Chelsea continue to dominate possession as the clock winds down. Despite desperately needing a goal, Watford are being forced into sitting deep inside their own half of the pitch, and at this stage of the game it doesn't look as if they have enough left in the tank to find a late equaliser.
90' +4
V. Behrami gets yellow.
Batshuayi hits the crossbar! The youngster has been excellent after coming on and muscles his way into the Watford penalty area before unleashing a curling shot from 10 yards out, but it ends up smashing the woodwork after beating the outstretched hand of Gomes.
Yellow card Valon Behrami
90' +2
E. Hazard gets yellow.
Hazard gives away a cheap free-kick over on the left wing and then kicks the ball away in frustration, resulting in him earning a late yellow card.
90'
C. Zúñiga enters the game and replaces J. Holebas.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be five minutes of added time. Can Watford pull off a comeback to salvage a point?
Watford have made their last substitution of the game, with Holebas making way for Zuniga.
89'
Chelsea find themselves in an advanced position once again and the ball eventually bounces over to Kante. The Frenchman is in a good position 25 yards out and decides to try and beat Gomes with a long-range effort, but he fails to trouble the Brazilian and instead sends his effort flying over the top of the crossbar.
88'
M. Vydra enters the game and replaces A. Guédioura.
Watford have made a late change, with Guedioura coming on to replace Vydra in an attacking alteration for the Hornets.
87'
Diego Costa has scored a goal for Chelsea! Assist by Cesc Fàbregas.
That was a wonderful pass from Fabregas, who has been excellent since coming on to the pitch. Questions have to be asked of the Watford back line, however, as they were all at sea and failed to deal with Costa's run forward.
GOAL! What a comeback by Chelsea! Fabregas breaks forward and slots a beautiful pass through the disjointed Watford defence and into the path of Costa. The striker meets the ball just outside of the penalty area and darts past Cathcart before poking a lovely shot through the feet of Gomes and into the back of the net.
86'
It's still all Chelsea as they keep pushing forward in search of what would surely be the winning goal. Can they do what they did against West Ham and win the game in the final minutes of the game? They certainly look up for the challenge.
84'
A. Doucouré enters the game and replaces É. Capoue.
Capoue's day looks to be over after receiving a whack from Costa, and he limps off the pitch to be replaced by Doucoure for the last six minutes of the game.
82'
It's all happening on the edge of the Watford penalty area, where Costa goes down under a challenge from Capoue before the ball gets stuck under his body. The striker then tries to force the ball out with his feet and is slightly heavy-handed with his effort, which results in an angry response from the hosts.

Description
80'
M. Batshuayi has scored a goal for Chelsea!
GOAL! Chelsea have equalised! A poor throw from Amrabat gifts possession to Chelsea, who immediately work the ball over to Hazard. The Belgian is in acres of space and immediately unleashes a thumping low shot from 25 yards out that Gomes spills into the path of Batshuayi, who is easily able to tap the ball into the back of the net from close range.
79'
Batshuayi goes down inside the Watford box, but nothing is given! A looping cross is flung into the middle of the penalty area and almost finds the young striker, but he goes down the ground before he's able make contact with the ball. The referee ignores his pleas for a penalty, however, and allows play to go on.
78'
Cesc Fàbregas enters the game and replaces N. Matić.
Chelsea have made their final substitution, and it's another attack-minded one, with Fabregas replacing Matic in the middle of the pitch.
77'
It's all Chelsea at the moment as they desperately try to find a way back into the game, but it just isn't working for them at the moment. They're playing what is basically an orthodox 4-4-2 with Batshuayi and Costa up front, but Watford are sitting deep and doing well to soak up the pressure being put on them by Antonio Conte's side.
75'
Capoue charges in to Hazard and catches the Belgian on the top of the foot. It initially looks as if the attacking midfielder is in considerable pain and could be forced into coming off, but after a few moments on the ground he's able to continue once again.
