J. Fuenzalida has scored a goal for Chile! Assist by Fabián Orellana.
Orellana provides the cross, as the two substitutes combine to get Chile their consolation goal.
CONSOLATION FOR CHILE! Well they have something to celebrate at last! Romero senselessly comes off his line for a cross he was never going to get to, and substitute Jose Pedro Funzalida manages to head past the stranded keeper with the last touch of the match!
90' +2
BRAVO PREVENTS A THIRD! Another counter from Argentina for good measure, as they work their way forward clinically. Lamela's cross is blocked, but it comes straight back to him at the near post, in a near identical location to where both their goals came from, only this time Bravo is up to the task!
90'
There will be three minutes added on at the end of this match.
89'
Unless Chile can get a late goal here, they're poised to move bottom of Group D ahead of their clash with Bolivia in four day's time at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Argentina will face-off against Panama in Chicago, a battle between the two winners from matchday one.
87'
M. Kranevitter enters the game and replaces N. Gaitán.
Gaitan makes his way off, but not before exchanging words with a clearly frustrated Arturo Vidal. Entering the match is Atletico Madrid midfielder Matias Kranevitter.
86'
J. Beausejour gets yellow.
STAT: Argentina have not conceded versus Chile since the 1959 edition when the Albiceleste won 6-1 – since that game, Argentina have kept a clean sheet in all the following seven encounters.
Yellow card Jean André Emanuel Beausejour Coliqueo
84'
For the first time in this second half, the pace is slowing, with Argentina doing a lovely job of suffocating Chile in midfield. The stoppages aren't helping matters, while fatigue is certainly becoming an issue with legs not entirely loose yet being the first game of the tournament.
82'
J. Fuenzalida enters the game and replaces C. Aránguiz.
Charles Aranguiz gives way after a mixed performance. His work rate was superb, and he had some very bright moments in midfield, but a giveaway that resulted in Argentina's opening goal put a damper on his night. Defender Jose Pedro Fuenzalida replaces him.
80'
É. Lamela enters the game and replaces Á. Di María.
A second change for Argentina as their man of the hour, Angel di Maria, gives way to Erik Lamela - who played just six minutes at the Copa America last summer.

Description
78'
Well that really sums up the evening for Chile, doesn't it? A terrific cross to the far post is met by Alexis, but he slips at the vital moment, getting his feet all tangled up as he fails to play the ball back across the face of goal.
76'
STAT: Chile have lost three and won just one of their games since Juan Antonio Pizzi took over for Jorge Sampaoli at the end of January (lost to Argentina, Jamaica and Mexico; beat Venezuela).
74'
S. Agüero enters the game and replaces G. Higuaín.
Higuain did very well to lead the line tonight, and he gets a deserved rest for the final 15 minutes, with Sergio Aguero replacing him.
72'
Chile unhappy as Gaitan requires attention after Beausejour accidentally stepped on his hand. The left-back quickly apologises for his role in the play, but no love is lost between these two sides.
71'
Well-worked move from Chile, which should provide a bit of encouragement, but Pinilla overruns the ball atop the area as the chance goes begging! La Roja are really struggling to pick out the decisive pass inside the final third.
69'
M. Rojo gets yellow.
Rojo gets his hands high up on his opponent and the referee doesn't hesitate in booking him.
68'
M. Pinilla enters the game and replaces E. Vargas.
Vargas slams down his waterbottle on the touchline, unhappy with being subbed off. Mauricio Pinilla is on to replace him - he has eight goals in 41 senior caps.
67'
CRITICAL SAVE! Poor positioning from Chile at the back, and Argentina punish their high line as Higuain is played through into the right channel. The striker lashes an effort across goal, but Bravo sticks his foot out to make the save!
65'
Á. Di María gets yellow.
G. Medel gets yellow.
Chile starting to lose their heads, and Gary Medel, a pitbull in every sense of the word, is booked for his role in a coming together with Di Maria.
Di Maria is booked for his part in the altercation as well.
63'
This is turning into a counter-attacking masterclass from Argentina, as Chile are starting to fall apart. They're completely losing their shape, with no one backing each other up, and the Albiceleste are making the most of the space made available to them on the counter.
