It's very, very quiet inside Anfield now as both sides look done for the night. Real are preparing another change, by the looks of things, but they have the ball in play for now.
78'
Modric plays a wonderful ball over the top with the outside of his right foot, and Marcelo is almost in behind again, but Markovic tracks back superbly to win the ball off the Real full-back.
77'
Ronaldo got a lot of applause (and some boos) from the home fans. He's been as good as ever tonight and Ancelotti's clearly giving him a little rest before El Clasico this weekend.
76'
Can looks for Markovic with a chipped ball over the top of the defence, but Modric manages to leap up high enough to cut it out with a header. We're inside the final 15 minutes at Anfield, and it looks like both team are winding down now.
75'
S. Khedira enters the game and replaces Cristiano Ronaldo.
No records for Ronaldo tonight, then, as he comes off to be replaced by Sami Khedira. Still, his goal was wonderful.
74'
Liverpool give it away and the visitors come forward through Ronaldo, but Can gets back quickly to win the ball off the Portuguese. The hosts think they're in at the other end as Lallana chases it down the left, but he's caught offside.
73'
JAMES GOES CLOSE!! It's another sweeping counter from Real as Rodriguez and Benzema exchange several passes before the Colombian curls a shot just wide of goal from the edge of the box.
72'
LIVERPOOL SHOULD HAVE ONE BACK!! It's played into Sterling, whose pass across the box is laid off to Allen by Markovic, but he gets caught up and the ball bobbles loose before Lallana puts it wide from an offside position.
71'
Chance for Liverpool as Can moves into the Liverpool half and looks to play in Markovic, but Varane is across to cut it out and clear. The defender has been superb tonight.
70'
Massive danger for Liverpool as the visitors clear from the corner and Benzema gets to it ahead of Johnson. He plays it wide to Rodriguez but Lovren is back superbly to delay the midfielder and slow Real's attack.
69'
Good work from Allen as he catches Modric on his own and muscles him off the ball. Can and Allen then work it to Sterling, who curls an effort towards the middle of the goal, and Casillas tips it over when, really, he should have caught it.
68'
Can has a couple of early touches as the hosts work it wide to Johnson, whose low cross is well cleared by Varane. Liverpool still have possession and are still moving the ball around as they hope to create something.
67'
E. Can enters the game and replaces J. Henderson.
L. Marković enters the game and replaces Philippe Coutinho.
And we do indeed have two changes as Emre Can and Lazar Markovic replace Henderson and Coutinho. Are these two able to inspire anything from Liverpool in the last 20 minutes?
66'
Liverpool clear but again Real win the ball back as Marcelo races to get it before Sterling. It looks like the hosts are preparing a couple of changes, here.
65'
The visitors are keeping the ball again, slowing things down and stopping Liverpool's initiative. Isco floats a lovely pass over the top and Ronaldo winds up a volley with the ball set to drop over his shoulder, but Skrtel gets a vital touch to put it behind.
64'
RONALDO SHOULD SCORE!! Isco is released down the left and chips the ball to the edge of the box for Benzema, who flicks it on to Ronaldo. He brings it down and has the goal at his mercy, but Mignolet stays big and diverts his low effort away.
63'
Sterling wins a corner for the hosts, but Casillas shows some of his old self as he authoritatively claims Coutinho's delivery at the far post.
62'
RONALDO DENIED!! Coutinho gives the ball away and Ronaldo hares forward. His pass to the left is cut out but there's a real mix-up involving Skrtel and the Real man gets it back before firing a left-footed shot from a wide angle, forcing a strong parry from Mignolet.
61'
This is good possession from Liverpool, but Coutinho's ball out wide for Johnson sells him short and Marcelo gets out to it well to slide in and intercept before keeping it in play and firing forward.
60'
We've hit the hour mark at Anfield, and Liverpool have yet to create a meaningful chance since the break. Lallana has been very impressive since coming on but they can't breach the defence.
