The action is underway! Stoke kick off, playing from left to right.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League clash between Stoke City and Leicester City. My name is James Hopper and I will be keeping you up to date with all of the action from the Britannia Stadium.
Stoke arrive into today’s clash against high flying Leicester City with a sense of desperation. The Potters are still searching for their first league victory of the campaign and will hope to get off the mark in front of a passionate home faithful. Despite the glamorous arrival of Xherdan Shaqiri, Stoke have failed to capture the imaginations of neutrals, who were expecting a fast start from Mark Hughes’ side.
Meanwhile, Leicester kick-off in the lofty position of second place as Claudio Ranieri aims to continue his side’s miraculous start to the season with a win. After last week’s stunning 3-2 victory over Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium, the Foxes will be brimming with confidence and will look to add further misery for the Potters this afternoon.
Stoke XI (4-2-3-1): Butland, Johnson, Cameron, Wilson, Pieters; Van Ginkel, Whelan; Shaqiri, Bojan, Arnautovic; Walters.
Stoke make four changes to the side that lost 2-0 away to Arsenal with Glen Johnson, Marc Wilson, Bojan and Jon Walters all returning. Marc Muniesa, Mame Biram Diouf and Joselu take their place on the substitutes bench while Phil Bardsley is absent from the match-day squad.
Leicester make one change to the side that fought back from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2. N’Golo Kante takes his place in the starting XI ahead of Marc Albrighton but Claudio Ranieri has kept faith with the rest of his team.
The teams are making their way out of the tunnel with only minutes to go before kick-off!
HALF-TIME: STOKE 2-0 LEICESTER. Claudio Ranieri will have plenty to think about as his side head into the break. Despite a fast start, Stoke find themselves with a two goal lead thanks to a brilliant individual run by Arnautovic, which allowed Bojan to score the opening goal. A disastrous mistake by Morgan gifted Walters the chance to compound the Foxes misery, as the Potters aim to secure a first league win. Can Leicester repeat their heroics against Aston Villa this afternoon?
FULL-TIME: STOKE 2-2 LEICESTER. Mark Hughes' side throw away a two goal lead as Claudio Ranieri's men once again produce a stunning comeback. Second half goals from Mahrez and Vardy gifted the Foxes a deserved point but it could have been even better for the visitors, if Vardy's late strike on goal found the back of the net. Stoke remain without a win so far this season while Leicester continue their remarkable start to the campaign.
What a thrilling game at the Britannia Stadium! I have been James Hopper, thank you for joining me today and untilo next time, goodbye!
