And now Coman goes close! The youngster picks up the ball in space on the left flank and quickly cuts inside before unleashing a curling strike from 20 yards out. It beats Hitz with ease but ends up flying just past the far post, denying the youngster the opportunity to restore Bayern's three-goal lead.
90' +2
Another great chance for Robben! A low cross from the left flank finds the Dutchman in acres of space inside the Augsburg penalty area, but he spends far too long on the ball and takes a few too many touches, which reduces the angle and results in him firing his close-range shot into the feet of Janker and out for a corner.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
89'
Under pressure from Robben, Hitz ends up sending his attempted clearance straight into the feet of Muller, but the forward's first touch is poor and knocks the ball over to Klavan, much to the relief of the Augsburg goalkeeper.
88'
That goal seems to have filled Augsburg with plenty of confidence, and they are now pushing as many bodies forward as possible as they try to find a second goal that will set us up for a very interesting end to the game. Once again, Bobadilla gets himself into a good position on the edge of the Bayern box before unleashing a shot, but he doesn't hit it at all well enough and it's comfortably dealt with by Kimmich before it can test Neuer.
86'
R. Bobadilla has scored a goal for Augsburg! Assist by A. Esswein.
That was really well done by Esswein in the build-up to the goal, but questions have to be asked of Bayern, who fell asleep and were punished for their lax defending.
GOAL! Augsburg have pulled one back! Esswein breaks down the right flank and takes advantage of the space left behind by Bayern, who have too many bodies pushed forward. He then cuts into the penalty area before teeing up Bobadilla, who controls the ball well and spins round Kimmich before beating Neuer with a brilliant low strike that finds the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
85'
Despite being three goals down, Augsburg are still pushing forward in search of a goal. Bayern are sitting deeper now as they look to hold on to their comfortable lead, but allowing the hosts the opportunity to get on the ball may cause problems for them.
83'
S. Rode enters the game and replaces P. Lahm.
K. Coman enters the game and replaces Douglas Costa.
And the second is Rode, who replaces Lahm.
82'
Bayern have decided to make a double substitution with just eight minutes left to play. The first player to come on is Coman, who takes the place of Costa.
80'
Bayern have taken their foot off the pedal slightly, allowing Augsburg to push forward on a rare foray into the visitors' half of the pitch. They initially work the ball around well before Verhaegh sends a deep cross towards Caiuby at the far post, but Kimmich is there to comfortably deal with the danger.
Minute
Description
78'
T. Müller has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by Douglas Costa.
Costa did well to take advantage of Hitz's error after looking so bright down the left wing, and he certainly deserves the assist after putting in such a good shift this afternoon.
GOAL! Muller wraps up the win for Bayern! Augsburg push too many bodies forward, leaving plenty of space available inside their own half of the pitch. Costa charges down the left flank before sending a low cross into the penalty area, which Klavan gets a foot on to send the ball looping up into the air. Under pressure from Lewandowski, Hitz is only able to punch his attempted clearance back to the Brazilian, who then sets up Muller to side-foot a shot into the back of the net from close range. Game over!
77'
And now Robben goes close! The Dutchman, who has arguably been one of Bayern's best players this afternoon, is presented with another opportunity to score, but once again he's unable to beat Hitz with a thumping volley from just inside the penalty area.
75'
Lewandowski almost wraps up his hat-trick! Bayern keep pushing forward and put Augsburg under an incredible amount of pressure, resulting in Muller being able to send a cross into the middle of the penalty area from the right wing. It rolls into the six-yard box and almost finds the Polish striker, but the ball ends up missing his outstretched foot by the narrowest of margins.
73'
Chance for Caiuby! The foul on Bobadilla also results in a free-kick for Augsburg, which is chipped over to the left flank, where it finds Verhaegh. The full-back then whips a well-placed cross towards the near post, where it finds the aforementioned Brazilian, but he's unable to get enough power on his header and, as a result, his effort fails to trouble Neuer.
72'
T. Müller gets yellow.
Augsburg try to break away on a quick counter-attack through Bobadilla, who sprints through the middle of the pitch before being clumsily brought down by a poor challenge from Muller, who trips the striker to the ground and receives a yellow card as a result.
71'
C. Janker enters the game and replaces Hong Jeong-Ho.
Hong will play no further part in the game and makes his way for Janker for the final 20 minutes.
70'
Hong seems to have picked up a slight injury, and he drops to the floor inside his own penalty area. He's had a really difficult game today and has been run ragged by Lewandowski in particular.
