We're underway at the Etihad Stadium.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Burnley at the Etihad Stadium.
City are in imperious form in the Premier League having won their last six matches on the spin. Pep Guardiola's men put seven goals past Stoke City last time out and will be keen to maintain their dominance at the top of the table.
They needed a penalty miss during the week to continue their winning run in the Champions League against Napoli. Although City played impressive football to take a 2-0 lead, they did need Dries Mertens to miss from the spot, which proved to be costly for the Italian side. Amadou Diawara did score from 12 yards in the second half, but City displayed resilience to hold out for three points.
Burnley have been resilient this season and are continuing to perform brilliantly under Sean Dyche, so much so the manager is courting attention from other clubs. He has reaffired his commitment to the cause at Turf Moor, with his side currently in eighth place in the table.
The Clarets are unbeaten since their defeat at the hands of West Brom in the second week of the campaign, winning two and drawing four of their last six matches. They needed a late strike from Chris Wood to claim a point against 10-man West Ham last week, highlighting their resilience. However, they'll need a special performance this afternoon to keep their run alive.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
CITY (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Delph; Fernandinho, Silva, De Bruyne; Sane, Aguero, Bernardo.
City subs: Bravo, Danilo, Sterling, Gundogan, Mangala, Jesus, Toure.
City have made two changes from their win over Napoli during the week. Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero return to the fold to replace Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, with both players dropping to the bench this afternoon.
Burnley are unchanged from their draw against West Ham last week. Wood continues to the lead the line, supported by Hendrick in an advanced position in front of the four-man midfield, although opportunities to push forward will be limited today.
FLASHBACK! Manchester City needed a strong performance to defeat Burnley in this fixture last season. Fernandinho was dismissed in the first half, but goals from Gael Clichy and Aguero edged Guardiola's men to victory, despite an effort from Ben Mee.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shorly.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 BURNLEY
Manchester City lead 1-0 at the break against Burnley thanks to Sergio Aguero's effort from the penalty spot. The home side have not been at ther fluent best, but have still forced Nick Pope into action to keep the Clarets in the game. City have been solid at the back other than one mistake by Kevin De Bruyne in possession. Pep Guardiola's men have huge incentive to win this match with the news that Manchester United are losing 2-0 away to Huddersfield Town. That could give City a five-point lead at the top of the table this evening.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 3-0 BURNLEY
Manchester City win their 11th match on the bounce in all competitions as goals from Sergio Aguero, Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane guide them past Burnley this afternoon. Pep Guardiola's men were not at their best, but were still good enough to secure the win comfortably in the end. The Clarets were resilient for the majority of the contest, but were undone by the quality of City in the end.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
