Austria come back once again through Alaba, who sprints forward on a marauding run before threading a pass into the path of Sabitzer. The latter tries his best to latch on to the ball but is unable to do so due to good goalkeeping by Kiraly, who rushes out to deal with the danger.
90' +2
Schopf and Sabitzer link up well deep down the right wing before the latter is clattered into by Kadar, resulting in a free-kick for Austria in a very dangerous position. Alaba steps up and sends a short pass over to Arnautovic on the edge of the Hungary penalty area, but the winger ends up curling a shot straight into the hands of Kiraly.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be five minutes of added time.
89'
Á. Pintér enters the game and replaces K. Németh.
Hungary have made their final alteration of the game, with Nemeth making way for Pinter.
87'
Z. Stieber has scored a goal for Hungary! Assist by T. Priskin.
That was a fantastic pass forward from Priskin, who picked out Stieber with perfection and took full advantage of a poor free-kick from Fuchs.
GOAL! Hungary have doubled their lead and surely wrapped up the win! An Austria free-kick on the left wing is easily dealt with by the Hungary defence, allowing them to break away on a quick counter-attack through the middle. Priskin charges forward and heads towards the halfway line before sending an excellent through-ball into the path of Stieber, who sprints into the Austria penalty area before lifting a brilliant chipped shot over the head of Almer and into the back of the net. What a performance from Bernd Storck's men!
86'
There's a brief break in play as Fiola receives medical attention after being clattered into by Fuchs. It looks as if he twisted his ankle nastily after tangling with the Austria captain, and it seems as if his game may be over.
84'
Fuchs steps up and sends an out-swinging cross into the heart of the Hungary penalty area, but, not for the first time today, Kiraly is there to jump high nnd cut out the danger at the vital moment.
83'
It's all Austria at the moment as they continue to try and find a way through the sea of white shirts camped diligently in front of them. Schopf and Klein battle their way down the right wing before Alaba cuts into the penalty area and fires a volley towards goal, but it bounces off the leg of Gera and flies out for a corner.
81'
Nemeth charges into Schopf and catches the substitute in the middle of the pitch, resulting in him becoming the first Hungary player to receive a yellow card.
80'
K. Németh gets yellow.
Hungary have made a late substitution, with Stieber coming on to replace Kleinheisler for the final 10 minutes of the game.
Minute
Description
79'
Z. Stieber enters the game and replaces L. Kleinheisler.
Austria pile into the Hungary half of the pitch as they try to carve out a chance on goal, with Fuchs playing an important role in the move. He works his way towards the penalty area and plays a quick one-two with Alaba before trying to chip a pass towards goal, but Kiraly does well to dart out and deal with the danger before it can find a red shirt.
78'
A. Schöpf enters the game and replaces M. Harnik.
Austria have made their final alteration of the evening, with Harnik making way for Schopf.
77'
It's proving to be far too easy for Hungary, who are finding plenty of space inside the Austria half of the pitch. This time it's Nemeth who jogs forward under little pressure before trying to tee up Priskin inside the penalty area, but the pass is horribly executed and can only find Fuchs on the edge of the box.
75'
A 25-yard shot from Kleinheisler deflects off Hinteregger and flies out of play for a corner that quickly results in another for Hungary. The second is taken short before Dzsudzsak whips a looping cross into the middle of the Austria box, but it's sent too near to Almer and the goalkeeper is easily able to cut out the danger.
74'
Great opportunity for Sabitzer! Fuchs is starting to push incredibly far forward as Austria desperately try to find an equaliser. The Leicester City full-back sprints down the left wing before sending an excellent low cross into the heart of the penalty area, where it finds Sabitzer, but the forward's thumping effort fails to find the target, despite his best efforts.
72'
And now Nemeth goes close! The winger is left in far too much space down the left flank, allowing him to jog forward before cutting inside and firing a hefty strike that Almer is just about able to tip round the far post and out for a corner that fails to result in a chance on goal for Hungary.
71'
Chance for Nagy! Austria are committing plenty of bodies forward, but it's leaving them incredibly exposed at the back. Hungary take advantage of this by breaking forward on a quick counter-attack down the right wing before Nagy tries to beat Almer from 30 yards out, but the midfielder's audacious effort fails to trouble the goalkeeper and ends up clearing the top of the crossbar by several yards.
