The ball sits up nicely for Bacca from 18 yards out, but Ramos puts in an important block to deny the Colombian striker a shot on target. Sevilla have pushed forward in the dying stages, earning applause from their coach, but the result was already beyond doubt. Beto denies Bale with another excellent stop!
90' +1
We're into the first of three minutes of stoppage time.
90'
Now Diogo lets fly! The substitute tries an ambitious shot from the edge of the area once again, but the ball takes a slight deflection as it looks to arrow into the back of the net! Sevilla whip in the resulting corner, but Real Madrid clear. Emery's men are finally getting on top.
89'
Casillas makes another solid stop! Krychowiak lets fly from the edge of the penalty area, getting plenty behind the ball, but the Spain international leaps across to bat the Sevilla midfielder's effort behind for a corner! The experienced 'keeper has performed well tonight.
88'
Real Madrid hold onto possession, forcing Emery's men into plenty of chasing despite having heavy legs. Sevilla's fans don't appear to be too bothered by defeat, with the red portion of the stadium enjoying a Poznan.
86'
Illarramendi enters the game and replaces L. Modrić.
Modric is withdrawn for Illarramendi, as Real Madrid use up the last of their three substitutions. They've put in a good performance and look comfortable as they try to close out in Cardiff with a clean sheet.
84'
Diogo Figueiras enters the game and replaces Coke.
Marcelo enters the game and replaces Fábio Coentrão.
83'
Marcelo replaces Coentrao, as Ancelotti looks to freshen things up and also waste a little bit of time. Coke is withdrawn due to cramping up, with Diogo Figueiras replacing him. The right-back obviously isn't quite back up to the level of match fitness required while playing in a pressing system.
82'
Vitolo goes down with cramp, as the winger has been asked to do plenty of running throughout. Cristiano looks to race through the heart of the Sevilla defence after taking the ball in his stride, but Krychowiak matches his man stride-for-stride to make a fantastic tackle!
81'
Real Madrid continue to look very dangerous on the break, with Cristiano and Bale able to endlessly gallop into gaps to open up space. The former is nearly found as he scampers into the penalty area, but his first touch lets him down and permits Sevilla to clear.
Minute
Description
79'
Narrowly over ten minutes remain for Emery to mastermind a two-goal comeback, with the Sevilla coach sending on Reyes to add some fresh legs going forward. Real Madrid are looking comfortable and dominant, with Casillas still waiting to be called upon since the interval.
78'
José Antonio Reyes enters the game and replaces Denis Suárez.
77'
After the following corner, Sergio Ramos is left on the turf, landing awkwardly after challenging for the ball. He received some treatment and rubs his neck, but should be fine to continue.
76'
Play is briefly stopped, due to an off-the-ball incident involving Sergio Ramos and Krychowiak. Both players aren't happy with how they are being manhandled, but the referee keeps his cards in his pocket and tells both of them to get on with it.
74'
Bale outpaces Navarro yet again, with the Welshman cutting a cross in towards the near post! It is hacked clear, but the former Tottenham winger definitely has the beating of his man whenever he's been asked to take him on.
73'
James' debut has finished prematurely, with Isco taking the field for the remaining minutes. The former Malaga man receives quite a reception as he takes to the field, with the Spaniard certainly having the ability to find the third goal. Modric shoots from 25 yards, but sends a half-volley spiralling high and wide.
72'
Isco enters the game and replaces J. Rodríguez.
71'
Modric and Benzema exchange a one-two on the edge of the penalty box, before the latter fires the ball way over the crossbar! He just couldn't keep it down and get over the ball, but chances are flowing for the Frenchman in this second half.
70'
Coentrao shows his tenacity by chasing lost causes, but ultimately giving away another foul in the opposition half. The Portugal international has been tireless down the left in this contest thus far. Only 20 minutes remain for Sevilla to wriggle their way back into the game.
68'
Great save from Beto! Bale picks up James on the edge of the box, with the former Monaco midfielder setting himself up for a half-volley with his first touch. He unleashes a dipping left-footed strike, but the Portuguese goalkeeper gets a strong wrist to the ball to deny Real Madrid their third of the night!
66'
Iago Aspas enters the game and replaces Aleix Vidal.
Fernando Navarro gets yellow.
Navarro now picks up a yellow card, with the Sevilla left-back struggling to keep tabs on Bale. The Welshman leaves him for dead yet again, forcing the defender to grab his opponent's shirt. Meanwhile, Iago Aspas replaces Vidal.
64'
Benzema shoots from the edge of the penalty area, pivoting sharply to force Beto into a save low down to his right! Coentrao and Cristiano combined well to set the Frenchman up with a chance, but he couldn't quite steer the finish into the bottom corner!