59'
Moreno does well to win it out wide but promptly loses out again as Rodriguez charges in. It's slightly ominous that their early intensity in this half is going away like it did in the first.
58'
Gerrard sees Johnson in space and plays it out wide, but Isco gets across to force the full-back to retreat. Liverpool still have possession, but Lallana tries an audacious flick across the edge of the box which Modric easily cuts out.
57'
Well, that's not one for Ronaldo to remember. He picks the ball up on the right and shows fancy footwork to cut inside Moreno before flashing a shot a long way wide of the goal. It's nearer to the corner flag.
56'
Liverpool have a chance as Lallana wins the ball and slides a pass through for Sterling, whose touch forces him out wide and he ends up losing out to Arbeloa.

Liverpool win a free kick as Isco takes out Allen near the left, before they take it short and Lallana forces a corner for the hosts.
50'
Coutinho finds Sterling with a nice touch, and the youngster charges into the box before Varane clears his drilled cross. Lallana then works it to Coutinho, whose low 18-yard effort is well blocked.
49'
It's a disappointing delivery from Gerrard, whose cross is easily headed away by Ronaldo in front of the near post and the visitors sweep forward in numbers. Isco plays it wide to Marcelo, who looks for Ronaldo in the box but Allen tracks back to cut it out.
48'
Coutinho spreads the ball wide to Moreno, who looks to fire in a low cross but hits it straight at Arbeloa, and the ball goes out for a throw before Lallana wins a corner off the former Liverpool full-back.
47'
It's another bright start from Liverpool, but Johnson can't quite find the run of Lallana as Marcelo cuts it out. The hosts need something very quickly if there's any hope for them tonight.
46'
A. Lallana enters the game and replaces M. Balotelli.
We're back underway at Anfield as Real Madrid get things moving for the second half. Adam Lallana is on for Balotelli after the break - incidentally, the Italy striker was spotted swapping shirts with Benzema as they entered the tunnel. That won't go down well...
45' +1
COUTINHO OFF THE POST!! A wonderful effort from the Liverpool man, who cuts past Kroos before drilling a superb 25-yard shot at goal which hammers the upright with Casillas beaten.
45'
Kroos sprays another lovely ball out wide and Ronaldo then looks to flick a backheel beyond the defence for Rodriguez, but it doesn't quite come off and Liverpool clear as we enter one added minute.
44'
Real are keeping the ball nicely just inside the Liverpool half before Kroos spreads it wide to Arbeloa in plenty of space. The hosts can't get anywhere near it at the moment.
43'
SO CLOSE FOR ALLEN!! Balotelli piks it up on the right and pulls it back to the edge of the box for Allen, who hits it first time and the ball just skips off the surface and wide of the far post.
42'
It's very quiet inside Anfield now, except for the away end. They've just had no answer to the Real threat in the last 20 minutes.
41'
K. Benzema has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Pepe.
BENZEMA GETS ANOTHER!! IT'S 3-0!! Varane battles for the corner and it then hits Pepe before the ball squirms past Mignolet and through to Benzema, who reacts quickly to prod it into the net and make the scoreline horrible reading for the home fans.
40'
Liverpool are caught out and there's real danger as Benzema plays Ronaldo in behind, but the Portugal man produces a surprisingly poor touch as he tries to cut inside, and Johnson hacks it out for a corner.
39'
Isco and Coutinho battle on the near side and the whistle goes as the Real man is penalised. Johnson elects to take it short, though, much to the disappointment of the home fans.
38'
That early end-to-end nature has come back, here, as Liverpool move into the Real half once more. Balotelli moves in from the left before firing a shot away, but it's blocked and goes out for a throw before Sterling is caught offside as he battles with Moreno to keep possession out wide.
37'
Great chance for Liveprool as Johnson does well on the right and plays it inside for Coutinho, who slots a lovely ball through for Henderson, but the midfielder's low cross is cleared. Real are straight up the other end through Ronaldo, who chips the ball across goal from the line, but Mignolet gets an important touch away.
