We are into three minutes of stoppage time, and Wolfsburg are still trying to find a goal to bring them back into it, but De Bruyne's latest effort is curled over the crossbar.
90'
JUST WIDE! Perisic has deserved a goal tonight, and he almost pulls one back as he cuts inside from the right, only for Jagielka to deflect the ball narrowly wide with Howard beaten.
88'
GOAL!? NO, OFFSIDE! Barkley thinks he has made it 3-0 with a fine curling finish after Atsu's path, but the offside flag is again up and the England youngster is denied.
87'
GREAT SAVE! The ball will just not go in for Wolfsburg as Howard again makes a superb stop. Arnold drives the ball from the edge of the area, but the goalkeeper gets down to his left to tip the ball onto the post.
85'
The game's tempo has slumped somewhat with Everton looking to see it out and Wolfsburg struggling to find the belief that they can get back into this one.
83'
C. Atsu enters the game and replaces Kevin Mirallas.
Everton make their third and final change as Mirallas is replaced by Atsu for the closing stages.
81'
Wolfsburg are still doing all they can to get back into this one, but it is looking increasingly likely that they will have to go to Lille on matchday six and avoid defeat if they are to qualify for the knockout stages.
79'
Lukaku has been superb tonight and he again leaves Naldo for dead before looking for Barkley, but his pass is weak. The striker may have hurt himself going on that run, and Martinez may think about a change to preserve his forward.
77'
Olic and Arnold were brought on in the aftermath of Mirallas' goal, and th former is straight into the action, though his shot is straight at Howard. Only the Everton fans can be heard now as they celebrate their progression into the next round.
75'
Kevin Mirallas has scored a goal for Everton! Assist by R. Lukaku.
M. Arnold enters the game and replaces A. Hunt.
I. Olić enters the game and replaces N. Bendtner.
GOAL!!! MIRALLAS MAKES IT 2-0! Everton have been lethal on the counterattack, and Lukaku and Mirallas combine again to great effect. The former shows great strength to hold the ball up before slipping a fine pass into Mirallas' path, and the Belgium winger passes the ball past Benaglio into the net.
Minute
Description
74'
GOOD SAVE! Howard is again proving Everton's hero against Wolfsburg as he pulls off another fine save. This time it is Schafer who tries his luck with a 35-yard drive, but the goalkeeper watches it carefully and pushes the ball away.
73'
R. Barkley enters the game and replaces S. Eto'o.
M. Bešić gets yellow.
72'
Martinez makes second change of the night as Eto'o is replaced by Barkley for the final 18 minutes.
71'
McGeady looks to break into the box but Gustavo is strong in the challenge and nicks the ball off the Everton man. No luck for the former Celtic winger tonight.
69'
Schafer again finds space to whip in a cross from the left-hand side, and Bendtner looks to flick it goalwards, but his effort bounces harmlessly wide of the post.
67'
Lukaku has been excellent when he has got on the ball, and he shows good strength again to work the ball back to Eto'o on the edge of the box, but his shot is poor and goes well over the crossbar.
65'
GREAT SAVE! Perisic is coming to life now and he almost finds the equaliser. The Croatia international shows great feet to shift the ball onto his left foot before shooting from 25 yards, and Howard does well to tip it around the post.
64'
Wolfsburg make their first change of the night as Caligiuri replaces Malanda in what is an attacking substitution by the hosts.
63'
D. Caligiuri enters the game and replaces B. Malanda.
JUST WIDE! Perisic has been a bit quiet in this second half, but he does well to stand Hibbert up before cutting inside and hitting a low effort that goes narrowly wide of Howard's near post.
61'
HOW HAS MCGEADY MISSED!? Everton should be 2-0 up, and McGeady cannot believe it. The chance comes about after Benaglio does well to keep out Lukaku's drive, but the Ireland winger can only lob the ball over the bar with the goal gaping.
59'
The hosts continue to dominate possession and territory, with Lukaku again isolated up front. But with a one-goal lead, the Toffees will not mind that for now.
58'
I. Perišić gets yellow.
57'
GOAL!? NO, OFFSIDE! Yet again the linesman denies Wolfsburg as Bendtner heads in at the back post after Perisic's flick-on. The officials have got that one right, though Perisic is not happy and is booked for dissent.
56'
GOOD SAVE! De Bruyne has been a real threat and he almost finds an equaliser following a fine run down the right flank. The Belgium international leaves Distin for dead, but his low shot is kept out by Howard's feet.
55'
The Everton fans find their voices again as their team continue to be difficult to break down. As the game gets more stretched they will be confident of adding to their lead given their attacking talent.