73'
M. Batshuayi enters the game and replaces Oscar.
Chelsea have made their second alteration, and it's an attacking one, with Oscar making way for Batshuayi.
71'
V. Moses enters the game and replaces Pedro.
Chelsea have made their first change of the game, with Moses coming on to replace Pedro.
70'
J. Holebas gets yellow.
Holebas becomes the latest player to pick up a yellow card.
After spending what feels like an age eyeing up his target, Oscar steps up and fires a strike towards goal, but it's poorly hit and deflects off the wall. It bounces back to the Brazilian, however, and he then launches a deep cross into the box, but Britos is there to deal with the danger.
69'
M. Britos gets yellow.
Hazard darts towards the edge of the Watford box on a great run before being clumsily fouled by Britos, who brings the Belgian down from behind and gives away a free-kick in an incredibly dangerous position before earning himself a yellow card.
68'
Ivanovic weaves his way into the right-hand side of the penalty area and rounds Gomes before trying to cut the ball back to Costa, but Behrami is there and just about manages to slice the ball over the crossbar and out for a corner. The set-piece is thumped into the middle of the box and the Chelsea players immediately scream for a penalty after spotting a handball, but the referee doesn't agree and waves play on.
67'
Costa goes down on the edge of the Watford penalty area, but nothing is given! The Spaniard's attempted pass over to the right wing fails to find a white shirt but rolls back to him, and he immediately tries to penetrate the box. He goes down under a tackle from Britos and immediately screams for a free-kick, but the replays show that the striker went down far too easily.
65'
No, they can't. Holebas steps up and attempts to curl a thumping strike into the top corner of the net, but it's poorly hit by the Greek wing-back and fails to beat the wall camped in front of him.
64'
Kante and Capoue battle for the ball just outside of the Chelsea penalty area, and it's the goalscorer who comes out on top after being clumsily bundled over by his fellow Frenchman, resulting in a free-kick for the hosts in an incredibly dangerous position. Can they make it count?
62'
Costa picks up the ball just outside of the Watford penalty area and immediately tries to break towards the near post. It initially looks as if he's skipped past Cathcart but his final touch is heavy and sends the ball rolling into the hands of Gomes just as he's out-muscled by the Northern Irish defender.
60'
A Watford attacking move breaks down and Chelsea immediately try to counter. Hazard does well to get down the right wing before spinning and working the ball over to Matic, but the Serbian's 25-yard strike is poorly hit and ends up bouncing comfortably wide of its intended target and out for a goal-kick.
58'
Chelsea immediately push forward from the restart as they desperately try to find a way back into the game. Hazard, who has easily been their best player of the game thus far, drifts out to the right and picks up the ball before firing a low cross into the penalty area, but it's sent too near to Gomes and is easily stopped by the Brazilian.
56'
Diego Costa gets yellow.
In the aftermath of the Watford goal, Costa receives a yellow card for dissent after arguing with the referee.
55'
É. Capoue has scored a goal for Watford! Assist by A. Guédioura.
GOAL! Watford have taken the lead! Guedioura receives the ball over on the right wing and quickly curls a wonderful cross into the Chelsea penalty area. Deeney does well to out-muscle Ivanovic and help guide the ball over to Capoue, who immediately fires a rocket of a volley past Courtois and into the back of the net for his second goal in as many games.
That was a lovely cross from Guedioura, but questions have to be asked of the Chelsea defence. Capoue was left all alone on the edge of the penalty area and wasn't closed down at all quick enough after receiving the ball, which gave him all the time in the world to fire in his spectacular shot.
54'
Chelsea clumsily lose possession on the halfway line and Watford immediately break away on a quick counter-attack through the middle of the pitch. Amrabat charges forward on a great run before trying to tee up Ighalo, but the wing-back's pass is poor and Cahill is just about able to cut out the danger on the edge of the box.
