We are into the first of an additional two minutes.
89'
We are coasting towards the final whistle now, with Madrid again in control of the ball. Cornella have given a good account of themselves but the quality of the visitors has seen them through.
87'
Joel Marín gets yellow.
De Tomas turns brightly down the left and gets away from Joel, but the right-back goes in with a rash challenge that earns him a booking.
85'
De Tomas gets up well to connect with a cross from the right, beating Gallar to the ball but sending his header straight into the arms of Segovia.
83'
Medran dribbles from inside his own half, running away from Gomez before firing a shot at goal from 25 yards. It is never in danger of beating Segovia, though, and it bobbles wide of the post.
81'
Chicharito finds space on the right side of the box, cuts back onto his left foot. He tries to clips it to the back post but skews it wide to the other flank!
79'
There are just over 10 minutes remaining for Cornella to try and decrease the deficit. They've got forward on occasions, but Navas has been largely untroubled.
77'
Madrid have been far from convincing this evening, but they look set to take a three-goal cushion back to the Bernabeu in December.
76'
Raúl de Tomás enters the game and replaces K. Benzema.
Álvaro Medrán enters the game and replaces Isco.
Minute
Description
75'
Marcelo has scored a goal for Real Madrid!
GOOOOOOAAAL!! IT IS FOUR! Isco plays a one-two with Benzema and dribbles brilliantly into the box. He fires a shot towards the far corner and Segovia parries it away to his right. However, Marcelo reacts quickest to fire it home at the back post.
73'
Marcelo has to do better there! The Brazilian had a chance to shoot but opted for an ambitious backheel which the keeper thwarts with his legs. He holds his hands up to apologise to his team-mates.
72'
SO CLOSE! Marcelo finds space just inside the right of the box and manages to dig out a cross towards the back post. Hernandez makes a brilliant run through the middle but is unable to supply the final touch for Madrid's fourth!
70'
Luis Gaudioso enters the game and replaces Xemi.
Marcelo cuts inside from his left and looks to bend a shot into the bottom corner, but Gallar manages to block it by flinging a leg at it!
69'
Cornella are enjoying a bit more possession now, with Madrid happy to sit back and take it easy for the remaining 20 minutes. Perhaps they will look to catch them on the break in the latter stages.
67'
The ball breaks kindly for Munoz 25 yards from goal but he hesitates a little too long before pulling the trigger. It allows Nacho to get into position to make an imporatnt block!
65'
Cornella fail to worry Navas from the free kick, and their best chance of the half evaporates. You cannot be sure whether they are going to get a better chance than that!
63'
R. Varane gets yellow.
Xemi lashes a shot at goal from 25 yards and his effort hits Varane's hands on it's way to goal. The referee subsequently awards the hosts a free kick in a great area now!
62'
Joel pushes up on the right and manages to find space for a cross! He fails to pick out a team-mate, though, and bends it comfortably into the arms of Navas.
60'
Ancelotti makes his first change of the game, withdrawing James with Marcelo coming on in his place.
59'
Marcelo enters the game and replaces J. Rodríguez.
58'
James whips in a cross from the left and Chicharito attacks it at the near post. He is unable to connect with the ball as it is a little too high, and Gallar clears it away.
57'
Cornella are being completely dominated now, so Jordi Roger makes his first change with Gallar replacing Pelegri.
56'
Martí Tapia enters the game and replaces Xavi Pelegrí.
Álex Gallar enters the game and replaces Josele Avellaneda.
55'
Chicharito and Benzema are finally starting to get involved in the game and are beginning to link up well in the final third. It contributed to their latest goal and they are beginning to grow in confidence.
53'
GOOOOOOAAAL!! CHICHARITO MAKES IT 3-1! Cornella fail to clear the ball on a couple of occasions and the Mexican is first to it once Benzema is dispossessed. He dribbles into space 20 yards from goal before lashing a low shot across goal and into the bottom corner!
