Phenomenal save from Keylor Navas! Jackson Martinez receives the ball to feet on the edge of the are and shifts right to find a yard of space before whipping a brilliant strike aimed at the right corner, which is subsequently beat away by the diving Costa Rican goalkeeper!
90' +1
Three minutes of added time have been signaled by the referee and this news prompts the Vicente Calderon crowd to burst into encouraging cheers in an attempt to catalyse their team into finding a winner. Are we in for a grandstand finish?!
89'
Arbeloa gets yellow.
Carrasco does brilliantly to shake off two terribly late challenges down the left touchline but eventually succumbs to the third and final tackle, which is a hacked attempt to get the ball by Arbeloa, who is the latest player to see yellow for his trouble.
88'
D. Godín gets yellow.
87'
Godin has marshaled Ronaldo excellently so far in this game but just allows the Madrid man to get beyond him once down the left wing. He decides that he is not going to be bested and gives his opponent a shove to the back, which rightfully earns him a yellow card, with Los Blancos getting the free kick.
85'
Now we have a second half on our hands! It is just a shame that we only have a few minutes to go as this game is finally bubbling into the end-to-end clash that we all anticipated. Remains to be seen how much attacking ambition we will see to the end though, as a point each would probably suit both teams.
83'
L. Vietto has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid!
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLL FOR ATLETICO MADRID! DRAMATIC EQUALISER FOR SIMEONE'S MEN! Jackson Martinez opens up his stride down the left wing and hits the byline before lashing a low cross into the box, which Griezmann flicks towards goal. The blocked attempt is latched on to by Vietto, who smashes home from a yard out!! One-one!
82'
A. Griezmann gets yellow.
Another booking now as signs of frustration are creeping into the ranks of Atletico. The latest Colchoneros man to see yellow is Griezmann, and it is for another one of those cynical fouls which has dogged this game since the break. This one is committed on Modric, who earns the free kick.
80'
Vietto looks to make his first real contribution as he peels away to the back post to get on the end of a deep cross. The former Villarreal man does so, but can't stretch up high enough in order to get a decent connection on his headed attempt, which is screwed wide.
79'
L. Vietto gets yellow.
Minute
Description
78'
The first half was fairly promising in terms of goalscoring chances, with both sides looking capable of tallying up a few strikes, but in the second period it has been the defences who have been on top, with Oblak and Navas in their respective areas looking pretty comfortable.
77'
M. Kovačić enters the game and replaces K. Benzema.
76'
Third and final change from Rafa Benitez now and it is a conservative one from the former Liverpool manager who introduces a midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, in place of the solitary goalscorer, Benzema. Ronaldo will probably move into the central striker role now, with the youngster coming on to provide some more steel in midfield.
74'
This looks like it is going to be another frustrating Spanish Primera Division clash for Cristiano Ronaldo, who again fails to test the goalkeeper, Oblak, with a shot from distance. His latest attempt with his left foot is well-struck, but it ends up nestling wide into the side netting.
72'
There will be many things on the mind of Simeone, but one particular gripe he will have with his charges is that they have completely failed to pose a threat from set-pieces, which is usually a source of joy for them in the final third. Griezmann has stepped over two or three corners now, but the delivery has been poor more often than not.
70'
Madrid just have their city rivals camped in their own half currently as Modric and Kroos begin to find more space in those central areas, which is allowing them to dictate possession. Atletico still pose quite a threat with their pace on the counter though, so they won't be panicking just yet.
68'
The Vicente Calderon faithful are just getting a little anxious in their seats currently as at the moment their side aren't really showing much signs that an equaliser and potential subsequent winner could be on the way. Madrid have been pretty good defensively to be fair, though.
66'
G. Bale enters the game and replaces Isco.
Just about beyond the midway point of the second half now and there is still all to play for in this Madrid derby. That solitary goal in the first period from Benzema is still the only thing thing between these two exceedingly evenly matched sides. The next goal will prove to be vital, you would feel.
