Farcical scenes in Istanbul. The floodlights have gone out once again in stoppage time, bringing play to a halt.
There is still technically a minute-and-a-half left and, with Spurs still chasing a draw which could change a lot, the referee is seemingly unwilling to draw an early end to the match, and understandably so.
The lights are back on, with play set to continue.
90'
There will be three minutes of added time here.
88'
Well, that wasn't much better. The free-kick delivery at least beats the first man as it is aimed towards Kaboul at the back post. But the Frenchman had given up before the ball even entered the area, with the kick going straight out for a goal-kick.
87'
Free-kick for Spurs in a good position out on the right now. Lennon is hauled over in an advanced area, with Townsend heading over to take. Hopefully for Spurs' sake he can muster a better delivery than Paulinho.
85'
Well, it isn't Uysal going off just yet, anyway. Tore, who has had a good game on the right, heads off and is replaced by Koybasi.
84'
İ. Köybaşı enters the game and replaces G. Töre.
We are back underway now, though it remains to be seen whether Uysal will continue out there. Besiktas are readying a change nonetheless.
82'
Brief pause in play now as Uysal receives treatment. The midfield was landed on by Lamela, whose forearms appeared to make contact with the Turk's head.
81'
Besiktas catch Spurs on the counter again. Tore bursts away from Capoue and races into the visitors' half, drawing Kaboul to him in the process. The winger slips Sahan down the right, but his first touch is poor and his eventual cross goes over the goal.
80'
More impressive play by the hosts. Sahan gets down the right flank and finds himself behind Rose. He curls a cross into the area and it is a decent delivery, though Kaboul does well to cut it out.
Minute
Description
78'
Besiktas are doing a good job of keeping the ball in the attacking third at the moment. Tore, Tosun and Frei are enjoying themselves out there currently. The former shows quick feet to jink past Capoue over towards the right, but his eventual shot is blocked by Kaboul.
76'
É. Capoue enters the game and replaces K. Walker.
Here comes Spurs' final change of the day. Walker heads off, with Capoue his replacement. Stambouli looks as though he will slot in at right-back.
74'
And there is another prime example of Besiktas threatening on the break. The hosts exploit Rose's poor position, as he is caught up field. Sosa gets forward and cuts into the area, beating Chiriches in the process. But his left-footed shot is slices over.
73'
It's all Spurs at the moment. The away side are dictating the play, probing the Besiktas defence for an opening to exploit. They have so far been unsuccessful, while the hosts have been very good on the break.
71'
Excellent move by the visitors. Lamela plays the ball across the edge of the area and Lennon cleverly flicks it into the area for Chadli. The Belgian produces a fine turn to open up space for himself, with a shot at goal looking certain. But the offside flag goes up - incorrectly - against the latter.
70'
A. Lennon enters the game and replaces Paulinho.
Here come a couple of Spurs changes. Paulinho and Soldado go off, with Lamela and Lennon entering the pitch.
69'
É. Lamela enters the game and replaces Soldado.
HUGE LET-OFF FOR SPURS! Besiktas are looking deadly on the break at the moment. Frei finds himself running at the Spurs area and he links up well with Tosun, playing a clever one-two. The former Fulham races on to the return pass, but he fires into the side-netting when one-on-one with Vorm. What a waste.
67'
Effective play by Spurs down the right this time. Townsend cuts in and on his right foot, before floating a good delivery into the area. Soldado nods the ball on and then Chadli flicks it on too. Kaboul tries to get on the end of it, but he can't quite reach it.
65'
SO CLOSE FOR SOLDADO! The previous passage of play ends with Spurs winning a corner and, from the resulting delivery, the ball drops kindly for the Spanish striker. But, while falling backwards, his half-volleyed effort flies just wide.
64'
Good play by Spurs as they work the ball forward and Soldado eventually finds himself in possession in the area, but he is blocked by Zengin from point-blank range.
63'
Serdar Kurtulus finds himself in a bit of trouble here. He catches Townsend with a fairly high foot, though he escapes any real punishment.
61'
Well, as it now stands, Besiktas will go through to the knockout phase as Group C winners, thus seeing them avoid all of the teams set to drop down from the Champions League. Considering how experienced his starting XI was, Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt be very irritated by Spurs' current situation.
59'
C. Tosun has scored a goal for Besiktas! Assist by O. Şahan.
THE CROSSBAR SAVE SPURS! What an incredible strike from Tosun! Kaboul indulges in some ball juggling about 30 yards from his own goal after bringing down a lofted pass. Tosun pounces and sends a half-volley flying towards goal, but it comes back off the goal frame. Brilliant effort.