69'
T. Priskin enters the game and replaces Á. Szalai.
Hungary have decided to make their first substitution of the evening, with Priskin coming on to replace the goal scorer Szalai.
68'
Austria keep coming back as they desperately try to find a way back into the game. Sabitzer breaks down the right-hand side of the Hungary penalty area before whipping a cross into the middle of the box, but it bounces off the thigh of Kadar before looping into the hands of Kiraly. A few Austria players half-heartedly appeal for a penalty for handball, but the referee is having none of it.
66'
A. Dragović gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
RED CARD! It's gone from bad to worse for Austria! The ball bounces around the Hungary penalty area before falling to Hinteregger, who unleashes a thumping strike that beats Kiraly before finding the back of the net. However, it's immediately ruled out by the referee, who quickly turns to Dragovic and shows the centre-back a second yellow card for a reckless sliding challenge on Kadar in the build-up.
65'
R. Okotie enters the game and replaces M. Janko.
64'
Austria have made a substitution, and it's an attacking one, with Okotie coming on to replace Janko.
62'
Á. Szalai has scored a goal for Hungary! Assist by L. Kleinheisler.
GOAL! Hungary have taken the lead! Kleinheisler and Szalai link up wonderfully well on the edge of the Austria penalty area as they play a quick one-two. The striker then spins and beats both of the centre-backs with ease before charging towards Almer, and the goalkeeper is unable to close down the number nine before he pokes a deft shot underneath his body and into the back of the net. What a moment for the Hannover forward!
That was lovely play by Kleinheisler, who has certainly been one of Hungary's best players thus far and has thoroughly enjoyed himself with the ball at his feet deep inside the Austria half of the pitch.
61'
Almost an opportunity for Szalai! A mistake in the middle of the pitch allows the ball to bounce straight to the Hungary striker, who then tries to muscle his way through the two centre-backs camped just in front of him. He doesn't look at all comfortable on the ball, however, and ends up losing possession at the vital moment with a heavy touch when battling with Dragovic.
60'
M. Sabitzer enters the game and replaces Z. Junuzović.
Junuzovic will play no further part in the game, and he has made way for Red Bull Leipzig's Sabitzer for the final half an hour.
58'
It doesn't look good for Junuzovic, who, after Austria were initially concerned with a possible injury to Janko, has dropped to the ground and looks to be struggling with the ankle that he injured during the first half. It looks as if his race is run, and he gingerly makes his way off the pitch to receive further treatment.
56'
Great save by Almer! After clearing the danger, Hungary push forward on a quick counter-attack as they move the ball around really well inside the Austria half of the pitch. The ball eventually finds its way to Dzsudzsak, who is in a pocket of space 25 yards away from goal, and he takes a quick touch before unleashing a rocket of a shot that the Austria Vienna goalkeeper is just about able to tip over the crossbar with an acrobatic diving save.
54'
It's all Austria at the moment as they continue to put Hungary under plenty of pressure. Arnautovic drifts into the centre of the pitch and weaves his way past several white shirts before teeing up Klein, who then fires a low cross into the middle of the penalty area, where it finds Alaba. He tries to send a side-footed shot towards goal but can only knock it on to Gera, who then boots the ball away from danger.
52'
After having to deal with a period of pressure from Austria, Hungary are finally able to push forward on a quick attack down the right wing. Fiola gets forward well before picking out Gera, but the midfielder's audacious shot from 30 yards out fails to trouble Almer and flies well wide of the goal.
50'
Fuchs and Arnautovic link up well deep down the left flank as Austria push forward once again. The Stoke City winger heads towards the byline before sending a low cross into the middle of the box, where it's completely missed by Guzmics. However, luckily for the centre-back Kadar is there to cut out the danger at the far post before the ball can find a red shirt in front of goal.
49'
Baumgartlinger darts through the middle of the pitch before finding Junuzovic out on the left wing, and the attacking midfielder quickly pokes a pass into the path of Alaba. The Bayern Munich man darts into the Hungary penalty area before firing a cross towards Janko, but it's sent slightly behind the striker and he's unable to send his shot towards goal.