64'
J. Martínez enters the game and replaces Fernando Torres.
Both sides delve into the array of quality available from their subs bench now as Gareth Bale comes on to replace Isco for Real Madrid and Fernando Torres leaves the pitch in favour of Jackson Martinez for Atletico. Not a bad duo to come on and add some firepower to proceedings!
62'
Neither side has really managed to assert their authority and dominance in the midfield areas since the break, with the middle third of the pitch proving to be a bit of a battle ground with plenty of tackles flying in. Some more composure in possession required, you would feel.
61'
Casemiro gets yellow.
60'
Juanfran gets yellow.
As most Madrid derbies tend to, this one is following the pattern of each side implementing a little bit of unsavoury tactics in order to come out with all three points. The play-acting is coming thick and fast now as Sergio Ramos goes down in a heap after a nothing collision with Juanfran, who is not happy with his compatriot's reaction. The Atletico man goes into the book for the incident.
59'
R. Varane gets yellow.
58'
L. Vietto enters the game and replaces Á. Correa.
Second change of the match from Simeone and it sees Angel Correa, who is on a yellow card and who has made a few more late challenges in the past couple of minutes, come off to be replaced by new signing, Luciano Vietto, who is still to really find his feet after moving from Villarreal in the summer.
56'
The second half has mostly been interrupted by petty little fouls which have been given away mostly in and around the centre circle. The latest guilty party to disturb the flow of the game is Godin, who halts a Madrid counterattack with a late tackle on Benzema.
54'
Just under 10 minutes into this second period now and the match is missing the intense movement in the final third that was present before the break. Both sides seem like they could add to their goalscoring tally, but both defences looking solid too.
52'
A bit of an interesting duel is developing between Gimenez and Ronaldo here, who have took a couple of digs at each other twice in the last couple of minutes. The latest installment of the story sees the Uruguayan penalised for high studs in a tackle with the Madrid man, which looked a pretty harsh decision; not much in it.
50'
Madrid counterattack with pace through the middle and the ball eventually finds Isco down the right channel, who dinks a weak cross into the area which is easily cleared. Ronaldo slaps his hand in frustration at the poor quality service.
48'
Ronaldo opens up his stride down the left wing and gets beyond Juanfran to stand a teasing cross to the back post. Kroos looks poised to latch on to the loose ball and get the volley away, but he nearly ends up taking Godin's head off with his attempt, which eventually earns the hosts a free kick for a high boot.
46'
Y. Carrasco enters the game and replaces Óliver Torres.
We are back under way in the Spanish capital and there is a half-time substitution to report. Simeone has acted at the break and introduces pacey winger, Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, in place of the ineffective Oliver Torres down the right wing.
43'
There shouldn't be too much added time allocated by the referee here as this has pretty much been a free-flowing match apart from the goal and a few fouls here and there. Madrid will probably just look to keep it tight for the next few moments and head into the break with the lead.
42'
Arbeloa enters the game and replaces Dani Carvajal.
41'
Some worrying scenes for Real Madrid at the moment as Carvajal won't be able to continue after suffering a nasty looking blow to the knee. He actually signals for the stretcher himself before eventually trudging off the pitch to be replaced by the veteran, Alvaro Arbeloa. A blow for Los Blancos, as the former Leverkusen man has been bright tonight.
39'
Á. Correa gets yellow.
Correa looks like a player who is always on the brink of lashing out with a little showing of aggression, and he previously got away with it with that poor challenge on Casemiro. However, he finally goes into the book after hacking away at Ronaldo to break down a Madrid counter.
37'
Ronaldo is inching ever closer to overtaking Raul's goalscoring record here, which so far in this game has evaded him. The Ballon d'Or winner stands over a free kick around 35 yards out and steps up to send a stinging strike towards goal, but like his previous attempt, it goes over the bar, with Oblak not particularly troubled.
35'
There are the obvious negative ramifications for Atletico if they were to be defeated tonight in that they would be some points behind their city rivals and the champions, Barcelona. However, the mental damage that losses so early in the season against the Clasico duo could do could certainly harm morale for the campaign ahead.
