There will be two minutes added on at the end of this match.
88'
OFF THE WOODWORK! That's the sort of night it has been for the Italian outfit. Perotti gets a glorious chance inside the area and places his shot past Navas, but it rattles off the post, back off the keeper and somehow goes behind, instead of across the line!
86'
Maicon enters the game and replaces S. Kéita.
A final switch for Roma as well now, which sees Keita replaced by Maicon. The midfielder had a thankless task tonight in midfield and he's going to be left licking his wounds once this one is over.
84'
M. Kovačić enters the game and replaces Casemiro.
The hosts make their final change and it's Mateo Kovacic - who knows Roma well having spent time in Italy before arriving in Madrid - coming on to replace Casemiro.
82'
The life has been sucked out of the match, with Madrid passing the ball around in the attacking half without any sense of urgency. Roma aren't keen on applying pressure on the hosts in possession, allowing them to run these final minutes off the clock.
80'
STAT: Real Madrid have won the away first leg in Europe on 30 occasions, and only once were they eliminated - after losing 0-2 at home to Odense in 94/95 UEFA Cup.
78'
Real Madrid are toying with Roma now, threatening to add to their lead. The visitors are completely discouraged, however, dropping off and showing little signs of producing a fight over the final 10 minutes. They'll be desperate for the full-time whistle now.
76'
E. Zukanović gets yellow.
Jesé enters the game and replaces L. Modrić.
Modric receives an equally warm applause from these fans as he's withdrawn for the final 15 minutes. He's been one of the best players on the pitch tonight. Jese, who scored the second in Rome, comes on to take his place.
Frustration starts to set in as Zukanovic becomes the first Roma player booked.
74'
F. Totti enters the game and replaces S. El Shaarawy.
A standing ovation at the Santiago Bernabeu - a wonderful sign of respect from these Madrid fans - as Francesco Totti comes on for what is likely his Champions League swansong. It's not how he'll have envisioned going out, but it's a deserved cameo for the long-time Giallorossi forward. El Shaarawy gives way.

Description
72'
Roma hearts are left smashed to a million pieces. They battled admirably, and had three glorious chances to cut the aggregate deficit in half with the game still scoreless, but misses from Dzeko and two from Salah prevented them from putting the game on a knife's edge - and they've been made to pay.
70'
He's missed a sitter! Oh my, you can't make that up. Lucas plays Ronaldo clean through on goal, and he has half the goal to aim at with Szczesny scrambling to get into position, but somehow rolls his finish beyond the far post!
68'
J. Rodríguez has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo picks out an assist to go with his goal.
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT NOW! Madrid through to the quarters as James is played through into the area by Ronaldo before rolling a delightful finish through the legs of Szczesny from a very difficult angle.
66'
Play will resume shortly, but there's a delay as Szczesny gets attended to. He collided hard with his defender as he came off his line to challenge in the build-up to the goal there.
64'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Lucas Vázquez.
THERE'S THE GOAL THAT SURELY SENDS REAL MADRID THROUGH! There will be little doubt about Los Blancos' place in the quarter-finals now, as Ronaldo sneaks behind Manolas and gets on the end of a delightful ball in from Lucas, before lifting his volley into the ceiling of the goal! That's an outstanding finish.
It's an assist for Lucas just minutes after coming on! His first real contribution sees him set-up the game's opening goal.
63'
STAT: No team has scored more goals than Real Madrid in the Champions League this season (21, alongside Bayern Munich), while Roma's games have produced more goals than any other team in the competition this campaign: 29 (11 for, 18 against).
61'
Lucas Vázquez enters the game and replaces G. Bale.
On his first start back from injury, Bale is replaced just past the hour mark with Zidane not wanting to take any chances. Lucas Vazquez replaces him.
60'
THEY CAN'T BUY A GOAL! The subsequent corner sees the ball fall kindly for Manolas at the far post, but his half-volley is somehow kept out by Navas, who came flying off his line to close down the angle! Back come Madrid and Modric's shot from distance deflects just over the bar!
58'
OUTSTANDING FROM FLORENZI! The full-back gets all the way forward and gets beyond a couple of challenges, before poking the ball past Pepe to get through on goal. His shot is stopped brilliantly by Navas, before the rebound is ushered behind off the head of Ramos!
56'
ANOTHER CHANCE SQUANDERED! What will it take for the deadlock to be broken in this match?! Manolas' errant clearance sends the ball straight into the path of Marcelo inside the area. The full-back has time, but opts to send a half-volley at goal with his weaker foot, which Szczesny is able to keep out easily at the near post.
54'
STAT: Real Madrid have won 28 of their last 33 Champions League games at the Bernabeu (D3 L2). The last time they lost by two clear goals at home was in April 2011 against Barcelona (0-2).
