Puncheon and Campbell link up well midway inside the Liverpool half of the pitch before the latter sends a through-ball into the path of Benteke, but the striker is beaten to the ball by Klavan and the defender does well to poke the ball back to Karius before he can meet it.
90' +2
R. Klavan enters the game and replaces S. Mané.
Mane has made way for Klavan in the final alteration of the night.
90' +1
Almost a chance for Campbell! Palace move the ball around beautifully on the edge of the Liverpool penalty area before Zaha tries to tee up Campbell, who is in a great position in front of goal, but the pass is slightly behind the striker and rolls just a yard or so past him.
90'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be four minutes of added time.
89'
D. Origi enters the game and replaces Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by Origi for the final few minutes of the game.
88'
Mane darts into the right-hand side of the Palace penalty area after linking up well with Coutinho, and the Senegalese midfielder then pokes a pass back to the Brazilian. He's in a good position just inside the box and shoots quickly, but his strike is straight at Mandanda.
87'
Palace win the ball back quickly and work it forward to Puncheon on the edge fo the penalty area. The substitute takes a quick touch before spinning and shooting, but there's slightly too much power behind the strike and it ends up clearing the crossbar.
86'
F. Campbell enters the game and replaces J. McArthur.
Palace have made a late change, with McArthur making way for Campbell. Can the striker make a positive impact for his struggling side?
85'
Ward is bundled over by Firmino on the right wing and Palace are presented with a free-kick in an advantageous position, but the cross from the set-piece is poor and sails straight into the hands of Karius in the middle of the penalty area.
83'
Palace, who now find themselves on the back foot and unable to push too far forward, fire a lofted pass up towards Benteke, who is a lone figure inside the Liverpool half of the pitch. He rises high and initially seems to do well to win the ball, but the referee isn't happy with a flailing arm that makes contact with Matip's neck and he awards a free-kick to the visitors, which the home fans aren't at all happy about.
Minute
Description
81'
Coutinho charges down the left flank on a marauding run before whipping a dangerous cross into the heart of the Palace box, but it's sent a few yards too far in front of Firmino and the goalscorer is unable to meet the ball in a good position in front of goal.
79'
Great play by Coutinho! The Brazilian weaves his way through a group of Palace players as he penetrates the penalty area on a great run, but he's unable to beat Mandanda at the near post and instead sends his shot into the hands of the Frenchman.
77'
The pace of the game has slowed down somewhat, and it's Liverpool who are controlling the game as they try to keep the ball as far away from Palace as possible. The home side look tired and have dropped off slightly, as that fourth goal seems to have killed their enthusiasm to get forward.
76'
G. Wijnaldum enters the game and replaces A. Lallana.
Lallana has made way for Wijnaldum in their first substitution of the night.
74'
J. Puncheon enters the game and replaces J. Ledley.
Palace have made another attacking alteration, with Puncheon coming on to take the place of Ledley.
73'
Zaha, who has arguably been Palace's best attacking player thus far, cuts inside from the right flank before unleashing a thumping shot towards goal, but Karius does well to push the ball away before it's thumped out of play by Lallana.
72'
Roberto Firmino gets yellow.
Firmino removes his shirt as he celebrates his side's latest goal and receives a yellow card as a result.
71'
Roberto Firmino has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by J. Henderson.
That was a gorgeous pass from Henderson, who picked out Firmino perfectly, but questions have to be asked of the Palace centre-back's, who were out of position and failed to deal with the run forward from the Brazilian.
GOAL! Liverpool have increased their lead! Palace, who had dominated the second half up until now, fall asleep and allow Henderson to thread a lovely pass through their back line and into the path of Firmino, who beats Dann and Tomkins far too easily before dinking the ball over Mandanda and into the back of the net.
70'
Zaha goes down inside the penalty area once again, but nothing is given! He breaks into the right-hand side of the box and immediately goes down under a challenge from Can, but the referee isn't interested and waves play on.
68'
Benteke holds up the ball on the edge of the Liverpool box and out-muscles each of his markers before sending the ball out to Ward. The full-back then whips a dangerous cross back into the penalty area and towards the Belgian, but Lovren rises high to deal with the danger with a glancing header away.
66'
A. Townsend enters the game and replaces Lee Chung-Yong.
Palace have made their first substitution of the game, and it's an attacking one, with Lee making way for Townsend.
65'
A half-hearted Palace attacking move breaks down and Liverpool fly forward on a quick counter-attack. Mane charges down the right wing and works the ball over to Clyne, who then cuts it back to Firmino, but the Brazilian tries to set up Coutinho instead of shooting and ends up sending the ball straight into the feet of Ward.