52'
Chance for Hazard! Oscar breaks down the right flank and does well to sprint into the pocket of space available just in front of him. He fizzes a great pass across the face of goal that narrowly misses Costa before bouncing over to Hazard at the far post, but the Belgian is also unable to make contact with the ball, despite his best efforts.
50'
Costa is bundled over by Britos in the middle of the pitch, resulting in Chelsea being awarded a free-kick after the advantage failed to result in anything for the visitors. It's taken short and worked quickly over to the right wing, but Watford immediately press high up the pitch and force Chelsea into working the ball all the way back to Courtois.
48'
Chelsea embark on a patient start to the second half as they try to find their first goal of the game, but, as was the case before the break, they're lacking the intensity needed to beat a well-organised Watford back line. Costa is presented with two opportunities to push forward but both times ends up giving away a free-kick after being too heavy-handed with his markers.
46'
And we're underway once again!
45' +1
Amrabat clumsily trips Hazard to the ground as the Belgian darts down the left wing, and Chelsea are awarded a free-kick in a great position as a result. After spending plenty of time eyeing up the target, Hazard steps up and fires a low shot towards goal, but it isn't hit anywhere near enough and is easily stopped by Gomes at the near post.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
44'
Nervy play by Watford! A cross-field lofted pass finds Matic on the edge of the Watford penalty area, and he immediately taps the ball into the path of Costa. The striker is beaten to it by Gomes before the goalkeeper ends up spilling the ball back towards the Spaniard, but the Brazilian is just about able to collect it once again after Guedioura failed to clear the danger properly.
43'
Chelsea patiently pass the ball around deep inside their own half of the pitch, but they're slightly lax in doing so and almost cause real problems for themselves. Oscar holds on to possession for far too long and is eventually dispossessed by Deeney, but, luckily for the Brazilian, the referee says it's a foul and awards a free-kick to the visitors, much to their relief.
41'
After an even start to the game, it's now Chelsea that are ending the first half on the front foot and the better of the two teams. Watford have progressively started sitting deeper inside their own half of the pitch and are inviting the visitors forward, and it's something that the Blues seem very happy to do. So far, however, they have failed to make their dominance of possession count, primarily due to good defending from the Hornets.
39'
Terry and Ighalo both jump high and go for the ball on the halfway line, but it's the Nigerian who comes off worse and gives away a free-kick to the visitors. It's sent short and worked over to Pedro, who then picks out Costa with a cross from the right wing, but the striker is slightly offside and the linesman's flag is waved just as the Spaniard's shot bounces wide of the far post.
37'
A Watford attacking move comes to an end, and Chelsea immediately break forward on a swift counter. The visitors work the ball forward nicely before Hazard tries to spin round Britos over on the right wing, but the Belgian is clattered into by a hefty challenge from the defender. It initially looks as if the Uruguayan is going to be booked, but the referee decides against it and just gives him a stern talking to instead.
35'
The ball pinballs around the Watford penalty area, but each time Watford are just about able to deal with the danger. First it's a low cross from Ivanovic that causes the hosts problems, before a smart pass from Oscar almost finds Hazard but is cut out at the vital moment.
34'
A poor attempted tackle by Capoue results in a free-kick for Chelsea, and it's one that almost causes problems for Watford once again. This time it's Oscar who curls a cross deep into the hosts' box, but Gomes does well to rush out and punch the ball away from danger before it can find a white shirt in front of goal.
32'
Chance for Watford! Holebas flies down the left flank on an excellent run that takes Ivanovic completely out of the game before curling a spectacular cross into the heart of the penalty area. It's just about dealt with by Terry, whose headed clearance can only find Guedioura, but the Algerian's thumping, 25-yard volley ends up sailing comfortably over the top of the crossbar.
30'
Deeney is fouled in the middle of the pitch, and Watford are awarded a free-kick in a good position as a result. Holebas steps up and tries to pick out Prodl with a chipped cross deep into the Chelsea penalty area, but the visitors do well to deal with the danger.
