We're into the final minute of normal time, and I doubt that the referee will add much onto the game, this match belongs to Dortmund. Their fans are predictably overjoyed with a comfortable derby victory, as the yellow hordes wave goodbye to those Schalke fans who have seen enough.
89'
J. Hofmann enters the game and replaces M. Reus.
88'
Weidenfeller is called into action again, this time to collect a bouncing delivery from the heads of the lurking Draxler and Szalai. It really hasn't been the Hungarian's afternoon, he's been quite anonymous.
87'
DRAXLER! The youngster is found by Neustadter on the left, before he utilises a step-over to carve a bit of space for himself. His near post effort is beaten away firmly by Weidenfeller!
86'
Reus whips in a corner delivery, and Hildebrand claims under no pressure. The 34-year-old has probably been Schalke's best player, making a number of useful saves to keep his side in with a shout of picking up some points - until Kuba converted.
85'
In terms of repercussions on the league table, if Bayern beat Hertha Berlin, Dortmund won't be able to top the Bundesliga pile. Klopp's men are in a strong position however, while Schalke falter in a season in which they will probably do quite well.
83'
Aogo launches a ball forward, in search of anybody in a blue shirt, but no such player is forthcoming, allowing for Weidenfeller to collect the ball with consummate ease. He takes his time to get back to his feet, Dortmund are running the clock down deliberately now.
82'
C. Clemens enters the game and replaces K. Boateng.
81'
Ten minutes remaining, and this looks to be three points sewn up for Klopp's men. Schalke have had their moments, but for the most part, the Bundesliga's second-placed team have been imperious. Merely a case of seeing the game out now.
80'
Good interception from Howedes, who slides in to prevent the two Polish facets of Dortmund's attack from linking up. Lewandowski aims for Kuba at the back post, but good defending from the German thwarts them.
Minute
Description
78'
Schalke aren't playing with the tempo required to manipulate this Dortmund side, although the introduction of Meyer has added another dangerous element to the home side's front line. If Schalke can't manage to spray the ball around quickly, they simply won't create gaps to exploit.
77'
The game looks to be beyond Schalke now, as the yellow shirts of Dortmund begin to play with confidence once more. Just as Dortmund were beginning to get deeper and deeper, they've managed to break out, kill the game off and now are playing against opposition who probably don't believe they can turn this match around.
76'
J. Jones enters the game and replaces S. Kolašinac.
75'
Well, the momentum is certainly back in Dortmund's favour now. Just as Schalke looked to have their tails up, the away side have struck a suckerpunch, courtesy of an excellent counter attack led by Mkhitaryan.
74'
J. Błaszczykowski has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by H. Mkhitaryan.
GOOOOAL! BLASZCZYKOWSKI! 3-1 TO DORTMUND! Another substitute manages to convert within moments of taking to the field! The Poland international is found in plenty of space on the right, following excellent running from the tireless Mkhitaryan, and places the ball beyond Hildebrand!
73'
Around 20 minutes left on the clock, and Dortmund are labouring a little here. They don't look as fresh, are getting deeper and more compact, allowing for the hosts to enjoy much more success. Perhaps their running against Arsenal is finally taking its toll.
71'
J. Błaszczykowski enters the game and replaces P. Aubameyang.
Klopp decides to replace his first goalscorer, pulling off Aubameyang in favour of the talismanic Blasczykowski, otherwise known as Kuba. He will offer more solidity down the right, and Aubameyang had faded a little in the second half.
70'
Vital interception from Howedes, as Mkhitaryan looked to slide Lewandowski in behind the Schalke defender. He times his sliding block to perfection, preventing the Poland international from having a one on one opportunity against Hildebrand.
69'
Keller has become far more animated since Meyer's goal, shouting out instructions from his technical area and waving his arms around like a man possessed. I think everybody in the stadium has a suspicion that Schalke are capable of levelling the score!
68'
Aubameyang is brought down by a thunderous challenge by Howedes, and the Gabon international taking a while to get back to his feet. Not what Dortmund's fans will want to see, but he's fine to continue.
67'
Uchida is heavily involved in a foray down the right, before the ball is fired harmlessly into the gloves of Weidenfeller by Meyer, the goalscorer. His teammates can have no complaints though, they've been dragged back into this game by his goal.