64'
Coutinho twists and turns as he weaves his way towards the Palace penalty area on a great run from the left wing. He then pokes a deft pass over to Lallana, who is in a good position to his right, but the Englishman is unable to control the ball and gives away possession.
62'
Y. Cabaye gets yellow.
Cabaye has received a yellow card for dissent after he had a little too much to say in the aftermath of the referee's penalty decision.
61'
Zaha and Benteke both go down inside the penalty area, but nothing is given! First, Zaha breaks into the right-hand side of the box before going down under a challenge from Lovren, but the referee isn't interested and waves play on. The winger does well to get back to his feet before poking a pass back to Benteke, and the striker is then bundled to the ground by Matip as he tries to reach the ball. It initially looks as if the man in charge is going point to the spot, but he doesn't do so, much to the disbelief of the Palace players and fans.
59'
It's Palace who are on the front foot at the moment as they continue to put Liverpool under plenty of pressure. Once again, Benteke plays an important role in the move before Lee is set up over on the right-hand side of the box, but his first touch is poor and sends the ball rolling out for a goal-kick.
58'
Benteke goes close! A lofted pass forward finds Benteke on the edge of the Liverpool box, and he does well to beat Matip in the air before nodding the ball down to Cabaye. The Frenchman quickly pokes a pass back to the big Belgian, but his quick shot is sent straight into the hands of Karius.
57'
Lee picks up a loose ball in the middle of the pitch and embarks on a marauding run forward as he heads towards the penalty area. The South Korean does well to penetrate the penalty area but runs out of steam at the last minute, resulting in him being dispossessed before he can pick out a teammate.
55'
Mane comes back at the Palace defence once again before spinning and finding Coutinho over to his left, but the Brazilian's first touch is poor and sends the ball away from his feet just as he's about to unleash a shot.
54'
Another great save by Mandanda! Mane breaks through the middle of the Palace back line and latches on to a through-ball from Coutinho before shooting from the edge of the penalty area, but, once again, the French goalkeeper does well to stop the effort from finding the back of the net.
52'
A looping cross from Ward takes a slight deflection of Moreno and sails out for a Palace corner over on the left wing. Cabaye steps up and plays it short to Zaha, but the winger is closed down quickly by both Lallana and Moreno and is quickly dispossessed by the Liverpool duo.
50'
Benteke goes close once again! A deep, looping cross is sent from the resulting corner and finds the Belgian striker in front of goal, but this time his bullet header is well saved by Karius before it can sneak under the crossbar.
49'
E. Can gets yellow.
Chance for Benteke! The resulting free-kick is flung into the Liverpool penalty area, where it finds Dann. The defender rises high above Lovren before nodding the ball down to Benteke, and the former Liverpool striker spins quickly before forcing Karius into making a smart save at the near post.
48'
Can darts into the back of Cabaye and pushes the Frenchman whilst simultaneously stepping on the back of his ankle, and he becomes the first player to receive a yellow card.
46'
And we're underway once again!
45' +3
Firmino is fouled by Kelly deep down the right wing, resulting in a free-kick for Liverpool in a dangerous position. Coutinho steps up and sends another dangerous cross into the heart of the Palace penalty area, but this time it's slightly too near to Mandanda and the Frenchman is easily able to punch the ball away from danger.
45' +2
After a frantic few moments, the pace of the game has slowed down somewhat, with Palace trying to find a way back into the game as Liverpool attempt to keep them at bay. The visitors have certainly been the better of the two sides thus far, but defensive errors mean that what should be a comfortable lead is anything but.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
44'
J. Matip has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho has been excellent thus far and both of the crosses for his assists have been perfect, but neither side seem to want to defend properly at set-pieces. Palace have been just as poor as Liverpool, and that was on shown in the build-up to Liverpool's latest goal.
GOAL! Liverpool are back in front once again! The visitors win themselves a corner over on the right wing, and once again it's sent into a wonderful position by Coutinho. Matip is left all alone by the Palace defence and is presented with a free header, and it's one that he sends flying past Mandanda to make it 3-2.
42'
Zaha and McArthur link up well over on the left flank before the latter cuts inside and sends a deep cross towards Benteke at the far post, but Karius does well to read the flight of the ball and rushes out to beat the Belgian to the ball.
40'
Chance for Lallana! A Palace attack breaks down, and Liverpool immediately hit the home side on a great counter. Coutinho breaks towards the edge of the penalty area before spinning and finding Lallana, but the latter's low cross-cum-shot ends up trickling a few yards wide of the far post. Liverpool just can't seem to hit the back of the net, no matter how hard they try!