47'
Hungary immediately embark on an impressive attacking move down the left flank, with Nemeth twisting and turning as he weaves between several red shirts. He then sprays a good pass over to Fiola, who takes a quick touch before unleashing a low strike from 25 yards out, but it's sent too near to Almer and is easily stopped by the Austria goalkeeper.
46'
And we're underway once again!
45' +1
Dragovic breaks into the Hungary half of the pitch and quickly finds Klein, who is left in far too much space by Kadar over on the right wing. The Austria full-back takes a quick touch before swinging a dangerous cross towards Arnautovic, but there's far too much power behind the pass and it misses the winger before bouncing out of play for a throw-in.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
43'
And now Dzsudzsak goes close! Kleinheisler beats Baumgartlinger far too easily in the middle of the pitch and charges forward before sending a lovely through-ball into the path of the number seven. He beats his marker with ease and takes a heavy touch before shooting, but it's with his weaker right foot and ends up missing its intended target by several yards.
41'
What a chance for Harnik! Arnautovic sends a beautiful back-heeled flick into the feet of Junuzovic, who quickly sends the pass back into the path of the Stoke City winger down the left flank. He easily beats Fiola and sprints towards the edge of the Hungary penalty area before sending a low pass across the face of goal, but Harnik completely mishits his sliding shot and sends up rolling harmlessly out of play for a goal-kick. That was a golden opportunity for the winger to open the scoring!
39'
Hungary take the goal-kick quickly and immediately break away on a rapid counter-attack down the right wing. They move the ball around wonderfully well before Fiola tries to swing a cross on to the head of Szalai, but it's sent slightly too high for the striker and can only find the hands of Almer.
38'
A long throw-in from Harnik finds Janko, who quickly taps the ball on to Lang. It deflects off the thigh of the centre-back and bounces over to Arnautovic, who is in a dangerous position in front of goal, but he's unable to control the ball quickly enough and it ends up rolling past the near post and out for a goal-kick.
37'
Junuzovic sends the resulting corner hard and low towards the near post, where Hinteregger does well to run on to it, but the centre-back is unable to wrap his foot around the ball and ends up firing his first-time shot comfortably wide of the goal.
36'
Excellent save by Kiraly! Dragovic sends a brilliant lofted pass up towards the edge of the Hungary penalty area, where it finds Janko. The big striker rises high and beats his marker before nodding the ball down to Junuzovic, who then fires a thumping shot towards the bottom right-hand corner of the goal, but the veteran goalkeeper is there to tip the strike out for a corner with a lovely diving stop.
34'
Free header for Szalai! Dzsudzsak curls the resulting free-kick into the heart of the penalty area, where it finds the striker completely unmarked in front of goal, but he mistimes his jump slightly and ends up sending his close-range header flying comfortably wide of its intended target.
33'
A. Dragović gets yellow.
Szalai charges after a loose ball down the left wing and does well to beat Dragovic before trying to cut towards the penalty area, but the Austria centre-back ends up sticking out a foot to trip the striker to the ground and earns himself the first yellow card of the game as a result.
31'
Tackles are flying in all over the place! First, Alaba is bundled over by Nemeth before Hungary break away on a quick counter, but Austria swiftly win the ball back before pushing forward through Junuzovic, who charges towards the penalty area before being fouled by Guzmics, resulting in a free-kick in a dangerous position. Alaba steps up and unleashes a rocket of a shot from the set-piece, but it fails to beat the wall of white shirts camped in front of him.
29'
Dragovic wins back the ball from Szalai just inside the Austria half of the pitch and immediately tries to set up Harnik with a lofted pass down the right flank, but it's completely overhit by the centre-back and ends up missing the winger before bouncing out of play for a goal-kick.
27'
Junuzovic goes down inside the penalty area, but nothing is given! Fuchs cuts inside from the left wing and whips a dangerous cross into the heart of the Hungary penalty area that skims off the head of Arnautovic before hitting the knee of Lang. It then bounces over towards Junuzovic at the near post, but the attacking midfielder goes down whilst tangling with Fiola before he can make contact with the ball. A few Austria players turn to the referee in a hopeful manner, but the man in charge shakes his head and waves play on.
