Wales, on the back of their first defeat under Giggs, now have a month to collect themselves before tackling Spain in a friendly next month. After a turbulent week, Denmark will be pleased to have secured the win and will host the Republic of Ireland next time out in their second Nations League clash.
Denmark certainly deserve their victory and move level on points with Wales at the top of Group B in League B, although they have played one game less than Ryan Giggs' side. Christian Eriksen was the decider with a superbly taken brace, while Wales struggled to create opportunities throughout.
Wales have looked good at times but need to improve their creativity in the final third to test Schmeichel, while Denmark will want Eriksen to continue to pop up in dangerous areas as, once again, he has proven himself to be by far the best player in their ranks.
Not too much to separate the two sides at the break as both Denmark and Wales have struggled to create opportunities. Eriksen took his chance when it came though, tucking home with the match's only shot on target to hand the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
Both sides are on the field and the national anthems have begun.
Ryan Giggs makes two changes to the side that eased past the Republic of Ireland a few days ago, with Gunter and Chester coming into the side. Ashley Williams is rested, with Bale taking the captain's armband as a result, while Brooks drops to the bench.
Denmark, unsurprisingly, make 11 changes from the 3-0 defeat to Slovakia and eight of the starting XI for this game started the World Cup Round of 16 defeat to Croatia. Coach Age Hareide, who also missed the midweek loss, has named a very strong squad that includes a number of household names.
Wales subs: Danny Ward, Adam Davies, Joe Ledley, Ben Woodburn, Tyler Roberts, Sam Vokes, David Brooks, Harry Wilson, Tom Lockyer, Paul Dummett, Andy King, Matthew Smith.
Denmark subs: Frederik Ronnow, Jonas Lossl, Andreas Christensen, Anders Christiansen, Viktor Fischer, Lukas Lerager, Jonas Knudsen, Mike Jensen, Andreas Cornelius, Nicolai Boilesen, Christian Norgaard, Jannik Vestergaard.
Wales XI: Wayne Hennessey; Chris Gunter, James Chester, Chris Mepham, Ben Davies; Joe Allen, Ethan Ampadu; Tom Lawrence, Aaron Ramsey, Connor Roberts; Gareth Bale.
Denmark XI: Kasper Schmeichel; Henrik Dalsgaard, Matias Jorgensen, Simon Kjaer, Jens Stryger Larsen; Christian Eriksen, Lasse Schone, Thomas Delaney; Yussuf Poulsen, Martin Braithwaite, Pione Sisto.
Meanwhile, Wales began their Nations League campaign with a 4-1 victory over the Republic of Ireland but their preparations for today's game have hit some issues after their plane from Cardiff was delayed due to techincal faults.
After fielding a team of amateurs for the 3-0 friendly defeat to Slovakia in midweek, Denmark are back to full strength after the playing contingent and the nation's governing body agreed to talks to settle a commercial dispute.
