Acosta seemed to receive a whack to the leg as he battled for the ball, and it's left him in plenty of discomfort. With just a few seconds left to go, it looks as if the two sides are going to have to share the points.
90' +2
Space opens up for Zardes deep down the left wing. He gets the better of his marker and then fires a low cross into the Panama box, where Acosta tries to meet the ball but is beaten to it just as he's about to get a shot away.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
89'
It's the United States who are on the front foot as they desperately try to find what would surely be a winning goal. Panama look tired and seem content to hold on to what would be a well-deserved point, but the hosts are trying their hardest to spoil the party at the last minute.
87'
Panama are trying their hardest to get back into the game, but they're being put under a lot of pressure by the United States. An attempted attacking move comes to an end and allows Morris to charge down the left wing, but his cross into the box is poor and sails over the head of Dwyer.
85'
J. Morris enters the game and replaces A. Bedoya.
The United States have made their third and final alteration of the evening, with Jordan Morris coming on to replace Bedoya.
84'
Zardes cuts inside from the left flank and then swings a dangerous cross over towards the far post. Dwyer charges towards the ball and tries to get a head on it, but he's unable to do so and it sails behind for a goal-kick.
82'
Big call by the referee! Bedoya manages to squeeze his way into the right-hand side of the Panama penalty area before seemingly being shoved from behind by Ovalle, but the referee waves away the protests from the United States players and allows play to go on.
80'
Space opens up deep down the left wing and allows Arroyo to latch on to a through-ball in a promising position, but he carelessly strays into an offside position and the linesman's flag is quickly raised.
79'
Josiel Núñez enters the game and replaces G. Gómez.
Gabriel Gomez is the latest player to go down holding a part of his body, and he's replaced by Josiel Nunez for the final 10 minutes.

Description
77'
The United States patiently work the ball around deep inside the Panama half of the pitch before Villafana swings a cross into the box. It picks out Acosta but has slightly too much power behind it, meaning that his attempted header sails high and wide of the goal.
75'
An attempted United States attack fails to result in a chance on goal and allows Panama to break away on one of their own, but it quickly breaks down after they're comfortably outnumbered by the home side.
73'
Murillo is stretchered off the pitch, but it doesn't look as if he's going to be replaced just yet. The defender is receiving medical treatment whilst the game continues without him.
72'
Now Panama have been given something to think about after Murillo crashed to the ground holding his back. He seemed to receive a whack whilst battling with Zardes, and he certainly seems to be in a lot of discomfort.
71'
A. Cooper enters the game and replaces M. Camargo.
Armando Cooper comes on to replace Camargo, who takes his time as he strolls off the pitch.
70'
Lucky escape for McCarty! The United States midfielder has the ball stolen from under his nose by Torres and almost allows Panama to break away on a quick counter-attack, but the referee eventually awards a free-kick to the hosts, much to the annoyance of their opponents.
69'
G. Zardes enters the game and replaces K. Rowe.
Rowe is eventually forced off to be replaced by Gyasi Zardes.
68'
The United States bench looks concerned as they watch Rowe receive medical treatment inside the hosts' penalty area. He seemed to land slightly awkwardly and may have to make way if he can't make a quick recovery.
67'
McCarty dances his way forward and then pokes a deft pass over to Rowe on his left. The midfielder's cross into the Panama penalty area is overhit but still manages to pick out Bedoya, who unleashes a cross-cum-shot that fails to pick out a red and blue shirt and is instead easily cleared.
65'
Agudelo muscles his way into the Panama penalty area and this time is able to get a shot away of his own, but, once again, the visitors have plenty of bodies back to the deal with the danger.
64'
Agudelo gets involved in his first attacking move of the game before firing a cross into the Panama box. It deflects away from goal and back to Rowe, who shoots from the edge of the penalty area but has his effort charged down.
62'
What a chance for Panama to make it 2-1! Space opens up for the visitors as they fly forward on a quick counter-attack, but Torres decides to square the ball instead of shooting and can't pick out a team-mate in front of goal.