63'
James races down the left-hand side, in an attempt to get on the end of a crossfield pass, but Carrico gets across from defensive midfield well to shepherd the ball out of play.
62'
With less than half an hour to play, Sevilla are growing into the game somewhat, with Bacca and Vidal holding up the ball fairly well, allowing their teammates to get upfield in support. Casillas hasn't been tested since before the break, but Emery can take some encouragement from his side's resurgence.
60'
Bacca and Vidal combine up front once again, with the Colombia international causes Real Madrid all kinds of problems with his physicality. The ball is worked out to Coke on the right, who delivers a cross, but Pepe gets a touch, before Sergio Ramos blasts clear.
58'
Vidal breaks into the opposition penalty area, before throwing himself to the ground under pressure from Pepe. The former Almeria man is told to get up by the referee and understandably so! That would have been an incredibly harsh spot-kick.
57'
Coentrao robs Krychowiak of the ball in the centre of midfield, before driving forward and unleashing an ambitious effort on the half volley! Play is pulled back, as the Portuguese international is adjudged to have controlled the ball with his hand by the referee.
55'
Bale races down the right, opening up his legs and breaking past Navarro as though he wasn't even there. Fazio covers across, with the Welshman's second touch getting away from him a little bit, allowing for the Argentine to put the ball into touch.
53'
T. Kroos gets yellow.
Real Madrid continue to control the play, with Sevilla having no plan B to playing on the break. Kroos slides in late on Krychowiak, earning the Germany international a yellow card.
51'
Five minutes into the second half and Sevilla have it all to do. Chances haven't been regularly forthcoming for Emery's men, with plenty of pressure on Denis Suarez's shoulders to carve Real Madrid open. At least two goals are required from Sevilla to take this fixture to extra time.
49'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by K. Benzema.
GOOOOOOOAL! CRISTIANO MAKES IT TWO! The Portugal international blasts home a fantastic finish, with Beto not having a chance of saving that! Benzema picks out a great through ball, before his teammate fires a ferocious shot into the top right corner! Real Madrid lead 2-0!
48'
Suarez picks up possession, before poking a well-weighted ball in behind Pepe and towards the byline for Vitolo to chase. The winger isn't quick enough, taking a poor first touch in addition, leading to the Sevilla man running the ball out of play.
47'
No changes from either coach at the break, as both hope for more of the same in a very tight contest. Bacca tries to unleash a long-range effort, but Kroos is able to make an important block.
46'
We're back underway in the second half! Real Madrid have a fragile lead, with both of these team's counter-attacking styles meaning that the face of the game could ultimately change within ten seconds. As players tire, we should be in for plenty of chances and entertainment!
45'
Dani Carvajal gets yellow.
44'
That was actually Cristiano Ronaldo's 17th goal against Sevilla, he hasn't managed to rack up a bigger tally against any other team during his career. The Portuguese forward tries to slip past Vitolo once again, but is outmuscled, he's in the mood to net his 18th before his evening is finished.
42'
Vitolo gets yellow.
Cristiano is brought to the ground by Vitolo, with the winger timing his challenge awfully and hacking into the Portugal international's leg. Fortunately for Real Madrid, their star man doesn't need any further treatment. Kroos whips in the free-kick delivery, which is deflected behind for a corner.
40'
James gets a sight of goal and lets fly, but it's comfortable for Beto to get behind the ball and claim. Five minutes left until the break and Real Madrid will be very pleased to have broken down the Sevilla resistance, as it poses Emery plenty of questions. Bale cuts in from the right, before unleashing with his left foot, but Fazio blocks well.
38'
Vitolo breaks down the left, before hanging up a cross to the back post, but nobody is there to meet it. Sevilla are struggling to commit bodies forward, due to their breaks being so vertical that it's difficult for their auxiliary midfielders to get into supporting areas.
37'
Real Madrid continue to be the stronger side, but aren't currently able to take advantage of the sheer amount of corners they are winning. Modric delivers this one, with another man in red clearing with his head. Luckily for Ancelotti, Casillas has made two important saves when called upon.
35'
Casillas is forced into another good save at his near post, with Carrico the man denied! Real Madrid appeared to fall asleep for a moment, inviting on pressure, before the veteran goalkeeper surrendered a corner. Suarez delivers, but Fazio can't quite rise high enough to turn the ball towards goal!
33'
James Rodriguez whips in a free-kick delivery, with the ball falling to Pepe at the back post. The Portuguese defender tries to loop an effort towards goal over his shoulder, but sees it blocked and Sevilla clear. With ten minutes until the break, Sevilla need to get back on level terms.