66'
Good clearance from Subotic! Boateng picked the ball up on the edge of the box and looked to slip it through quickly to Szalai, but the Serbian international clears. Schalke are growing in confidence and look to have the measure of Dortmund now.
65'
We have around half an hour left in this game, and that goal from Meyer has breathed new belief back into Schalke. Now Dortmund appear fallible, and finally one of their attacks has actually tested and then beaten Weidenfeller. This game could have a grandstand finish!
64'
Punched away by Hildebrand! An excellent free-kick delivery from Reus looked to find the head of Hummels, but the goalkeeper got there first! The ball is looped back in immediately, but again the 34-year-old claims over Hummels!
63'
Keller will be affording himself a wry smile, as his first substitution pays dividends immediately! The home fans are back in phenomenal voice, and there's a real tangible belief that Schalke can get back level!
62'
M. Meyer has scored a goal for Schalke 04!
GOOOOOOAL! MEYER! THE SUBSTITUTE SCORES! After a save from Hildebrand, the youngster manages to convert the rebound from a tight angle! Schalke are back in this now!
61'
M. Meyer enters the game and replaces C. Fuchs.
Keller makes his first change, opting for some more attacking ability as opposed to the solid presence of Fuchs. Meyer is young and exciting, keen to take on players, so he could be the man to test Dortmund.
60'
SUBOTIC! WHAT A CHALLENGE! Szalai is slipped in by Draxler, but the Serbia international slides in to deny the lone striker as he looked to pull the trigger! Great defending.
59'
Á. Szalai gets yellow.
58'
Durm goes on a marauding run down the left hand side, and that is what the youngster can offer, an overlapping outlet to go beyond Reus. He may not have the best scenario to attack in this afternoon, though, as Uchida is a tenacious adversary.
57'
Miscommunication between Lewandowski and Reus. The Polish striker slips the ball lightly in behind the Schalke back line, but his teammate was peeling off to look for a back post delivery. Lewandowski complains, but there's nothing they can do now.
56'
Good ball from Boateng! The Ghana international centres, and Draxler stretches to meet the delivery, but Hummels is able to clear! The first dangerous attack of the second half for Schalke!
54'
The away fans continue to chant and sing, with the home support going a little bit quiet. They're right to be deflated, Schalke need to wake up, it's as though they haven't come out for the second half.
53'
KOLASINAC! The holding midfielder tries his luck from range, but it is a terrible effort. He's wasted a few Schalke attacks now, it's certainly not been a vintage performance from him.
52'
It seems as though Dortmund have this game in a stranglehold now, with the two goal deficit looking like too much to ask of Schalke. Keller sits on the bench and sips a bottle of water composedly, things are looking to be out of his hands at this point.
51'
N. Şahin has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by H. Mkhitaryan.
WHAT A GOOOOAL! SAHIN CONVERTS! The Turkish midfielder picks out the top right hand corner, leaving Hildebrand with absolutely no chance whatsoever! Pick that out! 2-0 to Dortmund!
50'
Well, Fuchs is back on his feet and ready to continue, I don't think he'll be going anywhere near Subotic any time soon though! It was a ridiculously strong tackle.
49'
Some off the ball afters from Sahin and Aogo, as the Turkish midfielder squared up to the Schalke man, but the referee is quick to defuse the situation and calm the players down. Good refereeing.
48'
Fuchs is tackled strongly by Subotic, and the Austrian looks rather dazed, despite it being a fair challenge from the Serb! The physios are tending to him, and he looks in some discomfort.
47'
AUBAMEYANG! The pace from the Gabon international is utterly ridiculous, as he outpaces Matip, before going down in the penalty area! The referee waves away the decision, and that's the correct call.
46'
E. Durm enters the game and replaces M. Schmelzer.
We are back underway for the second 45 minutes, and there's certainly reason to believe that there will be some more goals in this game! Schalke's defensive record seems to suggest so!
45'
Schalke keep hold of the ball for at least 40 seconds, but fail to get anywhere with the ball whatsoever! Dortmund manage to get hold of the ball, go long to Aubameyang, but Hildebrand collects.