61'
J. Agudelo enters the game and replaces J. Corona.
The United States have made their first change of the game, with Juan Agudelo coming on to replace Corona.
60'
M. Camargo has scored a goal for Panama!
GOAL! Panama are back in the game! Barcenas causes more problems for the home side as he easily beats Rowe out wide. He cuts inside and fires a low cross into the middle of the box, setting up Torres to force Guzan into making another good save. The goalkeeper can only push the ball out to Camargo, however, and the New York City man is able to bury it into the back of the net.
59'
It's all Panama at the moment as they come back at the United States in waves. They've really impressed since going behind, with Barcenas looking particularly dangerous when cutting inside from out wide.
57'
A. Arroyo enters the game and replaces I. Díaz.
Panama have made their first substitution of the game, with Diaz making way to be replaced by Abdeil Arroyo.
56'
Panama are clearly fired up after going behind. This time it's Barcenas who flies forward before getting a shot away, but his low effort trundles a few yards wide of the far post and behind for a goal-kick.
54'
What a miss by Diaz! A beautiful curling cross sails into the heart of the United States penalty area and on to the head of Torres. The striker rises high and forces Guzan into making a brilliant diving save, and Diaz then somehow manages to blast the ball over the top of the crossbar from a few yards out. He really should have buried that!
52'
Camargo almost fires Panama back into the game! He cuts inside from the restart and then unleashes a rocket of a strike from 20 yards out, but there's slightly too much power behind the shot and it clears the top of the crossbar by a few yards.
50'
D. Dwyer has scored a goal for United States! Assist by K. Rowe.
GOAL! The United States have taken the lead! Rowe easily gets the better of Murillo deep down the left flank before firing a low cross into the penalty area. It should be dealt with by Panama but instead picks out Dwyer, who spins and blasts a low strike into the right-hand corner of the net.
Rowe did really well in the build-up, but Panama will be frustrated with their defending. They didn't do enough to close down the midfielder, whose cross into the box found Dwyer far too easily.
49'
Camargo embarks on an excellent run through the middle of the pitch as he flies forward on a quick counter-attack. He charges towards the hosts' box and then sets himself up to shoot, but Acosta is there to dispossess him from behind with a well-timed tackle.
47'
Vital interception by Villafana! Diaz and Camargo link up really well over on the left-hand side of the United States penalty area before the latter fizzes a pass across the face of goal. It looks set to find Barcenas at the far post, but Villafana is just about able to get a foot on the ball to make sure it doesn't.
46'
We're underway once again!
45' +4
Excellent opportunity for Diaz! More sloppy play by the United States at the death sets up Diaz to shoot from just outside of the penalty area, but his low effort misses the near post by the narrowest of margins.
45' +3
Acosta falls asleep on the ball and allows Panama to push forward on one final attack of the first half, but Murrilo can't make it count and his low cross in from the right is easily dealt with by the United States.
45' +1
Acosta goes close! Bedoya cuts in from the right wing and fires a looping cross over to the edge of the penalty area. Dwyer meets it well and knocks the ball down to Acosta, who quickly unleashes a first-time strike that bounces just wide of the near post.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
44'
Sloppy play by Panama allows the United States to hit their opponents on another quick counter-attack, but this time it's Dwyer who's knocked off the ball before he can reach the penalty area, bringing an end to another promising attacking move.
43'
Villafana causes problems over on the left flank once again before winning another free-kick for the United States. The cross into the box isn't a good one, though, and it's easily dealt with by Panama.
41'
Space opens up for the home side as they burst forward on a quick counter-attack. Joe Corona sprints through the middle of the pitch as he heads towards the Panama box, but just as he's about to tee up Bedoya, he's dispossessed from behind by an excellent last-ditch tackle.
40'
Camargo is left in a pocket of space out wide and manages to blast a low cross into the heart of the United States penalty area, but Guzan is there to cut out the danger before the ball can reach a white shirt.