33'
Just under 15 minutes to go in the first half at Vicente Calderon and Real Madrid are good value for their 1-0 lead at the moment, but Atletico have still managed to pose a threat, and would be level of Navas hadn't pulled off that super save to deny Griezmann's penalty. Still all to play for!
31'
OVER FROM RONALDOOOO! The former Manchester United attacker, who had a very frustrating time in his last Spanish Primera Division match against Malaga, swivels quickly inside the box and finds a yard of space to get the shot away, but his attempt goes high and wide.
29'
Correa is a lucky, lucky boy to escape a yellow card, or even possibly a red here as he goes in with his studs up on Casemiro, catching the Brazilian directly on the shin pad. The referee could not have had a better view, but decides it was somehow a fair challenge. Atletico get away with one there.
27'
Griezmann looks to latch on to a deflected pass down the right flank and suddenly finds himself in a race against Varane to get the ball. The Madrid defender displays an absolutely tremendous turn of pace to reach there before his compatriot to send possession out for a throw-in. He was taking no prisoners there!
25'
Ronaldo collects possession with his back to goal and turns sharply before driving into space through the middle. He shifts the ball on to his left foot and looks to thread an incisive pass down the channel for Benzema, but Gimenez is on hand to make the important, sliding interception.
22'
Penalty saved by K. Navas!
21'
Sergio Ramos gets yellow.
PENALTY TO ATLETICO MADRID! Fernando Torres dashes ahead through the middle but just allows his touch to let him down on the edge of the box. Sergio Ramos collects but a similarly poor touch allows Tiago to get in ahead, forcing the defender to commit the foul inside the box!
19'
Some scintillating play on the edge of the Atletico box from Real Madrid at the moment as they look to find an opening to grab another goal. Modric, Ronaldo, and Marcelo are all involved positively but the hosts end up getting a little bit of respite as Oblak comes off his line to claim a cross.
17'
Gabi gets yellow.
First booking of the match now and it is a deserved, and predictable one for Gabi, who halts a Real Madrid counterattack by cynically scything down Benzema a few yards inside the centre circle. You would have put your mortgage on the Atletico captain being shown a yellow card tonight; quite the combatant!
15'
Correa is looking the most likely candidate to claw Atletico Madrid back into contention here, and seems to be playing with absolutely no fear against his experienced Madrid backline. His latest attempt at goal is a wicked strike from 20 yards which has Navas scrambling across, but which goes the wrong side of the post.
13'
Just wide from Correa! The 20-year-old makes an excellent run in behind the Atletico defence into the right channel and receives the ball to feet before drilling a low strike aimed at the bottom left corner. Unfortunately for him, and the hosts, it is dragged just wide.
11'
That goal is no less than Real Madrid deserve here, as Benitez has sent his men out from the get-go to play with purpose and intensity, which is exactly what Simeone's outfit are missing. Normally the Argentine can be counted on to keep his teams at the very least solid and organised, but they have allowed their rivals to run over the top of them in this opening 10 minutes.
9'
K. Benzema has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Dani Carvajal.
GOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL FOR REAL MADRID!! LOS BLANCOS TAKE THE LEAD! Carvajal skips beyond Filipe far too easily down the right flank and stands a beauty of a cross into the box for Benzema, who glances a superb header into the top left corner! Poor defending from Atleti!
7'
Vital interception from Godin! Carvajal gets into an advanced position down the right wing and sends a teasing cross along the six-yard box, which Benzema looks poised to send into the back of the net, only to be foiled by the Uruguayan, who clears with a last-ditch tackle!
5'
Correa pops up in behind the Real Madrid defence and hits the byline before smashing a left-footed strike at goal from the wide angle. Predictably, it doesn't pose much of a problem to Navas and ends it slamming into the side netting.
3'
We get our first glimpse of Ronaldo here who is, of course, aiming to become Real Madrid's all-time top goalscorer. The Portuguese gets on the end of a Modric cross to head an attempt at goal, but it ends up flashing harmlessly wide of the right-hand post.

