Just the two minutes of added time in Santiago Bernabeue. It looks like both sides will be happy to see the whistle now.
88'
Meyer collects the ball on the right wing and typically attempts to cut inside but Casemiro is on hand to intercept the ball out for a Schalke goal kick. Perhaps one last chance for a goal for the German side?
86'
Ohhhhh Isco! The 21-year-old initially does brilliantly to dance past the challenge of Hoogland inside the box but them blazes a left-footed strike over the bar! He's deserved a goal tonight, he's been terrific.
84'
Just over five minutes of regulation time remaining here before Madrid are confirmed as being quarter-finalists. Schalke have gave their all tonight, but the damage was well and truly done in the first leg when they conceded six.
82'
Ronaldoooooo!! How has he not grabbed his hat trick?! The Ballon d'OR winner gets beyond the Schalke defence in the left channel before smashing a left-footed strike at goal, but his attempt comes off the inside of the post! So unlucky!
81'
A. Annan enters the game and replaces K. Ayhan.
Those Madrid goals have just made the Schalke fans cheer and sing even louder for their team, with each passes being granted with an 'OLE'. You have to hand it to them.
79'
K. Papadopoulos gets yellow.
Matip has been excellent in the most part for Schalke tonight but he has capitulated poorly in the past few minutes. Was left for dead by Ronaldo and them came the ball away cheaply within a minute and Madrid have took full advantage.
77'
The man who has just won this match for Madrid has been Gareth Bale. The Welshman battled in midfield in the lead up to the Ronaldo goal and then incredibly unselfishly set up Morata for the next. Terrific.
75'
Álvaro Morata has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by G. Bale.
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL FOR REAL MADRID!! MORATA SCORES HIS FIRST CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GOAL!! A horrible mistake from Matip allows Madrid to counterattack and the ball comes to Ronaldo who smashes a strike off the cross bar. Bale quickly collects though and reverses the ball back inside to the 21-year-old, who taps home! Three-one!
74'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid!
GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL FOR REAL MADRID!!! RONALDO NETS HIS SECOND! Bale steals the ball in midfield and lays the ball to his team-mate who bursts towards goal, taking on Matip, before lashing a strike into the bottom right corner! Thirteenth Champions League goal of the season! Unbelievable! Two-one!

Description
72'
Hoogland shows excellent determination to get on the end of a ball down towards the Madrid corner flag. He won't be too happy with Obasi though, as the Nigerian gives the ball away shortly after receiving it.
70'
Dani Carvajal enters the game and replaces Sergio Ramos.
Dear oh dear, Ronaldo, who is this guy?! The Portuguese looks to pull the trigger inside the box but accidentally clips the ball with his other foot before slipping straight on to his backside. If that were any other player that would be embarrassing, but he'll probably go on to score a hat trick now.
68'
Carlo Ancelotti makes his third and final change of the match as Dani Carvajal is introduced in place of Sergio Ramos, which will mean Nacho stepping in at centre back.
66'
Obasi and Hoogland link up down the right wing and the ball is eventually played inside to Szalai, but the Hungarian still can't claim a meaningful touch after coming on as Sergio Ramos nicks in to steal possession for Madrid.
65'
The wall does it's job as Ronaldo clips the ball off the top of Kolasinac's head and the home side get the corner kick.
64'
Real Madrid get the free kick in Ronaldo territory here as Szalai comes in and clips the heels of Sergio Ramos before the Madrid defender can get he shot away. The Portuguese will definitely fancy this one...
62'
It's a pretty quiet period in the match at the moment as we just get beyond the hour mark. Schalke are showing plenty of fight but this makeshift Real Madrid team are looking pretty comfortable, with possession in the final third coming rarely for Jens Keller's men.
60'
Schalke finally make the change at the back as Howedes is replaced in the centre of defence by Kyriakos Papadopoulos. A mountain of a young man!
58'
K. Papadopoulos enters the game and replaces B. Höwedes.
Illarramendi gets yellow.
