Inter patiently pass the ball around as they aim to run down the clock. It looks as if it's all over for Genoa, who have tried their hardest, particularly in the second half, but just can't seem to beat a very resolute defence.

A Genoa attack finally breaks down, allowing Miranda to muscle his way forward. He looks set to kick-start a promising counter-attack but is quickly hauled back by Ansaldi, who receives a yellow card as a result.

It's all Genoa at the moment as they swarm into Inter's half of the pitch. The hosts are now sitting deep as they desperately aim to hold on to their slender lead.
86'
D. D'Ambrosio gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
Genoa deal with the resulting corner well before breaking away on a quick counter-attack. Pandev charges forward before trying to find Gakpe on the left flank, but the Macedonian's pass is far too heavy and fails to find the aforementioned forward.
RED CARD! D'Ambrosio receives his second yellow card of the game for a mistimed challenge on Perotti, and that will make the final few minutes extremely nervy for Inter. Surely Genoa will now throw even more bodies forward in search of a late equaliser...
85'
Ljajic and Telles link up well on the left flank, with the latter taking the Genoa defence by surprise with a wonderful overlapping run, but his low cross towards Palacio is headed out of play by Ansaldi at the near post.

Telles flies down the left flank before sending a dangerous low cross into the middle of the pitch, where it finds Palacio. The Argentine's first touch is poor, however, and ends up sending the ball out of play before he goes down under a challenge from Ansaldi, but no contact was made and the Genoa centre-back looks rightly bemused.

I. Perišić enters the game and replaces S. Jovetić.
Meanwhile, Pandev has come on to replace Figueiras for Genoa.

69'
D. D'Ambrosio gets yellow.
A half-hearted Inter attack breaks down thanks to good defending from Ansaldi, who then tries to break forward quickly. He embarks on a good run but it's brought to a painful end by D'Ambrosio, who charges into the centre-back and sends him crashing to the ground.
68'
Ljajic shows great feet on the left wing to skip past Figeuiras with ease, but not for the first time this evening he ends up completely overhitting his cross, which flies over both Palacio and Jovetic before bouncing over to the opposite flank.

Inter keep pushing forward, with Biabiany flying towards the edge of the Genoa penalty area before sending a deft through-ball into the path of Ljajic. Inter are increasingly pushing bodies forward in search of an opening goal. They look absolutely desperate to find the back of the net, and it's no wonder why. They have dominated possession but are growing increasingly frustrated as they fail to make it count.
56'
Great opportunity for Jovetic! Palacio charges down the left wing before cutting a bouncing pass into the path of the aforementioned Montenegrin, but he ends up scuffing his 20-yard shot off his shin and well away from the Genoa goal.
54'
Genoa are starting to find more joy when pushing forward. Gaps are appearing in the Inter defence and the visitors are doing well to take advantage of them.
52'
Chance for Genoa! A deep cross from Laxalt flies over the head of everyone inside the Inter box before bouncing over to Figueiras. The wing-back then unleashes a thumping low shot that forces Handanovic into making a strong diving save. The hosts completely switched off then.
50'
Inter have started the second half as they finished the first. They are moving the ball around well and putting Genoa under pressure, but they are finding it difficult to turn that domination of posssession into chances on goal, which they desperately need.
48'
Inter work the ball around well before earning themselves a free kick in a dangerous position 35 yards away from goal. Ljajic tries to chip a cross into the bounce but it's totally underhit and can only find a white shirt.

45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
44'
What a save by Perin! Telles flies down the left wing before sending a brilliant cross over to Ljajic. The Serbian meets it well before unleashing a thumping low shot that looks set for the back of the net, but the Genoa goalkeeper keeps it out with an excellent diving stop.
42'
Jovetic finds himself in space on the left flank before thumping a lofted pass over the top of the Genoa defence and into the path of Biabiany, but the Frenchman is unable to meet the ball, despite his best efforts.
41'
Once again, Melo comes back onto the pitch, despite showing clear signs of discomfort. That is a very strange, not to mention potentially dangerous, decision by Inter, who surely should bring him off for further treatment.
40'
Jovetic holds up the ball well before spinning and teeing up Telles, who makes a great overlapping run down the left wing. The full-back then sends a low cross into the middle of the box, but it's cut out by Ansaldi before it can find Palacio.
39'
Melo has gone down again, and once more he's holding his head and looks to still be struggling. He surely can't continue after showing such discomfort over the past 10 minutes.
37'

35'
Melo seems to have made a recovery, and he jogs back onto the pitch to rejoin the action.
34'

32'
D'Ambrosio fouls Laxalt on the left wing, resulting in a free kick for Genoa midway inside the Inter half of the pitch. It's poorly hit, however, and fails to beat the first man.

14'
A lofted pass forward almost finds Jovetic, but the forward is clattered to the ground by Ansaldi before it can reach the Montenegrin. The Inter fans scream for a free kick, which would also result in a red card for the defender, as he was the last man, but the referee immediately waves play on.
12'
After spending several moments on the floor, Medel gingerly makes his way off the pitch to receive further medical treatment.

And we're off! Inter get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Serie A game between Inter and Genoa at the San Siro.
14 points and 13 places currently separate the two sides and Genoa will be hoping that they can pull off a shock victory as they look to return to winning ways after a disappointing 2-1 defeat against 19th-place Carpi six days ago. That defeat saw Leonardo Pavoletti receive a straight red card after just six minutes, meaning that Gian Piero Gasperini will be without his top goalscorer just when he needs him the most. The Rossoblu, who achieved an excellent sixth-place finish last campaign, have struggled thus far this season and sit just three points outside of the relegation zone in 15th, equal on points with Chievo and Sampdoria and in danger of soon dropping into the bottom three if results don’t go their way.
Monday evening’s 2-1 defeat away to Napoli saw Inter surrender top spot to the Naples team, but they can move back to first place if they are able to see off a struggling Genoa side tonight. The aforementioned loss was only their second in what has been an impressive season for Roberto Mancini’s men, who have won nine of their opening 14 games. Things remain incredibly congested at the top of the table, however, as four points currently separate the league leaders and fifth-place Juventus, who have enjoyed a dramatic turnaround in recent weeks. As a result, the Nerazzurri will be desperate to return to winning ways against a side that they have largely struggled against in recent years.
Roberto Mancini has decided to make five changes to the Inter side that started the aforementioned defeat away to Napoli, with Telles, Melo, Biabiany, Jovetic and Palacio coming into the line-up to replace Nagatomo, Guarin, Brozovic, Perisic and Icardi.
Meanwhile, Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini has made just one alteration to the side that featured in last weekend’s defeat against Carpi, with Perotti replacing the suspended Pavoletti.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: INTER 0-0 GENOA
It's been a really frustrating first-half performance from Inter, and Roberto Mancini looks absolutely fuming as he makes his way down the tunnel. They have dominated possession and been presented with several good chances to go in front, but each time they get forward they end up squandering their opportunities at the vital moment. Ljajic has been the best of the bunch but really should have done better with his shots, whilst Palacio has found it increasingly difficult to get into the game.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: INTER 1-0 GENOA
Inter comfortably hold on to pick up a 1-0 win that sends them back to the top of the Serie A. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't convincing but they won't mind, as they just about did enough to see off a Genoa side that struggled to get forward and failed to make their chances count when they did. Roberto Mancini doesn't look too happy but will no doubt be smiling somewhere inside, as that's now 10 victories for his side in just 15 games.