32'
Unai Emery's men certainly have a conundrum now, as their gameplan was to prey on Real Madrid's mistakes and break, which suits Sevilla when they are either on level terms or ahead. Should they have to break forward, control play and attack of their own accord, however, Ancelotti's expensive offensive options could put Sevilla to the sword.
30'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by G. Bale.
GOOOOOOAL! CRISTIANO GIVES REAL MADRID THE LEAD! Los Blancos open the scoring in the Super Cup! Bale is found on the left, before whipping a beautiful cross to the back post, picking out Cristiano who slides in to apply the finish! Real Madrid lead 1-0!
29'
Real Madrid's attacking quartet continue to cause all types of problems, with Benzema sliding another incisive pass across the face of the penalty area. Nobody is on the end of it, but pressure is building for los Blancos.
27'
Benzema is found on the right-hand side by a crossfield ball, which the Frenchman slips inside for Cristiano. The Portugal international takes the pass in his stride on the edge of the box, before firing a low effort towards the near post, but Beto makes a smart save to deny his compatriot!
26'
Cristiano gives Coke the slip once again, before hammering his cross into another red shirt and winning his side yet another set piece. Kroos whips in this one, but the German's cross fails to even beat the first man. Sevilla are looking comfortable during dead ball situations.
24'
Real Madrid continue to see the majority of possession, but Emery is more than happy for his team to surrender it. As los Blancos probe forwards, they're bound to leave gaps in behind which Bacca certainly has the pace to exploit.
22'
Coentrao delivers an excellent cross from the byline, which takes a slight deflection and arcs towards Beto's net! Fazio is forced to head the delivery over his own crossbar from a few yards out!
20'
Casillas is now forced into a save, getting down sharply to his left to deny Vidal at the near post! Sevilla whip in the corner, with Suarez putting in an excellent ball and Casillas makes a meal of it. Hurriedly, Ancelotti's men hack the danger away!
18'
Great block from Suarez! Real Madrid break quickly down the left, before James whips in a delicious back post cross! Bale stretches to meet it and pokes the ball towards goal, but the retreating midfielder tracks his man and makes a vital intervention! Los Blancos are getting closer!
17'
Kroos is already displaying his excellent passing range in a Real Madrid shirt, with the Germany international a huge loss for his former club. Sevilla continue to try and counter, but young Denis Suarez has been a little bit wasteful in possession so far.
15'
Real Madrid see another corner cleared, before the ball is lumped straight back into the box. Ramos nods the delivery down for Cristiano to apply the finish, but the central defender is caught offside! Ancelotti's men are dominant, but Sevilla are weathering the storm.
14'
RONALDO GOES CLOSE! Cristiano drives down the left, before beating Coke with a couple of step-overs and being brought down eventually by Carrico. Real Madrid will fancy their chances from here and the Portuguese forward's free-kick strike is deflected by Coke and dips onto the roof of the net!
12'
Bale shoots from 25 yards, but the Wales international sees his effort deflect narrowly wide of the far post and behind for a corner. Ramos runs towards the near post, but is beaten in the air and Sevilla hoof clear. Real Madrid are settling into this one as the dominant force.
10'
Fazio gets tight to Cristiano as the Portugal international receives a pass to feet, leaving the Real Madrid man in a heap on the floor. Sevilla are showing much more tenacity and desire when trying to regain possession, which Ancelotti will hope won't translate into any injuries for his key men.
9'
The game is certainly starting to settle down, with only Sevilla pressing with intensity whenever they're off the ball. Cristiano and Bale play a one-two, before the Welshman tries to drive into the penalty area, but the winger is muscled off the ball and the opposition clear.
7'
James looks to be deployed out on the left-hand side at the moment, with Cristiano taking up more of a central position behind Benzema. Real Madrid have a frightening array of weaponry available to them this evening, but are yet to really test Beto in between the Sevilla posts.
6'
Emery's men are keen to take the sting out of the game, slowing down play and waiting for the correct angle. A lofted through ball looks for Bacca, but the pass is far too heavy and zips through to Casillas, who collects.
4'
Sevilla are sitting deep in their own half and looking to break whenever possible. Cristiano lets fly from range, but doesn't generate enough power to test Beto, who smothers the ball easily. Given the wet turf, the goalkeepers may have to watch the zip when shots are bouncing.
2'
James plays a stray pass in midfield, allowing for Sevilla to break upfield at pace. Real Madrid are forced to concede a corner, as Sergio Ramos gets across Suarez well to prevent his compatriot from cutting back a cross from the byline. Los Blancos clear the set piece easily.

