Bayern returned to Bundesliga action after the winter break last week with a win over Bayer Leverkusen on the road. Goals from Javi Martinez and Franck Ribery put them ahead, although Kevin Volland's strike set up a tense finish. However, James Rodriguez secured the victory with a late effort. Jupp Heynckes' men have now won their last five league matches and have recorded 10 wins in 11 to hold a 13-point lead at the top of the table.

Werder Bremen are involved in the battle at the opposite end of the table, sitting in the relegation play-off position. Florian Kohfeldt's men drew in their return to action against Hoffenheim on the road as Theodore Gebre Selassie cancelled out Benjamin Hubner's opener. However, Bremen are winless in their last three matches and are four points adrift of Mainz in their bid to avoid the drop.
