The passing from the home side has been not at its clinical best since the restart. We're underway at the Etihad Stadium.
We're here at last after the game was postponed last night due to adverse weather conditions in Manchester. Conditions are perfect for football this evening, so we should have no problems getting underway.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League clash between Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach at the Etihad Stadium.
City have enjoyed a perfect start to life under Pep Guardiola, winning all six of their competitive matches under the Spaniard. No result was more important than City's 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Manchester United last weekend at Old Trafford, making a huge statement in the Premier League title race.
Guardiola will now turn his attention to pushing City on in the Champions League as the club fell narrowly short of reaching their first major European final last season under Manuel Pellegrini. The Spaniard was frustrated in his attempts to secure glory on the continent with Bayern Munich and will be motivated to avoid the same fate with City.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Monchengladbach reached the group stage by comfortable overcoming Young Boys in their playoff clash, emphatically winning the home leg 6-1. They suffered their first defeat of the season at the weekend to Freiburg in a 3-1 defeat, so boss Andre Schubert will be looking for a reaction from his players.
Man City (4-1-4-1): Bravo; Zabaleta, Stones, Otamendi, Kolarov; Fernandinho; Jesus Navas, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Sterling; Aguero.
Man City subs: Cabellero, Sagna, Nolito, Sane, Clichy, Angelino, Iheanacho.
City have made four changes from their 2-1 win over United, including a debut for Ilkay Gundogan. The German makes his first start since his move from Borussia Dortmund in the heart of midfield, while Pablo Zabaleta, Jesus Navas and Sergio Aguero also return to the fold. David Silva, Kelechi Iheanacho, Bacary Sagna and Nolito make way from the starting line-up.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway very shortly.
Gladbach have made three changes from their defeat to Freiburg. Tony Jantschke, Thorgan Hazard and Ibrahima Traore make way from the team as Fabian Johnson, Mahmoud Dahoud and Andre Hahn come into the line-up.
HALF-TIME: MAN CITY 2-0 GLADBACH
City take a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break thanks to Aguero's brace. Pep Guardiola will be satisfied, although his side's advantage could and should have been greater due to a number of missed opportunities in front of goal. Gladbach have displayed some prowess on the ball, but have only managed one meaningful effort on target.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 4-0 BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
City continue their perfect start to life under Pep Guardiola with a dominant performance this evening. Sergio Aguero was not at his best, but still notched a hat-trick, while Kelechi Iheanacho added a fourth late in the day, which could be important for their goal difference.