52'
J. Hernández has scored a goal for Real Madrid!
51'
Carvajal is back on and looks fine to continue. Interestingly, he has swapped flanks with Arbeloa so is now playing at right-back.
50'
49'
The second half has begun much as the first ended, with Madrid in control of possession. Carvajal races with Josele and appears to catch his foot on the Cornella man's ankle. He has to go off to receive some treatment.
47'
Benzema receives the ball inside the area and he moves it away from Pelegri, heading away from goal, before spinning and attempting to whip in a cross. It is blocked by the defender and it goes out for a corner which Isco delivers. Madrid fail to make anything of it, though.
46'
We are back underway for the second half!
45'
There is the half-time whistle!
44'
Madrid have had 76% possession so far tonight, but only have a single-goal lead to show for it. A great diagonal pass from Arnau almost finds Xemi inside the box, but he is beaten to the ball by Nacho and he sends it out for a corner.
42'
James dinks a diagonal pass into the centre of the box but it is a little too far behind Chicharito, who fails to steer his header on target.
41'
What is Segovia thinking! The keeper comes miles off his line and just manages to beat Chicharito to the ball, controlling with his chest. He then chases it up and narrowly knocks it away from Isco before the former Malaga man can shoot into a vacant net from distance.
39'
Benzema finds space to poke a shot at goal from the edge of the area but the referee blows his whistle to bring play back for Chicharito's tug on Pelegri.
37'
Poor goalkeeping has cost Cornella there, as Segovia came off his line and was nowhere near beating Varane to that ball. All of their hard work since going behind has been scrapped, but, having scored one, they may feel confident of getting another.
35'
R. Varane has scored a goal for Real Madrid!
James picks the ball up in space on the right, and once more he sends it inside with the outside of his left boot. He was looking for Benzema at the near post but the ball misses him and Segovia has to tip it away for a corner kick.
GOOOOOOAAAL! Isco clips a corner in from the left and Varane beats Segovia to the ball to loop a header into the far corner! Madrid are back in front!
34'
A bit of confusion at the back sees Marti and Xemi both go for Arbeloa's cross, and the latter heads it out for a corner when it could have been sent away. Cornella are doing well to force Madrid out into the wide areas, though.
32'
James clips in a free kick from the right but it is a poor delivery and Josele is first to it, volleying the ball straight back out of the danger area. Madrid have been so sloppy this evening.
31'
Isco passes across the top of the box and James fails to control it. Cornella pounce on the ball and break in numbers. Munoz attempts to play through Josele with a clever backheel but Illarramendi chases back to make a crucial interception.
29'
Munoz goes for goal with his right foot but blazes it far too high of the goal. Navas gets another ball and quickly restarts the play.
28'
Nacho gives away a cheap free kick, pushing Munoz from behind, 25 yards from goal. Can Cornella take advantage of this opportunity?
27'
Cornella finally win the ball inside their own half and look to break quickly by releasing Munoz down the right. He fails to get ahead of Nacho, though he gave him a good run for his money before the ball went out for a throw.
25'
Madrid are asserting themselves once more but they are undoubtedly guilty of a bit of complacency in these early stages. Too many wayward crosses are being pinged into the middle and Cornella are dealing with them well so far.
23'
Claims for a penalty for Madrid! Nacho's near-post header is blocked by the hands of Joel inside the box. He had them up near his face but the officials completely missed it.
22'
Carvajal pushes on down the left and checks back onto his left foot before curling a cross into the box, looking for Benzema. Marti moves across and nods it behind for a corner before the Frenchman can connect, though.
19'
Óscar Muñoz has scored a goal for Cornellà!
Illarramendi sends a weak, low cross towards the near post which looks destined for the grasp of Segovia. Munoz clearly doesn't hear the shout, though, and kicks it out for a corner. James flights it in towards the back post but Nacho's header is nowhere near hitting the target.
GOOOOOOAAAL!! CORNELLA EQUALISE!! A long ball up from the back is headed inside by Joel and Josele helps it down the middle. Munoz uses his body to shield the ball from Arbeloa and spin into space inside the box, before lashing a shot past Navas!