25'
Austria have spent the past 10 minutes largely camped inside their own half of the pitch, but they're finally able to push forward thanks to good play by Alaba. The Hungary defence deal well with the danger, however, before Kleinheisler tries to break away on a counter-attack, but his pass towards Szalai is underhit and ends up being easily cut out by Dragovic, who then sends the ball back to Almer.
23'
Hungary patiently work their way down the right wing before Gera latches on to a loose ball in a pocket of space just five or so yards outside of the Austria penalty area. He takes a quick look before firing a rocket of a shot towards Almer, but it's sent too near to the goalkeeper and he's easily able to stop the midfielder's effort.
21'
Despite Austria having the best chance on goal thus far, Hungary are looking far more attack-minded than they did during qualifying. They're zipping the ball around nicely inside the oppositions' half of the pitch and look prepared to commit bodies forward, with Kleinheisler and Gera playing particularly well in the middle.
19'
A half-hearted Hungary attack breaks down, allowing Austria to pick up possession before trying to kick-start a rapid counter-attack through Junuzovic. The number 10 sprints towards the halfway line before trying to set up Janko with a 30-yard pass through the middle of the Hungary defence, but it's well read by Lang and the centre-back does well to cut out the danger.
17'
Austria are temporarily down to 10 men after Junuzovic and Gera tangle in the middle of the pitch, leaving the former on the floor and in serious discomfort. However, after receiving medical treatment for a few moments the attacking midfielder is able to come back on to the pitch, and it looks as if he'll be okay to continue.
16'
It's been a good five minutes for Hungary, who are enjoying themselves whenever they're able to win back possession from Austria. Lovely one-touch football from them results in Szalai being able to unleash a thumping low shot from just outside of the penalty area, but once again Dragovic is there to throw his body in the way of the effort at the vital moment.
14'
Hungary patiently battle their way down the right flank and earn themselves a throw-in deep inside the Austria half of the pitch, which is sent to Kleinheisler but fails to result in a chance on goal. They quickly win the ball back, however, and work it over to Kadar, but the left-back's swinging cross is easily cut out by Dragovic in the middle of the box.
12'
Slightly sloppy play from the Hungary defence deep inside their own half of the pitch temporarily causes problems for them, but a heavy touch and reckless sliding challenge from Junuzovic on Kadar results in a free-kick for Bernd Storck's men and brings the danger to an end.
10'
Lovely play by Austria! Arnautovic nonchalantly jogs down the left flank before cutting inside and sending an excellent pass into the Hungarian box. It easily beats Nagy before finding the feet of Alaba, but the Bayern Munich man's first-time shot ends up rolling straight into Kiraly's hands in the middle of the goal.
8'
Hungary continue to push forward and put Austria under plenty of early pressure. Once again, Gera plays an important role in the move in the middle of the pitch before spraying a pass out to Kadar on the left. The full-back is left in a pocket of space and quickly tries to tee up Kleinheisler with a through-ball into the penalty area, but it's overhit and fails to find the midfielder before being dealt with by Almer.
6'
Hungary initially embark on a good move down the left wing, but Kadar ends up giving away possession just inside the Austria half of the pitch. Their opponents then attempt to kick-start a counter-attack through Junuzovic, but the number 10 is quickly closed down by white shirts and is forced into spinning and playing the ball back to Baumgartlinger.
4'
After spending the first few minutes on the back foot, Hungary are finally able to break out of their own half of the pitch and embark on their first attacking move of the game. Gera and Dzsudzsak link up well over on the left before Kleinheisler tries to test Almer from 25 yards out, but his bouncing strike is easily saved by the Austria goalkeeper.
3'
Arnautovic has already tried to take the Hungary back line by surprise by darting towards lofted passes from Alaba, but so far each of the balls forward have been slightly overhit and easily dealt with by Kiraly inside his penalty area.
2'
Alaba hits the post! Austria immediately embark on a brilliant start to the game as they quickly put Hungary under an incredible amount of pressure. The Bayern Munich man finds himself in a pocket of space 30 yards away from goal and unleashes an almighty strike that leaves Kiraly with no choice, but it ends up ricocheting off the woodwork after beating the outstretched limbs of the veteran goalkeeper.