68'
Robben receives the ball on the edge of the Augsburg penalty area and quickly beats Max before trying to beat Hitz with a curling shot, but it's sent too near to the goalkeeper and, as a result, he's easily able to stop the shot.
66'
Bayern move the ball around quickly deep inside the Augsburg half of the pitch before it reaches Costa on the edge of the box, and he skips past Kohr with ease before unleashing a curling shot that ends up looping just a yard or two wide of the near post. The visitors smell blood and are pushing extremely hard for a third goal.
64'
Rafinha almost makes it 3-0! The Brazilian picks up the ball in a pocket of space just outside of the Augsburg penalty area and immediately fires a rocket of a strike that looks set to find the top right-hand corner of the net, but Hitz is just about able to parry it away from the goal with an excellent diving save.
62'
R. Lewandowski has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by Thiago Alcântara.
That was a beautiful pass from Thiago, who timed his pass to perfection and took advantage of poor defending by Hong and Klavan, both of whom were caught ball watching.
GOAL! It's 2-0, and it's Lewandowski once again! Thiago picks up the ball in acres of space in the middle of the pitch and immediately sends a fantastic 30-yard pass through Hong and Klavan and into the feet of the Polish striker, who controls it well before beating Hitz with an excellent curling strike from inside the penalty area.
60'
Alaba makes his way back onto the pitch and Bayern quickly push forward on a determined attacking move through Costa, who sprints down the left flank before firing a low strike off Kohr and out for a corner. The Brazilian then tries to pick out Lewandowski with his cross from the resulting set-piece, but it's slightly underhit and can only find a white shirt.
58'
Ouch! And now Alaba looks to be in a huge amount of pain after clashing heads with Moravek, who accidentally ran into the Austrian and seems to have knocked out one of the defender's teeth after the two clashed heads.
57'
Rafinha enters the game and replaces A. Vidal.
Vidal has been in the wars today, and after receiving a nasty blow to the head inside the Bayern penalty area he's replaced by Rafinha for the remainder of the game.
55'
A. Esswein enters the game and replaces Koo Ja-Cheol.
J. Morávek enters the game and replaces P. Trochowski.
Augsburg have decided to make a double substitution. The first player to come on is Esswein, who replaces Koo.
And the second is Moravek, who takes the place of Trochowski.
53'
After dealing with a half-hearted Bayern attacking move, Augsburg are finally able to break away on their first counter-attack of the second half. Bobadilla charges forward before unleashing a strike from 25 yards out, but it takes a heavy deflection that sends it out for a corner on the left wing. Trochowski curls the resulting set-piece into the heart of the penalty area, but it ends up flying just a yard or so over the head of Caiuby, who did well to rise high above his marker.
51'
Once again, Bernat cuts inside from the left flank before sending a lofted pass over to Robben on the opposite wing. The Dutchman controls the ball well before cutting inside and sending a thumping cross towards Lewandowski, but it deflects off the shoulder of Gouweleeuw and away from danger.
49'
And now Costa goes close! The Brazilian twists and turns on the left-hand side of the penalty area as he easily sprints past Verhaegh, who can't keep up with the winger, before firing a low strike towards the near post, but Hitz does well to stop the shot from finding the back of the net.
47'
Early chance for Robben! Bernat embarks on a marauding run down the left flank before cutting inside and working the ball over to the Dutchman, who skips past Max with ease before unleashing a thumping shot with his left foot that ends up looping just a yard or so over the top of the crossbar.
46'
And we're underway once again!
45'
Great save by Hitz! Costa steps up and unleashes a curling strike from the free-kick that comfortably beats the wall of Augsburg players before heading towards the top right-hand corner of the net, but the Swiss goalkeeper is there to beat it away before the referee brings an end to what has been a thoroughly entertaining first half.
44'
Robben charges towards the edge of the Augsburg penalty area and is clumsily fouled by Kohr just as he's about to penetrate the box, resulting in a free-kick for Bayern in an incredibly dangerous position. It looks as if they're going to use this chance to test Hitz, but will it result in a second goal with what could prove to be their final chance of the first half?
42'
The pace of the game has slowed down somewhat over the past two minutes, but Bayern remain firmly in control and are continuing to enjoy the vast majority of possession. As a result, Augsburg are finding it incredibly difficult to get anywhere near the ball, and every time they do so they are quickly closed down by the visitors' hard-working players, all of whom are working their socks off.
40'
Costa, like Robben on the opposite flank, is having a wonderful time down the left wing, and he's causing Koo and Verhaegh all kinds of problems. Once again he skips past the Augsburg duo before cutting a low cross back to the aforementioned Dutchman, who immediately tees up Lahm with a deft through-ball. The latter then chips a cross into the heart of the penalty area, but Hitz is there to clear the danger with a strong fist.