29'
Another Chelsea corner causes problems for the Watford defence, but once again the visitors are unable to take full advantage of the chance. Another impressive cross from Hazard picks out Ivanovic, who is left completely unmarked by the Hornets, but the Serbian's unable to make decent contact with the ball and ends up sending it away from goal.
27'
Amrabat has another good chance to break down the right wing, but this time he takes far too long on the ball and has to settle for a throw-in. It's worked back to the Moroccan, who then picks out Ighalo with a deep cross, but the Nigerian's chipped pass towards the edge of the six-yard box is easily dealt with by Courtois before it can find Deeney.
26'
Prodl charges into Costa and clumsily brings the striker crashing to the ground, resulting in a free-kick for Chelsea in a dangerous position over on the left wing. Hazard steps up and curls a great cross into the middle of the box, where it finds Ivanovic, but the ball strikes the defender's shoulder before bouncing into the hands of Gomes.
24'
What a chance for Ighalo! A Chelsea attacking move breaks down just outside of the Watford penalty area and the hosts immediately break away on an excellent counter-attack down the right flank. Amrabat flies forward on a marauding run before firing a low cross towards the near post, but, under pressure, Ighalo's close-range effort ends up flying over the top of the crossbar.
22'
Behrami does well to pick Oscar's pocket in the middle of the pitch and Watford quickly try to work their way into the Chelsea penalty area. They're unable to do so, however, as a poor pass from Deeney fails to find Capoue and is cut out by Matic.
20'
G. Cahill gets yellow.
Meanwhile, Cahill is also showed a yellow card for a foul in the build-up to Watford's last chance on goal.
19'
T. Deeney gets yellow.
A determined Watford attacking move breaks down, allowing Chelsea to break away on a swift counter-attack. Hazard breaks through the middle of the pitch and beats one player before taking on Deeney, but he's taken down by a clumsy sliding challenge from the striker, resulting in the referee bringing out his yellow card for the first time.
18'
Lovely run by Azpilicueta! The Spaniard has looked bright thus far, and he's caused Amrabat several problems with his pace and skill down the left wing. This time he easily rounds the Moroccan and heads along the byline before trying to cut a pass back to a teammate, but it fails to find a white shirt and is easily cut out by the hosts on the edge of the penalty area.
17'
Chelsea work the ball from one flank to the other before Pedro cuts inside from the right and tees up Oscar. The Brazilian is in a good position just outside of the penalty area and decides to unleash a low shot, but it's poorly hit and ends up rolling comfortably wide of the far post.
15'
Chelsea patiently move the ball around in the middle of the pitch as they try to push forward, but Amrabat does really well defensively and scraps for the ball on the halfway line before winning a free-kick for his side. It's been a good start to the game from Watford, who look well-drilled and comfortable in this 3-5-2 formation.
13'
Vital interception by Holebas! Amrabat fails to track back over on the left, allowing Azpilicueta to fly forward on a great run. A low cross is thumped into the middle of the penalty area and almost finds Costa on the edge of the six-yard box, but Holebas is just about able to fire the ball over the top of the crossbar and out for a corner before accidentally clashing with Britos, who momentarily looks to be hurt before getting back to his feet once again.
11'
Guedioura picks up the ball near to the halfway line and immediately chips an excellent pass into the path of Amrabat, who has plenty of space to run into deep down the right flank. The wing-back gets forward well before trying to fire a low cross into the box, but it's poorly hit by the Moroccan and fails to beat Terry on the edge of the penalty area.
9'
Hazard twists and turns in the middle of the pitch before being tripped over by Behrami, resulting in a free-kick for Chelsea midway inside the Watford half. It's sent short and worked over to Oscar, who then sends a great pass into the path of Costa, but the striker is quickly out-muscled by Prodl and can't get a shot away before eventually being dispossessed near to the byline.
8'
Early chance for Holebas! Britos pushes up to the halfway line before sending a beautiful lofted pass over the head of Pedro and into the path of Holebas. The Greek wing-back beats the Spanish winger with ease before cutting into the penalty area and unleashing a low shot, but it's saved at the near post by the outstretched foot of Courtois.