First yellow card of the match goes to Illarramendi and it's for a cynical tug on Meyer as the German made his way through the middle of the park in a Schalke counterattack. Deserved entry into the book.
56'
A real blow to Schalke here as it doesn't look like Howedes will be able to continue. The captain of the Bundesliga just goes down clutching his groin, and his signaled to the bench that he'll need to be replaced.
54'
Save again from Fahrmann! Morata floats the ball down the left-hand side for Ronaldo who drives towards goal with pace before cutting back and laying the ball off to Isco. The former Malaga man leaves Howedes for dead before shooting, but again Madrid are foiled by the Schalke keeper!
52'
Ronaldooooo! What a save from Fahrmann!! Sergio Ramos meets a cross to the back post and nods the ball back into the danger area for Ronaldo, who bullets a header down towards goal, but the keeper displays fantastic reflexes to turn the attempt over the bar!
50'
Isco receives the ball to feet inside the box and dazzles the Santiago Bernabeu crowd with some lightning-quick feet before looking to dribble past Matip, but the defender doesn't fall for the tricks and ends up stabbing the ball out for a corner.
48'
It's football pinball inside the Madrid box! Draxler sends a deep corner to the back post and Illarramendi and Sergio Ramos both attempt to hack it away before Obasi and Neustadter both try and get a shot away. Madrid end up clearing up the park though.
46'
Á. Szalai enters the game and replaces K. Huntelaar.
Casemiro enters the game and replaces Xabi Alonso.
We are back under way in Madrid. A couple of changes to report for you from the each side as Casemiro enters the fray in place of Xabi Alonso for Real Madrid and, Huntelaar, surprisingly, is replaced by Ádam Szalai.
45' +1
What a fantastic challenge from Nacho! Meyer sends Draxler through on goal with a brilliant pass on the half volley but before the German can pull the trigger the Madrid full back comes in with a superb challenge. The ball finds it's way to Huntelaar but he wastes the opportunity with a blazed shot over the bar.
44'
It seems to be a bit of a shoot-on-sight policy from Schalke at the currently. Twice within a few minutes, Chinedu Obasi and Draxler go for it with long-range strikes, but neither have caused Casillas any problem whatsoever. It may take a little more finesse to break Madrid down if the German side are to get their second goal.
42'
The former Real Madrid strike is clearly hungry for a goal against his previous employers, and tries his lucky once again with a rasper of a strike from 30 yards. It was always rising though, and Casillas sees it safely over the bar.
41'
HUNTELAAR! How close was that?! Some lovely short passes on the edge of the Madrid box ends with Meyer threading a pass through to the Dutchman, who squeezes a shot at goal that goes inches wide of the post! Casillas may have got a touch!
39'
Nachooooo! Unlucky! Morata latches on to a loose ball inside the box and picks out his team-mate just inside the box. The right-back smashes a strike at goal but it's straight down the throat of Fahrmann, who makes the save.
37'
Schalke are just enjoying a small period of possession at the moment. It's mostly coming along the defence from left to right, but it'll improve their confidence to get some time on the ball.
35'
Almost a wonderful goal from Madrid! Some lightning-quick interplay between Isco and Ronaldo sees the ball flicked through to Morata, but Madrid are foiled by Fahrmann again who comes dashing off his line to make the stop. Good goalkeeping.
33'
Iscoooooo! Great save from Fahrmann! The former Malaga man pops up just on the left of the box and shifts the ball on to his right foot before attempting to pick out the far corner with a curled strike, but the Schalke keeper stretches out both his hands to beat the ball way with authority!
31'
T. Hoogland has scored a goal for Schalke 04!
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL FOR SCHALKE!! That wasn't in the script!! Tim Hoogland bursts forward from right-back and tries his luck with an attempt from 25 yards. His shot takes a HUGE deflection off Sergio Ramos and ends up nestling in the bottom corner! One-one!
