AND THERE IS THE FINAL WHISTLE!! It's all over at the Bernabeu!
90' +2
L. Modrić gets yellow.
90' +1
And now Modric has been booked by Sven Moen! For not retreating quickly enough after Gala had won a different free kick inside the centre circle.
90'
Sergio Ramos gets yellow.
Eboue falls to the floor after cutting in from the right, and the referee awards Gala a free kick. Ramos is shown a yellow card for the foul, which means he misses the second leg in Turkey. Mourinho up to his old tricks by getting a suspension out of the way early, perhaps?
88'
Modric is caught by Umut Bulut on the halfway line, just as the Croatian midfielder looked set to release a pass forward to Higuain.
87'
The game is petering out slightly as we head into the last few minutes. Galatasaray's players look exhausted, particularly the midfield pair of Inan and Melo.
86'
Pepe enters the game and replaces Á. Di María.
Mourinho uses up some of the clock by making his final change as Pepe comes on for Di Maria.
84'
M. Essien gets yellow.
Xabi Alonso gets yellow.
Di Maria tries to find Ronaldo with an arcing pass from the centre circle but Kaya is alert to the danger and positions himself well to beat his opponent in the air and nod the ball up field.
83'
N. Amrabat enters the game and replaces Albert Riera.
Nourredine Amrabat replaces Riera for the visitors, with under 10 minutes left to play.
82'
STAT: There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 12 of Madrid's last 14 games in the Champions League (including qualifiers).

Description
80'
L. Modrić enters the game and replaces M. Özil.
HOPEFUL FROM INAN!! The Gala midfielder sends a speculative shot at goal from 30 yards that is gathered calmly by Lopez.
79'
And here's another substitution from Madrid. Ozil, who has been fantastic tonight, is replaced by Luka Modric. The German is given a rousing standing ovation by the Bernabeu as he leaves the field.
78'
U. Bulut enters the game and replaces Hamit Altıntop.
B. Yılmaz gets yellow.
That booking means Yilmaz, Gala's top scorer in the competition with eight goals, will be suspended for the return leg in Istanbul.
77'
HOW IS THAT A YELLOW CARD FOR YILMAZ? The Galatasaray forward goes down in the Madrid box after being caught by Ramos, but is booked for simulation by the referee. That was a terrible decision.
76'
Eboue is not a defender. There. I said it. The former Arsenal man has been all over the shop tonight defensively. After failing to challenge Benzema when he scored before the break he has just again lost his man. Fortunately for him the ball bounced awkwardly as it reached Ronaldo, which made it difficult for him to get a shot on target.
74'
D. Drogba gets yellow.
Higuain enjoyed that one!! He went sprinting over to celebrate with Pepe on the bench after executing a textbook Klinsmann dive in front of the Madrid fans.
73'
G. Higuaín has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Xabi Alonso.
HIGUAIN ADDS A THIRD FOR MADRID!! The Liga giants increase their lead courtesy of a composed header from their substitute Higuain. The former River Plate forward got ahead of Nounkeu to meet Alonso's devilish free kick and flick the ball past Muslera.
72'
Alonso curls the free kick towards Varane on the penalty spot but he appears to be impeded by his own player as he collides with Ramos while jumping for the ball.
71'
Felipe Melo gets yellow.
Another chance for Madrid to test Muslera...
70'
Ozil goes down under a challenge from Inan on the right, and Melo gets a yellow card for it. I'm not sure where the referee has got that from! They do not look remotely similar.
69'
The away side clear the free kick well though, but when they try and launch a counter attack through Yilmaz it immediately breaks down. The Turkish forward is not the quickest striker about, but he certainly wasn't helped by the fact none of his team-mates were anywhere near him!
68'
Madrid have a free kick over on the right, midway inside the Gala half...
67'
STAT: Madrid are undefeated in 30 of their last 33 matches in the Champions League (including qualifiers).
65'
G. Higuaín enters the game and replaces K. Benzema.
The 35-year-old Drogba bursts (yeh, really) down the right and swings a cross into a dangerous area, but Varane is able to get to the ball ahead of Yilmaz and flick it away.
64'
Di Maria hurtles into Eboue, which gives Mourinho the chance to make the switch. Benzema is the man replaced by Higuain.
