Salah lifts a divine pass over Cahill and Terry for Sio to run onto, but the Ivory Coast striker is unable to take the ball in his stride and test Cech, as the Chelsea defence recovers and Stocker then shoots wildly over.
89'
The fourth official signals for two minutes of added time at St Jakob Park. Chelsea don't have long to find an equaliser here!
87'
Mohamed Salah has scored a goal for Basel! Assist by F. Schär.
STUNNING FROM SALAH! BASEL TAKE THE LEAD! The game's standout player catches Chelsea on the break, as he cuts inside Ivanovic, races into the penalty area, and lifts a fine finish over Cech and into the far corner.
86'
K. De Bruyne enters the game and replaces Willian.
Mourinho makes his third and final change as Kevin de Bruyne comes on for Willian.
84'
There was some textbook John Terry defending to keep Basel out a moment ago, including a flying diving header on the penalty spot to clear the ball away.
83'
PANDEMONIUM AT BOTH ENDS! Ivanovic thinks he is fouled inside the Basel box as he tries to pull the trigger and then Basel go straight up the other end and come close to scoring through Die, as he rifles a shot just wide.
81'
POOR TOUCH FROM TORRES!! The Chelsea forward produces a heavy touch inside the box just as the Blues look set to get their first effort on target. There was good link-up play in the build-up between Ramires and Hazard, but the Blues are still yet to test Sommer.
79'
That is Streller's last involvement of the game as he makes way for Giovanni Sio. The Basel captain put in a solid performance leading the line for Yakin's side and forced Cech into one smart stop early on.
78'
G. Sio enters the game and replaces M. Streller.
Salah finds Voser with a neat pass on the left. The versatile defender tries to play the ball into Streller but he is brushed off the ball by Cahill.

Ramires gets yellow.
STAT: The Blues have drawn 49 games in UEFA competition, winning 100. (via Uefa.com)
74'
Ramires is booked after barging into Die off the ball. The Chelsea man can have absolutely no complaints about that decision!
73'
Chelsea have certainly looked brighter in this second period than they did in the first but they are still yet to really test Sommer in the Basel goal.
71'
A. Ajeti enters the game and replaces T. Xhaka.
Yakin makes Basel's first change of the evening as Xhaka is replaced by Arlind Ajeti. The 20-year-old defender made his Champions League debut against Chelsea on matchday one.
70'
But again the Swiss side fail to test Chelsea from the set piece! It is headed away easily by Ivanovic.
69'
Stocker finds Voser on the right and the full-back does well to get past Azpilicueta and hook a cross into the box. Mikel, under what seemed like a manageable amount of pressure from Steller, can only fire the ball behind for a corner to Basel.
68'
STAT: Basel's record of never winning a game on matchday four of the Champions League continued last time out. They have won three out of four previous outings on matchday five. (via Uefa.com)
66'
Frei throws himself theatrically to the floor after being nicked by Ramires. It didn't seem like there was much in that but the Swiss midfielder went down with aplomb. He got what he wanted – a free kick inside his own half.
65'
M. Obi gets yellow.
Torres and Hazard have offered more of a threat since being introduced than the rest of the Chelsea team between them. The Blues have shaded the second half so far.
64'
Lampard curls the set piece towards the near post but it is deflected away cautiously by Ivanov.
63'
S. Dié gets yellow.
Voser catches Torres with a late challenge and the forward shows good awareness to play a quick free kick to Hazard on the left. As Basel try and regroup Die launches into Hazard and clearly catches him without getting much of the ball. Free kick to Chelsea, to the left of the Basel box.
61'
DELIGHTFUL FROM TORRES! The Spaniard produces a lovely flick to find the onrushing Hazard but the Belgium international rejects the opportunity to shoot from the egde of the box in favour of trying to find Ramires out wide. The former Lille man gets too much on the pass though, and the lithe midfielder cannot get a decent cross into the box.