38'
Muller and Robben link up well once again deep down the right wing before the Dutchman tries to penetrate the Augsburg penalty area, but this time Max does well to keep him at bay before dispossessing him with a well-timed tackle at the vital moment.
36'
Bayern go close! Once again, Robben cuts inside from the right wing and beats two Augsburg players before teeing up Lewandowski. The Polish striker quickly fires a low shot that's blocked well by Hong, before Muller's follow-up deflects off the chest of Verhaegh. The ball then bounces out of the penalty area and towards Vidal, but once again the Chilean's 20-yard strike fails to find its intended target.
34'
Costa twists and turns on the left wing and embarks on a lovely run as he beats two Augsburg players with ease. He then fires a low cross towards Lewandowski, but it takes a deflection off the outstretched foot of Hong that sends it out for a corner. The set-piece is taken short and quickly worked over to Robben, who then cuts inside from the right wing and unleashes a low shot that is fired straight into the hands of Hitz in the middle of the goal.
32'
Robben and Muller link up well on the right-hand side of the Augsburg penalty area but the latter's attempted pass towards Lewandowski ends up deflecting into the path of Vidal. The midfielder meets it in plenty of space and decides to unleash a first-time strike from 20 yards out, but there's too much power on the shot and, as a result, it flies comfortably over the top of the crossbar.
30'
Bayern revert to calmly working the ball around as they look to hold on to possession for as long as possible. They are impressing every time they push forward and are doing well to constantly put Augsburg under continued pressure.
28'
A curling cross from Bernat can only find Max on the right-hand side of the Augsburg box, but the left-back's attempted headed clearance ends up bouncing over to Robben. The Dutchman then picks out Muller with a chipped pass back into the penalty area, but the forward's header doesn't have the required power behind it to beat Hitz.
26'
It's all Bayern at the moment as they patiently pass the ball around inside the Augsburg half of the pitch, but the hosts look well organised and resolute and, as a result, the league leaders are finding it difficult to turn their possession into chances on goal.
24'
Under pressure from Bobadilla, Alaba ends up sending a rushed headed clearance out of play for a corner on the right wing. Trochowski's cross from the set-piece finds Hong, who rises high above his marker in the middle of the Bayern box, but the centre-back's header ends up flying comfortably wide of the far post.
22'
Lewandowski goes close again! Lahm twists and turns on the edge of the Augsburg box as he weaves his way past four white shirts. He then tees up the Polish striker, who immediately unleashes a curling shot from 20 yards out, but it ends up rolling just a yard or so wide of the near post.
21'
Bayern fall asleep on the ball deep inside their own half of the pitch, allowing Augsburg to regain possession before Verhaegh curls in a cross from the right flank. It finds Trochowski on the edge of the penalty area, but the midfielder's attempted header over to Caiuby is poor and is easily cut out by Lahm.
19'
Augsburg patiently pass the ball around as they try to find a way into the Bayern half of the pitch, but the pressure being exerted on them by the visitors is making life extremely hard. As a result, they are finding it difficult to make it past the halfway line.
17'
Again, Bobadilla is presented with a chance to bring the ball down deep inside the Bayern half of the pitch after Max launches a lofted pass forward, but the striker's first touch is poor and gifts possession back to the visitors, who immediately break away on another determined attack.
15'
R. Lewandowski has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by T. Müller.
That was a lovely cross from Muller that perfectly picked out Lewandowski, but he was arguably left in too much space, which presented him with the time to find the Polish striker.
GOAL! Bayern have taken the lead! Muller picks up the ball in space on the right wing and immediately sends a low cross towards the penalty spot, where it finds Lewandowski. The striker controls it well and spins round Kohr with ease before unleashing a thumping strike that flies past the outstretched arms of Hitz and finds the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
13'
What a chance for Bobadilla! A cross-field pass from Vidal is cut out brilliantly by Max, who then charges down the left flank before curling a cross into the heart of the Bayern penalty area. It's wonderfully hit by the full-back and finds the Paraguayan striker in front of goal, but the bounce takes him by surprise and he ends up handling the ball before he can get a shot away.
11'
Lewandowki is clipped by Klavan, resulting in a free-kick for Bayern 30 yards away from the Augsburg goal. They take the set-piece quickly and work the ball over to Muller, but the forward's low cross from the right-hand side of the penalty area is cut out by the aforementioned Estonian centre-back at the vital moment.