63'
Madrid look set to make a change here with just under half an hour left on the clock. Gonzalo Higuain is warming up on the sidelines for the home side.
62'
DREAMY FROM ALONSO!! The midfield maestro demonstrates his fine passing ability by picking out Di Maria with a dinked ball from the centre of the pitch. The Argentine controls the ball well inside the box but his shot at goal is weak and straight at Muslera.
60'
PASS-PASS-PASS-PASS... It's been very equal in terms of passes completed in the opening hour here. Real Madrid 326-331 Galatasaray.
59'
That's late from Melo on Alonso! The Spanish international is barged to the floor a full second after releasing a pass to Ronaldo. Unsurprisingly he looks fairly put out by that tackle from Melo!
57'
Good tackle from Zan! The substitute has slotted into a three-man central defence for the visitors, with Riera and Eboue now acting as wing-backs. As Benzema tried to turn and run at goal, Zan allowed the Madrid striker no space and put in a firm challenge to win the ball.
56'
Madrid break quickly down the right through Essien but his attempted cross is a far cry from the one that set up Benzema for los Blancos' second, as the ball flies high into the stands behind Muslera's goal.
55'
Nounkeu eases Ronaldo off the ball inside the Gala box! The Madrid forward looked to be clean through on goal there!
53'
Gala switch the ball neatly out to Eboue on the right after some decent interplay between Yilmaz and Drogba but they are unable to then work the ball into the box as Ramos nips across to steal possession.
51'
Di Maria crumples to the floor under a robust tackle from Nounkeu but the referee again ignores the Argentine's suggestions that it was a foul. Di Maria is not getting anything from Sven Moen tonight!
50'
That's poor from Coentrao! The Madrid full-back has an age to pick his pass to Ronaldo but he waits a second too long and when he finally does release the ball his team-mate has strayed into an offside position .
49'
Nounkeu has got to be careful in this half! The Cameroonian centre-back was booked for a rash challenge on Benzema before the break and he has just caught the Frenchman again. The last thing Terim wants is for his side to have to play any of this tie with 10 men.
48'
Ronaldo wins a free kick early in the second period after being caught by the Gala substitute Zan. I imagine the man who was fouled will take this set piece himself...
Ronaldo does take it, but his fizzing strike clips the top of the wall and bounces away to safety. Muslera in the Gala goal breathes a sigh of relief!
47'
SURPRISE SUBSTITUTION: Gala have hauled Sneijder off at half-time and replaced him with Gokhan Zan.
46'
G. Zan enters the game and replaces W. Sneijder.
Madrid get the second half underway at the Bernabeu...
45' +1
Drogba brushes off a challenge from Ramos but Varane sprints across to cover his defensive partner and clear the ball away. Great play from the young Frenchman!
45'
Just the one minute of added time at the end of this first half...
44'
GOOD STRIKE FROM EBOUE!! The right-back forces Lopez into action with a firm drive from the right side of the penalty area. Madrid's goalkeeper does well to get down and parry the ball away from danger.
42'
STAT: Ronaldo has scored 106 goals in 94 appearances for Madrid at the Bernabeu.
41'
D. Nounkeu gets yellow.
RONALDO'S SHOT DIPS ONTO THE ROOF OF THE NET!! The Madrid man sends a swirling effort just over Muslera's crossbar! Nearly, nearly a third goal there.
40'
Khedira slips the ball through to Benzema but he is sent flying by a crunching challenge from Nounkeu as he tries to pass it on to Ronaldo. Madrid with a great chance to test Muslera from the set piece. I wonder who will take it.
38'
Kaya beats Ronaldo in the air as Madrid threaten to score a third before half-time! The Madeira-born forward was trying a very ambitious flicked volley there, and Gala's centre-back was having absolutely none of it as he came crashing in to win the ball.
37'
The away side have had more possession, and completed more passes, yet they trail 2-0. Madrid have certainly been clinical tonight!
36'
Riera steps on Benzema's toe and the Frenchman goes down as if he has been shot. Within seconds he is up on his feet and fine to continue...
34'
YILMAZ VOLLEYS WIDE!! Drogba barges his way past Ramos on the right and chips a cross back to Yilmaz on the penalty spot, but the man who has scored eight times already in this year's competition cannot direct his shot on target, and the ball flies wide of Lopez's goal.
