IT'S ALL OVER! The hosts steal the game from their opponents who will be left with a very bad taste in their mouth for squandering it so late.
90' +3
Into the third of four minutes of stoppage time and the visitors have a corner as they chase the game now. Kirkland is up as a last resort, but City deal with it. Silva ends up with the ball and he sends Navas forward. The winger gets into the attacking half, but a tame effort at goal is kept out by Lees.
90' +1
J. Milner has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by David Silva.
THERE IT IS! SO HARSH ON THE OWLS, BUT CITY SNATCH IT AT THE DEATH!
It is James Milner again who gets the goal, showing a tremendous work rate to get into the centre and tap home Silva's low cross from close range. Sheffield Wednesday were playing a very dangerous game and they have finally been made to pay.
90'
ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT SAVE! Nasri somehow keeps the ball in the area under pressure from three defenders, and lays it off for Silva. The midfielder tries to slot it in at the far post, but Kirkland extends all of his six foot, five inch frame to punch it away!
88'
It is a corner for City with two minutes left as Maguire gets the slightest touch on a Silva cross to usher the ball behind. Again the delivery is dealt with by the visitors, who look to break on a counter, but end up giving the ball back straight away.
86'
There is still time for City to turn this around, but at this stage it would be incredibly harsh on their opponents. Wednesday continue to defend admirably, which is making life incredibly difficult on the hosts who cannot seem to find a way in behind.
85'
R. McCabe enters the game and replaces C. Dielna.
84'
Loovens has been a brick wall at the back for Wednesday and another vital contribution from him helps keep City out. Navas dribbles into space on the right and sends a teasing ball across the face of goal, but the centre-back slides in front of it to send it behind for a corner.
82'
The pressure being applied by the Sky Blues is relentless. They are desperate to find a winning goal, having little to no interest in having to take part in a replay.
80'
Toure wins a free kick to the right of the Owls' penalty area, from 25 yards out. Silva delivers in with his dangerous left foot, but this time he fails to set up a teammate as his cross is headed clear by the first defender at the near post. Another chance wasted for the hosts.
Minute
Description
78'
WONDERFUL DEFENDING! Wednesday break on a very promising counter, and Lavery is through with two against one. The substitute holds on just a bit too long, and Navas shows great desire as he tracks all the way back to slide in and break up the chance.
76'
STAT ATTACK: Manchester City’s sixth round loss to Wigan in the FA Cup last season ended a string of six consecutive victories at The Etihad in the competition, which saw them outscore their opponents 23-2 over that span.
75'
G. Clichy enters the game and replaces A. Kolarov.
C. Maguire enters the game and replaces A. Nuhiu.
74'
WHY IS HE NOT SHOOTING?! Superb run from Milner who gets in behind the defence, and has a glorious chance to put City in front, but he instead tries for a cutback pass. There is no one lurking near the top of the area for the hosts, as the danger is cleared.
72'
STUNNING! Milner's work rate has been superb and he nearly is rewarded again. The winger makes a magnificent run into the box and gets in behind the defence, but a last-ditch tackle from Lees is enough to send the ball behind for a corner.
70'
SIDE NETTING! Toure is far too nonchalant in midfield which allows the visitors to win the ball back in a threatening position. They push forward and Nuhiu picks out Palmer in the area. The right back gets around Caballero, but sends his shot into the side netting from a very tight angle.
68'
The goal seems to have deflated Wednesday just a bit, but has had even more of an effect on City, who have seen their frustrations alleviated. Their energy level is through the roof now as they push forward in possession and chase down every loose ball with authority.
66'
C. Lavery enters the game and replaces S. May.
J. Milner has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by David Silva.
CITY FINALLY HAVE THEIR BREAKTHROUGH AND IT'S GAME ON AT THE ETIHAD!
The two substitutes link up in the build up, and that is exactly the influence Pellegrini was hoping for. Nasri dribbles his way along the left, before picking out Silva atop the area. The Spaniard sends it splendidly into the path of Milner with his first touch, and the winger makes no mistake to pull the hosts level!
64'
STAT ATTACK: Samir Nasri has scored three goals in his last four appearances in the FA Cup for Manchester City.
62'
The free kick is finally taken, and it is right in the wheelhouse of Toure. This time, however, he cannot bend his attempt around the wall as his shot is blocked and cleared.
61'
S. Nasri enters the game and replaces S. Jovetić.
David Silva enters the game and replaces F. Lampard.
Jovetic does well to win a free kick near the top of the area, and that will be his last contribution of the match as the striker, along with Lampard, make way for two new faces for Manchester City. Can they provide the spark that is so desperately needed?
60'
Navas does well to win a corner, but the Owls deal with it. City keep the pressure on, but cannot pick out a final pass, before being forced to retreat all the way back to Caballero, which elicits the loudest boos of the night from the supporters.