60'
Die has been excellent in central midfield for Basel tonight. He has put in some shuddering but fair tackles to break down Chelsea attacks and his passing has also been top notch. He has just picked out the overlapping Xhaka on the left with a fine driven ball, only for the left-back to ruin everything with a heavy touch.
59'
But they do not look dangerous on this occasion! The cross from the right by Stocker is easily cleared away at the near post by Lampard.
58'
Basel win another corner. They have looked dangerous from set pieces so far this evening...
57'
Torres produces a touch from 2008 to spin past Die just inside the Basel half, but he cannot retrieve the ball as Ivanov steals possession for the hosts.
55'
E. Hazard enters the game and replaces Oscar.
Mourinho decides it is time for another change. Oscar is making way for Hazard. Perhaps the Belgian schemer can provide the Blues with a spark in the remaining 35 minutes.
54'
A crunching challenge from Schar stops a promising Chelsea attack from maturing on the left-hand side, as the centre-back steps in front of Torres and hoofs the ball out for a throw.
53'
STAT: There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Chelsea's last 10 games in the Champions League.
52'
Salah tries an ambitious outside of the boot pass across the Chelsea penalty area to Stocker, but a retreating Ramires is able to intercept the pass and avert the danger.
50'
Xhaka races down the left for Basel and hurls a cross into the penalty area, but it is comfortably dealt with by Cech – the experienced goalkeeper steps from his line and claims the ball with his hands.
49'
El Nenny gets a warning from the referee after catching Azpilicueta with an outflung foot. Chelsea, quite rightly, get a free kick for the foul, right in front of the dugouts.
48'
Basel look like they are still in the changing rooms. The Swiss side have made a sloppy start to the second half and have misplaced a series of passes in the opening few minutes.
47'
Azpilicueta and Mikel combine well to steal the ball from Salah on the near side. The latter threads a pass out to Willian on the left wing, but the move breaks down when he overhits a pass to Torres.
46'
We are back underway for the second half at St Jakob Park...
45' +1
And there is the half-time whistle! It remains goalless in Switzerland.
45'
Stocker's effort is timid and goes straight into the wall! That was a disappointing attempt from one of Basel's brightest players.
44'
Free kick for Basel late in the half, 25 yards out, just right of centre, after Salah goes down very easily under a challenge from Mikel...
43'
RISKY FROM IVANOVIC! The Serbian full-back turns inside and plays a hopeful pass towards Lampard that falls straight at the feet of the dangerous Salah. Fortunately for Ivanovic his pass goes astray though, when Basel looked to have a numerical advantage in that attack.
42'
Fernando Torres enters the game and replaces S. Eto'o.
And there is Torres. He comes on for Eto'o with just minutes of the first half left to play.
40'
TORRES TIME? It seems so! The Spain international is getting warmed up and is set to replace Eto'o, who is being carried off the pitch on a stretcher. Fingers crossed that is not a bad injury for the experienced attacker.
39'
Eto'o looks to be in trouble after an innocuous challenge from Schar 30 yards from goal. That does not look good for the Chelsea forward. He immediately gestured to be substituted after falling to the turf.
38'
Xhaka concedes a free kick for a foul on Ivanovic and picks up a yellow card for his troubles – the first booking of the evening.
37'
T. Xhaka gets yellow.
36'
Basel are keeping a very close eye on Oscar whenever the ball looks like going near him, with at least two players quickly surrounding the Brazilian to make life difficult for him.
35'
GREAT RECOVERY FROM AZPILICUETA! The Spanish full-back is nudged off balance by Salah as the two challenge for a high ball from Schar, and the Basel attacker bursts through on goal and shapes to shoot with his left – but there is Azpilicueta, throwing his body in front of Salah to take the ball away from the forward.
33'
Cech comes rushing off his line to intercept a throughball and manages to start an attack for his side at the same time. His clearance lands at the feet of Willian, who takes a couple of touches before floating a cross towards Eto'o, only for Sommer to hurtle off his line and grab it before it lands on the striker's forehead.