33'
Gala clear a Madrid corner and try and launch a counter attack, but that is snuffed out by Alonso, who ambles across to the left to dispossess Altintop.
32'
STAT: These two sides met at the same stage in the competition back in 2001, with Real Madrid winning the game at the Bernabeu 3-0 to overturn a 3-2 home win from Galatasaray.
30'
Is there any way back into this game for Galatasaray? Let me know your thoughts in the comments box to the right, or on Twitter at @charliefscott.
29'
K. Benzema has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by M. Essien.
BENZEMA MAKES IT 2-0!! The France international controls a high cross from Essien brilliantly at the back post before calmly slotting a shot past Muslera at the near post. Madrid are in control here!
28'
Melo meets Inan's corner with a firm header, but it is blocked on its way to goal by Ramos and Madrid are able to clear.
27'
TOP DEFENDING FROM COENTRAO!! Eboue drives into the Madrid box on the right but his attempted cut-back is blocked out for a corner by Coentrao.
26'
LOPEZ PARRIES A SHOT FROM DROGBA!! The Madrid goalkeeper is forced to punch a Drogba effort out for a throw-in, after the ball appeared to swing in the air on its way to goal.
24'
Riera and Di Maria clash 30 yards from goal but the referee waves play on despite the Argentine's protests. The official's decision is met with jeers from the Madrid fans, they are not impressed by that.
23'
More good defending from Nounkeu! The centre-back stops Benzema in his tracks on the edge of the Gala box just as the Madrid striker looks set to shoot at goal. He timed his tackle to perfection there.
22'
STAT: Galatasaray have won 10 of their last 18 away outings in European competition, losing just two.
20'
Ozil catches Eboue with a stray boot to the face, which leads to a momentary break in play at the Bernabeu.
19'
OZIL FIRES STRAIGHT AT MUSLERA!! The Germany international lets the ball run across his body before hammering a shot at goal with his left foot, but the visitors' Uruguayan goalkeeper is well-positioned and able to gather the ball comfortably.
18'
Essien tries to thread a pass through to Benzema from the right, but for the second time this evening Nounkeu reads the play and stops a certain goalscoring opportunity.
17'
Sloppy from Sneijder! The Dutchman runs the ball out of play on the left and Madrid are gifted a throw-in.
16'
Former Real Madrid man Wesley Sneijder is the latest Gala player to fire a shot at goal from long-range. Like Drogba and Melo before him though, his effort is off target.
15'
Di Maria is enjoying all sorts of room in this game. Gala are struggling to deal with his pace and movement as he buzzes around their penalty area.
14'
Ronaldo teases Melo on the left with some neat footwork before lifting a cross towards Benzema, but Muslera is alert to the danger and grabs the ball before the Madrid striker can meet the pass.
13'
STAT: Galatasaray have now conceded 200 European Cup goals.
12'
CHANCE FOR DROGBA!! The Ivorian receives a pass with his back to goal on the edge of the Madrid box, quickly turns, and then lashes a venemous left foot shot a yard over. Warning signs for Madrid there.
11'
As soon as that pass found Ronaldo you just knew he was going to score. His finish was so confident too!
9'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by M. Özil.
GOALLLLL!!! RONALDO GIVES MADRID THE LEAD!!! Los Blancos' Portuguese talisman lifts a sublime finish over Muslera and into the far corner to make it 1-0 after being played through by a sumptuous pass from Mezut Ozil. What a start for the home side!
8'
Hamit Altintop sends an inviting cross into the Madrid box from the right, but Didier Drogba is on a different wavelength from his Turkish team-mate, as Raphael Varane is able to nod the ball up field.
7'
Benzema nicks the ball from Semih Kaya on the edge of the Gala box as the centre-back tries to poke the ball back to his goalkeeper, but he cannot pick out a team-mate as a swarm of red shirts surround him on the left-hand side.
6'
Essien does well to keep the ball in play on the right after Di Maria was dispossessed by Albert Riera. The Ghana international's pass to Cristiano Ronaldo is off target though, and Dany Nounkeu is able to intercept it and clear the ball away.
5'
STAT: Madrid are on a 37-match unbeaten run at the Santiago Bernabeu in all competitions, stretching back to January 2012 (W30, D7).
4'
Emmanuel Eboue drives down the right for Galatasaray before cutting the ball back to Felipe Melo, who hammers a speculative effort at goal from distance that goes high and wide. Ambitious from the Brazilian!