53'
Hunt picks up the ball in space around 25 yards from goal and turns inside onto his left foot before hitting a powerful shot. It is straight at Howard, however, and the goalkeeper catches well.
51'
Martinez seems to have had a word with McGeady at half-time, with the winger working much harder to help Hibbert out with Perisic and Schafer. The right-back really struggled in the first half and requires more defensive cover in front of him.
49'
As with the first half, Wolfsburg are seeing plenty of the ball without testing Howard as yet. Everton more than happy to allow them to keep possession in midfield for now.
47'
Besic concedes a free-kick wide on the right, and Hunt looks to lay it back to De Bruyne on the edge of the box. The former Chelsea man cannot keep his shot down and it flies over the crossbar.
46'
No changes for either side at the break, and Everton kick-off to get matter back underway...
45' +2
Luiz Gustavo gets yellow.
Gustavo becomes the first man to go into the referee's book as he trips Mirallas as the winger looks to break forward. No complaints from the Brazil midfielder.
45'
Eto'o requires some treatment after being caught on his shin, and we are about to enter one minute of stoppage time. That may well be added to after the injury to the former Barcelona man.
43'
R. Lukaku has scored a goal for Everton! Assist by Kevin Mirallas.
GOAL!!! LUKAKU BREAKS THE DEADLOCK! Everton counterattack brilliantly to take the lead. Osman finds Mirallas midway inside the visitors' half, and he in turn feeds Lukaku. The striker looks to have lost the ball to Malanda, only to break away from his compatriot and slot a fine finish past Benaglio. The Toffees' supporters are in raptures.
41'
Everton are holding out well as the half-time break approaches, and if they can get back into the dressing room without conceding they will be very pleased with how the opening 45 minutes have gone.
39'
In comparison to Schafer, Vieirinha has been quiet in forward areas from right-back, but he tests Howard here after cutting inside around 20 yards from goal. The shot is straight at the goalkeeper, though, and he holds on with ease.
37'
Yet another Schafer ball comes in from the left-hand side, but no Wolfsburg player gambles to get into the six-yard box and Howard can watch it drift out of play.
35'
GOOD SAVE! Mirallas comes to life for the first time in the match as he cuts inside from the left before unleashing a shot from 25 yards that Benaglio has to push over the bar. Better from the visitors.
34'
De Bruyne wins a corner on the right-hand side, and the former Chelsea man takes it himself. His set-piece is aimed towards the near post but Perisic cannot direct his header and it flies well wide.
32'
Hibbert is being given the runaround on the left-hand side and yet again Perisic and Schafer combine for the latter to swing in a cross, but there is no one there to get on the end of it.
31'
L. Osman enters the game and replaces J. McCarthy.
30'
McCarthy has not recovered from that earlier injury, and he is again down in the centre of the field. Martinez does not want to take anymore risks with the midfielder, and Osman is on in his place.
28'
Everton have seen just 43 per cent of the ball in the first half so far, with Lukaku becoming very isolated up front on his own. Eto'o has seen little of the ball since the early stages with Wolfsburg starting to dominate in all areas.
26'
Bendtner shows good strength to win a free-kick from McGeady around 35 yards from goal, but Naldo's effort is always going over the crossbar and Howard can just watch it fly over the top.
24'
Garbutt has shown no nerves on his European debut and does well to bring the ball down inside his own box before going on a driving run to the halfway line. With Baines missing, Everton will need an attacking threat from the full-back.
22'
GOAL!? NO, OFFSIDE! After De Bruyne has a shot deflected wide of the post, the resulting corner leads to some pinball in the box. Eventually Bendtner flicks the ball goalwards before Perisic taps in, but the flag is up. Replays suggest that was the wrong call from the official, with Jagielka level with the Croatia international.
21'
The home fans are making a tremendous noise as we move towards the midway point in the first half. They know how important this match is to their team's chances in this competition.
19'
After that glut of chances at both ends, the game has developed into a battle in midfield over the last few minutes. Besic especially is looking to make life difficult for the Wolfsburg players and has made a number of fine challenges.
17'
Some concern for the visitors as McCarthy limps off, but after receving some treatment the midfielder is able to continue. With Barry missing, Martinez needs the former Wigan man to be at his best tonight.
15'
GOOD SAVE! Chances at both ends as Hunt lines up a shot from 20 yards that Howard has to watch carefully and tip behind for a corner. There are certainly goals in this one.