61'
The next goal now proves huge for Chile, who are bottom of Group D as things stand. They don't want to risk worsening their goal differential, so throwing caution to the wind isn't an option, but they will have to start sending more bodies forward.
59'
É. Banega has scored a goal for Argentina! Assist by Á. Di María.
Di Maria turns scorer to provider, spearheading the break as he picks up an assist.
BANEGA DOUBLES THEIR LEAD! Di Maria plays Banega through on the left, and the midfielder's strike takes a deflection off Isla as it wrong-foots Bravo! Again the keeper is beaten at the near post, from a near identical location, but there's not much he could do about this one.
58'
STRAIGHT AT THE KEEPER! That's arguably the best chance Chile have had all night! Beausejour makes a tidy overlapping run and plays a much better ball into the area this time around, where Orellana meets it at the far post. The substitute bounces a half-volley at goal, but hits it directly at Romero!
56'
STAT: Argentina have not lost a Copa America debut game since 1979 (1-2 vs Bolivia), winning seven and drawing five of the last 12 opening games, including two draws in the most recent two.
54'
Fabián Orellana enters the game and replaces E. Mena.
Attacker Fabian Orellana is out to replace the injured Mena, which will see Beausejour drop into the left-back role.
53'
Mena has pulled up behind the play and that forces the medical staff out. It looks a really bad one for the left-back who pulls up clutching his hamstring. That's a tough blow for Mena who won't be able to continue as the stretcher comes out.
51'
Á. Di María has scored a goal for Argentina! Assist by É. Banega.
Banega finally produces the moment of quality Argentina have been lacking, and he picks up the assist.
GOAAAAAAAAAL FOR ARGENTINA! Aranguiz is dispossessed in midfield by Banega, who promptly plays Di Maria through into the area. The PSG man takes a touch to control and then beats Bravo at the near post with his second! Lovely, composed finish from Di Maria to break the deadlock!
50'
Alexis tests Romero again! Great athleticism from the Arsenal forward to turn on a dime, past Mercado and onto his right foot. He curls an effort at goal, but the placement is off as he sends it straight at Romero.
48'
You have to admire the effort! Diaz latches onto a weak clearance and smashes a half-volley at goal, through a crowd. It takes a slight deflection and goes behind for a corner. The ensuing delivery is met by Vargas, but he heads over!
46'
HERE WE GO AGAIN!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: ARGENTINA 0-0 CHILE.
45'
The free-kick from Banega strikes the wall as the board goes up to indicate one minute of stoppage time.
44'
M. Isla gets yellow.
Back the other way come Argentina and a foul by Isla concedes a free-kick in a dangerous area, while picking up a yellow card to add make matters worse.
43'
IMPORTANT CLEARANCE! The pace picks up again with the interval approaching. Alexis has drifted into a central role and a clever turn sees him past his man, before picking out Beausejour in space on the left. The winger tries to pick out Vargas at the far post, but Funes Mori reaches out a leg to hook the ball clear!
41'
MUCH BETTER! Playground football from Argentina as Rojo and Gaitan switch play twice, passing it amongst themselves from opposite flanks, before the left-back squares for Mercado. The right-back has shown his scoring capabilities in qualifying, but he doesn't have the touch this time as he lifts an effort over the bar.
39'
An uncharacteristically errant pass out from the back by Bravo gives possession straight back to Argentina - Di Maria specifically. The PSG forward skips by one challenge before playing one into the centre for Higuain, but the striker's control eludes him atop the area as frustration continues to build for the Albiceleste in attack.
37'
This is a concern for Chile as Aranguiz, who spent the majority of the 2015/16 club season sidelined with a torn Achilles, is down and clutching his ankle after a challenge near the halfway line. The medical staff comes out to have a look, but after further examination it doesn't look like it's too big a deal.
35'
Chile very much on the ascendency, and it has everything to do with their midfield trio busting a gut to get up and down the pitch to great effect. Argentina's possession has been a bit limited since the half-hour mark, and they haven't had a chance in over 10 minutes now.
33'
Romero thwarts Sanchez again! The Arsenal forward has an admirable go at goal from a free-kick about 30 yards out. He gets good bend on his shot, and the placement is perfect, but it lacks the pace as Romero is able to scamper across and pluck it away from the top corner.