3'
FABULOUS PASS FROM ALONSO!! The Madrid midfielder picks out Di Maria with a marvellous lofted ball out to the right. The Argentine cuts back on to his let before dinking a cross towards Karim Benzema, but the France striker's header drifts just over the crossbar.
2'
Madrid steal the ball after pressing high up the pitch, and are able to carve out the first shooting opportunity of the game. Angel Di Maria picks the ball up 25 yards from goal, just left of centre, but his rising effort is deflected out for a throw on the left-hand side.
1'
We are off! Gala get the ball moving at the Bernabeu...
Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE coverage of the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the majestic Santiago Bernabeu. Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid side host Galatasaray tonight, in a game that pits the two leading scorers in the competition, Cristiano Ronaldo and Burak Yilmaz, against one another.
It also means there is a reunion between Mourinho and Gala's recent signing, Didier Drogba. The two of course enjoyed a fruitful spell at Chelsea together. It will be interesting to see how the Ivorian striker fares against los Blancos in such a high-profile game.
My name is Charlie Scott, and I'll be guiding you through the match as it unfolds over in the Spanish capital. As always you can have your say on the game at any point, by posting in the comments box on the right, or by tweeting me @charliefscott.
Mourinho rested players in Madrid's last Liga game, as they drew 1-1 with Zaragoza. Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Mezut Ozil and Angel Di Maria were all left out of the starting XI for that match. The result will not have pleased the Portuguese supremo, but it does mean he goes into this tie with a fresh squad.
Gala on the other hand are dealing with a few missing men at the moment, as Tomas Ujfalusi, Engin Baytar and Johan Elmander are all ruled out through suspension or injury.
However, the Turkish giants are boosted by the eligibility of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder, both of whom joined the club in the January transfer window. Not bad business there from Fatih Terim!
Without further ado, let's get stuck in to some team news...
Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Lopez; Essien, Ramos, Varane, Coentrao; Khedira, Alonso; Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo; Benzema
Subs: Iscan, Zan, Balta, Sarioglu, Kurtulus, Amrabat, Bulut
How about that then! Madrid start Michael Essien over Alvaro Arbeloa at right-back. I did not see that one coming. The former Chelsea man gets the nod ahead of the Spain international, while Karim Benzema is preferred to Gonzalo Higuain in attack. Let me know your thoughts on Mourinho's meddling by posting in the comments box to the right of this commentary.
THERE ARE A LOT OF GALATASARAY FANS AT THE BERNABEU!! Terim's side have got thousands of supporters cheering them on in Madrid! The atmosphere tonight should be electric.
And there's that fantastic Champions League theme tune. What a track that is.
Drogba and Essien exchange a hug as the two teams shake hands. The pair played alongside each other for many years under Mourinho's tutelage at Chelsea. Just seconds until kick-off over in Spain...
HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 2-0 GALATASARAY Mourinho's men go in at the break two goals to the good thanks to clinical finishes from Ronaldo and Benzema. The Spanish giants have eased into a comfortable lead without having to push themselves much, as Gala have been restricted to long-range efforts at goal. The visitors will need to get Sneijder into the game more if they wish to keep the tie alive ahead of the second leg in Istanbul, with the former Champions League winner having been quiet so far this evening.
Who was your player of the half? Send your answers to me in the comments box on the right, or on Twitter at @charliefscott.
Good point from Amer Hodzic: "Burak Yilmaz has been invisible". Can't argue with that, although he hasn't exactly been given the ball a lot by his team-mates. The one half-chance he had in the half, he snatched at and hit wide after being set up by Drogba.
FULL-TIME: REAL MADRID 3-0 GALATASARAY Mourinho and his side take a comfortable three-goal lead into the second leg next week thanks to well-taken finishes from their attacking trio of Ronaldo, Benzema and Higuain. Los Blancos now have one foot in the semi-finals and their hopes of la Decima are enhanced following a confident showing this evening in front of their own fans.
It was supposed to be an explosive reunion between Mourinho and some of his old flames, but both Drogba and Sneijder failed to have much of an impact for the visitors tonight. Sneijder, in particular, looked a shadow of his former self, and he was hauled off at half-time by Fatih Terim.
That's all from me for this evening guys and girls. Thank you very much for joining me! Good night!