1'
And we're off! Austria get us underway, attacking from left to right.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Euro 2016 group stage game between Austria and Hungary at the Stade Matmut Atlantique.
What is being dubbed the Habsburg derby brings together two neighbours that haven’t faced each other at the finals of a major tournament for 82 years. That meeting saw Austria beat Hungary 2-1 to reach the semi-finals of the 1934 World Cup, and since then games have been evenly matched and exciting encounters, with the Magyars winning the most recent contest between the two sides back in August 2006.
A lot has changed since then, however, and Austria are one of the dark horses that many are tipping for success here in France. An excellent qualifying campaign resulted in them finishing eight points clear of nearest challengers Russia at the top of their group, and they were one of only four teams to avoid losing any of their 10 games, nine of which ended in victories. This is the first time that Austria have qualified for a European Championship finals after co-hosting the event in 2008, and they will be full of confidence about their chances of reaching the knockout stage for the first time in their history.
As for Hungary, a 3-1 win on aggregate against Norway in a play-off encounter confirmed their place in their first European Championship since 1972, but the qualifying campaign certainly was a struggle. Difficulties in front of goal resulted in them scoring just 11 times in 10 games (three of which came in a thrilling encounter with Greece), and their plus two goal difference is the worst of the teams to have made it to Euro 2016. However, Bernd Storck’s hard-working side proved difficult to break down defensively, resulting in them conceding just nine goals, and they will be looking to build from the back as they aim to snatch a knockout-round spot in what could prove to be a tough group.
No matter what happens, today will always be one to remember for Gabor Kiraly, who is set to become the oldest player to ever feature at the finals of a European Championship, breaking the record set by Lothar Matthaus at Euro 2000. The veteran goalkeeper turned 40 at the start of April and this afternoon will make his 104th appearance for Hungary, 18 years after he made his international debut against - you guessed it - Austria.
Austria XI (4-2-3-1): Almer; Klein, Dragovic, Hinteregger, Fuchs; Baumgartliner, Alaba; Harnik, Junozovic, Arnautovic; Janko.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Marcel Koller has decided to make just two changes to the Austria side that lost 2-0 against the Netherlands in their final warm-up game, with Martin Hinteregger and Martin Harnik coming into the starting line-up to replace Sebastian Prodl and Marcel Sabitzer, respectively.
Meanwhile, Hungary boss Bernd Storck has also made two alterations to the side that were beaten by Germany in a friendly game 10 days ago, with Adam Pinter and Gergo Lovrencsics making way for Zoltan Gera and Krisztian Nemeth.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: AUSTRIA 0-0 HUNGARY
Alaba went close to opening the scoring for Austria when he hit the post just seconds into the game, but since then it's arguably been Hungary who have been the better of the two sides. Bernd Storck's men haven't looked at all overawed by the occasion and have played some lovely football inside their opponents' half of the pitch, with Kleinheisler and Gera operating particularly well in the middle of the park.
At the other end, Arnautovic and Harnik linked up well and produced a great chance that the latter failed to put away, but either side of that the two wingers have found it hard to make much of an impact. That has also been the case for Janko, who has looked good in the air but has found his chances few and far between due to good defending by Hungary's hard-working centre-backs.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: AUSTRIA 0-2 HUNGARY
The referee blows his whistle for the final time, and Hungary have picked up a truly historic victory! It's a fully deserved one as well, as they were certainly the better team from start to finish and did well to keep an Austria front line full of talent incredibly quiet with strong and well-organised defending. In the middle of the pitch, Kleinheisler looked excellent with the ball at his feet, whilst Fiola and Kadar made life incredibly difficult for the opponents' wingers, who found little joy as a result.
As for Austria, they just couldn't find any joy inside Hungary's half of the pitch, as a lack of intensity and belief resulted in them having very few chances on goal. They must now face Portugal on Saturday knowing that a defeat there could spell the end of their hopes of making it to the knockout stage. Hungary, meanwhile, will play against Iceland in a game that could see them booking their place in the last 16.
