It's the last chance saloon for Southampton - and Ward-Prowse's kick hits the first man instead. Davis tries a low skimming shot from 30 yards out; it takes a deflection and Ryan saves with the ball heading wide. That'll be the game - and referee Mike Dean blows for full-time!
90' +1
A chance for Brighton goes begging as Ulloa's late touch falls to Stephens who punts it away. Saints then get a free-kick as Dunk fouls Boufal and the pair square up physically.
90'
M. Gabbiadini gets yellow.
Gabbiadini is booked for a silly challenge on Kayal now and the visitors have a free-kick 40 yards out. Three added minutes on the way.
89'
Davis fouls Kayal in midfield and Brighton get a free-kick now which they use to pin Saints back. Hojbjerg suddenly breaks free and puts Carrillo away; his last touch in the box though gives Ryan the moment he needs to dart in and claim the ball.
87'
Southampton have dominated this game, yet their lack of fluency outside of Boufal in this second-half has only granted them half-chances. They may take a point from this game - but it could have been more.
86'
A rare second-half chance for Brighton, as they earn a corner now off a Stephens deflection; McCarthy claims clearly though and Saints begin a stop-start counter.
85'
Ward-Prowse lifts a ball into the box; too far, as it turns out, as it hits the top netting of the goal instead. Five minutes of regular time left...
83'
B. Kayal enters the game and replaces P. Groß.
Gross is off for Brighton now; Beram Kayal is on in his place.
A free-kick some 30 yards out on the right for Southampton now comes up with nothing as Duffy puts Propper through to midfield with a clearance.
81'
Cedric lobs a high cross in from the right of the Brighton box, looking for Gabbiadini; Schelotto clears instead with a flying kick of his own.
80'
S. March gets yellow.

Description
79'
M. Gabbiadini enters the game and replaces S. Long.
Manolo Gabbiadini is Southampton's final change, replacing Long.
78'
Boufal is steamrollered by March just outside the Brighton box as he looks to play a ball in for Long; the Brighton man is then himself tripped by a Hojbjerg tackle and earns a free-kick.
77'
L. Ulloa enters the game and replaces G. Murray.
Brighton make their first change now; Leonardo Ulloa comes on for Murray up front.
75'
Boufal tries to curl a shot in from 20 yards outside on the left and takes a deflection off Duffy; Long can't reach the rebound in time and Brighton ship the ball downfield in desperation.
73'
With a 10-man wall spread across the middle of the box, Ward-Prowse's free-kick can't find a way through and rebounds away for a throw-in on halfway.
72'
Free-kick on the edge of the Seagulls penalty area as Dunk is penalised for a handball off a Ward-Prowse shot. The Brighton captain is not happy with the call, but referee Dean's decision stands.
70'
Confusion in the Brighton box as Ward-Prowse slips a short ball in, looking for Long or Davis. Neither get there as Dunk clears as far as Hojbjerg - and the Saints man puts his 25-yard effort straight to the keeper Ryan through a congested penalty area.
67'
J. Stephens gets yellow.
Stephens gets a booking now for an ugly challenge on Propper, looking to slow down Brighton's attempted counter in midfield.
66'
That's a frustrating score to concede for the Seagulls, a messy effort they should have shored up easily enough. They counter swiftly - and Murray is caught offside as he canters into the box to meet a Gross cross from the right.
64'
J. Stephens has scored a goal for Southampton!
Southampton draw level! Ward-Prowse's free-kick is either terrible or genius, a low, scuffed effort when everyone in the box was expecting a proper cross. It skitters between various pairs of legs, and takes a large deflection off March - before Stephens gets the final touch to nudge it into the right side of the net. It's not pretty - but Saints will take it no matter what it looks like. 1-1 at St Mary's Stadium.
63'
Boufal puts a shot on from just inside the left edge of the Brighton penalty area, though Duffy deflects it. The substitute tries again - and earns a free-kick on the cusp of the box after a foul by March.
61'
Smart keeping from McCarthy, who leaps off his line to claim a Gross cross from out wide heading for the far left post and Murray.
60'
A corner for Saints on their right brings no rewards as Duffy shuts down Cedric's attempt to play the ball in. Whilst Boufal has brought an added dimension to Southampton's left flank, their right looks rather tired instead.
58'
Free-kick now for Brighton in the centre circle as Davis fouls March. Brighton play long down the right wing with Schelotto - but Hoedt clears and sparks a sluggish counter down his own right side.
56'
A free-kick in midfield now for Southampton after Murray leans on Davis; referee Dean exchanges words with both men before play continues.