36'
T. Kroos gets yellow.
Liverpool have managed to stem the tide for now as they now have the ball and are looking to get something back before the break. Balotelli's pass for Coutinho asks too much of the Brazilian, though, and he ends up surrendering possession.
35'
Kroos is in trouble as Sterling flies down the left and the German barges into him with no attempt to play the ball whatsoever. Unsurprisingly, the referee takes his name and the midfielder has a booking.
34'
Ronaldo charges down the right-hand side and is forced to check back but looks for Modric with a lovely ball inside. Liverpool win it back, but Gerrard tries to find Balotelli with a long early ball which isn't accurate enough and runs out for a goal kick.
33'
Isco is caught out by Henderson in midfield, but recovers well to track back and dispossess the Liverpool man near the edge of the box.
32'
The hosts can't get out of their own half at the moment. Ronaldo is almost in again as he plays a neat one-two with Benzema but his chest control lets him down. Sterling has a chance to run down the left and battles hard before giving away a free kick on Pepe inside the Real penalty area.
31'
The key for Liverpool is to get to half time without letting in any more. They've been threatening at the other end but are in danger of capitulating at the back.
30'
K. Benzema has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by T. Kroos.
BENZEMA MAKES IT TWO!! The hosts are being killed off now as Mignolet punches Modric's cross away but it comes back as they work it to Kroos, and the German finds Benzema at the far post, with the striker looping a header over the goalkeeper as it drops into the corner of the net.

27'
The visitors are starting to find more space in the middle - Liverpool were always going to struggle to keep up the intensity. Kroos fires it out to Arbeloa and Rodriguez then finds Isco with a wonderful pass to the left. The midfielder brings it down superbly, but his low cross can only find Lovren.
26'
Mignolet haks the ball forward and Balotelli produces a wonderful touch to spin away from his man, but then produces a terrible pass as he looks for Sterling but ends up playing it straight through to Casillas.
25'
Varane sprays a lovely ball out to the far side for Arbeloa, and Real are ominously growing in confidence after that lovely goal. Liverpool have to be careful not to get blown away, here.
24'
That came just as Liverpool had started to slow down. Sterling tries to get things going again as he moves towards the box before laying off to Balotelli, whose shot from 20 yards cannons off the white wall in front of him.
23'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by J. Rodríguez.
RONALDO OPENS THE SCORING!! A devastating move from the visitors as Ronaldo exchanges passes with Benzema before finding Rodriguez, who lifts a wonderful chip beyond the defence, and the prolific Portuguese lifts it beyond Mignolet and into the far corner with a finish to match the move. Superb.
22'
Liverpool's trademark fast start has slowed down now, and it's Real who are taking the intitiative at the moment as Benzema forces a throw out on the left near the corner flag.
21'
Kroos swings it in and it falls loose at the far post. Rodriguez yells for his team-mates to leave it for him, but he fluffs his lines as the ball spoons high into the stand behind the goal.
20'
Marcelo has a bit of space to run into and looks for Benzema, but it hits Gerrard and flies behind for a corner to Real. This could be dangerous...

16'
Marcelo looks to play the ball down the line but Henderson is there to cut it out before Johnson wins a throw on the near side. Real are finding life difficult in the middle at the moment.
15'
It's been a very positive opening 15 minutes for Liverpool, who are doing well to keep Real pretty quiet so far. Balotelli almosts gets away from Pepe as he muscles the defender off winning a bouncing ball, but it's deemed to be a foul by the referee and the visitors have a free kick.
14'
Rodriguez is off receiving treatment for a nasty cut above his eye, and the midfielder is changing his shirt in time to come back on for a throw to Real on the halfway line.
13'
It's a good corner from Gerrard, who fires it towards the near post, but Ronaldo is there to use his aerial ability to turn it behind for another corner, which Casillas flaps at as Pepe saves his goalkeeper with a hacked clearance.
