Indeed, Lopes waits for the last few seconds to tick over before delivering his kick - and the referee blows for full-time.

A chance for Tousart, as he breaks through on goal, only for Akinfeev to save his slow shot - and then he is booked for a time-wasting foul as CSKA counter.

Minute
Description
81'
It's another - or rather a series of - squandered chance as Golovin and Vitinho fail to wrap their feet around a Wernbloom cross bang in front of the Lyon goal before it is muzzled out for a corner.
79'
It's a poor effort, blasted across the box, by CSKA and Cornet smacks it downfield away from Vitinho.
78'
Natcho lofts a ball wide to the right for Kuchaev who loses it on the touchline to Marcal - but earns his side a corner as the Lyon man takes it out.
76'
M. Cornet enters the game and replaces B. Traoré.
Traroe is the first change for Lyon too - and Cornet takes his place. The visitors seem to have a new lease of life behind them as they press for a second goal.
74'
Natcho only finds the wall and Lyon clear what should have been a better-taken chance for the hosts.
73'
Vitinho enters the game and replaces G. Milanov.
A change for the hosts as they prepare to take this kick, with Milanov replaced by Vitinho.
72'
Now CSKA get a free-kick, only 25 yards out in front after Natcho is caught round the ankle. It'll be the midfielder to take.
70'
Tete looks to make it a quick second score, fed across the face of the Moscow box, but he lifts his shot over the crossbar and out.
68'
Marcelo has scored a goal for Lyon! Assist by M. Depay.
Lyon hit the front! The visitors earn a corner after Nababkin deflects a Depay counter from the left - and Marcelo rises to meet it at the far right post and steer it just around Akinfeev. What a hammer blow to deliver for the French side.
Depay supplied the fine, floated corner for the score there, which was met with stony silence around the VEB Arena for the most part. Moscow look stunned to have gone behind; though they have had less chances this half, they have dominated field possession.
65'
Play is back underway and Musa is gifted a wonderful ball from a throw-in into the Lyon box - only to lose it to Marcelo as he turns to try and shoot from nine yards out.
63'
It gets worse for NDembele - in a mix-up out in defence, Tete smashes the ball straight into his face with an attempt to clear a Musa half-chance down the left wing. The Lyon man requires medical attention on the sideline for his nose.
61'
Save from Akinfeev! Mariano's shot, tipped over the defensive wall and towards the bottom right corner, is a masterstroke - but so is the effort from the keeper to keep it out. He puts it into the path of NDombele - who was offside at the free-kick and CSKA are awarded the ball.
60'
Aouar earns a free-kick on the lip of the Moscow box now as he goes down, albeit softly, under pressure from Nababkin.
59'
B. Natcho gets yellow.
A second yellow card for Moscow now as Natcho is booked for a clumsy challenge in midfield on Mariano.
58'
Corner now to CSKA after the hosts exploit that poor Tousart free-kick and Wernbloom's effort takes a deflection off Morel from distance - but the hosts can't make it stick as they swing it in and Lopes clears.
57'
Free-kick in midfield to Lyon after Wernbloom is a touch too heavy-handed with a tackle on Tousart.
55'
Traore breaks with a counter for the visitors and gifts Mariano a 20-yard shot of his own from in front of goal; under pressure from Ignashevich, he pushes it wide to the left.
53'
Now Berezutski lofts a ball in from the left and Golovin wraps his foot around it to try a 20-yard shot that Lopes nearly bobbles out. Moscow are yet to perhaps truly test the Lyon keeper this half though...
51'
Lyon try to clear deep but CSKA continue to bring the ball deep into opposition territory in their return runs; Golovin is the latest to snake into the box, where Lopes clips his nudged ball back to halfway.
49'
Now Wernbloom tries a header and again, Lopes is alert to the danger, cleaning up the attack with little trouble on the lip of the six-yard area.
47'
Musa appeals for a penalty call as he comes together with Lopes, challenging for a ball chipped into the box; he is waved off by the linesman and Lyon clear.
46'
We're back underway at the VEB Arena; which side, if either, will break the deadlock?
45'
Lopes gets slowly to his feet - the keeper took a glance there - and the referee blows for half-time as he pumps the ball downfield.
43'
The referee has a word with Morel as the Lyon defender dives in his own box when Musa looks to have planted a header beyond him - but Lopes collects and deals.
41'
Free-kick now to Lyon, at the edge of their own box, as Tete is brought down in defence by Milanov.
39'
Moscow get a free-kick 25 yards out on the left and Musa gets a head to it in the box - only for it to bounce straight into the arms of Lopes.
37'
Marcal and Marcelo both clear Moscow efforts within seconds of each other as virtually all of CSKA's outfield pile towards the box, to no avail.
35'
Dzagoev now tries his luck from distance for Moscow, putting a shot on from 25 yards out - and Lopes can't take it in, spilling it wide and out for a throw-in.
34'
Corner to Lyon now as Ignashevich puts a counter-attack move to a halt by deflecting Traore's cross out. The CSKA man is first to the ball again and he clears.
32'
Kuchaev earns a throw-in for his side on halfway and Moscow spread the ball crossfield as they look to find a way past Lyon;s holding defence. Golovin eventually peels off a shot from 20 yards out; Lopes leaps to claim on his line.
30'
K. Nababkin gets yellow.
Indeed, Nababkin is booked only a moment later for a reckless barge on Marcal, the CSKA man given a yellow despite his protests.
29'
Lyon have found a fluidity they lacked earlier on that has given them a freedom to counter; Moscow currently look more on edge in defence.
27'
Kuchaev lobs a cross in for Wernbloom which he heads straight into the arms of Lopes; down the other end, Mariano slots a neat strike between two defenders that forces Akinfeev into a dive.
25'
A corner for the visitors is swiftly dealt with but suddenly Moscow are finding sterner opposition across the park.
23'
What a counter attack from Lyon! The French outfit tear downfield on the right after Traore is released and the striker just hooks his shot over the top-left corner of the box under pressure from Nababkin.
21'
Lopes eventually recovers the ball again for the French outfit after Wernbloom tamely mishandles the ball from a Musa flat pass in the box.
19'
Moscow are clearly pushing more than Lyon, with most of the last ten minutes played within touching distance of the visitors' penalty area. No way through yet though as Milanov earns a throw-in on the left.
17'
Wernbloom has a half-chance as the free-kick is swept in from the left; he tangles with Lopes though and the keeper gets the nod instead as they both go to ground.
16'
Stop from Lopes! Musa plays exactly the same move, fed the ball into the same spot in the box and this time is on target - but the keeper manages to deflect it back out into open play, where Moscow get a free-kick.
14'
What a chance that was for Musa! Fed into the Lyon box on the left, the Moscow striker puts an eight-yard tap-in wide under pressure from Lopes in goal. The hosts should be one score up right now.
12'
Now the referee stops play for a Lyon free-kick, this time as Wernbloom brings down Morel with a misplaced tackle on the back heel on halfway. The visitors are unable to press and CSKA counter instead.
10'
Tete tumbles on the edge of the Moscow box after a challenge from Natcho and looks like he might have a good claim to a free-kick; but the referee waves him away and play carries on.
8'
Down the other end, Tete tries his look from some 25 yards out and skews it wide to the right between two defenders; Akinfeev still dives to save and keeps it from going out of play.
7'
Golovin finds himself with space to spare on the right edge of the Lyon box - but in trying to turn it across to Wernbloom, he loses the edge and the ball is ferried away from him.
5'
Now Traore earns a free-kick, 25 yards out on the right wing in line with the CSKA box. Lyon turn it in - and Ignashevich puts it into midfield with a solid right foot.
3'
An early free-kick to CSKA for a Lyon foul, committed by Morel. It's a solid cross from 40 yards out on the right into the box; Musa is pinged for offside however and the chance goes begging.