38'
And now Mane misses a great opportunity to go back in front! Coutinho, who has been excellent thus far, twists and turns into the box before Clyne pokes a pass back to Mane. The Senegalese midfielder is in a great position in front of goal, but he somehow manages to fire his effort over the top of the crossbar and out for a goal-kick.
37'
What a save by Mandanda! Firmino breaks into the right-hand side of the Palace penalty area before chipping a cross right on to the head of Coutinho, but Mandanda somehow manages to push the Brazilian's effort on to the post and away from danger.
36'
Palace, who look full of confidence after scoring their equaliser, work the ball around nicely and continue to put Liverpool under pressure before a lofted pass is flung towards the penalty area, but Benteke is standing in an offside position and brings a promising attacking move to an end.
34'
Liverpool are all over the place at the back, and that second goal really seems to have rattled them. This time it's Moreno who is caught in possession and fails to clear the danger, allowing Cabaye to pick up the ball and chip it over to Zaha. The latter is slightly offside, however, and the linesman's flag is raised as soon as he makes contact with the ball.
33'
J. McArthur has scored a goal for Crystal Palace! Assist by W. Zaha.
Zaha's cross was perfect and landed right on the head of McArthur, but Moreno failed to stop the ball from reaching the goalscorer whilst Lovren was poor in his attempt to deal with the Palace midfielder.
GOAL! Palace have equalised again! Zaha, who has had few chances to push forward, picks up the ball over on the right wing and quickly whips a lovely cross right on to the head of McArthur, who easily beats Lovren in the air before sending a bullet header into the right-hand side of the net.
31'
A lofted pass is fired down the left flank and into the path of Firmino, who rises high in an attempt to reach the ball. He does so and then knocks it forward to Coutinho, but as soon as he does he's penalised for a flailing arm that strikes Dann.
29'
Moreno hits the post! After Zaha is dispossessed, Liverpool fly forward on another excellent counter-attack. They break through the middle of the pitch through Coutinho, who then spins and picks out Moreno, and the full-back quickly unleashes a thumping strike from close-range that ricochets off the woodwork.
28'
After spending 10 minutes firmly on the back foot, Palace are able to push forward on a rare foray forward, but they're too slow in possession and fail to cause the visitors too many problems before Zaha is easily dispossessed by Henderson.
27'
Liverpool keep coming at Palace as they continue to put the home side under plenty of pressure, but the Eagles are giving a chance to breathe by Mane, who cuts inside from the left wing before firing a wild effort comfortably wide of the goal.
25'
Firmino goes close! Moreno, who has looked really impressive deep down the left flank, skips past Zaha with ease before firing a lovely cross over to the far post. Firmino flies towards the ball and almost meets the ball on the edge of the six-yard box, but it ends up flying just an inch or two over his head.
23'
Firmino almost makes it 3-1! Coutinho flies across the edge of the Palace penalty area before teeing up Firmino to his left, but the latter's low, first-time shot is blocked by Ward, who throws his body in the way of the strike to stop it from troubling Mandanda.
21'
D. Lovren has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Philippe Coutinho.
That was a lovely cross from Coutinho to pick out Lovren, but questions have to be asked of Dann, who was far too lax as he tried to deal with the strength of Lovren.
GOAL! Lovren makes amends for his error! Coutinho's second corner is wonderfully hit and flies straight on to the head of Lovren, who beats Dann in the air far too easily before nodding a lovely headed effort past Mandanda. What a start to the game it's been!
20'
Mane makes a nuisance of himself and does well to win his side a corner over on the left flank, but Coutinho's low cross fails to pick out a teammate and Liverpool have to settle for a second corner.
18'
J. McArthur has scored a goal for Crystal Palace!
GOAL! What a terrible mistake by Lovren! An awful attempted clearance from the defender under no pressure whatsoever sails into the air and on to the head of McArthur, who is easily able to nod the ball past the outstretched limbs of Karius and into the back of the net to make it 1-1. Klopp doesn't look at all impressed, and it's no wonder why!
16'
E. Can has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by Alberto Moreno.
Moreno did wonderfully well to pick out Can with a clever pass straight into the feet of the midfielder, but he was left in far too much space by Zaha, who failed to track the run and was punished for his error.
GOAL! Liverpool have taken the lead! Coutinho chips a lovely lofted pass over the top of the Palace defence and into the path of Moreno, who skips past Zaha far too easily before knocking the ball back to Can. The German peels away from his marker and is easily able to fire a low shot past both Dann and Mandanda and into the back of the net.
15'
Liverpool have enjoyed almost 80% of the possession so far as they continue to put Palace under plenty of pressure. The home side are sitting deep but are inviting pressure on them, and that could prove to be a risky tactic as the game wears on.
