End-to-end stuff now as Memphis pushes Lyon on the counter-attack! He drives in from the right, plays the ball to Fekir who has his back to goal. The latter tries to play it back to the Dutchman... but it's put behind for a corner by a Shakhtar defender. Can either side grab the winner?
90' +1
Fernando enters the game and replaces Marlos.
Fernando replaces Marlos in the midfield.
90'
There will be three minutes of added time.
SHOT! Marlos chips a backheel to Kayode who shoots... and his effort crashes off the crossbar! How unlucky was that?!
88'
Things open up for Fekir who rolled in a shot from just outside of the box, but it drifts left of the target. It certainly feels like there could be a goal at the death here!
87'
Pape Cheikh enters the game and replaces T. Ndombélé.
This match won't be going onto NDombele's highlight reel as he's replaced by Diop.
85'
Now it's Shakhtar on the counter-attack! They build through the middle again with the aim of passing forward to Kayode, but the substitute was offside which killed the momentum of the move.
83'
O. Kayode enters the game and replaces Júnior Moraes.
Moraes was on the hat-trick but is removed in favour of Kayode nonetheless.
81'
M. Cornet enters the game and replaces M. Dembélé.
Cornet, who scored the winner against Manchester City, will be replacing Dembele who scored today but struggled with decision making all match.
80'
It certainly does not seem like a coincidence that Lyon were finally able to pick the lock once Depay was brought on.
Minute
Description
79'
Depay plays Dembele into a perfect shooting position in the box! The latter aims below Pyatov, but the 'keeper manages to get something on it and the ball deflects wide for a corner. The ex-Celtic man had to do better there!
77'
Chance for Ismaily! He beat the backline with pace and tried his luck from an acute angle, but the ball never really settled for him and he skied his effort!
75'
V. Kovalenko enters the game and replaces Alan Patrick.
Patrick was brilliant at times in the first half but is recalled with Kovalenko entering the fray in his stead.
72'
L. Dubois has scored a goal for Lyon! Assist by H. Aouar.
It really was a stretch of nightmare play for Krvistov who failed to clear the ball then, when it was sent back in, he lost track of Aouar who played a square ball to Dubois on the run. You can't make mistakes like that at this level and not expect to be punished!
GOOALLLLL!!!! Sloppy play in defence by Shakhtar leads to Aouar pouncing on the ball in the box and passing it towards Dubois who powered it home to bring his side level! Lyon 2-2 Shakhtar.
70'
M. Dembélé has scored a goal for Lyon! Assist by N. Fekir.
Fekir found space on the left-wing before sending in a perfectly weighted ball that only Dembele could climb to!
GOALLLL!!!! The pressure was building and now they've gotten a goal back! Fekir lifted in a cross from the left and Dembele rose above his defender and headed it in! Can they go on and find an equaliser? Lyon 1-2 Shakhtar.
68'
They don't score but someone in the throng did manage a snap shot at goal, Pyatov rose to the chalenge though and kept it out!
67'
Memphis draws a free-kick in a dangerous position. He can do magic from positions like this, can Lyon get on the scoresheet?
63'
M. Depay enters the game and replaces B. Traoré.
Traore failed to make much of an impact on this match and is now withdrawn for Memphis Depay.
60'
Lyon are pressing forward to try and find a goal but, of course, this could just open up even more space for the potent Shakhtar defence.
55'
Júnior Moraes has scored a goal for Shakhtar Donetsk! Assist by Alan Patrick.
Marlos went on a lovely run down the right wing, played it over to Patrick who controlled the ball well and slotted in Moraes! Lovely play that!
GOALLLL!!!! MORAES ABSOLUTELY AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY! He seemed to have lost all momentum, but Patrick found him in the box, and the striker coolly curled the ball into the bottom right-hand corner! Lyon 0 - 2 Shakhtar.
54'
Now Demebele sweeps what looked a lovely cross-field ball towards Bertrand, it's just too heavy though and rolls away faster than the Chelsea loanee could run it down.
52'
THE BALL IS IN THE NET.... but Aouar was offside! It looked like Denayer's effort was good enough to carry the ball over the line, but the winger smacked it home, only to see the flag raised and the goal ruled out.
51'
Sustained pressure from Lyon now as they've had multiple set pieces over the past couple of minutes! Yet to find the back of the net though obviously.
49'
Lyon have come out looking an entirely different team than they were in the first half! Dembele gets played through the left channel, passes it in towards Fekir, but Pyatov is forced into action and puts the ball behind for Lyon's first corner of the match!
46'
N. Fekir gets yellow.
Fekir goes up with Pyatov and seems to have fouled the 'keeper in the process as the Frenchman is shown yellow.
45' +1
HALF TIME: Lyon 0- 1 Shakhtar
44'
Júnior Moraes has scored a goal for Shakhtar Donetsk! Assist by Ismaily.
GOOOALLLL!!!! AND THERE IT IS! Moraes hits his shot first time and beats Lopes at the near post! Right before the half as well! Ismaily could have easily whipped in a cross to the far post, but wisely chose to cut it back to the striker! Lyon 0-1 Shakhtar.
Ismaily was played in behind the backline and pulled the ball back Moraes who finished the chance beautifully!
43'
You hate to stereotype, but some of the touches and passes from Shakhtar's Brazilians have been absolutely sublime! It seems they can do what they want when they want though the goal has yet to come.
41'
Dubois sends in a cross from the right wing, it deflects up into the air and Fekir rises to head it.... but his effort lacks pace and bounces wide left of goal.
38'
Traore and Dubois both show off some skill down the right wing, with the latter passing the ball into Fekir who can't control it and the move goes.
