Hello and welcome to our LIVE text commentary on the Europa League Group J clash between Anderlecht and Monaco. Both of these clubs played in the Champions League last term, with Monaco reaching the quarter-finals. How will they fare in Europe's secondary club competition?
Monaco have, of course, recently parted company with Anthony Martial after the talented teenager completed a big-money deadline-day switch to Manchester United. Nevertheless, Leonardo Jardim's men will be confident of getting a positive result this evening against an Anderlecht side without a win in their last five meetings with teams from Ligue 1.
Group J looks to be a tricky one, with Tottenham and Qarabag also involved, so the two teams in action at Stade Constant Vanden Stock will be eager to avoid an early slip-up. Let's take a look at the team news.
Monaco substitutes: Nardi, Bakayoko, A Traore, Lemar, Carrillo, L Traore, El Shaarawy.
Joao Moutinho returns from injury to make his 100th UEFA club competition appearance in a welcome boost for Monaco, while there is a debut for Fabio Coentrao. Anderlecht are without Kara Mbodji but Matias Suarez plays despite a knee complaint.
Not long to go now until kick-off. We have already had 12 matches in the Europa League this evening and another dozen are about to get under way. Anderlecht will hope to fare better than fellow Belgians Club Brugge, who have been trounced 5-0 by Napoli.
Here is a statistic that makes for dismal reading if you are an Anderlecht fan. The Belgian side have won just one of their last eight European home matches, losing six. And the hosts probably start as slight underdogs this evening given the talent at Monaco's disposal.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: ANDERLECHT 1-0 MONACO
It's been an impressive opening 45 minutes for Anderlecht, who have looked bright at both ends of the pitch, despite seeing little of the ball. Monaco have bossed possession but have struggled against the hosts' impressive defence, who have remained compact and well-organised to keep the French side at bay. The visitors will have to raise the tempo significantly if they are to have any chance of finding a way back into the game after the break.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: ANDERLECHT 1-1 MONACO
Anderlecht will feel incredibly hard done by after putting in such a good performance for 85 minutes, but they were undone at the last moment by tiring legs in a back four that had performed wonderfully up until then. Monaco looked sluggish in possession and bereft of ideas up until the introduction of El Shaarawy, but the Italian impressed after coming on and played a vital role in Traore's late equaliser, which the hosts will feel was undeserved.
My name is Ben Cullimore and it's been an absolute pleasure describing all of the action to you this evening. Until next time, goodbye!