54'
It's a poor corner from Saints, salvaged by a late Ward-Prowse lob into the box; Stephens gets the header and steers it over the crossbar despite his best efforts.
53'
Corner to Southampton, as Duffy deflects a Bertrand cross at close range following a sweeping pass downfield on the left by Boufal.
52'
Referee Dean gets in on the action as Davis feeds a pass left into the box for Boufal; Propper nips in to clear and gets a kind deflection off the official to help spirit the ball away.
50'
Ryan comes very close to making another critical error at the back for Brighton; Boufal lobs a weak effort at the keeper who, lax in his approach, spills it to ground in front of an open net. He's in luck; Dunk and Duffy hold off Long to give him enough time to reclaim.
48'
Boufal does indeed spark a sniff of a chance for Saints now, pushing down the left flank and playing in - to nobody, as it turns out, with Long failing to read the move and Ryan sweeping it up instead.
46'
S. Boufal enters the game and replaces Oriol Romeu.
G. Carrillo enters the game and replaces D. Tadić.
...and Guido Carrillo takes the place of Tadic. Will they be the key to Southampton reversing their fortunes?
We're back underway at St Mary's Stadium and the hosts have made two changes at the break; Romeu is off, replaced by Sofiane Boufal...
45' +1
It's Brighton who get the last attack of the half, with Izquierdo trying to play a ball round the left edge of the Saints box for Murray. It doesn't quite work out and takes a deflection for a throw-in - and the referee blows for half-time!
45'
One extra minute of added time on the way here. Can Saints get that goal?
43'
And it's to the unmarked left-back that Ward-Prowse puts the corner. Bertrand lifts his shot just over the crossbar - but it was close, out by mere inches.
42'
Corner on the left for Southampton now as Duffy clears a Tadic cross. Bertrand is hanging back at the edge of the box...
40'
Ryan clears another Tadic cross, as the Saints man looks to find Long on his right. The keeper makes sure to avoid any oncoming defenders this time from the opposition.
37'
This has been all Southampton since the 10th minute, Murray's penalty aside. Mauricio Pellegrino will have some strong words at half-time if his side don't find an equaliser before the break.
35'
W. Hoedt gets yellow.
Hoedt gets a booking now for a foul on March out wide on the right wing, trapping the Brighton man on halfway as he looked to check a counter-attack.
34'
That was a huge let-off for Brighton, and the Seagulls know it. Southampton are continuing to press though; Tadic slips another great cross in and Dunk just manages to scissor-kick it away before Hoedt can arrive to poke it in behind Ryan.
32'
Ryan is a lucky man! The Brighton keeper is played back a pass by Dunk and looks to punt it downfield - only for Hojbjerg to race up and deflect his effort onto the bar, whereupon it rebounds back into the box, with Duffy smashing it away to safety.
30'
A half-chance for Southampton as Duffy stumbles and Tadic presses round him, playing the ball on into the Brighton box. Ryan comes off his line to claim - and very nearly misses the ball as Long arrives to try and pop it in.
28'
Bertrand chances it from the left edge of the penalty area and skims his shot across the roof of the net. Southampton have had nearly all the chances since they conceded that penalty.
27'
Southampton come again, with Tadic crossing at speed from the left. It runs across the face of goal and eventually finds Cedric on the right, but by that point, the Saints man has been outnumbered in defence and he is forced to play back to halfway.
25'
A Cedric throw-in finds Ward-Prowse on the right of the Seagulls box, who taps it back to Hojbjerg for a shot 18 yards out - and Stephens bodychecks the effort away to midfield with a big deflection.
24'
Romeu bombs a chance from 20 yards out in front after a Ward-Prowse play-back pass off the corner, sending it wildly off into the stands. Brighton still lead with just over a quarter of the game gone.
22'
Superb defending from Dunk who slides in to deny Long a tap-in from a Ward-Prowse cross. Corner to Saints.
20'
Free-kick to Southampton now, 30 yards out after March brings down Bertrand on the left. It's the latter who turns it into the box; Long can't control his header and pushes it right to Murray instead who clears the immediate danger.
18'
Schelotto rampages down the right wing now, bypassing the Saints midfield as he tears into the opposition half. The full-back gets near the box - but Bertrand is there to force his effort to cross wide and out.
16'
Southampton will have to be more alert to those counter-attacks down the wing that allowed Brighton to sneak three or four men into the box in the first place. Long looks to run onto a long ball in the Seagulls box, played through by Tadic; it runs deep and out for a goal-kick.
14'
Penalty goal scored by G. Murray for Brighton & Hove Albion!