We're underway in this round of 16 UEFA Europa League clash! Moscow press the first attack, heading left down the wing through Milanov but Lyon recover possession through Tete and clear.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the UEFA Europa League round of 16, as Russia’s CSKA Moscow host France’s Lyon in a first-leg tie at the VEB Arena. The hosts are looking to give themselves more comfortable passage through to the quarter-finals than they did to this stage, after a 1-0 aggregate win over Red Star Belgrade; the visitors however are hunting for key advantage in their opposition’s back yard before the return fixture a week today. Who will come up with the spoils in Khodynka Field? Kick-off is on the way.
Lyon are looking to overturn a poor run of form, having been dumped out of the Coupe de France in recent weeks to increase their winless streak to three. They have never won a game before in Russia either – and against a Moscow side buoyed by a weekend victory over Ural, they may face a tougher-than-expected test if they wish to follow up their easy progression from the round of 32 against Villarreal.
Neither side are the sole representative of their country in the round of 16 this evening; indeed, CSKA are one of three Russian sides still in contention for the Europa League, alongside cross-city rivals Lokomotiv Moscow and Zenit Saint Petersburg, whilst Lyon are accompanied by Marseille at this stage. None of the other sides face respective national opposition, matched against Spanish and German sides instead – so both could theoretically have sides still flying the flag come the quarter-finals.
Should Lyon progress, they will be one step closer to reaching the final – and a home final at that. Their stadium, Parc Olympique Lyonnais, will host the showpiece event of the 2017-18 Europa League; the last time a side had home advantage in a final was back in the 2001-02 UEFA Cup, when Dutch outfit Feyenoord triumphed 3-2 against Borussia Dortmund in front of a home crowd of 45,611 at De Kuip.
Speaking of finals, no French side has ever won the Europa League or UEFA Cup in the history of the competition; Marseille have lost twice whilst Bastia and Bordeaux have been defeated once apiece. Lyon have never made it to the last stage of the competition; conversely, CSKA won in 2005, in their only appearance, defeating Sporting CP in their own home ground of the Estadio Jose Alvalade 3-1.
The teams are out and we're moments away from kick-off at a sparsely populated VEB Arena.
It's all square without a goal at the break in Russia as Moscow fail to breach a initially lackluster Lyon side who found their groove as the game has wound on. Ahmed Musa is the man with the best chances so far but unable to convert any, his side remain on level pegging; at half-time, it's CSKA Moscow 0-0 Lyon.
A Marcelo header arguably against the run of play gives Lyon the win in Russia for the very first time - and a vital away goal to take away to the second leg next week of what was a rather low-quality Europa League round of 16 encounter. CSKA will be frustrated to have not come away with at least a draw - and now they face a tall order to progress at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, Full-time, it finishes CSKA Moscow 0-1 Lyon.
The reverse comes one week today in France as Lyon look to reach a maiden Europa League final - but can Moscow pull off a shock to overturn tonight's defeat and inflict a little bit of revenge? Until then, thank you for joining us - and have a good week!