31'
For all the questions Argentina are posing in the final third, Chile have had the answers, largely in thanks to their midfield trio. Vidal, Diaz and Aranguiz have such incredible work rates, and their tracking back has helped to frustrate the Albiceleste in their pursuit of picking out the perfect pass.
29'
ROMERO COMES UP HUGE! Another careless giveaway from Argentina, this one from Funes Mori, gifts Alexis a chance atop the area. He has a clear sight of goal, but Romero makes himself big and gets enough of the strike to knock it behind for a corner!
27'
STAT: No other team (than Chile) have faced another nation in the Copa America as many times as La Roja have against Argentina (25) without winning.
25'
Dreadful in the end! It's a wonderful tackle from Aranguiz that sees Chile win the ball back in midfield and break quickly. The midfielder sprints forward and finds Alexis, who plays a lovely diagonal ball through for Beausejour, but the winger's cross is terribly over-hit as it sails behind for a goal-kick.
23'
THEY'RE INCHING CLOSER! Wonderful overlapping run from Banega to cover the outside channel as Argentina go box-to-box in a matter of seconds. The soon to be Inter midfielder delivers a low cross in towards the near post for Higuain, but his first-time effort is deflected narrowly behind by Medel!
21'
PENALTY APPEALS DENIED! Everyone is yelling at the referee, from both teams. Di Maria shows his quick feet to dart into the area, where he goes to ground following an inaccuous coming together with Isla. Chile want a foul for simulation, while Argentina shout penalty, but they have to settle for a corner.
19'
A. Vidal gets yellow.
Vidal picks up the first yellow card of the night as referee Daniel Fedorczuk from Uruguay takes charge with the foul count rising. Gaitan has been battered and bruised with Chile struggling to slow him, and another clever bit of skill forces Vidal into committing a foul.
17'
IMPORTANT RECOVERY! Diaz makes a horrid pass in midfield to gift Argentina possession and a chance on the break. Di Maria sprints down the left and has Higuain making a run to his right, but a good show of determination from the Chile midfielder sees him get back in time to cut out the pass and atone for his earlier error.
15'
Wasted opportunity! Gaitain wins Argentina a free-kick in a very threatening position five yards outside the area on the right. Players are queuing up in the centre for the Albiceleste, but Banega's delivery is shockingly flat and lacking pace, as it fails to beat the first defender.
13'
Chile have drastically slowed their approach, willing to take their time in possession and patiently build. It's not working for them at the moment, as their passing is a bit static in midfield, with Argentina buzzing around in pursuit of the ball.
11'
WHAT'S HE THINKING?! Panicked moments at the back for Chile as Mena scoops up the ball, facing his own goal. He doesn't see the pressure behind him and plays an ill-advised pass two yards across for Jara, but Higuain pounces on it. A heavy touch knocks it away from himself though, and Bravo can collect.
9'
NOT FAR AWAY BY ANY MEANS! Gaitan has been incredibly lively in the opening minutes, with a point to prove as he looks to stake his claim to a regular place in the squad. Another probing run sees him skip by a few tackles and pick out Di Maria on the left, but the PSG forward drags his shot just beyond the far post!
7'
STAT: Excluding the result of penalty shootouts, Argentina are unbeaten in 25 Copa America clashes against Chile, winning 19 and drawing six.
5'
There's an excellent tempo to this match in the early going, with both sides so quick to transition into attack when they win the ball. A nifty delivery over the top appears to have Vargas through on goal, but the offside flag halts the attack. Back the other way come Argentina, but Di Maria's cross evades Gaitan at the far post.
3'
EARLY CHANCE FOR ARGENTINA! They win the ball back quickly in the attacking half, and Gaitin, who is in there for the injured Messi, gets on the end of Rojo's cross but rattles it off the bar!
1'
THE MATCH IS UNDERWAY! Argentina, in their sky blue and white stripes, attacking left to right, get the match underway, with Chile in all red.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of this delectable Group D clash, and rematch of the 2015 final, as Argentina and Chile lock horns at Levi’s Stadium in sunny Santa Clara, California!
This is it! This is the one we’ve been waiting for! The first slate of matches comes to a close tonight with arguably the most anticipated game of the group stage, in a rematch of 2015’s breathtaking Copa America final, which saw Chile defeat Argentina in penalties.