32'
STAT: Basel are unbeaten in their last four Champions League matches against English sides, including a famous 2-1 win over Manchester United in December 2011 that saw their opponents fail to qualify from the group stages.
31'
A good tackle from Azpilicueta stops Stocker in his tracks on the right for Chelsea, but the Spaniard wastes his hard work by hoofing a clearance straight to Die. The combative midfielder returns the favour though, as his wild effort from distance flies into the stands.
29'
Streller wants a corner after flicking an effort at goal at the near post, but the referee and linesman conspire to frustrate him as they award a goal-kick. It looked like the ball did take a touch off Cahill before going behind, but the officials thought otherwise.
28'
I'd forgotten Oscar was playing in this game. The elegant attacker has just reminded me of his involvement by crashing into the back of Die and conceding a free kick on the halfway line.
27'
Eto'o is flagged offside as Chelsea try and launch a counterattack with a driven crossfield pass. The former Anzhi man is not happy about that decision and neither is his manager. He should not have been caught offside there, he had a lot of time to measure his run.
25'
STAT: Basel have had six attempts at goal so far in this game, five of which have been on target. Chelsea, meanwhile, have had zero efforts at Sommer's goal.
24'
SO NEARLY SUPERB FROM BASEL! They are moving the ball ever so well in the first half of this game. A quick one-touch move right in the middle of the pitch is eventually flicked out to the right by Salah, but the return pass from Kay Voser is slightly overcooked and the ball runs all the way through to Cech.
23'
GREAT SAVE FROM CECH!! The Chelsea goalkeeper adjusts his body brilliantly to fling out an arm and tip Salah's bouncing strike over the crossbar after a fine move from the hosts involving Frei and Streller.
21'
Every Basel player looks comfortable in possession here. Twice in the space of a minute both centre-backs have turned past a Chelsea player on the edge of their own penalty area rather than playing the ball back to the goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
20'
Ramires relieves some pressure on the Chelsea defence with a fine pass out to Willian with the outside of his right boot. The Brazilian saunters across the pitch from left to right, but is eventually dispossessed by Xhaka, who has started the game strongly at left-back for the hosts.
19'
STAT: Chelsea suffered a surprise defeat against Basel at Stamford Bridge on September 18 but have since won all but three of their 13 games in all competitions since that result.
17'
John Terry stands firm up against Streller and the Chelsea captain is awarded with a free kick, as the referee deems the Swiss forward to have fouled the centre-back.
16'
I've seen those given! The ball pops up onto Lampard's hand inside the Chelsea box after a quick short corner from Basel, but the referee waves play on.
15'
TWO GREAT CROSSES FROM CHELSEA! Fabian Schar rises above Lampard on the penalty spot to head Ramires' high cross away, but Chelsea come right back at the home side, as Ivanovic swings an inviting cross towards Eto'o at the back post that the Cameroon international is a whisker away from turning into the net.
14'
CECH TIPS A FREI EFFORT WIDE! The 24-year-old is invited to shoot by a retreating Chelsea defence, and he accepts that invitation – unleashing a left foot shot from 20 yards that nicks off Ivanovic's boot and forces Cech into making a smart stop low to his left.
12'
Two corners in quick succession are dealt with well by the away side's backline though, as first Cahill nods behind and then Cech claims the ball authoritatively.
11'
Cahill tackles Stocker well on the near side after another promising move from Yakin's men. Basel have another set piece now, and another chance to test Cech and his defence.
9'
Chelsea string a few passes together in midfield, but that passage of play is brought crashing to a halt by a stern challenge by Die on Frank Lampard 35 yards from the Basel goal.
8'
Snoods aplenty on the Chelsea bench. Juan Mata, as you might expect, manages to pull it off magnificently.
7'
GOOD PLAY FROM BASEL! The hosts push down the right and only a divine intervention from Gary Cahill is enough to take Salah's dangerous cross away from the lurking Streller inside the Chelsea box.
6'
STAT: Basel top the Swiss Super League by three points after coming from behind to beat Thun 4-1 on Saturday, with Marco Streller – who has now scored nine times this season – getting on the scoresheet.