We are under way at the Vicente Calderon!
Good evening football fans! Welcome to LIVE coverage of the Spanish Primera Division clash between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid from the Vicente Calderon!
I'm Martin Macdonald, and it is my pleasure to take you through the action.
The Madrid derby this season is littered with many sub-stories as the city rivals attempt to overcome each other in their first clash of the campaign. Up until recent years, the Spanish capital clubs would only see their immense rivalry played out in domestic matches for the most part, but the emergence of Los Colchoneros as a European force to be reckoned with has saw Real Madrid take take notice, and take heed, of Diego Simeone's charges.
As things currently stand, Los Blancos find themselves down in fourth place with 14 points taken from their opening six matches, but do have the opportunity to go ahead of surprise table-toppers, Villarreal with a victory this evening. Atletico, on the other hand, have been disappointingly defeated twice in the league so far at the hands of El Submarino and Barcelona respectively, and are placed down in fifth, but can leapfrog their city rivals by claiming all three points here.
Last season, Real Madrid defeated Atletico in the quarter-finals of the Champions League which ended a seven match winless run in the derby. However, they have not managed to record a victory at the Vicente Calderon in five attempts, and were demolished 4-0 in their last visit across the city, with Tiago, Antoine Griezmann, Saul Niguez, and Mario Mandzukic getting on the scoresheet for Simeone's outfit.
Even with this poor run at the Calderon, perhaps the most worrying fact for Real Madrid is that they have failed to breach the Atletico defence in their last four away matches across the capital, which will certainly be cause for concern for a usually free-scoring side. One person who will be incredibly eager to stop the rot is Cristiano Ronaldo, who, after netting his 500th and 501st career goals this week, is aiming to surpass Raul as Real Madrid's all-time top goalscorer by netting tonight.
Both sides head into the match tonight buoyed by the fact that title-rivals, Barcelona, dropped points yesterday afternoon against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. However, their respective forms differ in terms of their recent performances and results. During the week in the Champions League, Real Madrid ran out comfortable 2-0 winners away to Malmo thanks to a double from Ronaldo, while Atletico were on the wrong end of a 2-1 home defeat against Benfica, which was their second loss on the bounce.
Real Madrid (4-3-3): Navas; Carvajal, Varane, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric; Isco, Ronaldo, Benzema.
Four changes in total for Atletico and Real Madrid from their previous line-ups against Benfica and Malmo respectively. For Los Colchoneros, Fernando Torres comes in to replace Jackson Martinez, and for Los Blancos, Nacho, Alvaro Arbeloa, and Mateo Kovacic are withdrawn, with Marcelo, Luka Modric, and the returning Sergio Ramos coming in to the starting XI.
Simeone usually deploys a 4-4-2 formation in such big clashes, but in recent weeks has sometimes changed to a 4-3-3. With Torres, Griezmann, and Correa in the side, it is unclear as to what the tactic will be tonight, but we will see soon enough, with the latter duo capable of playing out wide also.
The players are making their way to the pitch and we are almost ready for kick-off!
Half time at the Vicente Calderon. It has been a highly entertaining clash in the Madrid derby this evening but it is Los Blancos who head into the break with a 1-0 lead over the hosts, Atletico. Goalscoring chances for both sides, but a finished Benzema header and a missed penalty from Griezmann proved to be the key moments of the opening 45. A very interesting second period in store!
Full time at the Vicente Calderon as the honours end up even in this Madrid derby. A score draw is probably a fair result on the night as both sides play out a tight 1-1 scoreline, with Karim Benzema and Luciano Vietto getting on the scoreline for their respective sides, with the latter goal coming late on in the second period. Keylor Navas was magnificent between the sticks for Los Blancos and denied Atleti more goals by saving a penalty from Antoine Griezmann and a rasper of a strike from Jackson Martinez. Benitez's men move into second, with the Colchoneros remaining in fifth. I'm Martin Macdonald, thanks for joining us, see you next time!