38'
After a lengthy period on the back foot, Panama are able to patiently push forward as they move the ball from one flank to the other. Anibal Godoy eventually tries to skip past McCarty, but the United States midfielder pushes him to the ground and concedes a free-kick.
36'
Camargo barges Villafana to the ground over on the left wing and gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position. It's fired in by Acosta and heads towards the head of Dwyer, but Calderon is there to punch the ball away with a strong fist.
34'
Chance for Dwyer! The United States cause plenty of problems for Panama once again and this time Dwyer is presented with an opportunity to shoot, but an outstretched leg sends the ball behind for a corner.
33'
Another good run by Bedoya sets up the captain to fire a low cross into a dangerous place inside the Panama penalty area. Dwyer darts forward and tries to meet the ball, but he's flagged offside just as Jan Vargos beats him to it.
31'
The game gets underway once again with a Panama throw-in, but it fails to result in a chance on goal for the visitors as Dax McCarty is there to blast the ball away from danger and out of play once again.
29'
The two sets of players quickly make their way off the pitch for a water break. It's currently around 30 degrees celsius in Nashville, which could end up having an impact on the game as it progresses.
27'
Great save by Brad Guzan! After dealing with the danger, Panama immediately charge forward through Camargo. The winger cuts inside from the left wing and heads towards the edge of the box before shooting, but Guzan is there to tip the 20-yard effort round the far post with a fingertip stop.
26'
Big chance for Rowe! Acosta gets the better of two players just outside of the Panama penalty area before teeing up Rowe, who is in a pocket of space on the edge of the box. He takes a quick touch and then shoots, but the strike is sent straight at Calderon.
25'
Patient build-up play by the United States ends with Bedoya, who pokes a deft through-ball past Ovalle and into the path of Zusi. The full-back darts down the right wing to try and meet the ball, but, despite his best efforts, he's unable to keep it in play.
23'
Michael Murrilo gets himself into a good position deep down the right flank before firing a half-volleyed cross into the United States box. It's completely overhit, though, and Torres can only watch the ball sail high over his head.
21'
Torres goes down inside the box, but nothing is given! A lovely through-ball is poked into the heart of the United States penalty area and towards Torres, who is barged to the ground by Omar Gonzalez as they battle for the ball. The Panama players half-heartedly appeal for a penalty, but the referee just shrugs and allows play to continue.
19'
The second corner is swung towards the near post and pinballs dangerously around the Panama penalty area, but the visitors are just about able to deal with the danger before Bedoya can get a shot away.
18'
The United States push forward once again and do well to win themselves a corner over on the left flank. It's sent short before Acosta rifles a cross-cum-shot towards the near post, where Calderon is just about able to push the ball behind for another corner.
16'
Graham Zusi is tripped over on the right wing, resulting in a free-kick for the United States in a promising position. It's well dealt with by Panama, however, and results in a quick counter-attack, but Zusi is there to beat Gabriel Torres deep inside the home side's half of the pitch.
14'
Diaz and Barcenas link up well once again over on the right flank before the latter tries to get the better of Jorge Villafana, but he loses his footing at the last moment and can't find a way past the left-back.
12'
Panama soak up the pressure well before quickly trying to embark on a counter-attack. They initially work the ball around well but Diaz brings a promising move to a disappointing end with a misplaced pass that bounces out for a throw-in.
10'
Luis Ovalle slips over on the left flank and allows Alejandro Bedoya to sprint into the right-hand side of the Panama box. The captain then tries to pick out Dwyer, but, once again, Chen is there to poke the ball behind for a corner.
8'
Diaz and Edgar Barcenas exchange a series of lovely passes between themselves as they dance their way towards the United States penalty area. The latter then drifts out wide and fires a low cross towards the near post, but Matt Besler is there to deal with the danger.
7'
Ismael Diaz is left in a pocket of space 25 yards away from goal and is able to unleash Panama's first shot of the game, but there's slightly too much power behind his strike and it sails comfortably over the top of the crossbar.