30'
Morata is trying too hard to atone for his earlier miss. He collects possession on the left and cuts inside, attempting to get past two or three tackles. His eventual shot is blocked. Ronaldo was standing by himself just inside the box, and gives his team-mate a stare.
29'
A combination of Meyer and Draxler in the inside left channel see Schalke almost find a route to the Madrid goal, but Varane is positioned excellently to mop up at the back and see the ball back through to Casillas comfortably.
27'
WHAT A MISS FROM MADRID!!! Bale latches on to a mistake from Matip and stretches his legs beyond the defender with tremendous pace before reversing a pass inside for Morata, but the 21-year-old chokes his finish and fails to get a decent connection, sending the attempt wide!!
25'
I mentioned the Schalke fan's before the match and how they were continuing to support their team. Going a further goal down doesn't seem to have effected them too much, as they look to be having a pretty good party in the heavens of Santiago Bernabeu.
23'
Good defending from Varane. Draxler picks up the ball in plenty of space on the left wing and drives into the Madrid box before taking on the Frenchman, who remains solid and stays on his feet to make the tackle. There was no way by him there.
22'
It was always going to be him wasn't it? It once again could be a case of 'How Many?' for Real Madrid and Ronaldo tonight, as Schalke will be deflated by that opening goal.
21'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by G. Bale.
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL FOR REAL MADRID!!! LOS BLANCOS OPEN THE SCORING!! Morata slides the ball down the channel for Bale, who lashes a cross along the six yard box, and who else but Ronaldo is on hand to tap home from close range! One-nil!
20'
Ronaldo receives the ball on the edge of the box and looks poised to cut inside and shoot, but instead opts to shift the ball down the left for the overlapping Coentrao. The left-back swings a cross into the box but Fahrmann comes off his line to claim out of the air.
18'
The tackles have been flying in from Schalke in the opening stages. Kolasinac has been the most guilty culprit, and goes to ground once again, this time on Nacho near the corner flag. If he catches him there it's a definite yellow, but he Madrid man rides the tackle.
16'
Illarramendi finds Bale on the touchline with an absolutely sensational diagonal pass which the former Spurs man lays off to Nacho just inside. The Madrid man poorly gives the ball away though, and is only saved by Coentrao who intercepts a potential Schalke counterattack.
15'
That was a chance for Madrid there, they were queuing up at the back post! Xabi Alonso whips a perfect cross to the back post and both Varane and Sergio Ramos go for it, but get in each other's way and Neustadter does well to see it out for a goal kick.
14'
Madrid get the free kick down the right flank after Draxler bulldozes Bale just a yard in from the touchline. Looked shoulder-to-shoulder, but it's Los Blancos who are awarded the set-piece. Let's see what they can make of this.
13'
First glimpse of Chinedu Obasi down that right wing. The Nigerian has a trick or two in his locker, and looks to utilise his skills to get beyond Coentrao at full-back, but Sergio Ramos diligently come in to steal the ball and play it off the Schalke man for a Real Madrid goal kick.
12'
Morata looks to latch on to a pass just inside the box and does so, but has to go through Howedes to get there and the referee awards Schalke a rather soft free kick inside their own penalty box.
10'
Illarramendi pops the ball in to the feet of Bale and the Welshman looks to exchange a one-two with Nacho down the right-hand side, but Kolasinac, who was involved in the Jese injury, comes in again with a strong challenge.
8'
G. Bale enters the game and replaces Jesé.
Real Madrid can make that change now as Bale, who has now warmed up, comes on to replace Jese. That's a real shame for the young Spaniard, but he did manage to get up on his feet before being substituted, which is promising.
7'
Huntelaaaaaaar! Unlucky! Some decent build-up play between the Schalke attackers eventually sees the ball come to the Dutchman, who swiftly turns before lashing a left-foot strike at goal from the edge of the box. Casillas gets right behind it and makes the save though.
6'
Max Meyer looks to break out of midfield with a run down the left-channel but any potential move is halted as Nacho comes in with a perfectly-timed challenge to win the ball back for the hosts.