Penalty to Brighton! The Seagulls muscle into the Saints box, where Hoedt catches March on the ankle. Mike Dean points to the spot and St Mary's Stadium is in uproar.
Murray steps up to take - and slots it coolly down the middle, as McCarthy goes to his right. Brighton have the lead in Saints' backyard inside the first quarter-hour.
13'
It's a sprightly corner from Saints, met by Romeu near the edge of the box; his header however sails well over the crossbar.
12'
A corner to Southampton now as Cedric's attempt to cross is put out by Dunk. Ward-Prowse to take...
11'
It's a poor corner from Brighton that Saints usher away through Ward-Prowse; though only as far as Propper who puts a 25 yard effort from distance well wide and over.
10'
Sparky flashes from both sides in these opening exchanges as Gross pokes a ball into the Southampton box for Murray that Stephens clips out for a corner.
8'
Murray nearly gets to a long ball punted downfield by Propper on the left edge of the Saints box; Stephens outmuscles him to claim and plays it back to keeper McCarthy for safety.
7'
Bertrand looks to put a smart cross from the left flank into the Seagulls penalty area for Long; March puts his body in the way to deflect out for a throw that Duffy then pinches from Tadic.
5'
Long tries a neat chip over the defence from within the box for Saints and pulls it off; keeper Mat Ryan reads it well though and claims on the full as the ball comes down.
3'
Saints counter with their own attack now, as Davis lofts a cross from the left, 20 yards out into the box for Cedric. It runs too deep for the defender to reach, and spills away for a goal-kick.
1'
We're underway on the south coast! It's Southampton who kick off, but within half a minute, Brighton break towards goal, Murray leaning into the defence on the right and playing a flat pass across the box for Izquierdo to tap home. Alas, the winger bottles it - and puts the ball somewhere into the crowd behind. A golden chance for the Seagulls goes begging.
Hello, and welcome to a relegation dogfight from the 2017-18 Premier League, as Southampton host Brighton and Hove Albion in a scrap for three vital points on the road to survival. Between them, the pair have mustered a single win in their last twelve combined games; can one of these sides change their fortunes tonight? Kick-off is around the corner.
It’s been a dire campaign for Saints, who sit one place from bottom without a win in 11; a loss tonight would equal their worst-ever streak in the competition, way back in March 1995. They face off against a Seagulls side however who have scored fewer away goals than any other Premier League team this season, with only five to their name. It may not have the makings of a classic – but this match could very much make or break either club's chances of survival.
Line-ups in for both teams ahead of this midweek game at St Mary’s Stadium…
Aside from their lack of goals on the road, Brighton are yet to find the net in any of their midweek fixtures this season in the Premier League; they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace and lost 2-0 to both Tottenham and Chelsea. Neither have they scored on their last two away league trips to Southampton; the last time they went three in a row without netting was November 1953.
They may be almost propping up the table, but Saints will know that a win could potentially catapult them to 13th, given the highly congested lower half of the league this season. One statistic to give them hope: they have only lost once in their last 27 home games with newly promoted opposition, with 17 wins and nine draws to their name.
Brighton’s chances arguably rest at the feet of striker Pascal Gross tonight; the Seagulls forward has had a hand in 53% of Brighton’s 17 Premier League goals this season, the highest individual player ratio in the division.
The teams are out and we're moments away at St Mary's Stadium...
Mixed fortunes on the scoresheet for Saints; they’ve got goals in each of their last six Premier League home games, netting nine in total. However, they have also conceded in every one of those matches too; only once in the Premier League have they had a longer run of both scoring and conceding in home games (eight, between February and August 2016).
In a contest dominated by the hosts, it's the visitors who have the lead on the south coast. A Glenn Murray penalty, converted after a foul on Solly March, gave Brighton the lead - but can they hang on to it against a Southampton side who have since ridden roughshod all over them? Half-time at St Mary's Stadium, it's Southampton 0-1 Brighton and Hove Albion.
Boos ring out around St Mary's Stadium and it's easy to see why. Saints had 66 percent possession and 17 shots on goal - and yet only have a scruffy Jack Stephens score to show for their efforts against a Brighton side short on ideas. Chris Hughton will take that point after a shoddy second-half showing; Mauricio Pellegrino will have to settle for just the one too. Full-time, it's Southampton 1-1 Brighton and Hove Albion.
Both sides face off against lower-half opposition once more this weekend, with Southampton travelling to the Midlands to face bottom-place West Brom; whilst Brighton host West Ham, looking for their first win in four too. Until then however, thank you for joining us - and have a good week!
