We're underway at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are in control of the match following their 3-0 triumph over the Italian outfit in the first leg. Cristiano Ronaldo's spectacular overhead kick was the highlight of the victory, but Zinedine Zidane's men continued their surge for a third Champions League crown on the bounce with another accomplished performance on the continent. Another display of that ilk will see them through to the last four of the competition.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash between Real Madrid and Juventus at the Bernabeu.
The Spanish outfit were off colour at the weekend in the Madrid derby, failing to find top form against their rivals Atletico Madrid. Ronaldo put them ahead, only for Antoine Griezmann to equalise. Diego Simeone's men could have snatched the three points, which will give Juve confidence heading into the clash this evening along with Roma's improbable result against Barcelona last night.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
REAL MADRID (4-3-1-2): Keylor Navas; Daniel Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Jesus Vallejo, Marcelo; Luka Modric, Casemiro, Toni Kroos; Isco; Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real Madrid subs: Karim Benzema, Kiko Casilla, Theo Hernandez, Lucas Vazquez, Marcos Llorente, Marco Asensio, Mateo Kovacic.
JUVENTUS (4-3-3): Gianluigi Buffon; Mattia De Sciglio; Mehdi Benatia, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi; Douglas Costa, Gonzalo Higuain, Mario Mandzukic.
Juventus subs: Juan Cuadrado, Claudio Marchisio, Kwadwo Asamoah, Wojciech Szczesny, Daniele Rugani, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Stefano Sturaro.
With Sergio Ramos suspended and Nacho out due to injury, Zidane turns to Vallejo in the middle of the defence to partner Varane. The 21-year-old has made eight appearances for Madrid in all competitions this season, none of which have come in the Champions League. The Spaniard was dismissed in a Copa del Rey clash against Fuenlabrada in October.
Massimiliano Allegri's men bounced back from their defeat at the hands of Madrid with a victory over Benevento. It was far from a convincing win for Juve, but a hat-trick from Paulo Dybala along with an effort from Douglas Costa secured the three points over Serie A's basement team. Allegri will know that his side will have to be flawless this evening to advance.
Vallejo is one of four changes made by Zidane from his side's draw with Atletico. Casemiro, Modric and Isco also come back into the fold after starting the derby on the bench.
STAT! Real Madrid have only failed to win/progress from one of their 32 previous European knockout games in which they won the first leg away from home, losing out to Odense Boldklub in the 1994-95 UEFA Cup (won 3-2 away, lost 0-2 at home).
Juve have made six changes from their win over Benevento at the weekend. Buffon, De Sciglio, Chiellini, Khedira, Costa and Higuain all come back into the fold. Dybala misses out due to suspension.
HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-2 JUVENTUS
Real Madrid are in danger of following their rivals Barcelona out of the Champions League unless they can stop Juventus' onslaught in the second half. A brace from Mario Mandzukic has brought the Italian outfit within a goal of erasing Madrid's lead in the tie. The veteran forward scored in the second minute with a powerful header at the back post. Mandzukic notched his second with almost a carbon copy once again, directing a header into the net after beating Daniel Carvajal in the air. The reigning champions have had moments in the final third, but Juve are doing enough to thwart them. Without Sergio Ramos' presence at the back, Madrid look shaky to say the least.
FULL-TIME: REAL MADRID (4) 1-3 (3) JUVENTUS
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
It's fair to say Michael Oliver will not be welcome in Turin any time in the near future. The referee became the central figure of an outstanding match as Juventus appeared to be on course for one of the greatest comebacks in Champions League history. A brace from Mario Mandzukic in the first half put them on their way before an error from Keylor Navas allowed Blaise Matuidi to level the tie. The contest appeared to be heading towards extra-time, but then came the moment as Cristiano Ronaldo headed the ball back across the face of goal. Lucas Vazquez went down under pressure from Mehdi Benatia and after a brief pause Oliver pointed to the spot. Juventus erupted in anger with Gianluigi Buffon leading the charge. The veteran keeper went overboard with his protests, screaming in Oliver's face. He was given a straight red card - his final act in the Champions League. Ronaldo still had to score from 12 yards, with the pressure of the occasion and Wojciech Szczesny between the sticks. However, the Portuguese held his nerve to fire into the net and send his side through to the last four of the competition.