5'
Apart from that couple of passes down the left-hand side in the opening minute from Schalke, it's been all Madrid so far, and you feel with Illarramendi and Xabi Alonso just sitting in the middle dictating play, the Germans aren't going to see much of the ball.
4'
The stretcher has been called for, and it doesn't look like Jese will be able to continue. Ancelotti sends Bale and Marcelo to warm-up and Madrid will play for a few minutes with 10-men.
3'
Some very worrying scenes for Madrid at the moment as Jese buckled down under the challenge from Kolasinac. The 21-year-old clutches his knee on the floor and looks to be in a mountain of pain. Let's hope he's okay.
2'
Draxler and Neustadter link up impressively with some decent, short passes down the left-hand side, but the move breaks down when the former's pass into the feet of Huntelaar is intercepted.
1'
We are under way in Madrid! It's pretty much an exhibition match for Ancelotti's men, but let's hope it's not played in that spirit!
Good evening football fans! Welcome to LIVE coverage of the Champions League Last-16 second leg clash between Real Madrid and Schalke from Santiago Bernabeu!
I'm Martin Macdonald, and I'll be taking you through the action!
TEAM NEWS...
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Casillas; Nacho, Varane, Ramos, Coentrao; Xabi Alonso, Isco, Illarramendi; Ronaldo, Morata, Jese.
Los Blancos are already a certainty for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a 6-1 demolition of the Bundesliga outfit a fortnight ago in the first leg, but there is still plenty to play for in both camps tonight...
Jens Keller's outfit will be desperate to atone for the embarassing defeat on their home patch in the previous match, so nothing short of full effort will be accepted by the Gelsenkirchen faithful. Some pride to claw back for sure.
Madrid's huge advantage going into the second leg has been reflected in Carlo Ancelotti's starting XI. Nacho, Fabio Coentrao, Asier Illarramendi, Isco, Jese, and Alvaro Morata are all awarded for a start, and will certainly be hoping to impress at this stage of the competition.
The match a fortnight ago at the Veltins-Arena saw complete domination from the Spanish Primera Division leaders. Two goals each from Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Karim Benzema saw Real Madrid seal their place in the next round with a comprehensive 6-1 win.
Schalke will no doubt be treating this as a fresh match as they at least try to claim a victory on the night, but even this looks to unlikely. Madrid have lost only twice on the 25 occasions they have hosted German visitors in the Spanish capital, with 19 wins and four draws.
Los Blancos overrall record against German opposition in two-legged ties in Europe is not quite as convincing, though. They have won eleven times and lost eight.
The first leg included, Schalke have won only two of their last 14 encounters against Spanish opponents, suffering seven defeats. All things point to a win for Madrid here, but will any complacency creep in as they have basically already progressed?
Fair play to the Schalke fans, they have still made the trip to Santiago Bernabeu in hordes tonight despite the massive deficit. The're the ones doing all the singing at the moment!
The teams make their way to the field, as we await the awesome Champions League theme...
Half time in Santiago Bernabeu. Madrid were on course to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions before the second leg started and it got worse for Schalke when Cristiano Ronaldo put the hosts ahead after 21 minutes. But an equaliser through a deflected Tim Hoogland strike has given the Bundesliga outfit to go on and make a game out of this. The main incident of the first half happened just two minutes in though, as Jese went off injured with what may be cruciate ligament damage. A terrible blow to the youngster in his breakthrough season. We enter the break at 1-1 in this European clash.
Full time in Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League thanks to a comprehensive 9-2 aggregate win over Schalke. The damage was done in the first leg with the 6-1 win in the Veltins-Arena but a double from Cristiano Ronaldo and a goal from Alvaro Morata seal a 2-1 win for Los Blancos on the night. The only negative to proceedings for Carlo Ancelotti's men was the potentially season-threatening injury for Jese, who looks to have suffered cruciate damage. It's the Clasico next for Real Madrid though! I'm Martin Macdonald, thanks for joining us, see you next time!