7'
Matic bursts forward before finding Costa, who then muscles his way into the left-hand side of the Watford penalty area and does well to earn his side a corner. Hazard steps up and curls it towards the near post, but Prodl is there to comfortably head the ball away from danger with a strong clearance.
5'
Chelsea move the ball around patiently deep inside the Watford half of the pitch as they try to find a way past the sea of yellow shirts camped in front of them. Ivanovic is finally able to whip a low cross into the penalty area after linking up well with Hazard, but the Serbian's pass is poor and fails to find a teammate in front of goal.
3'
A lofted pass forward from Britos temporarily causes problems for the Chelsea defenders, but Cahill is just about able to thump the ball out for a throw-in over on the left wing. Holebas flings it into the penalty area in search of Deeney, but Cahill is there once again and does well to beat the striker to the ball at the near post.

And we're off! Watford get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Watford and Chelsea at Vicarage Road.
Another season, another new boss for Watford, who now find themselves under the watchful eye of fiery Italian Walter Mazzarri following the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores. The Spaniard guided the Hornets to an excellent start to last season, lifting them up to seventh place in the table by Christmas. It all fell apart after then, however, and just four wins from their final 24 games resulted in the campaign ending on a sour note.
However, this season has started in a more positive fashion, with the experienced Mazzarri guiding his new side to a respectable 1-1 draw away to Southampton in a game that saw Ben Watson earn the first red card of the campaign midway through the second half. The well-organised 3-5-2 formation used by the Italian seems to be working thus far, and he will be hoping that the recent addition of Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra can help propel his side to the heights they achieved at the start of last season.
Like Watford, it’s a new beginning for Chelsea too, as they are now led by their own fiery Italian in the form of Antonio Conte. The former Italy boss went one better than his old rival and guided his side to a 2-1 win at home to West Ham United in their opening game of the season, although the Blues were saved by a Diego Costa winner with just one minute left on the clock. Nonetheless, they look to be continuing the good form that characterised their pre-season performances, giving them a great chance of picking up another victory here today.
It’s now almost 17 years since Watford last beat Chelsea, although Vicarage Road has proven to be a tough ground for the Blues in recent years. Last season’s meeting between the two sides ended in a goalless draw, whilst their last Premier League win in Hertfordshire came back in 2007 thanks to a last-minute Salomon Kalou goal. However, Chelsea have the upper hand overall thanks to three consecutive and comfortable wins in the FA Cup between 2009 and 2015.
Chelsea substitutes: Begovic, Aina, Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek, Fabregas, Moses, Batshuayi.
Chelsea XI (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Matic, Kante; Pedro, Oscar, Hazard; Costa.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made just one alteration to the side that beat West Ham in their opening game of the new season, with Pedro coming into the starting line-up to replace Willian, who is out with a calf injury.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Walter Mazzarri has decided to name an unchanged Watford side to the one that started the 1-1 draw away to Southampton last weekend, with Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney once again leading the line in a well-organised 3-5-2 system.
HALF-TIME: WATFORD 0-0 CHELSEA
It's been an even opening 45 minutes, with both sides seeing plenty of the ball in front of goal. However, quality opportunites have been lacking, and Chelsea will certainly be the more disappointed of the two teams at this stage. Watford have looked largely solid at the back and haven't made life easy for the Blues, who, bar a couple of half chances, haven't troubled Gomes. Hazard has been the most dangerous of their attacking players, but too often the Belgian is being left to do everything by himself.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: WATFORD 1-2 CHELSEA
For the second week in a row, Chelsea have come back late on to win with a last-minute Costa goal! They struggled for the vast majority of the afternoon and were made to work incredibly hard by Watford, but the Hornets lost their concentration at the last minute and, as a result of poor defending and even worse goalkeeping from Gomes, have to leave without even a single point.
