The fourth official wastes everyone's night now and announces that there will only be three minutes of stoppage time added on. Every viewer watching this wants at least 10 more minutes as it has unquestionably been one of the games of the season!
89'
Jesús Navas enters the game and replaces R. Sterling.
The last five minutes of play has been fairly underwhelming considering the circumstances, but this will play straight into the hands of City who want the final whistle now. Another time wasting substitution sees Sterling come off to be replaced by Jesus Navas.
88'
N. Dirar enters the game and replaces T. Bakayoko.
87'
Fernando enters the game and replaces S. Agüero.
Last throw of the dice from Monaco as Dirar replaces Bakayoko for the final change.
86'
Pep Guardiola makes a change now as Aguero leaves the pitch to be replaced by Fernando. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the first negative, defensive, or pragmatic tactical change made by either manager all evening.
84'
João Moutinho enters the game and replaces Bernardo Silva.
Another positive change from Jardim. A Portuguese comes on for another as Bernardo Silva makes way for his compatriot, Joao Moutinho.
82'
L. Sané has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by S. Agüero.
Unselfish work from Aguero as he assists Sane whilst on a hat-trick.
GOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLL FOR MAN CITY! That is FIVE! With Monaco all over the place at the back, Silva clips a gorgeous pass in behind for Aguero, who shows superb composure to simply square to Sane, who passes home into the empty net! FIVE-THREE! This is a quite unbelievable football match.
81'
Fabinho gets yellow.
Yellow card Fábio Henrique Tavares
Phew. We can all breath in a little now as the play has just calmed down ever-so-slightly. Germain goes forward into the box, but Stones defends with strength this time and comes in to make the excellent tackle to win possession back for City inside their own half.
79'
V. Germain enters the game and replaces K. Mbappé.
Jardim reacts almost immediately to going behind and introduces another talented forward in the form of Valere Germain, with the impressive Mbappe coming off for the last 10 minutes. The latter has been so impressive tonight. Certainly one to watch as he is only 18-years-old.
77'
J. Stones has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by Y. Touré.
Good physical presence from Toure inside the box as he flicks on for Stones to score.
GOOOOAAAL! GOOOAAALL! GOOAAALL FOR CITY! WHAT A TURNAROUND! Another corner kick is the source of a goal for the hosts as it is curled to the front post for Toure who rises high to flick on to the danger area. Stones gets just ahead of Aguero to pop a finish home, and atone for his mistake for Falcao's second in the process! FOUR-THREE.

Description
76'
Bernardo Silva gets yellow.
Even with all the beautiful football on display here tonight, the game has been littered with cheap fouls and subsequent yellow cards. The latest guilty party is Bernardo Silva who cynically hauls back De Bruyne to halt a City counter.
74'
Just over 15 minutes to go in this utterly enthralling Champions League last-16 clash at the Etihad. We have already seen six goals, but the way this game is going you would be VERY surprised if this finishes at 3-3 before the second leg. Both teams are still going for it - incredible!
73'
P. Zabaleta gets yellow.
72'
This game is being played at break-neck-speed and as Monaco are awarded a cheap free-kick, Zabaleta goes into the book for some dissent towards the referee, who is having none of it.
71'
S. Agüero has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by David Silva.
70'
Silva assists the equaliser with a corner.
GOOOOAAAALLL! GOOOAAAALLL FOR CITY! The hosts equalise again! Silva curls in a beautiful corner from the right wing and Aguero meets it at the back post to cushion a lovely first-time volley bouncing into the bottom corner. Three-three! WHAT. A. GAME.
68'
Sterling has been a real bright spark for Manchester City tonight and goes on another marauding run cutting inside from the right wing. He makes his way into the box and then goes down under the challenge of Mendy, but the referee correctly waves away the protests from the hosts for the penalty as the left-back cleanly won possession.
67'
R. Falcao gets yellow.
66'
There is an entertaining duel going on between Stones and Falcao so far. Well, if you can call the Colombian bullying his opposite number for the majority of the game a duel. However, he takes it a little too far on this occasion as he goes in late for the nasty tackle to receive a booking.
64'
Zabaleta gets involved positively shortly after coming off the bench as he exchanges a neat one-two with De Bruyne before bombing through to the byline. The cross is drilled to the front post but before Sterling can get the finish in, Gilk puts behind for a corner-kick.
62'
P. Zabaleta enters the game and replaces Fernandinho.
Guardiola reacts quickly to going behind so quickly after equalising and it is Fernandinho who comes off to be replaced by Zabaleta, who is of course more comfortable at left-back than the Brazilian.
61'
R. Falcao has scored a goal for Monaco! Assist by T. Lemar.
Lemar gets the assist, but that goal was all-Falcao!
GOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLL FOR MONACO! What an INCREDIBLE bit of skill from Falcao! Another speculative ball is sent down the channel from Monaco and the Colombian collects before bullying Stones off the ball and delicately dinking a chip over the oncoming Caballero from 12 yards. The most gorgeous finish you will ever see! Three-one.