14'
OFF THE CROSSBAR! Almost the opener for Everton now as Distin gets on the end of a left-wing corner and heads down into the ground. The ball bounces over Benaglio but comes back off the crossbar. The tempo has gone up a notch in the last few minutes.
12'
JUST WIDE! Wolfsburg go close as a ball from the right-hand side splits the Everton defence, and Perisic is able to get in behind unchallenged. The pass is always running away from him though, and he can only poke his shot wide under pressure from Howard.
10'
Finally Lukaku sees some of the ball following a pass from McGeady, but the striker cannot keep hold of it. Everton are able to maintain the pressure, though, and Eto'o curls a cross from the left narrowly wide of the post as it evades everyone.
8'
The hosts continue to dominate possession in midfield, but Howard is yet to be tested in the Everton goal. After making a number of saves in the reverse fixture, the USA international will be hoping for a quieter evening tonight.
6'
All of Wolfsburg's attacks are coming down the left-hand side, with Schafer and Perisic looking to double up on Hibbert. McGeady needs to track back and help his full-back with the German side obviously sensing a weakness.
4'
Everton are struggling to gain any possession in midfield early on, with Besic and McCarthy being put under plenty of pressure. With Eto'o and Lukaku further forward, the hosts do want the ball to find the attacking players in the final third.
2'
Wolfsburg create an early chance as McGeady misplaces a defensive header, and after Schafer picks the ball up, Perisic flashes a cross from the left right along the face of the goal. Bendtner cannot get on the end of it, though, and it flies out for a throw-in.
1'
The usual pre-match niceties are over, and Wolfsburg kick-off to get us underway...
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Europa League encounter between Wolfsburg and Everton. Both teams are on the verge of qualification for the knockout stages, with a victory for either tonight enough to seal their placed in the last 32 with a match to spare. I'm Tom Maston and I'll be guiding you through all the action from Germany.
The Toffees have enjoyed their return to European competition for the first time in four seasons, as they sit top of Group H having won two and drawn two of their four matches. Roberto Martinez's side are unbeaten in seven games, and if they avoid defeat this evening they will reach the last 32. A win would see them finish as group winners.
Wolfsburg, meanwhile, have enjoyed a fine run of form themselves, with their defeat against Schalke bringing a run of eight successive victories to an end. Dieter Hecking's side will reach the next round with a win tonight, though anything less could see them requiring a result when they visit Lille on matchday six.
Before we go any further, the two team line-ups have been announced ahead of kick-off in around 20 minutes...
Everton hand just a second start to left-back Luke Garbutt, with Tony Hibbert reverting to the right-hand side. Elsewhere Ross Barkley and Leon Osman must make do with places on the bench alongside Arouna Kone, who has been out injured for 13 months but made a return for the Under-21s earlier in the week. Steven Naismith is ruled out after being forced off against West Ham on Saturday.
Wolfsburg are without left-back Ricardo Rodriguez, meaning Marcel Schafer comes into the defence while Niklas Bendtner is handed a start up front after scoring five goals in his last four appearances for club and country. Croatia forward Ivica Olic is only a substitute but offers a dangerous attacking option from the bench.
Temperatures have plummetted inside the Volkswagen Arena, but the supporters are beginning to make their way into the stadium. Plenty have travelled from Merseyside hoping to see Everton book their place in the next round, meaning there should be a fantastic atmosphere.
The players have made their way into the tunnel, and we are now just moments from getting underway in Germany. Can one of Bundesliga's form teams maintain their fine home form, or will the Toffees secure their first away win of the competition? We're about to find out...
The players have made their way onto the field, and the home fans are creating a great atmosphere with plenty of flags on show. With the Everton supporters also in great voice, their is a special European atmosphere ahead of kick-off.
The half-time whistle blows, and Everton will be thrilled with the way the first half has gone. They have come under plenty of pressure, but having held firm, Lukaku has given them the lead with a fine counterattacking goal.
Wolfsburg will be reeling from Perisic's disallowed goal that really should have stood, but they will be confident of getting back into this one given the chances they have created. I'll be back in ten minutes to see if they can get back into the match.
The players are making their way back onto the field knowing that, because of Krasnodar's draw with Lille, Everton have now qualified for the knockout stages. The Toffees will now look to close out the win and try to top the group while Wolfsburg just need a point to reach the last 32.
The full-time whistle blows, and Everton qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League as group winners. Despite Wolfsburg's dominance, the Toffees were ruthless on the counterattack and deserved their victory.
Wolfsburg lose for the second time in a week following their seven-match winning run, and must now pick up at least a point against Lille to qualify alongside Everton. For now, though, I've been Tom Maston and thanks for joining me.