44'
NEUSTADTER! The defensive midfielder stoops to nod a corner delivery home, following a good ball in from Fuchs, but seems to lose his footing! A real opportunity!
43'
M. Schmelzer gets yellow.
A free-kick is floated in from deep for Schalke, and Weidenfeller punches the ball clear of the hand of Neustadter. It looked as though the German goalkeeper could claim, but he opted against it.
42'
A few minutes until the break, and a goal for Schalke now would be vital. Schmelzer probably knows this, and is booked for a push on Szalai as the Hungarian looked to break into space down the right hand side. A cynical foul.
41'
Schalke have their tails up a little bit, mind you, it's not total dominance for Dortmund. Weidenfeller has been untroubled, minus the penalty save, but the home side have enjoyed a lot of the ball. They're certainly not out of this game yet, that's for sure.
40'
Possession is traded between the two sides needlessly, with plenty of errors slipping into Schalke's game especially. The pressing of Dortmund is forcing the hosts to misplace a lot of balls, or give possession to an isolated outlet, which Dortmund can then easily surround and hound.
38'
Both managers are looking a little concerned at the moment, both rising from their benches to dish out some instructions. The game is worryingly open, it is hard to predict where the next goal will some from!
37'
AUBAMEYANG! Reus is found in between the lines, shifting the ball between his feet excellently, before slipping in Aubameyang! The Gabonese forward fails to even take the ball under control, and it rolls through to Hildebrand! Unlucky!
36'
MKHITARYAN! Terrific block from Howedes! The centre half slided in to meet an absolute rocket from the Armenian, who disregarded his options and decided to go for glory himself!
35'
D. Aogo gets yellow.
The referee isn't making himself popular with the home fans, opting to book Aogo for dissent after the young left-sided player disagreed with the referee's decision to not award Schalke a free-kick for a supposed foul on Uchida. This stadium is a cauldron of noise!
33'
Schalke are just starting to move the ball that little bit quicker, it is going to be the only way that the hosts can find some gaps in this organised Dortmund outfit. Despite the away side looking rather conservative, with plenty of men behind the ball, they can counter so unbelievably quickly.
32'
REUS! Hildebrand now makes a good save! The diminutive winger manages to get his hand on a delivery from the right hand side, but the 34-year-old is equal to it, palming it away from his top left hand corner!
31'
The home and away sides' support has been buoyed by that incident! Schalke's faithful perhaps now realise that Dortmund are fallible, while the visitors are still in awe of Weidefeller's contribution! Boateng shoots from range, and misses the target by quite some distance.
30'
Penalty saved by R. Weidenfeller!
SAVED! WEIDENFELLER SAVES! EXCELLENT GOALKEEPING! Boateng misses the spot kick, before failing to pick up the rebound. The Dortmund goalkeeper is a first half hero!
29'
PENALTY TO SCHALKE! Fuchs looks to be brought down by Subotic in the penalty area, but there didn't seem to be a lot of contact from the Serbian! No complaints though, and the home side have a lifeline!
28'
Dortmund are easily able to rotate and keep their shape, with Schalke failing to make any kind of quick transitions. Only Boateng and Draxler perhaps possess the confidence to release the ball quickly, and actually make ambitious passes. Without a bit of endeavour, Schalke will create nothing.
27'
Keller won't be encouraged by what his side have offered, as his side look rather panicked in possession and uncertain of how to bypass the organised yellow lines. The tempo is too slow for Schalke, Dortmund are looking comfortable.
26'
Constant pressing, mercilessly quick counter attacks and quality in the final third is making Dortmund look invincible this afternoon. Every attack is dangerous, and they can prey off the mistakes of Schalke.
25'
AUBAMEYANG! Hildebrand is forced into a save with his legs, as a flick from Mkhitaryan and then Reus finds the goalscorer! It's fair to say that the former St Etienne forward has been heavily involved thus far!
23'
If it hadn't been for Hildebrand's quick thinking, Schalke could easily have been two goals down inside 25 minutes. Keller's men could sink without trace if they aren't careful, Weidenfeller is yet to be truly tested in the Dortmund net.