9'
Robben, who has seen plenty of the ball thus far, twists and turns as he embarks on another purposeful run down the right wing. He then cuts into the penalty area before poking the ball back to Thiago, but the Spaniard brings a promising attacking move to a disappointing end with a first-time shot that comfortably sails over the top of the crossbar.
7'
Muller finds himself in a pocket of space just outside of the Augsburg penalty area, and he immediately takes advantage of it by swinging a low cross into the middle of the box. It fails to find a red shirt, however, but ends up bouncing back to Lahm, but his poked pass towards Lewandowski is misplaced and ends up bouncing into the hands of Hitz.
5'
Robben darts down the right flank on a great run before sending a deft through-ball into the path of Muller. The forward meets it well before trying to swing a low cross towards Lewandowski, but Caiuby does brilliantly to throw his body in the way of the pass to stop it from finding the Polish striker.
3'
It's been a positive start to the game from Augsburg, as they are moving the ball around with purpose and have enjoyed the vast majority of possession thus far. After patiently working their way forward Max sends a lofted pass up towards the edge of the Bayern penalty area, where it finds Bobadilla. The striker brings it down well and spins before trying to tee up Koo, but the Paraguayan's pass fails to find the South Korean and is quickly cut out by Alaba.
1'
And we're off! Augsburg get us underway, attacking from left to right.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Bundesliga game between Augsburg and Bayern Munich at the WWK Arena.
A rare slip-up in last weekend’s game against Bayer Leverkusen resulted in Bayern being held to a goalless draw by the third-place side, but they nonetheless remain in an advantageous position at the top of the Bundesliga table. Pep Guardiola’s team returned to winning ways during the week with a comfortable 3-0 victory away to Bochum in the DFB-Pokal, and as such they make the short trip across Bavaria full of confidence about their chances of picking up all three points. Borussia Dortmund remain their only challengers for the title as a result of yesterday’s win against Hannover, and with just five points separating the two sides a victory here today is imperative if the Reds are to keep the Black and Yellows at bay for another week.
This afternoon’s clash could prove to be a slightly tricky one, however, as Augsburg have proven themselves to be one of Bayern’s most difficult opponents in recent years. It was they who handed Guardiola his first defeat in German football when they won 1-0 on this very ground two seasons ago, whilst last campaign they were one of just five teams to beat the reigning champions in a domestic game. Even the last meeting between the two sides at the Allianz Arena back in September was a tight affair, as a last-minute Thomas Muller penalty was all that separated the two teams.
It’s been a tough few weeks for Augsburg, however, and they head into today’s encounter in a very precarious position. Without a win in their last three games, they currently sit just one point clear of 16th-place Werder Bremen, but that is largely due to the awful run of form that characterised a miserable October for Markus Weinzierl’s men. Nonetheless, their recent successes against their Bavarian rivals no doubt mean that they are quietly confident about their chances of pulling off a major upset today, and Bayern’s injury troubles will also have resulted in them believing that they have enough in their locker to shock the reigning champions.
Markus Weinzierl has decided to make three changes to the Augsburg side that lost 2-1 away to Ingolstadt last weekend, with Philipp Max, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Piotr Trochowski coming into the starting line-up to replace Kostas Stafylidis, Alexander Esswein and Dong-Won Ji, respectively.
Meanwhile, Bayern boss Pep Guardiola has made two alterations to the side that featured in the aforementioned win against Bochum, with the main talking point being the injury suffered by Holger Badstuber, who broke his ankle in training yesterday and will now be out for three months. As a result, he’s replaced in the starting 11 by Juan Bernat, whilst Arturo Vidal comes in to take the place of the suspended Xabi Alonso.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: AUGSBURG 0-1 BAYERN MUNICH
It's been a difficult opening 45 minutes for Augsburg, who have spent the vast majority of the first half camped deep inside their own half of the pitch due to the pressure being put on them by an impressive Bayern side. The visitors have dominated the game thus far and have continually put the hosts under plenty of pressure, resulting in them heading into the half-time break with a well-deserved one-goal lead thanks to a well-worked goal finished off by Lewandowski. The Polish striker hasn't seen a great deal of the ball but has been ruthless when presented with chances, which has made life extremely tough for Hong and Klavan.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: AUGSBURG 1-3 BAYERN MUNICH
In the end it was an incredibly comfortable game for Bayern, who were easily able to beat an Augsburg side that struggled to find much joy when pushing forward. Down both flanks the league leaders ran riot, with Robben, Costa and Muller all thoroughly enjoying themselves when drifting out wide. They fell asleep momentarily late on, which allowed Bobadilla to pull a goal back for the hosts, but in the end it mattered little as the visitors were able to ease their way over the finish line to restore their eight-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table.