52'
SHOCKING MISS! Another massive chance for Roma goes begging! Dzeko pokes a ball through for Salah, who got in behind Ramos, and the Egyptian has the goal at his mercy yet again! He has time to pick his head up and try to roll a finish in at the near post, but again sends his effort wide!
50'
ROMA HOLDING ON FOR DEAR LIFE! Marcelo somehow gets through about three or four challenges inside the area, including one from Szczesny, but manages to keep play alive. It eventually comes back into the centre for James, but he's denied by a wonderful reactionary stop from the Roma keeper!
48'
Real Madrid on the front foot at the start of this second half, which they have begun with a real sign of intent. There's a much better directness about their play now as they search for the goal that would end Roma's comeback hopes.
46'
W. Vainqueur enters the game and replaces M. Pjanić.
Boos rain down as the Roma players come out of the tunnel a bit late, but they've got this second half underway now in Madrid.
A bit of a surprise swap at the break as the more defensive-minded William Vainqueur comes on to replace Miralem Pjanic.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 ROMA.
45'
The board goes up to indicate one minute of added time, as Zukanovic gets his body in front of another Ronaldo effort to deflect it behind for a corner.
43'
Back and forth they go! It takes a last-ditch tackle from Florenzi to deny Bale at one end after a good header was flicked on towards the far post from James. Back the other way come Roma, and Salah nearly beats two defenders for pace, but Ramos is able to slide in at the vital moment to halt the counter.
41'
Roma on the front foot, searching for the goal that will bring this tie to life. They certainly don't appear to be short of belief, but the execution in and around goal needs a bit of improving. Salah tries to curl a shot in at the far post from atop the area, but Navas is wise to it.
39'
STAT: The only previous encounter between Roma and Real Madrid in the knockout stages of the Champions League saw the Italian side progress 4-2 on aggregate in the Last 16 of the 2007/08 edition.
37'
Danilo gets yellow.
Crunching tackle from Danilo! Frustration sets in for the full-back, who has had a couple of decisions go against him in this first half. He slides dangerously into the feet of El Shaarawy and will not be able to escape a booking - the first of the night for either side.
35'
SZCZESNY SAVES AGAIN! Lovely interplay from the hosts as Ronaldo is played into the area, but he's denied by the Roma keeper at the near post! Pressure stays on following the corner, but Kroos lifts a strike just over the bar.
33'
Play comes to a halt with Danilo picking up a knock after an aerial duel. It has been a highly entertaining football match up to this point, and Roma are still hanging around, making life difficult on the Madrid outfit. The first goal will be decisive, but there's no telling who may get it.
31'
MAGIC FEET! Bale does so well to dribble his way through the tightest of spaces inside the final third, navigating his way beyond a few defenders before lifting a shot just over the bar! Madrid win the ball right back and Ronaldo does the exact same, but this time Szczesny is able to parry the effort!
29'
STAT: Roma have won seven league matches in a row, scoring 22 goals in the process while conceding just five (averaging over three goals scored per game).
27'
SIDE-NETTING! Controversy around the ground as the boos rain down from these Madrid supporters. Danilo is hacked down by Digne, and play comes to a virtual halt as both sides expect a free-kick. The referee waves play on, and Dzeko promptly plays Salah through on goal, but the winger misses by inches at the near post! How controversial would that have been?!
25'
The tempo picks up yet again as we move past the midway point of the first half. Dzeko goes in at one end, but lacks support and fails to get a shot off, while the seas part for Modric at the other - but the Croatian can't make good contact as he scuffs an effort wide of the far post.
23'
The hosts are keeping the ball very well and doing much better to prevent Roma from finding space out wide on the counter. Too much time is elapsing between Giallorossi's attacks. They need to find more consistency if they are to put some pressure on Real Madrid.
21'
TERRIFIC SAVE! Pressure continues to build from Madrid, in search of a goal that would all but send them through to the next round. Modric latches onto a pass from 25-yards out and rifles a strike at goal. It takes a deflection en route, but Szczesny reacts brilliantly to keep it out!
19'
STAT: Roma are one of three clubs to have registered more wins than defeats against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Champions League, alongside Arsenal and Barcelona. The Italian side have won two, drawn one and lost one.
17'
There's a real sense around the ground that Roma may be growing in confidence. The visitors are defending each Madrid attack with a real calmness about them, with Szczesny more than assured in coming off his line to claim balls played in from out wide - and they certainly aren't lacking for pace on the break.
15'
HE HAS TO BE SCORING THERE! That was the chance for Roma to get themselves back into the tie! It's a textbook counter from the visitors, spearheaded by the pace and directness of Salah. He roles a pass across the top of the area which Perotti dummies into the path of Dzeko. The striker has the goal at his mercy, but can't pass the ball into the net, missing at the near post!