The match went scoreless through 120 minutes, setting the stage for spot-kicks. After Ever Banega and Gonzalo Higuain missed their penalties, up stepped Alexis Sanchez...
The Arsenal forward converted the decisive spot-kick, securing Chile their first ever Copa America title, in front of over 45,000 fans in Santiago. It was a night no Chilean will ever forget, but as much as nostalgia is hard to ignore, La Roja will have to be prepared to start the next chapter tonight as they come up against the same Argentina side, hungry for revenge.
The Albiceleste are feeling the pressure even more now. A slow start to qualifying has made matters worse for Gerardo Martino, who after a pair of final defeats (2015 Copa and 2014 World Cup) is back on the touchline in the hopes of guiding Argentina to their first major trophy of the Lionel Messi era.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
ARGENTINA (4-3-3): Romero; Mercado, Otamendi, Funes Mori, Rojo; Augusto, Mascherano, Banega; Gaitan, Di Maria, Higuain.
The big news for Argentina is that Lionel Messi is available tonight, but any impact he has on this match will have to come off the bench as the Barcelona forward is left out of the starting line-up with his fitness still not at 100 per cent following a knock picked up against Honduras. Gonzalo Higuain leads the line, and as a result of the injury to messi, he'll be flanked by Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan and PSG's Angel di Maria.
In midfield, Atletico Madrid's Augusto Fernandez is rewarded for his stellar second half of the season with just his 12th cap, where he joins the vastly experienced Javier Mascherano and Ever Banega. At the back there's no surprises as Nicolas Otamendi and Ramiro Funes Mori form a partnership, with Gabriel Mercado, their leading scorer in World Cup qualifying, and Marcos Rojo the bookends.
Chile have reverted to a more standard 4-3-3 since Juan Antonio Pizzi took over, and tonight is no different. Eugenio Mena and Mauricio Isla are the wing-backs, with Gary Medel and Gonzalo Jara, both earning their 90th caps tonight, at centre-half. They'll be protected by holding-midfielder Marcelo Diaz, who drops in behind Charles Aranguiz, who missed most of the season at Leverkusen with an injury, and the always entertaining Arturo Vidal.
Hoffenheim striker Eduardo Vargas leads the line, with Alexis Sanchez and Jean Beausejour, who has most recently been deployed at right-back but moves into an advanced role tonight, providing the support. Mauricio Pinilla, Mark Gonzalez and Fabian Orellana are all available off the bench, as is young Universidad Catolica striker Nicolas Castillo.
There's a wonderful reception from this packed house at Levi's Stadium as the players make their way onto the pitch. It's a beautiful night and the fans have queued up in numbers for this battle of the first and fifth ranked teams in the world!
They got both national anthems right this time, which is nice to see. In case you missed it, as a result of a "human error," as the tournament staff so delicately put it, the Chilean national anthem was played in place of the Uruguayan one at the Mexico and Uruguay match last night.
Plenty of entertainment but no goals to tell you about after 45 minutes at Levi's Stadium. It was lively from the start, and both teams had their fair share of chances, but there was no beating the two keepers as the deadlock remains in-tact. Argentina came closest through Gaitain, who hit the bar with an early header, while a pair of Alexis strikes produced two fine saves from Romero at the other end.
The question looming large is will we see Lionel Messi in this second half. Argentina could use a spark, and there's no greater difference-maker than the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. That being said, it shouldn't be Gaitan to give way either, as he's been one of the brighter members of attack for Argentina. Perhaps Banega, who has lacked a certain sharpness with his deliveries.
For Chile, Beausejour, despite getting into some prominent areas, has lacked a decisive final ball, something Mark Gonzalez could help change off the bench. The players are making their way out now for the second half, but it doesn't look like any changes are imminent.
That's all for our live coverage from Santa Clara, thanks for following along! Goodbye.
A goal and an assist each for Angel di Maria and Ever Banega see the Albiceleste move into a share of the lead atop Group D and extract revenge for their defeat to La Roja in the 2015 final. A wonderfully entertaining match was anyone's to win after a scoreless first half, but Argentina proved clinical after the break, punishing Chile for their mistakes to claim all three points in the showdown between the two Group D favourites.