12'
It's been a bright start from Liverpool, who are shading it in terms of possession at the moment. Allen collects a pass and winds up another long-range shot, which this time hits Pepe and goes behind for a corner.
11'
GERRARD TESTS CASILLAS!! It's a decent early effort from the Liverpool skipper, who finds himself in some space so decides to wind up an effort, firing a dipping shot at goal from 25 yards which Casillas has to parry away.
10'
Mignolet produces a poor kick and puts the defence under pressure as Ronaldo brings it down and looks to move down the left, before firing in a cross which is well cleared.
9'
Good work by Balotelli, who gets in behind before checking back and laying off to Sterling. The England man charges to the line and floats a cross in, but it's an easy claim for Casillas.
8'

7'
Sterling is caught out by Pepe but Henderson quickly wins it back from Modric and the hosts move into the Real half. Allen and Sterling aren't quite on the same wavelength, though, as Modric eventually comes away with it.
6'
The hosts are furious as Sterling chases a ball beyond the defence and appears to be barged over by Arbeloa, but the referee flatly refuses to give anything. Play goes on and Liverpool come back as Sterling is played in along the right-hand edge of the box, but the youngster is offside.
5'

We're underway on Merseyside as Liverpool get the ball rolling for the first half.
Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of the huge Champions League clash between Liverpool and Real Madrid. These are the European nights they’ve been missing at Anfield, but can the hosts get a result?

There’s no English return for Gareth Bale as the former Tottenham man is out with a thigh injury. Karim Benzema is preferred to Javier Hernandez up front, while Raphael Varane returns to the defence after missing the 5-0 over Levante.
Real have maximum points from their two Champions League games so far, while Liverpool lost to Basel last time out after scraping past Ludogorets with an injury-time penalty from Steven Gerrard.
These sides have met three times before, and Liverpool have won all three with clean sheets to boot. It’s going to be pretty tricky for them to make it a fourth tonight, though, especially as Real are unbeaten in their last three trips to Premier League opposition.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored in their last visit to England when he netted in a 2-1 win over former club Manchester United two seasons ago. He’s scored in five of his last six appearances against Premier League clubs for Real, and who’d bet against him adding to that tonight?
With Liverpool’s defensive record this season, Ronaldo will fancy his chances. That mad game at Loftus Road saw them sneak a 3-2 victory on Sunday but they’ve now conceded 12 top-flight goals this term - the joint-worst defensive record in the top half of the Premier League, along with Manchester United.
'You'll Never Walk Alone' has been belted out around Anfield and now the players are out. The atmosphere is absolutely electric and let's hope the game can live up to the billing. Kick-off is just a few moments away...
That's HALF TIME at Anfield and Real Madrid are 3-0 up at Anfield after Ronaldo's super strike and two from Benzema have blown Liverpool away in the opening 45 minutes.
Liverpool looked good in the opening 20 minutes, pressing well and threatening the visitors, but the intensity died and as soon as Real got more space they made Rodgers' men pay.
Anyone remember the last time Liverpool were 3-0 down at half time in the Champions League? It just happened to be THAT game in Istanbul in 2005. The man in charge of the opposition? Yep, Carlo Ancelotti.
Can Liverpool produce a stunning comeback? Or are the holders going to run riot? Join us shortly for coverage of the second half.
FULL TIME at Anfield and Real Madrid have cruised to a 3-0 win over Liverpool thanks to a first-half blitz with a superb goal from Ronaldo and two more from Karim Benzema. After a bright opening 20 minutes from the hosts, Ancelotti's men never looked back.
That's a third win out of three for Real, while Liverpool have now lost their last two in the Champions League. Ronaldo, meanwhile, moves to within one goal of Raul's all-time goalscoring record in the competition.
Next up for Liverpool is another home game as they host Hull in the Premier League, while Real have the small matter of taking on Barcelona in El Clasico. That's all for tonight, though, so thanks for joining us and goodbye!
