44'

42'
OUCH! Aguero looks to sparkle outside Liverpool's penalty area as he sets up a one-two with Silva. The reverse pass flies loosely towards the Argentine as Lucas rushes out of defence and lunges into the City striker, bringing him to the floor. He's lucky to have escaped a booking there.

17'
Both Sakho and Can are now back on their feet after that earlier clash of heads, though they understandably look groggy for the time being. Liverpool are still dominating possession at the moment as City look to launch lethal counter-attacks.
16'

Both sides look as though they are feeling the strain of playing for so long now as a slow opening period of extra time continues to play out. City's substitutes have been bright since coming on due to their fresh legs.

Welcome back again! City get us under way for the first half of extra time.
Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE text commentary on the Capital One Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester City from Wembley Stadium. Kick-off is at 4:30pm.
The first piece of silverware for the 2015-16 season is up for grabs and a fantastic final looks in store, with City looking to complete what could be the first part of a trophy treble, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp takes his side to Wembley just under five months after taking charge at Anfield.
Manuel Pellegrini's City overcame Dynamo Kiev during the week by securing a 3-1 victory to put themselves in a commanding position in their Champions League last-16 tie. City's stars came out in force with Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Yaya Toure all finding the net.
Liverpool put in a resilient performance on Thursday to secure their place in the last 16 of the Europa League courtesy of a narrow 1-0 win over Augsburg at Anfield. The Reds have struggled for consistency since Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in October, but a win this afternoon would be a huge moment for the club and the German to make a statement moving forward.
The team news has been confirmed by both managers, so let's take a look at the sides, starting with Manchester City.
The two teams are out on the pitch, the fireworks have been and gone and now for the pre-match handshakes.
MANCHESTER CITY substitutes: Hart, Kolarov, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Navas, Iheanacho, Bony.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-2-3-1): Caballero; Sagna, Kompany (c), Otamendi, Clichy; Toure, Fernando; Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling; Aguero.
LIVERPOOL substitutes: Bogdan, Toure, Benteke, Allen, Lallana, Origi, Flanagan.
It's honours even here at Wembley as both sets of players down the tunnel for the half-time interval. It was quite an evenly-matched opening 45 minutes, in truth, with both sides huffing and puffing without really getting into second gear.
The best chance of the first half without doubt fell City's way as Sergio Aguero left a dizzy Mamadou Sakho flat-footed inside the penalty area, before driving a low shot towards goal which Simon Mignolet brilliantly tipped onto the post. Other than that one opportunity, it was difficult to split the two.
EXTRA TIME TO COME! The referee calls time on the second half and we still can't split the sides. City appeared to be closing in on the cup before Philippe Coutinho popped up to score a well-taken tap-in with 10 minutes of normal time to go.
City will be so frustrated that it has come to extra time because they had the chances to win it in 90 minutes. Sterling missed two great efforts from close range, while they arguably should have had a penalty after Aguero was fouled by Moreno inside the box.
HALF-TIME IN EXTRA TIME: LIVERPOOL 1-1 MANCHESTER CITY
END OF EXTRA TIME! We are heading to penalties here at Wembley. Both sets of players have put their all into the match, which will now be decided via spot-kicks.
Both managers are talking to all of their players now, asking who feels confident enough to take a penalty. Both goalkeepers will feel confident ahead of the shootout after coming up with heroics at times today respectively.
GOAL! Liverpool lead 1-0 in the shootout thanks to Can, who cheekily chips the ball down the middle past Caballero. What a pen!

GOAL! Navas levels the shootout as he just about strokes the ball beyond Mignolet!

SAVED! Coutinho pauses during the run-up, before he guides a poor penalty straight at Caballero!
SAVED! It's magnificent from Caballero as he stretches to his right to deny a well-taken penalty from Lallana. 1-2 City!
GOAL! Yaya Toure smashes the ball past Mignolet as Man City win the League Cup!
FULL TIME: LIVERPOOL 1-1 MANCHESTER CITY (City win 3-1 on pens).
Manuel Pellegrini will end his time at Manchester City with at least one trophy as his side beat Liverpool 3-1 on penalties at Wembley. The two sides drew 1-1 after normal time and couldn't be split after an extra 30 minutes, leaving it to spot-kicks.
Philippe Coutinho cancelled out Fernandinho's opener for Man City with a late strike to take the tie to extra time. Wilfredo Caballero came up with the goods to deny Liverpool a few times in extra time, before proving to be the hero in the shootout.
