Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry are the only players in the Arsenal team to retain their position in Arsene Wenger's squad from the weekend's win over Stoke City. Nicklas Bendtner returns from his Gunners exile to make his first appearance for the club in two years. The last time he played at the Hawthorns, he scored in a 3-1 win.
Both Arsenal and West Brom have huffed and puffed in the first 45 but there has been hardly any clear chances for either side. Steven Reid's whipping free kick was as close as anything as both sides failed to find a clinical edge in the final third. The Gunners' attack seems to be lacking familiarity following Arsene Wenger's rotatation.
Arsenal were knocked out in the quarter-final stage of this competiton via penalties last season. But they haven't been knocked before the fourth round for 11 years.
The travelling Arsenal fans are giving the Gunners players some voal support. The away end hasn't stopped singing since the final whistle blew at the end of extra-time.