We are underway in the first half of the UEFA Super Cup! Real Madrid are in their famous white, while Sevilla are in red - matching the colour of their coach's rather extrovertly designed jacket sleeves!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the UEFA Super Cup, as Real Madrid and Sevilla clash at Cardiff City Stadium, with plenty of star names on show. After winning their tenth European cup last season, los Blancos will be keen to start this campaign in the same trophy-winning fashion, but Unai Emery's capable side stand in their way. They might have lost Ivan Rakitic to Barcelona, but the Europa League winners have retained the majority of their personnel.
I'm Simon Harrison and I will be keeping you fully up to date with all of the action, as Real Madrid unleash their big guns for tonight's occasion. Summer signings Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez are included in the matchday squad, as Carlo Ancelotti looks to land his 15th managerial title. As for the club he's in charge of, victory tonight would secure their 78th, which would put the capital club level on honours with Barcelona.
TEAM NEWS: James Rodriguez appears to slot straight into the number 10 role, but whether Ancelotti is opting for a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system remains to be seen. Gareth Bale starts in his home country, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema making up the other letters of the BBC. Toni Kroos partners Luka Modric in central midfield following his summer switch from Bayern Munich, while Iker Casillas is given the nod in between the posts.
TEAM NEWS: Former Reims midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak starts alongside Daniel Carrico in defensive midfield for Sevilla, allowing for 20-year-old Barcelona loanee Denis Suarez to have more creative freedom in advanced areas. Alberto Moreno is left out of the squad, ahead of his proposed move to Liverpool, meaning that Fernando Navarro starts at left-back. Carlos Bacca leads the line alone, with wide support from Vitolo and new signing from Almeria Aleix Vidal. Iago Aspas makes the bench.
Real Madrid starting line-up: Casillas; Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Coentrao; Kroos, Modric; Bale, James, Cristiano; Benzema.
Real Madrid substitutes: Varane, Marcelo, Navas, Arbeloa, Di Maria, Isco, Illarramendi.
Two new goalkeepers are on either bench for both respective clubs, though Real Madrid's cost just slightly more. Mariano Barbosa will take his seat after a €200,000 move from Las Palmas, while los Blancos spent the princely sum of €10m on Costa Rica international Keylor Navas, who had a rather fantastic World Cup campaign. Whether Ancelotti will continue his policy of only fielding Casillas during the cup competitions remains to be seen.
Unai Emery has seemingly put his faith in two players, after being forced to sell midfield maestro Ivan Rakitic in the summer. Denis Suarez has arrived, with the talented youngster having the technical ability to pick similar passes to that of his Croatian elder. Whether he can apply himself tonight, however, we shall see. Polish midfielder Krychowiak is the other inclusion, with the former Reims man having the tenacity and strength required to make an impact in the engine room.
With a little under a quarter of an hour remaining until kick-off, be sure to stick around for all of the action from Wales' capital city, as Ancelotti bids to lift yet another trophy. Los Blancos mean business, starting two thirds of their summer transfer business and fielding possibly the most expensive starting eleven in football history, but first they must break down the organised and dedicated ranks of Emery's Sevilla.
After plenty of pre-match choreography in the Cardiff City Stadium, we're just about ready to get going, with the two teams streaming out of the tunnel and onto the awaiting turf. Their respective trophies are brought out too, but they're playing for a different prize tonight!
HALF TIME! Real Madrid have a narrow 1-0 lead in Cardiff, giving them the advantage at the interval over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup. Cristiano grabbed the solitary goal, with los Blancos doing plenty of probing and winning plenty of corners and there appears to be more to come.
Sevilla weathered the storm well for long periods, but a magical cross from Bale left Navarro and Beto helpless, allowing for Cristiano to ghost in at the back post to apply the finish. Emery's side have been dogged and organised, but have plenty to do now they're trailing against a lethal counter-attacking line-up.
Be sure to rejoin us in ten minutes time for all of the second half action at the Cardiff City Stadium, where Real Madrid will be looking to double their lead as soon as possible. Sevilla are walking a tightrope, they need an equaliser, but can't afford to concede the second goal of the contest.
FULL TIME! REAL MADRID WIN THE UEFA SUPER CUP! Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo kicks the season off in trophy-winning style for Real Madrid, as los Blancos defeat a hard-working Sevilla outfit 2-0.
Ancelotti's men dominated for long periods, with Beto able to come up with several good saves to ensure that the scoreline stayed respectable. Casillas was rarely called upon, but made solid stops when required. Given the balance of play, Real Madrid are deserving winners, with James and Kroos enjoying steady debuts.
That's all we have time for from Cardiff City Stadium, as Real Madrid defeat Sevilla 2-0 to lift the UEFA Super Cup, with Cristiano the star of the show. I've been Simon Harrison and I hope to see you again next time!
