Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Everton and Middlesbrough at Goodison Park.
Everton continued their impressive start to the season with a second-half destruction of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday. Romelu Lukaku ended his drought in front of goal for the Toffees with an emphatic hat-trick against the Black Cats, which brought a huge smile to the face of Ronald Koeman.
The Merseysiders can secure their best start to a Premier League season with a victory this evening, which would put a huge statement down in their batle for a top-four place this term.
Middlesbrough have been solid in the early stages of their campaign, enjoying one victory against the rivals Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Aitor Karanka's men did slip up last week losing at home to Crystal Palace, making them eager to get a positive result at Goodison today.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Everton are unchanged from their win over Sunderland, despite Ross Barkley playing no part in the second half goal glut. Koeman has kept faith with the midfielder playing behind Lukaku in attack. Yannick Bolasie was extremely impressive in the win, and the Dutchman will hope that he can continue to provide the ammunition for Lukaku as he did at the Stadium of Light.
Middlesbrough have made three changes to their side from their defeat to Palace. Marten de Roon, Gaston Ramiez and Emilio Nsue come into the fold, with Adam Clayton, Viktor Fischer and Cristhian Stuani making way. Expect a 4-3-2-1 formation, although Nsue could slip into right-back with Antonio Barragan, Ben Gibson and Daniel Ayala capable of forming a three-man central defence.
The players are making their way out on to the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
STAT ATTACK: Gareth Barry makes his 600th Premier League appearance this evening, becoming the third man to accomplish the feat after Ryan Giggs and Frank Lampard.
HALF-TIME: EVERTON 3-1 MIDDLESBROUGH
An action-packed first half comes to an end at Goodison Park. Everton take a 3-1 lead into the break but they were forced to come from behind when Alvaro Negredo pressured Maarten Stekelenburg into putting the ball into his own net. However, the Toffees responded through Gareth Barry, and strikes late in the half from Seamus Coleman and Romelu Lukaku have put them in command at the interval.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be back underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: EVERTON 3-1 MIDDLESBROUGH
Thanks for joining our commentary. Until next time, goodbye.
Everton secure the three points this evening and with it their best start to a Premier League season. Middlesbrough will be disappointed with the result, having taken the lead through Maarten Stekelenburg's own goal, but Gareth Barry quickly equalised. Seamus Coleman and Romelu Lukaku netted just before the break to put the game beyond the reach of Aitor Karanka's men to continue their side's impressive start to the campaign.
