Hello and welcome along to Goal's live coverage of this pivotal Group B fixture between England and Italy at the European Under-21 Championship. I'm Greg Lea and I'll be guiding you through the action this evening.
England need to win tonight to be sure of their place in the semi-final, though a draw could do should Sweden fail to beat Portugal. Nothing less than three points for Italy will see them through, with even a win potentially not enough.
The anthems are being sung as the players gather out on the pitch. Kick-off not long away now.
The referee's whistle sounds and we are under way!
HALF-TIME: Italy 2-0 England.
Two goals in three minutes have put Italy in the driving seat at the midway point of this game. England look to be heading out of the European Under-21 Championship.
England have created a few chances but you have to question the defending for both of Italy's goals. Andrea Belotti was allowed to peel off the back of John Stones and Ben Gibson for the first, while Lorenzo Crisetig ran through the midfield unchallenged for the second.
The players are back out on the pitch with the second half now just moments away.
FULL-TIME: England 1-3 Italy.
Italy secure a comprehensive victory but it was not enough: Sweden's 1-1 draw puts them through at the expense of the Azzurrini.
Italy were good value for that victory. England were second best in almost every area of the pitch and head home after the group stage.
Italy were somewhat unfortunate in the end, Sweden's late equaliser knocking them out in the last minute. It was a good performance from Luigi Di Biagio's side, who nevertheless did not do quite enough to progress across the three games.
That concludes Goal's coverage of Italy's 3-1 win over England. Thanks for following. Goodbye.