58'
Well, it's the jeers now which are being uttered by the home supporters, who have had about enough. Pellegrini shares those sentiments, as David Silva and Samir Nasri make their way to the touchline, and will enter the match at the next stoppage.
56'
Relentless pressure is being applied by the hosts as momentum starts to build. The crowd is buzzing in anticipation, as they pass it around at the edge of the area. Sagna twice fails to provide a good ball into the area, but City keep on the pressure. Finally, Navas' through ball has no one on the end of it as it rolls safely behind for a goal kick.
54'
City have really upped their sense of urgency, but they can find no way through in the final third, with Wednesday defending admirably. Loovens and Lees have been magnificent, keeping everything in front of them and playing Jovetic offside on a number of occasions.
52'
STAT ATTACK: These two teams met in the third round of the Capital One Cup in September, at The Etihad, with Manchester City running riot to the tune of a 7-0 victory. All seven goals came in the second half of the match.
50'
PENALTY APPEALS NOT GIVEN! A late challenge by Kolarov on Palmer gives the visitors a free kick from 40 yards out. The right-back delivers, and Nuhiu heads the ball into the path of Lee who goes down in the area, but Mark Oliver is having none of it.
48'
Pellegrini has tweaked his team, without making a change, it looks like. Yaya Toure seems to have taken up Frank Lampard's number 10 role, with the ex-Chelsea midfielder drifting into a deeper-lying role alongside Fernando.
46'
Manchester City get the second half underway. They have not made any changes at the break, but with the substitutes spending the break warming up, Pellegrini will not wait long to mix up his team if they cannot respond soon enough.
45' +3
That's it! Referee Mark Oliver sounds his whistle as we head to the break with the Championship side in front!
45' +1
L. Palmer gets yellow.
Liam Palmer becomes the first player of the match to be booked, but it is a good yellow card to take from his standpoint. Toure was charging through the centre on a counter, and it would have set up a real chance if he managed to get past the right-back.
45'
There will be three minutes of added time. Can Manchester City make it count?
44'
Nuhiu brings a ball down just inside his own half, and does well to hold off a couple of defenders before winning a free kick. That should allow the visitors to see this lead to half time, depending on what amount of stoppage time we see.
42'
Into the final few minutes of the first half and City have shown very little to make the fans think they can mount a comeback. They certainly have it in them, and realistically have the firepower to go from 1-0 down to 2-1 up in a matter of minutes, but at the moment it is hard to see that side of them.
40'
Yaya Toure has grown increasingly frustrated, and will have to be careful here. He is called for a foul on Dielna and throws his arms up in disgust. He has challenged Oliver on a few occasions and that attitude will warrant him a yellow card sooner rather than later.
38'
Superb tackle from Fernando! The midfielder tracks back to slide into the feet of Maghoma at the vital moment to prevent a shot and perhaps a second Owls goal. The midfielder linked up well with Nuhiu to cause City some problems at the back - a common theme in this first half.
36'
The groans from the home supporters is the loudest we have heard them all day. The traveling fans have been tremendous, making all the noise and helping to boost their team. Finally the City fans are realizing the embarrassment of this, as they begin to get behind their team to try and prevent another shock FA Cup exit.
34'
SUPERB SAVE! It means nothing in the end, as the flag came up late for offside, but Kirkland does so well to keep this ball out. Navas shows his pace, running at the defence before cutting into the centre. He slips Jovetic through on goal, but the keeper gets off his line and makes himself big, keeping out the shot.
32'
SHOCKING! The Etihad erupts in boos as Mark Oliver lets a clear foul go unpunished just outside the Sheffield Wednesday penalty area. Jovetic made a nice run before being taken down atop the box, and gets up in disgust as play is waved on. It comes to a halt less than a minute later as Yaya Toure is called for a questionable foul. The Ivorian gets up and lashes out at Oliver for his lack of home support, we shall say.
30'
STAT ATTACK: The two sides have been drawn together five times in domestic cup competition, with Manchester City advancing on each occasion.
28'
Claude Dielna escapes without a caution after going in late and hard at the feet of Fernando. The midfielder is down and in some pain, with his teammates begging for a sending off, but referee Mark Oliver simply issues him a warning.
26'
WONDERFUL RUN! Jovetic shows great control to keep the ball at his feet as he runs 20 yards up the pitch. He lays it off for Lampard at the top of the area, and the midfielder sends a tricky shot towards goal. Kirkland is left pinned to his spot, but the effort rolls just inches wide of the near post!
24'
Sheffield Wednesday have had very little possession, but they have more jump in their step. The visitors are quick to pounce on any mistake made by the hosts in midfield - and there have been more than a few - then looking to penetrate on the counter. It has worked wonderfully for them thus far.