5'
The home side are frequently looking to Frei when they get the ball and the 24-year-old has looked neat and tidy in possession in the opening exchanges in Switzerland.
3'
Basel win a free kick to the left of the Chelsea penalty area that the left-back Taulant Xhaka flicks venomously towards the near post. Petr Cech just about manages to parry the ball away under pressure from Streller and the Blues are then able to clear it upfield.
2'
Stocker thinks he has kept the ball in play for the hosts after it looked destined to bounce out for a Chelsea goal-kick, but after what seems like an age after he hooks the ball into the middle the linesman on the far side decides it had actually gone out and decides to raise his flag.

Stephane Lannoy is the referee for this one, and he blows his whistle to get this Group E clash underway...
Good evening one and all and welcome to LIVE coverage of the crucial Champions League Group E fixture between Basel and Chelsea at St Jakob Park. A win for Jose Mourinho's men tonight would put them through to the knockout stages, while even a draw could be enough should Schalke fall to a Steaua Bucharest-tinted sword in the group's other game.
My name is Charlie Scott, by the way, and I'll be with you every step of the way tonight.
The London side have a bone to pick with Murat Yakin and his team, having been beaten in their own backyard at Stamford Bridge on matchday one thanks to a late winner from Marco Streller. And that defeat was Chelsea's first home group-stage loss since 2003.
Mourinho – never one to miss an opportunity to lay into his team – described Chelsea's performance in that game as "garbage. With a place in the knockout stages in their crosshairs, the Portuguese coach will certainly be expecting much better from his players tonight.
Without further ado, let's have a quick look at the two starting line-ups ahead of kick-off...
SUBS: Vailati, Philipp Degen, Ajeti, Sauro, David Degen, Delgado, Sio
Brief interruption to the team news to let you know that it appears Mourinho is wearing a snood tonight. His dress sense is so unpredictable these days. You can't really blame him for his extra item of thermalwear this evening though, apparently the temperature in Switzerland is -1 degrees centigrade.
SUBS: Schwarzer, Cole, De Bruyne, Hazard, Torres, Mata, Schurrle
CHELSEA TEAM NEWS: The Blues make just the one change from the side that comprehensively beat West Ham 3-0 at the weekend as Eden Hazard drops to the bench to be replaced by Willian. The visitors look like they are lining up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Oscar and Willian playing either side of Samuel Eto'o. Fernando Torres returns from his adductor injury, but is only named as a substitute.
BASEL TEAM NEWS: Mohamed El Nenny starts in midfield for the hosts at the expense of Giovanni Sio. He joins Serey Die and the fabulous Fabien Frei behind an attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Streller and Valentin Stocker. Yakin's side are without Chilean midfielder Marcelo Diaz though, after he picked up a rib injury while on international duty.
The teams walk out onto the pitch from an interesting tunnel placement – between one of the goals and a corner flag. Not long now until one of the highlights of my week, the Champions League theme tune...
Ahhhh, there she is. What a superb track that is. We are just moments away from kick-off at St Jakob Park!
HALF-TIME: BASEL 0-0 CHELSEA It's all square at the interval at St Jakob Park despite Basel dominating. The hosts have created an array of chances through their vibrant front four of Streller, Stocker, Salah and Frei, with Cech being forced into action on a couple of occasions. Chelsea, meanwhile, have looked fairly toothless going forward, and they were hit with a blow late in the half when Eto'o was forced off with a thigh injury.
FULL-TIME: BASEL 1-0 CHELSEA A late goal from Salah secured all three points for the home side and gave them a huge boost in terms of their own qualification chances. Chelsea advance to the knockout stages despite the defeat, but their coach Mourinho will be concerned by another tepid performance which saw them fail to register an attempt on target.
BASEL DO THE DOUBLE OVER CHELSEA! The Swiss side were quite brilliant tonight and deserved all three points. That's all from me for tonight guys and girls. Good night!