17'
Los Blancos are completely controlling possession now, with Cornella getting everyone back behind the ball. It could be a long night for Munoz, who is having to lead the line alone for the hosts!
15'
Isco has been looking lively so far tonight, drifting inside and igniting the play. He moves the ball out to the left, where James pops up and attempts to swing another cross into the centre. He can only find the arms of Segovia, though.
13'
Arbeloa attempts to whip a cross in from the right but it is blocked by the nearest marker and goes out for a corner. Madrid fail to find another goal from the same set play, as the ball is headed away at the back post.
11'
Ancelotti will be delighted that his side have got off to a quick start. The crowd were already beginning to enjoy the game a little too much for his liking, probably!
9'
R. Varane has scored a goal for Real Madrid!
James clips a great cross into the box with the outside of his left boot, and he finds the late run of Khedira into the centre of the area. The Germany international connects with a header but fails to get the appropriate power or direction to get the better of Segovia.
GOOOOOOAAAL!! VARANE OPENS THE SCORING! James flights in a superb corner which Varane attacks from the back of the box. He gets away from David Garcia and heads the ball into the top corner from the edge of the six-yard box!
7'
The home fans are already enjoying this, shouting "Ole" with every completed pass! A long ball up from the back nearly falls for Munoz but he is unable to get it down under pressure from Nacho.
5'
Chicharito picks up the ball on the right and cuts inside onto his left foot. He attempts to ping a pass across the pitch but it is rather poor, and Carvajal, who is playing at left-back, has to sprint back towards his own half to stop it from going out for a throw.
3'
James and Isco attempt a give-and-go in midfield but the Colombian is unable to control the return pass. Cornella look to counter quickly but the ball down the left for Josele is dealt with by Varane.
1'
We are underway!
Pelegri gets the first shot on target away, but his weak effort from 20 yards dribbles comfortably into the arms of Navas. A bright start from los Verdes.
Hello and welcome to tonight's LIVE commentary as Real Madrid get their Copa del Rey defence underway with a visit to Barcelona to face third-tier outfit Cornella. The hosts have borrowed neighbours Espanyol's Estadi Cornella-El Prat in order to try and maximise revenue from this first leg meeting in the fourth round. My name is Tom Webber, and I will be guiding you through all the action.
These two sides have never met before and it is difficult to see Cornella getting anything out of the game. Real Madrid are currently on a nine-game winning streak, with their two latest victories coming over Barcelona and Liverpool. Cornella, who won promotion last season, meanwhile, are currently seventh in their first ever season as a Segunda B side.
Real Madrid (4-4-2): Navas; Carvajal, Varane, Nacho, Arbeloa; James, Khedira, Illarramendi, Isco; Chicharito, Benzema.
Real Madrid substitutes: Pacheco, Jaime, Marcelo, Medran, De Tomas.
Carlo Ancelotti rotates his squad slightly but leaves in enough quality to still field a very convincing line-up. Marcelo is the only established first team player on the bench, though.
The match was brought forward due to Madrid’s involvement in the Club World Cup, with the second leg not due to take place until December. We are a little over five minutes away from kick off, so stay tuned!
Barcelona and Spain international left-back Jordi Alba spent nearly two years with Cornella as a youth player before moving to Valencia!
HALF TIME - Cornella 1-2 Real Madrid: Los Blancos take the lead into the break thanks to a double from Raphael Varane, but Oscar Munoz managed to equalise before the Frenchman found his second. Madrid have dominated possession but have been far from convincing, so be sure to stick around for the second half!
FULL TIME - Cornella 1-4 Real Madrid: Los Blancos suffered an early shock as Munoz cancelled out Varane's opener, but the Frenchman popped up with another soon after. Hernandez and Marcelo added to the score in the second half as they coasted to a first-leg lead.
That is all from me, Tom Webber, for this evening. Thanks for joining me.