22'
Excellent goalkeeping from Hildebrand! An incisive lofted ball forward finds the run of Reus in behind, with Matip and Howedes nowhere to be seen! Hildebrand races out, however, and kicks the ball into touch.
21'
AUBAMEYANG! The goalscorer tests Hildebrand with a back post header, after excellent hold up play from Lewandowski allowed for the Polish striker to release Schmelzer on the left. His cross found its target, but Aubameyang couldn't convert.
20'
Good defensive header from Howedes, after an arrowing delivery from the right hand side by Mkhitaryan made its way towards the penalty spot. The Armenian has been influential in the early stages, excellent on the ball and very positive.
18'
Uchida and the home fans behind Weidefeller's goal are unhappy with the linesman, as the Japanese full-back wants a corner after a challenge from Schmelzer ran out of play. The official didn't see the touch from the Dortmund left-back, however!
17'
Schalke aren't being given a moment to breathe at the moment, with constant harrying stifling the creative influences of Boateng and Draxler. The hosts have had more of the ball, but haven't been able to do anything constructive with it.
15'
Well, the home crowd have been silenced a little now! Schalke were entirely undone by some neat interplay, but Mkhitaryan managed to slip Reus in behind all too easily. Dortmund had both Lewandowski and their goalscorer queuing up on the edge of the six yard box. A lovely goal.
14'
P. Aubameyang has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by M. Reus.
GOOOOOOAL! AUBAMEYANG! The away end erupts, and that was a wonderful goal from Dortmund! Reus is released on the right hand side, following a lovely passage of play between Grosskreutz, Mkhitaryan and Reus! Reus centres, and the Gabon international taps home!
12'
Klopp is looking rather relaxed, considering he is sat in a cauldron of noise, and it's probably down to his side's encouraging start. I suspect Keller won't be as content, Schalke have failed to piece together many meaningful attacks.
11'
A vibrant start to the game, in terms of both atmosphere and action on the field! The fans are in continuous voice, with Dortmund looking extremely sharp going forward. Szalai has been anonymous so far.
10'
Neustadter goes down injured following a challenge with Mkhitaryan, but the bruising defensive midfielder will be fine to continue. He'll be having a tough afternoon, with Mkhitaryan presumably running in between the lines all game.
9'
REUS! The Germany international finds himself bearing down on goal, it looks as though he's going to bury his first opportunity, but he fires straight at Hildebrand! Poor effort!
8'
Well, we've seen what we normally expect from Dortmund already. The visitors are intercepting possession high up the field, and Reus and Aubameyang are always willing outlets to initiate quick transitions.
7'
CHANCE! Dortmund shift the ball to Aubameyang on the right hand side, but the Gabon international fails to cut the ball back accurately! Reus was unmarked at the back post, but Aubameyang played it in behind his waiting teammate!
6'
Fuchs earns some praise from his fans, following some silky footwork. He leaves Grosskreutz looking rather bamboozled, but the Dortmund utility man atones for his error and tackles the Austrian.
5'
A foul from Schmelzer gifts Schalke with a free-kick around 30 yards from goal, and it seems that Boateng has intentions to shoot from here. It's a poor effort though, and Dortmund's keeper is able to collect simply.
4'
DRAXLER! Half chance for the youngster, after Boateng wins the ball excellently in an advanced area of the field! He gets a shot away, but the contact is poor, allowing the ball to bobble through to Weidenfeller.
3'
Well, despite the few idiots amongst the masses who fired flares into the crowd, the Dortmund fans are in outstanding voice. A sea of yellow is packed tightly into the corner of the stadium, but the home fans aren't to be beaten - their curve is brilliant too.
2'
A composed start for the home side, as Schalke hold onto the ball in the inaugural minutes of the game, but it's clear from the off that Dortmund are prepared to press. How intense this pressing can be really depends on the fitness of both sides, following midweek European commitments.
1'
And we are off! The stadium is bouncing and this promises to have all of the makings of a great derby! Dortmund are in their customary yellow despite being the away side, with Schalke in their striking blue!
Hello and welcome to some of this afternoon's Bundesliga action, as Borussia Dortmund travel to Gelsenkirchen to face Schalke, with the visitors having useful momentum from a midweek Champions League victory.