6'
Vital interception by Roberto Chen! Kellyn Acosta quickly wins possession back for the home side before chipping a delightful ball into the box, where it looks set to reach Dom Dwyer but is cut out by the high boot of Chen.
5'
Chance for Kelyn Rowe! The United States move the ball around well as they push forward on their first attack of the game. Rowe cuts inside from the left flank and carves out a bit of space for himself before shooting, but his thumping, 20-yard strike is punched away by Jose Calderon.
3'
Panama enjoy a good start to the game as they put plenty of pressure on the United States early on. A lovely lofted pass is then thumped into the hosts' penalty area and towards Miguel Camargo, but his first touch lets him down and sends the ball rolling into the hands of Brad Guzan.
1'
We're off! Panama get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Gold Cup group stage game between the United States and Panama at the Nissan Stadium.
As is the case whenever the Gold Cup arrives in town, the United States head into this summer’s competition as joint-favourites with Mexico to leave with another crown. Since it was first held in 1991, the duo have won 12 of the 13 finals, with Mexico the most recent recipients of the trophy after the United States returned to winning ways four years ago.
That success in 2013 came thanks to a 1-0 win against today's opponents, who surprised everyone by reaching the final after seeing off Mexico in the semi-finals. Panama got the better of the United States at the last tournament to finish in third place, and they’ll be aiming to hand the hosts another tough game in what should be a fascinating opening encounter.
2013 saw the United States win the Gold Cup for the first time since 2007, with Mexico winning at each of the other three editions. Bruce Arena has done a decent job at steadying the ship after taking over from Jurgen Klinsmann last December, and his side seem to be on course for a place at next year’s World Cup thanks to a positive run of form.
However, they’ll be well aware that Panama sit just one point behind them in the qualifying group, and the minnows have proven to be tricky customers in recent years. All of the last three meetings between the two teams have ended in 1-1 draws, with one of those seeing Los Canaleros win on penalties. The Central American side have finished in the top three at the last three consecutive Gold Cups, and they’ll be looking to do the same this year.
Panama XI (4-4-2): Calderon; Murillo, Vargas, Chen, Ovalle; Barcenas, Gomez, Godoy, Camargo; Torres, Diaz.
Meanwhile, Panama boss Hernan Dario Gomez has made seven alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Jaime Penedo, Roman Torres, Fidel Escobar, Eric Davis, Armando Cooper, Alberto Quintero and Blas Perez making way for Jose Calderon, Jan Vargas, Luis Ovalle, Roberto Chen, Miguel Camargo, Gabriel Gomez and Ismael Diaz.
There’s just over 30 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
United States substitutes: Morrow, Miazga, Pontius, Morris, Zardes, Hamid, Lichaj, Roldan, Agudelo, Arriola, Hedges, Johnson.
United States XI (4-2-3-1): Guzan; Zusi, Besler, Gonzalez, Villafana; McCarty, Acosta; Rowe, Corona, Bedoya; Dwyer.
Bruce Arena has decided to make two changes to the United States side that started the friendly victory against Ghana last weekend, with Omar Gonzalez and Alejandro Bedoya coming into the starting line-up to replace Matt Hedges and Paul Arriola, respectively.
HALF-TIME: UNITED STATES 0-0 PANAMA
The United States have been on the front foot for most of the game so far, but Panama will be pleased with how they've been able to contained them. Bar a few half-chances, the home side haven't given Calderon too much to think about, and that's largely been down to Vargas and Chen managing to keep Dwyer quiet. At the other end, Diaz has impressed when in possession, and he certainly looks to be Panama's most dangerous attacking threat.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: UNITED STATES 1-1 PANAMA
For the fourth time in a row, a game between these two sides has ended 1-1 after 90 minutes. It's arguably a fair result, as both teams enjoyed themselves in front of goal but couldn't quite do enough to find that all-important second goal. The United States looked the better of the two towards the end, however, and they really should have grabbed all three points at the death.
The United States' second group stage game sees them take on Martinique in Florida, whilst Panama, who will be happy with today's result, must face Nicaragua in a game that they'll feel confident about winning.