13'
Can is dispossessed by Ward in the middle of the pitch and Palace break away quickly. Ward tees up Benteke on the edge of the penalty area and the striker holds up the ball well before sending it over to Ledley on the left wing, but the midfielder's cross back towards the Belgian sails over his head before being cleared by Moreno.
11'
Poor play by Zaha results in him being easily dispossessed by Moreno, who then bursts forward on a marauding run. The Spaniard heads down the wing and tees up Coutinho, who then chips a cross into the box, but it fails to find Firmino and is again dealt with by Tomkins.
9'
Liverpool try to come back once again, but they're unable to find a way through the wall of Palace players in front of them an lose out to Cabaye. The home side quickly lose possession themselves, however, and allow Mane to break into the penalty area, but his attempted cut-back to Firmino fails to find the Brazilian and is cut out by Tomkins.
7'
Can ploughs forward on a determined run over on the left, but he's closed down by a pack of Palace players before being dragged to the ground. The referee awards Liverpool a free-kick that is quickly worked up to Coutinho, but the Brazilian is unable to get past Ward and ends up firing his cross over the top of the crossbar.
5'
The hosts seem content to allow Liverpool to dominate possession as they sit deep to try and soak up the pressure being put on them. As a result, the visitors are able to pass the ball around patiently before Henderson tries to tee up Clyne over on the right, but the defender's run forward is slightly mistimed and the linesman's flag is raised as soon as he makes contact with the ball.
3'
Palace pick up possession in the middle of the pitch and work the ball over to Zaha, who is in a good position over on the left flank. Moreno steps off the winger and allows him to fire a great cross on to the head of Benteke, but the striker is unable to guide his effort towards goal and is eventually beaten by Can.
2'
Liverpool immediately push forward on an early attacking move as Mane tees up Clyne deep down the right flank. The full-back picks up the ball in a pocket of space and quickly fires a low cross towards the near post, but it fails to find Firmino and Palace deal with the danger.
1'
And we're off! Liverpool get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Selhurst Park.
For the first time since the frantic and action-packed 2013-14 season, people are starting to talk about Liverpool being legitimate title contenders. The Reds have enjoyed a wonderful start to the season, and they head into today’s clash unbeaten in their last 10 games and with a chance to move equal on points with both Manchester City and Arsenal once again if they’re victorious.
Seven of those 10 unbeaten games have come in the Premier League, and during that time Liverpool have bagged an impressive 16 goals. Jurgen Klopp’s men have also looked far more solid at the back than they did last season, resulting in no side managing to score more than one goal against them in a league game since Burnley won 2-0 in August.
As for Palace, it’s been a relatively solid start to the campaign for them, and one that has seen them shake off the disappointment of finishing last season in such poor form. A wonderful September saw them win three consecutive games for the first time since April 2015, but since then it’s been slightly tougher for the Eagles, who are now without a victory in their previous three encounters.
One of today’s most intriguing battles will be between Christian Benteke and a Liverpool defence that could struggle to deal with his strength and power. The former Reds striker flopped at Anfield but seems to be enjoying life in South London, where he has already scored three goals. He hasn’t yet managed to score at Selhurst Park, however, and would surely love to bag his first home goal against his former employers.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
Liverpool substitutes: Mignolet, Randall, Klavan, Lucas, Wijnaldum, Origi, Sturridge.
Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Karius; Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Moreno; Lallana, Henderson, Can; Mane, Firmino, Coutinho.
Alan Pardew has decided to make two changes to the Palace side that started the 3-1 defeat against Leicester City last weekend, with Scott Dann and Chung-Yong Lee coming into the starting line-up to replace Damien Delaney and Andros Townsend, respectively.
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made 10 alterations to the team that featured against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup during the week, with only Alberto Moreno remaining in a squad that is almost identical to the one that started against West Bromwich Albion in their last league outing.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 2-3 LIVERPOOL
Well, what an exciting opening 45 minutes that has been! Both sides have looked incredibly open at the back, resulting in the two sets of attackers finding plenty of joy every time they push forward. All but one of the goals scored have come from headers, showing just how much trouble high balls into the box have been causing. As it stands, Liverpool head into the half-time break in front, but anything could end up happening in what is sure to be a fantastic second half.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 2-4 LIVERPOOL
It wasn't quite as straight-forward as they would have liked, but Liverpool managed to get there in the end and deserved to pick up all three points. They were scintillating when attacking, with Firmino, Mane and, in particular, Coutinho all causing Palace plenty of problems, but at the back they were suspect to say the least, resulting in the home side constantly making life tough for them with a high balls into the box. They just about managed to hold on, however, and remain equal on points with Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the table.