35'
It's all back-and-forth in the midfield over the past few minutes, which represents an improvement from Lyon who were struggling to keep pace with the visitors.
33'
Denayer goes on a surging, adventurous run from his centre back position and lays it off to Aouar who dribbles into traffic and is dispossessed. The Belgian defender will need to hurry back now!
31'
Fantastic counter-attack from the Ukranian side ends in a free shot from Marlos in the box... but Lopes makes a lovely diving save to keep the match level!
28'
Denayer went in hard on Moraes and is called for the foul but escapes further punishment.
26'
Lyon came out as the better side in the opening 15 minutes, but it's been all Shakhtar since!
23'
Ismaily goes on a lovely run down the left wing before he runs out of pitch and is forced to pass the ball back, killing the momentum of the move.
21'
Shakthar on the counter, and the ball is passed centrally to Moraes who took a swerving shot from distance and Lopes JUST gets his glove on it! Already some great saves from each 'keeper in the early stages!
19'
Now Maycon gets to the byline and shoots! His effort is wide though and a pass to Moraes would have definitely been the better choice.
18'
Shakhtar are starting to grow into the match more as Matyvenko cuts up the right wing and tries to play Maycon in, but the pass is overcooked and goes behind for a goal kick.
16'
A lovely one-two is played by Patrick and Taison that led to a shot by the latter that is directed straight at Lopes. It was taken from outside the box
13'
Fekir tries his luck from range, but his effort flies over Pyatov's goal. You'd have expected the Frenchman to do better there.
11'
Dembele gets played in behind the defence! The run was perfectly timed, he's one-on-one with Pyatov outside the box.... and the goalkeeper saves it! The striker should have done better, but it was a fantastic reflex save from the Shakhtar man!
9'
Marcelo involved again, this time fouling fellow countryman Moraes just outside of the box. Patrick to take.
5'
Marcelo tries to find Bertrand Traore with a through ball... but the winger was offside! He went just too early there!
2'
For those unaware, Lyon have been punished for fan trouble during their Europa League match against CSKA Moscow in March. It makes for quite an eerie atmosphere!
1'
Referee Andris Treimanis blows his whistle We're underway from an empty Stade des Lumieres!
CHANCE! Fekir takes a shot inside the box and it bounces right to the feet of Depay who can't beat Pyatov! Another chance for the winner goes begging for the hosts!
Maycon powers an effort from the top of the box... that was always rising and failed to trouble Lopes. It looked dangerous coming off his foot, mind!
Hello, and welcome to our live commentary of this Champions League clash between Lyon and Shakhtar Donetsk!
Today's match should be a fascinating one as, not only are both sides competing to make it out of the group, but it's also the first time Lyon and Shakhtar have ever faced each other!
Now let's take a look at the players who will be involved in this match!
Lyon (4-2-3-1): Anthony Lopes; Leo Dubois, Marcelo, Jason Denayer, Ferland Mendy; Lucas Tousart, Tanguy NDombele; Bertrand Traore, Nabil Fekir, Houssem Aouar; Moussa Dembele.
Lyon subs: Mathieu Gorgelin, Jeremy Morel, Marcal, Jordan Ferri, Pape Cheikh Diop, Maxwell Cornet, Memphis Depay.
Cornet and Depay will surely be disappointed to only make the bench having both contributed significantly in the 2-1 win against Manchester City in the first round. Traore could play a big role today for Lyon today though as he currently leads the club in goals (4) and shot accuracy (50%) in Ligue 1!
We have a couple of weird trends heading into this match as Lyon have won just one of their last eight home matches in the Champions League, while Shakhtar have won just once in their last nine away matches in this competition. It's like when the stoppable force meets the moveable object. Which side, if any, will come out on top?
The hosts started well but will surely be disappointed with their first-half performance on the whole. After Dembele's early chance Lyon have managed just one shot on target which is simply not enough to pin Shakhtar back. Ndombele is a fantastic talent, but he's getting passed around with ease by the opposition who have predominantly created their moves through the middle of the pitch. Let's see what tactical changes or substitutions Bruno Genesio makes but, if things stay as they are, they would be more likely to concede more goals than score them.
Shakhtar's performance was a strong and steady crescendo straight through the goal scored just before the half-time whistle. They have been comprehensively the better team thus far boasting advantages in shots on target, passes, pass accuracy, possession, and.... scoring. The midfield three of Marlos, Patrick, and Taison have consistently built attacks with both passing and pace and there has been no answer from Lyon thus far. Ismaily has been fantastic as well offering plenty of attack directly, including the assist, but also passively as his hugging of the touchline has opened up more space centrally. Manager Paulo Fonseca may be worried about their defence which has been shaky in the past, but everything's looking rosy for Shakhtar at the moment.
We're back underway from the Stade des Lumieres, where it seems some fans have managed to sneak in!
We mentioned that the only thing that could undo all of Shakhtar's hard work in the first half would be their suspect defence, and sure enough, they were let down in the end. They play truly beautiful football at times but simply cannot expect to make it far in the Champions League if they keep conceding and allowing teams back into matches that already should have been won. Moraes' thoughts will now likely be on his skied effort that could have won his side all three points rather than his brace which ensured them one.
That will do it for our live coverage of Lyon v Shakhtar Donetsk! We hope you enjoyed following along with us and will do so again soon!
This match was the prototypical example of a "match of two halves". After being outplayed in the first half, Lyon came out of the tunnel the better team and kept it up right until the final whistle. Depay had about as much influence as you can without scoring, providing the penultimate ball for both goals. The defence was still shaky, but the midfield did a much better job of slowing down and controlling play which gave them a launch pad for their consistent barrage in the latter stages of the match. This draw will likely feel like a win for Lyon.