I'm Simon Harrison, and I will be providing your updates for today's game, in what is a packed Veltins-Arena. The atmosphere is excellent, as can be expected, so let us hope that the action on the pitch will match the fans' efforts!
Both sides are boasting strong starting line-ups, so this game shouldn't disappoint as a spectacle. Felipe Santana starts on the bench against his former club, with Sokratis dropped for the returning Mats Hummels for Dortmund.
Schmelzer steps back into Bundesliga action in place of Durm, who was a key part of Dortmund's win over Hannover last time out. The inclusion of Hummels should solidify the away side's back four, as the Germany international is far superior to the brief deputy of Sokratis.
Kevin Prince-Boateng and Julian Draxler will be offering the lion's share of creativity for the home side, and it will be important for the Ghana international to try to initiate quick transitions, to try and exploit the slight lack of pace in Dortmund's central defensive pairing.
Schalke head into this match following three consecutive unbeaten games in the Bundesliga, triumphing over Eintracht and Augsburg, and drawing against Hoffenheim. Not the toughest opponents, but the hosts are in reasonably good domestic shape.
Defensively, Schalke have struggled, as demonstrated by their negative goal difference, despite sitting in fifth place in the Bundesliga table. Against a rather fluid and pacey offensive Dortmund quartet, it is more than possible that Keller's men will be tested this afternoon.
With Klaas-Jan Huntelaar still on the treatment table for the considerable future, Schalke desperately need Szalai to step up to the mark, as the Hungarian hasn't quite found the form which earned his a summer move to the Veltins-Arena. Playing as a lone striker, he must be prepared to do plenty of work off of the ball.
We're rapidly approaching kick-off now, with the stadium filled to the rafters and an almost tangible atmosphere of excitement. These are the kind of games where it's almost impossible for the players to shut out the environment they're playing in, I'm sure!
The start of the first derby of the season between these two clubs is now imminent! The fans are in phenomenal voice, the teams are readying themselves, and this is a stunning showcase of why the Bundesliga is such an excellent league to watch and enjoy!
The start of the game has been delayed! The Dortmund fans are throwing smoke bombs onto the field, and Weidenfeller goes over to tell the away support to stop what they are doing!
A few flares are being fired into sections of the Schalke support, and the Dortmund fans are not making any friends this afternoon! The support is fanatical, but sometimes fans go too far. All of the players are stood around with their hands on their hips, waiting for the all clear to start the match.
Finally, the referee is permitted to allow the players onto the field, and we can finally get underway!
HALF TIME! What an excellent first half of Bundesliga football! Minus the antics of the Dortmund fans before kick-off, this has been a great advert for the league.
A wonderful team goal by Dortmund, as Grosskreutz found Mkhitaryan in between the lines, before the Armenian slipped the ball in behind Aogo to allow Reus to cut back a delivery from the byline. Aubameyang and Lewandowski were waiting on the edge of the six yard box, and the former touched home with ease.
Schalke have enjoyed plenty of possession, but the closest the home side has come was in the form of a penalty miss by Kevin-Prince Boateng. Weidenfeller denied him, but has been relatively untested by the hosts, the polar opposite of 34-year-old Hildebrand in the opposite net.
It looks as though the away side are going to make a substitution, with the cautioned Schmelzer presumably being replaced by Durm, the youngster that combined so excellently with Reus in Dortmund's victory over Hannover.
FULL TIME! A roar from the away section of the Veltins-Arena, and it's all smiles for Klopp and his side. Schalke never looked like pushing Dortmund all the way, despite a five minute period in the second half, and the visitors deserve their 3-1 victory.
Goals from Aubameyang, Sahin and Blaszczykowski grab the points for Dortmund, despite a briefly worrying consolation goal from young substitute Meyer, which looked to put Schalke back in with a late shout. On reflection, a two goal lead is no more than Dortmund deserved.
That win completes a great week for Dortmund, while Schalke will wish they can repeat it and have another try. Losses to Chelsea and Dortmund are unlikely to give Keller any sleepless nights, however.
That's all that we have time for, and we hope that you have enjoyed our Bundesliga coverage of Dortmund's 3-1 derby win over rivals Schalke. I've been Simon Harrison, and I hope to see you all again next time.