GOAL!!! BESIKTAS HAVE THE LEAD! Against the run-of-play, the home side break the deadlock! Tore picks out Sahan with a delightful pass to the back post, with the recipient knocking the ball into the danger area. Tosun, who missed just a minute ago, is on hand to steer home.
57'
Besiktas have seemingly gone backwards in the second half. They offered more of an attacking threat before half-time than they have since, with Spurs still looking the more likely to break the deadlock. A win for Besiktas will secure top spot for them, but they don't look like they'll be disappointing the visitors here today.
55'
Excellent play against by Rose. He races free down the left and crosses into the centre, this time from a more advanced position. No Spurs players can get a touch, though the goalkeeper makes a bit of a mess of it, parrying it away rather than catching it.
53'
Spurs have put in a decent display so far today, though some of Paulinho's set-piece deliveries have left a lot to be desired. Another one, a corner this time, fails to beat the first man, much to the annoyance of his team-mates.
51'
Good play by Rose. The left-back gets forward up the flank, holds off one man and then gets into the final third. He squeezes a low delivery into the danger area and, although it is deflected behind, the ball does go too far wide of the goal and Zengin looked would have been well-beaten.
49'
Good pressing from the front by Tosun as he chases down Kaboul, forces him into the corner and then blocks his clearance. Unfortunately for Besiktas, though, the ball crashes against the forward and goes for a goal-kick.
47'
There is the first shot of the second half as Kurtulus is invited forward from his right-back and he tries his luck from distance, sending a left-footed effort well over the crossbar from about 30 yards.
46'
A. Nukan enters the game and replaces E. Gülüm.
We are back underway for the second half.
Besiktas have made one change at the break. Gulum has gone off to be replaced by the giant Nukan.
45'
HALF-TIME!
43'
This half is petering to a fairly sleepy halt at the moment. There's lots of huffing and puffing, though there is very little substance in the play. Hopefully the second half will provide a marked improvement.
41'
Lovely footwork from Frei out on the right. He is surrounded by a couple of Spurs defenders out wide, but he beats them brilliantly with a clever pirouette. He is swiftly tripped over, though the referee refuses to award a free-kick.
40'
Stambouli is having an assured match so far. The Frenchman is using the ball well and making some well-timed interceptions and tackles. On this occasion he is penalised for backing into Frei, although it did look a harsh decision.
38'
Free-kick out on the right for Besiktas now, as Tore is barged over in the air by Paulinho, who manages to escape a yellow card. This is a good opportunity for the hosts to potentially build an attack here.
36'
This is very much being played like a match which includes two teams who have already qualified. Besiktas don't look particularly interested, while Spurs look a little livelier, although they too appear to be playing in third gear.
34'
Besiktas are doing their best to play intricate passing football in the centre, with Sosa, Tore and Frei all looking lively. But the pitch really isn't helping them. The surface is cutting up so much at the moment, and that is playing into the hands of Spurs, who are playing more direct.
32'
Spurs are carving through Besiktas with ease, though. Townsend does very well as he drops deep and plays a reverse pass into the danger area for Soldado, who then tries to pick out a team-mate in the goalmouth. Besiktas clear in desperate fashion, though.
30'
BESIKTAS GO CLOSE! Good play by Sahan as the midfielder charges forward and gets into the Spurs area. His first shot is blocked, but he quickly pounces on the loose ball again, before seeing a right-footed effort curl just over.
28'
Besiktas are struggling to put together any meaningful moves at the moment, partly down to Spurs' insistence on committing fouls. That tactic is proving effective at the moment, though the yellow card will start to come out eventually.
26'
Chadli has the ball in the net, though the whistle had long since gone. The midfielder seemingly strayed just offside, before producing a clever finish past Zengin. Spurs are looking the more inventive at the moment.
24'
Well, Dembele finally shakes off his shackles. The Belgian slips a fine pass through into the danger area for Soldado, who had peeled away to the right side of the area. The Spaniard gets a shot away, although Gulum blocks it.
22'
Dembele is not really having a particularly great game out there so far. His passing has been a little sloppy, while he is struggling to make his presence felt on the ball.
21'
E. Gülüm gets yellow.
20'
Excellent defending from Kaboul. Besiktas look to catch Spurs on the counter and Tore links well with Sosa, playing the Argentinian into the area. He initially holds off the Frenchman, though the defender eventually overpowers his opponent and takes the ball away.
18'
There is not a lot going for Besiktas at the moment. They steal possession back in the middle and eye a counterattack, but the move comes to a swift end as Sahan's pass out to the left completely misses Frei and earns Spurs a throw-in.
16'
BESIKTAS ESCAPE! Kaboul rises highest to meet Paulinho's free-kick at the back post. He nods the ball back into the danger zone and Soldado makes contact with it, though he scuffs his effort and Zengin saves.