58'
S. Agüero has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by R. Sterling.
Excellent work both defensively and offensively from Sterling for the assist.
GOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLL FOR MAN CITY! We are back on level terms! Sterling does superbly well to nick the ball off the full-back down the right before sprinting forward at pace to release Aguero into the box. The resulting strike is poor from the former Atletico man, but it doesn't matter as Subasic allows it to go cleanly underneath him! Awful goalkeeping! Two-two.
56'
It was quite the storm that City managed to weather in the first 10 minutes of the second period from Monaco, albeit fortuitously after that missed penalty. Everything is just a bit more calm and collected from the hosts, much to the relief of the Etihad crowd.
55'
T. Bakayoko gets yellow.
54'
The yellow cards are coming thick and fast for Monaco now and the latest guilty party is Bakayoko who is forced to bring down Sterling after being outpaced by the Englishman down the right touchline.
52'
There really is a nervous energy in the Etihad at the moment as the City fans just do not trust their defence to shut out Monaco any more. The hosts have already conceded two, but the way things are going it could easily be three or four!
50'
Penalty saved by W. Caballero!
Otamendi is booked as he concedes the penalty!
VITAL save from Caballero from the pen.
MONACO MISS THE PENALTY! Falcao, who missed a spot-kick against Tottenham earlier on this season, fails to score again as he sends a tame strike down to the right which is easily saved by Caballero.
PENALTY TO MONACO! As Falcao misses that chance, Otamendi is booked and penalised for the despairing tackle to try and stop him.
49'
N. Otamendi gets yellow.
48'
FALCAO! HOW CLOSE WAS THAT?! Mendy gets down the left AGAIN before curling a cross into the box for the Colombian, but the resulting strike on goal goes JUST the wrong side of the post!
46'
The second half is under way at the Etihad! Keep the goals coming.
44'
Monaco are looking increasingly dangerous on the counter here which isn't ideal for City who have been less-than-convincing at the back this season. On this occasion, Falcao threatens again, but ends up slamming an attempt into the side-netting from the left.
42'
VITAL CLEARANCE FROM RAGGI! City look to respond quickly to going a goal behind as they pepper the Monaco backline with balls into the box. Subasic makes a mistake with one which allows Sane to smuggle a strike on goal, but the Italian defender is on hand to clear with the commanding overhead kick.
40'
K. Mbappé has scored a goal for Monaco! Assist by Fabinho.
Fernandinho gets yellow.
Second booking in quick succession for City and it goes to Fernandinho.
GOOOOAAAAAALLLL FOR MONACO! The visitors complete the turnaround, and in simple fashion! Fabinho clips a speculative ball over the top of the City defence and Mbappe easily gets to it before Otamendi which allows him to burst into the box and smash a finish into the top left corner! Two-one.
Superb assist again for Fabinho!
39'
This really has been an outstanding game of football so far between two sides who simply just want to score as many goals as possible. Yes, the defending could be better, but the forward play is making for a hell of a good watch!
36'
Monaco go route one right over the top and it is Mbappe who collects before opening up his stride with a gliding run to the edge of the box. From a difficult angle, he fires a strike towards goal which flashes JUST over the top of the left-hand top corner. Really unlucky.
35'
S. Agüero gets yellow.
34'
A really controversial moment now as Aguero goes through on goal one-on-one with the goalkeeper, only to go down under the challenge of Subasic. The referee books the Argentine for diving, but there did appear to be contact on him, even if the Monaco stopper got the ball slightly too.
32'
R. Falcao has scored a goal for Monaco! Assist by Fabinho.
Now THAT is what you call service for a striker! Superb assist from Fabinho.
GOOOOOAAAALLLLL FOR MONACO! A superb equaliser from the French side! Caballero, in his attempts to play out from the back, sends a wayward ball down the left which is eventually picked up by Fabinho, who subsequently curls an absolute beauty of a cross to the back post. Falcao makes no mistake and scores with the diving header! One-one!
30'
Mendy gets into an advanced are down the left flank and gains a yard of space on Sagna before whipping an absolutely sensational cross deep towards the back post. Falcao typically lingers looking for a predatory finish, but a superb interception from Fernandinho sees City survive at the back! Still 1-0.
28'
A vital opener from City, then, who have actually not took the lead in too many European matches this season. However, Monaco will not stray away from their gameplan of flooding men forward so Guardiola's men still have to keep their composure at the back under the barrage of red and white kits.
26'
R. Sterling has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by L. Sané.
GOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL FOR MAN CITY! The hosts take the lead! Sane takes on Sidibe, who has just been booked, with a penetrating run and bulldozes his way through before eventually receiving a pass back from Silva near towards the byline. The German then smashes an emphatic cross along the box for Sterling to stab home! One-nil.
Fantastic work from Sane for the assist as he takes three defenders out the game with a fabulous, penetrating dribble!