22'
The hosts are beginning to take control, dominating possession and playing keep away in midfield. Still, they are playing nowhere near their capabilities, and find themselves behind thanks to another sluggish start.
20'
That's more like it from City, as Navas takes on Dielna in defence, and does well to win the hosts a corner. The Spaniard delivers and Fernando is there to meet it, but his header sails over the bar.
18'
STAT ATTACK: With their loss to Wigan in the sixth round of the FA Cup last season, Manchester City ended a run of 13 games without defeat in the competition against opposition from lower leagues (W10, D3).
16'
The defending Premier League champions seem shell-shocked! The confidence is flowing through this Wednesday side now as they win a corner. City have to settle themselves down here or they could find themselves two goals down before 20 minutes!
14'
A. Nuhiu has scored a goal for Sheffield Wednesday! Assist by S. May.
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY LEAD THE DEFENDING PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS AT THE ETIHAD!
Manchester City sure do love making life difficult on themselves! Stevie May charges down the right, with the hosts running thin at the back. He picks out a pass for Atdhe Nuhiu, who takes the chance brilliantly, slotting a confident first-time shot past Caballero!
13'
The Owls show some attacking capability on a counter, with Jeremy Helan's pace on full display. The midfielder charges down the left and forces Mangala into an uncomfortable position, with the centre-back forced to concede a corner.
11'
JUST OVER! It looks like it's only a matter of time before the hosts break the deadlock. They are producing chances at will, the latest seeing Jesus Navas fire a shot inches over the bar after a rather unconvincing clearance following a corner.
9'
OFFSIDE! Again City do an exquisite job of picking apart their opponents with their passing. They attack down the left and a clever one-two sends Milner into space. His ball into the centre is good enough to play Jovetic through on goal, but the flag is up to bring an end to the attack.
7'
STAT ATTACK: The last meeting between these two teams in the FA Cup came in 2007, with Manchester City winning the replay 2-1 thanks to goals from Stephen Ireland and Darius Vassell. The first match ended in a 1-1 stalemate with the Championship side playing host.
5'
The visitors seem to have settled in a bit, as they muster up their first attack of the match. It is hardly the most aesthetically pleasing, but Kieran Lee's cross gives Eliaquim Mangala a bit of a hard time, before the danger is finally cleared.
3'
Lovely build up! The hosts look very threatening early on, issuing a warning sign to their opponents. Bacary Sagna on the right picks out Frank Lampard in the centre, who directs a first-touch pass into the path of Stevan Jovetic. Tom Lees intervenes and it goes behind for the first corner of the match.
1'
Sheffield Wednesday kick-off and we are underway at the Etihad! The visitors, moving right to left, are sporting their all yellow away strip, with Manchester City in their classic sky blue kit.
Manchester City are five time FA Cup winners (1904, 1934, 1956, 1969 and 2011). They are currently joint-top of the Premier League along with Chelsea. The Citizens have already been eliminated from the Capital One Cup, and Manuel Pellegrini has preached to his side the importance of making a deep run in the FA Cup to keep their hopes of a domestic double alive.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:

Joe Mattock (groin) has been ruled out for the Owls, paving the way for Claude Dielna to replace him at left-back. Manager Stuart Gray has made a few changes to his team, following a 1-0 victory over Wigan, with Stevie May, Kieran Lee and Chris Kirkland slotting into the starting XI.
Good afternoon footy fans around the world, and welcome to the Etihad! The FA Cup third round continues today all across the country, but our focus will be in Manchester, where the Citizens play host to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. I am Alex Moretto and I will be your in-game host, guiding you through the match LIVE as it happens!
Sheffield Wednesday are three time FA Cup winners (1896, 1907 and 1935). They come into the match currently occupying 10th place in the Championship table, following back-to-back victories over the holidays.
HALF TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 0-1 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. The visitors have a shock lead, with Atdhe Nuhiu's goal proving to be the difference after 45 minutes. It is a deserved lead for the Owls, as well, who looked threatening in attack and have done excellently thus far to keep City out.
From a strictly neutral perspective, this scoreline is a best-case scenario for the second half. It will force City to be at their best and attack the Owls, who should have their chances to add to their lead via the counter. We are in for an exciting second half, which is just moments away!
FULL TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 2-1 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. James Milner is the hero for the Sky Blues as his brace helps turn around an early deficit to keep their FA Cup journey alive. The Owls proved to be formidable opponents, coming into the game with a bit between their teeth following their 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Pellegrini's side earlier this season. Stuart Gray's team made it very difficult for City, who just barely manage to avoid a replay.
I am Alex Moretto and I would like to thank you all for joining me here today. Good bye!
