soft free kick 35 yards from goal and Rakytskyy lines up a blast from distance...but it sails wide of the goal. Not a bad effort, just not right this time.
48'
Shakhtar are back on United's case, but Vidic has shut down two moves in quick succession. Top work from the Serbian.
46'
Ooh, Van Persie is so close to a tap-in here as Pyatov takes a chance passing the ball across the face of his goal with the Dutchman lurking. The striker lunges a toe at it but can't connect - risky business.
45'
We're back underway at the Donbass Arena - how will United shape up to defend this lead for 45 minutes? Knowing Moyes it may very well be a case of caution then countering.
43'
Smalling almost gets caught here at the back with Adriano lurking as he leaves the ball, but De Gea gathers it up. This has been a great half from United, and it'd be a disaster to concede a soft goal late on.
41'
Just a few minutes until half-time now, and the home crowd are in fine voice again despite trailing 1-0. How they'd love an equaliser before the whistle...
38'
Teixeira weaves his way to goal from the right and opens his body up to shoot, but his curled effort from 20 yards is far too weak and straight at De Gea - no problems there for the Spanish keeper. Disappointing from such a talented player.
37'
Van Persie shows his undoubted class by turning defenders inside out in the box before winning a corner. He fires it in, and United go close to a second as the ball glances across goal to the back post, but the visitors can't make the chance count in the end.
36'
Douglas Costa is scheming around the attacking midfield areas but is struggling to get into the game, as he's being crowded out at the earliest opportunities - really good defensive work from United.
33'
The hosts still press, and Fellaini gives away a free kick now for an apparent handball, despite it clearly hitting his chest. Shakhtar can't make United pay though, as once again their end product is disappointing.
30'
United's use of the ball and intercepting in midfield is quieiting the crowd down a little now, which is a big bonus playing in a ground like this. They're looking much more assured than in previous games this season.
28'
Tom Cleverley has had a good game so far for United - he's been quick to intercept Shakhtar moves and has been very competent in his distribution, giving United the composure they sorely lacked against West Brom.
26'
It's now the hosts who are doing all the pressing, but they're lacking quality in the final ball to really stretch United - Vidic and Smalling look comfortable dealing with the crosses at the moment.
23'
David Moyes will be pleased with proceedings so far - Shakhtar have looked sharp, but United are confident in possession and are a goal to the good. A textbook European performance from United so far...
20'
Shakhtar haven't been hit too hard by that United goal as they put the pressure on the left flank once more to win a corner. United only half-clear the ball before Teixeira wastefully blasts high over the bar from 20 yards.
18'
D. Welbeck has scored a goal for Manchester United!
WELBECK SCORES!!! It's a predatory finish from the United striker as Valencia and Fellaini combine on the right wing, with the Belgian holding the ball up and beating his man before firing in a low cross. A slip from a Shakhtar defender leaves the ball in no man's land on the edge of the six-yard line, and Welbeck pounces to finish low past Pyatov.
15'
Replays show Cleverley did catch Teixeira with a sliding tackle, but it's unclear whether it was a foul, or whether the Shakhtar player left out a leg to be caught. It could have gone either way to be honest.
13'
The hosts are looking dangerous now as Costa goes on a great run down the left wing, but can't find Adriano in the centre. Cleverley then catches Teixeira in the box from the following corner, but the referee waves away calls for a spot kick. Controversial...
10'
Shakhtar spark into life for the first time here as the hosts break forward in numbers, but Vidic and co. crowd them out in the United area. The ball falls to Srna on the right wing, but his cross is poor and evades his team mates.
8'
Van Persie goes close! The ball floats over the top and Van Persie finds himself in behind and onside. He controls, cuts back onto his left foot and tries to bend the ball in the top corner from 20 yards, but finishes well over the bar. He should do better from there, but it was good movement nonetheless.
7'
Patrice Evra - rested at the weekend - gets down the left wing well and crosses low, but the ball is cleared before it reaches Van Persie. United are seeing a lot of the ball early on, which will please Moyes.
4'
Van Persie stands over a corner now, but hois low curled cross is weak and cleared easily. The Dutchman's presence is a huge bonus with the in-form Rooney out injured once again.
3'
It's been a cautious start from both sides as they feel their way into the game, with United under little pressure in their own half. The Shakhtar fans are furiously whistling every time the visitors are on the ball though - the hostile atmosphere will be a test for the younger players.
1'
We're underway! A confident result would send out a message of intent from Moyes, who has made big changes to his side tonight - but another defeat would ensure more nightmare headlines though.
Good evening - I'm Tom J Doyle (@TomJDoyle), and welcome to the LIVE commentary of Shakhtar Donetsk vs Manchester United at the Donbass Arena. It's a big night for David Moyes, who is facing increasing scrutiny after a shock Premier League loss to West Brom on Sunday - and tonight won't exactly be a walk in the park...
Manchester United starting XI: De Gea; Rafael, Smalling, Vidic, Evra; Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Cleverley; Welbeck, Van Persie.
The big news for United is that Wayne Rooney misses out through injury, after failing to overcome a shin injury today, meaning the returning Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck will lead the line for the visitors.
There's a return for Rafael to the side, while Chris Smalling starts alongside Nemanja Vidic with Rio Ferdinand injured (or left at home, depending on your take on his form).
Teixeira will be a big threat for the hosts tonight - he nabbed both strikes in the 2-0 win against Real Sociedad two weeks ago, and will surely fancy his chances against a brittle United side of late.
The teams are out now, and the hosts greet both teams with a fantastic 'Donetsk' mural across the crowd. The 600 or so Manchester United fans are up in the heavens segregated away from the home fans - it may be a lonely night if Moyes' men keep up their recent form.
That's the interval, and David Moyes will be pleased with Manchester United's first-half display to lead 1-0 against Shakhtar Donetsk. They've been solid at the back in the face of sustained pressure, while Danny Welbeck took his chance really well to open the scoring. Nemanja Vidic and Tom Cleverley have impressed for the visitors, but Teixeira has a lot of time on the ball for the hosts, and will surely up his game int he second 45 minutes.
It'll be interesting to see if Mircea Lucescu changes things up from the restart - he says Moyes' early problems have been down to too much tinkering with his starting XI, so whether the Shakhtar boss puts faith in his own will be intriguing.
That's it! Shakhtar fought back and got the equaliser to deny Manchester United a valuable away win, though in truth a draw is probably a fair result. Moyes may be disappointed given that the Red Devils held on for a long time with little threat to Welbeck's opener, yet Taison's fine finish shares the spoils.
United now have four points from their opening two Champions League games, and while it's not perfect, it's certainly a lot better than their league form. Tougher fixtures await, but a battling draw in Donetsk is a good result at any stage of the season.
That's it from me - I've been Tom J Doyle, and thanks for joining us tonight. United depart Donetsk with a point, and David Moyes can maybe even afford to smile just a little. Bye for now.