15'
Free-kick for Spurs now in the final third after Dembele was brought down from behind by Tore. This is a good opportunity for the visitors, who have started well here.
13'
Besiktas have grown into this, but Spurs still look the more dangerous. On this occasion Chadli manages to find space between the two right-sided defenders and gets a left-footed shot away, but it is easy for Zengin to scoop up.
11'
Spurs are immediately down the other end and win themselves a corner. Paulinho whips in the delivery and Chiriches meets it with a near-post flick-on, but neither Kaboul nor Soldado and the back can direct it goalwards.
10'
Well, there is the match's first attempt on goal. Besiktas win themselves a corner and an out-swinging delivery is fired in from the left by Sosa. Gulum comes across and meets it with a glancing header, though it is easy for Vorm to collect.
9'
Well that isn't helpful. With play still going on, all of the lights in the stadium go out. All the fans appear quite entertained as they continue jumping around and get their phone lights out. But the referee is now ordering the players down the tunnel, with play suspended until the situation is resolved.
The players are back out on the pitch and warming up again. Proceedings should re-start once again very shortly.
Off we go. Play starts again with a Besiktas throw-in on the left.
7'
Excellent spell of superiority for Spurs. Chadli finds himself at the centre of things out on the left, as he exploits space behind the Besiktas defence. The Belgian crosses into the area, though his delivery is just a little too far ahead of Soldado.
6'
Good move out on the left by Spurs. Stambouli links well with Rose, before picking out Soldado. The Spaniard looks out to the left-back, who crosses first-time towards Chadli. Gulum covers well, though, cutting the delivery out.
5'
Spurs are seeing a lot of the early possession. The visitors are stroking the ball around confidently in the middle, with the jeers from the home support becoming increasingly louder by the second. Nevertheless, this spell on the ball isn't seeing them get anywhere near the penalty area.
3'
Spurs almost played themselves into a sticky situation there. Chiriches came over to the left to sweep up and he tries to trick his way past Sosa. The Argentinian steals the ball and then looks to get into the area, though the Tottenham defender recovers well.
1'
Off we go! The hosts get us started in Istanbul.
Hello and welcome to the LIVE text commentary of the UEFA Europa League clash between Besiktas and Tottenham. The Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul is the setting for today's clash as these two sides go head-to-head for first place in Group C. My name is Ryan Benson and I shall be describing the action for you today.
Tottenham starting XI (4-2-3-1): Vorm; Walker, Chiriches, Kaboul, Rose; Dembele, Stambouli; Townsend, Paulinho, Chadli; Soldado.
Tottenham subs: Lloris, Lennon, Lamela, Fazio, Capoue, Davies, Onomah.
Thankfully for Besiktas coach Slaven Bilic, his side - like Spurs - are already through to the next round of the competition. The Croatian has had to contend with a host of injuries in the build-up to today's game, with Demba Ba, Oguzhan Ozyakup, Mustafa, Pektemek and Veli Kavlak all missing. Nevertheless, those filling their respective places will be keen to impress, as a victory secures top spot for the Turks.
On the other side of the pitch, Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham line-up includes a bit of rotation as the likes of Michel Vorm, Vlad Chiriches, Younes Kaboul, Benjamin Stambouli and Paulinho all start, while there is a first start since March 13, a 3-1 home defeat by finalists Benfica in this very competition. Hugo Lloris, Federico Fazio, a winner of the Europa League last term, Erik Lamela and Aaron Lennon all take places on the bench.
As things stand going into this match, Tottenham sit top of Group C with 11 points after winning three and drawing two of their five games so far. Thanks to being unbeaten, Spurs sit two points ahead of today's opponents, though a first defeat in Istanbul will see Bilic's men take top spot for their own, meaning they will avoid all of the teams due to drop down from the Champions League in the next round.
The players are now out on the pitch as kick-off approaches.
The referee blows his whistle to end a fairly unremarkable first half in Istanbul, in which the blackout was probably the most exciting part. Group leaders Spurs have been the livelier of the two sides, with Soldado's movement causing Besiktas several problems. Nevertheless, it remains goalless at the Ataturk, with the home side offering very little in an attacking sense. Hopefully the second period will provide a little more excitement, because so far this has been predictably muted.
About half-an-hour later than expected, the referee blows his whistle to finally end this match. Besiktas claim a slender 1-0 win over Tottenham, securing top spot in Group C as a result, but this fairly unremarkable match will only really be remembered for the two halts in play, with the stadium's electrics team hardly covering themselves in glory.
Thanks for joining me today. I hope you've enjoyed the action. Farewell until next time.