13'
GOOD CHANCE! Ronaldo goes to ground rather easily under slight contact from Florenzi, winning his side a free-kick just a few yards outside the area to the left of goal. The Portugal international takes it himself, and strikes it very well, but his effort sails over the bar!
11'
RECKLESS FROM CASEMIRO! The midfielder is very fortunate not to be booked as he commits himself to a challenge on Pjanic, sliding in very late at the feet of the midfielder. He's on a yellow card, so another booking would see him miss the first leg of the quarter-finals, should they advance. Ramos is in the same situation.
9'
STAT: Real Madrid have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League for the 19th consecutive season, longest run in the history of the competition. They've reached the semi-finals in each of the last five seasons.
7'
PENALTY APPEALS DENIED! It's a good decision in the end from the Polish referee. Ronaldo latches onto a re-directed cross from Danilo, launching a first-time shot at goal from just outside the area. Zukanovic again flings his body in front of it, and the ball bounces off his leg before touching part of his arm, eventually rolling into the hands of Szczesny. He could do very little about that.
5'
There's a brilliant tempo to the match early on. It's incredibly stretched, with Roma needing to throw caution to the wind as they try to erase this two-goal deficit. Another teasing attack from the visitors sees Florenzi whip a cross in behind the defence, but it just evades El Shaarawy at the far post!
3'
Despite their commanding lead, Real Madrid start on the front foot. Marcelo makes an inquisitive run into the final third and cuts onto his right, but Zukanovic is able to block the final shot. Back the other way come Roma and Navas isn't convincing in coming off his line to claim a cross, as he winds up punching team-mate Pepe in the face.

Real Madrid get the game underway in the Spanish capital!
Hello and welcome to live coverage from the Santiago Bernabeu as Real Madrid play host to Roma in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie! Zinedine Zidane’s side hold the significant edge, bringing a two-goal lead back with them to Madrid courtesy of goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese. The Italian outfit put up quite a fight in the first leg, and came close on several occasions to taking the lead, but squandered their opportunities and are now faced with the daunting task of trying to turn this tie around in the Spanish capital.
Roma’s league form has been nothing short of remarkable over the last month, steamrolling everyone who crosses their path. The same can’t be said of Real Madrid, although as their title hopes evaporated over the past few weeks, focus has shifted solely on the Champions League. This competition serves as their best chance to salvage something from what has been an ultimately disappointing season, while the Giallorossi remain in a tightly contested battle for third place in Serie A.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
REAL MADRID (4-3-3): Navas; Danilo, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric; James, Bale, Ronaldo.
ROMA (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Florenzi, Manolas, Zukanovic, Digne; Pjanic, Keita; Salah, Perotti, El Shaarawy; Dzeko.
SUBS: Lobont, Castan, Totti, Maicon, Vainqueur, De Sanctis, Torosidis.
Zinedine Zidane makes four changes from their first-leg victory at the Stadio Olimpico. With Karim Benzema injured, Cristiano Ronaldo will again shoulder the load up top, paving the way for Gareth Bale's return to the team. The Wales international scored off the bench on the weekend against Celta and has been deemed fit enough to start this evening, joining Ronaldo and James Rodriguez in attack. Casemiro is rewarded for a strong start on the weekend with a start in midfield ahead of Isco, where he joins Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. In defence, both Pepe and Danilo come into the side after missing the first leg in Italy, forcing Daniel Carvajal and Raphael Varane to the bench.
The Giallorossi's difficult task was made even more daunting with the news that Antonio Rudiger and Radja Nainggolan would miss out. Ervin Zukanovic comes into defence to replace the German, while Luciano Spalletti reverts to a two-man midfield duo in the Belgian's absence, electing to bring striker Edin Dzeko into the starting line-up. Needing goals, Roma have trotted out a very attack-minded starting XI, with the Bosnian joined by Stephan El Shaarawy, Diego Perotti and Mohamed Salah.
Scoreless at the end of a wild first half in Spain, that certainly wasn't lacking in the entertainment department. Real Madrid had the better of possession, as well as abundance of chances, but it's Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah who came closest to breaking the deadlock for the visitors. Roma aren't backing down, and it appears as though we're in store for an enjoyable second half at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Second-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez see Los Blancos convincingly though to the quarter-finals and the Giallorossi out of Europe. Real Madrid replicate the scoreline from the first leg as they go through to the next round without conceding, remaining the only team - along with Barcelona - still unbeaten in the competition this season.
That's all for our live coverage from the Santiago Bernabeu, thanks for following along. Good bye!