25'
D. Sidibé gets yellow.
Another booking for Monaco as Sidibe is penalised for a cynical foul on Sane after previously being unpunished for a similar foul on Silva.
24'
A MASSIVE MISS FROM AGUERO! Sterling, who is becoming increasingly more prominent as a threat to the visitors, picks up the ball on the right wing again before curling a teasing cross along the six-yard box, but the Argentine striker is unable to stick out a leg to turn a strike on goal, seemingly put off by the oncoming Subasic.
22'
The game has been pretty open so far with both sides enjoying some decent periods down the wings and in behind. The only surprising thing is that neither goalkeeper has been tested to a particularly high degree in their respective goals, even with the impressive build-up play.
20'
City get the corner on the right which Sane will take. The German takes it quick before receiving the ball back from De Bruyne to leave a couple of defenders in his wake with a cracking turn of pace to hit the byline, but the subsequent cross into the box is very easily intercepted by Monaco. A disappointing end to a promising move for the hosts.
18'
Mbappe leaves Otamendi for dead with a scintillating turn just outside the centre circle before powering ahead ominously. He threads a ball to the left for the onrushing Mendy who sees a drilled shot towards the front post saved by Caballero, who spills the rebound. Falcao springs into action, but is flagged as offside.
16'
Sterling attempts to utilise his tremendous pace to try and get in Mendy down the right and into the box. Subasic comes off his line to clear, but only as far as Aguero who collects the loose ball before popping a cross-cum-shot into the box, only for Raggi to head behind for a corner-kick.
14'
Absolutely wonderful play in the middle of the park by Bernardo Silva as he bounces off the tackle of Sane before cleverly nutmegging Toure. The talented Portuguese then slides a lovely pass through the centre for Falcao, but some excellent defending from Otamendi sees the Colombian dispossessed.
12'
City manage to get the ball in the back of the Monaco net after some neart interplay from Silva and Sterling near the byline. The Spaniard receives the ball back before popping a finish home, but the flag is up very quickly to penalise Sterling after he just went ahead of the play. Good decision.
10'
Mbappe picks up the ball on the left channel and quickly makes his way into the City box with a twisting and turning run. A few Monaco players wait to try and get the shot away, but the hosts manage to clear before Caballero is forced into making a save between the sticks.
8'
K. Glik gets yellow.
We see the first booking of the match now and it is a damaging one for Monaco as Glik will now MISS the second leg after taking out Sane down the right-hand side. Not only is he out of the return leg, but he will have to play 80+ minutes left in this fixture whilst on a yellow!
6'
A cracking tempo to the game in these early stages and one thing is for sure, neither outfit is looking to sit back and soak up the pressure. City know they need to do well with the home advantage, but to be fair to Leonardo Jardim and his charges, they are typically showing no fear going forward either. Why would you when you have scored over 100 goals already this season?!
4'
De Bruyne takes the early pressure off his defence with a marauding run deep down the right wing before cutting back to pass inside to Toure. Sterling is eventually fed into the box where he forces Subasic into the save, but the former Liverpool winger is quickly waved as offside by the linesman.
3'
A positive opening to proceedings from Monaco who are looking to press City high up the pitch. As expected, Guardiola's men are playing the ball patiently out from the back but the frontline of the visitors certainly aren't making it easy at the moment.

We are under way at the Etihad!
When the group stage draw was made, Pep Guardiola's men were up against the unenviable task of trying to topple the might of Barcelona in order to earn the top spot. They failed to do so, despite beating the Catalan side at home, and have paid the price here as they take on a top-seeded outfit in the form of Monaco, who have been scoring with absolute ease this season. Without putting the commentator's curse on proceedings, we should be in for some goals between these two impressive sides over the two legs!
Good evening football fans! Welcome to LIVE coverage of the UEFA Champions League last-16 encounter between Manchester City and Monaco from the Etihad Stadium.

The teams are making their way to the pitch and we are almost ready for kick-off!
We are witnessing a little bit of history tonight as this will actually be the first time that Man City and Monaco will face each other in a competitive fixture. The French side actually have an impressive record against English teams in the knockout stage of the Champions League, and have come out on top on all three occasions against Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal respectively. The Citizens have only faced Paris Saint-Germain from France, and are unbeaten in three games against them.
Half-time at the Etihad. A quite brilliant first half comes to an end as Monaco go into the break with a slender 2-1 lead. City took the lead through Sterling, but the visitors continued to threaten and eventually netted two through Falcao and then Mbappe, who has lit up the stadium at times. An unmissable second period coming up.
Full-time at the Etihad. An absolutely sensational game of football sadly comes to an end as Manchester City defeat Monaco 5-3 in the first leg of this Champions League last-16 tie. Falcao and Aguero were the star men for their respective sides in what proved to be a topsy-turvy affair with all emotions being registered by the managers, but City gain the advantage before the second leg, which can't come quick enough. Thanks for joining us!
