No joy from the resulting corner for Lokomotiv, as Schalke win a goal kick and you can guarantee they will take their time!
90' +2
The home side are having a go! They've launched one final attack and won a corner after great defensive work from Naldo yet again, a certain contender for man of the match.
90'
Four minutes of added time for Lokomotiv to throw everything at Schalke in search of an equaliser.
89'
You have to feel for Lokomotiv, despite fading in the second half many would still argue they deserve a point here after a solid all round display. Such a shame for the Russian side they've leaked a late goal, qualification looks seriously difficult from this point.
88'
W. McKennie has scored a goal for Schalke 04! Assist by Y. Konoplanka.
We mentioned Konoplyanka's involvement would be vital for Schalke in the second half, his cross from the corner was right on the money!
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! We finally have a goal. Jubilation for the away side as McKennie nods home from the corner!
87'
Are Lokomotiv heading for a third Champions League game in a row without scoring a goal? Less than five minutes remaining now and we are still waiting for the home side to produce a shot on target in the second half.
84'
Yet again, Schalke look to construct an attack from the left side. Yet again, defensive solidity prevents a chance on goal.
83'
R. Zhemaletdinov enters the game and replaces Aleksey Miranchuk.
Another Lokomotiv substitution as Aleksey Miranchuk departs and Zhemaletdinov enters.
81'
Schalke are pushing their team high up the pitch here, looking to pressure Lokomotiv into making a mistake and keeping them boxed in their own half, however Lokomotiv have looked their most dangerous on the counter. Will either side get one big chance before the final whistle?
Minute
Description
79'
Lokomotiv outpassed their opposition in the first half, won more duels and edged the possession, this half everything is reversed in Schalke's favour! With just over 10 minutes remaining it seems a draw would be the fair result here.
77'
Lokomotiv's attacking threat has deteriorated in the second half, they have failed to muster a single shot on target thus far.
75'
Time is ticking here, a goalless draw looks likely unless either side decides to take some risks!
72'
I. Denisov enters the game and replaces Anton Miranchuk.
G. Burgstaller enters the game and replaces B. Embolo.
Final change for Schalke, youngster Embolo leaves the pitch to be replaced by Burgstaller.
Substitution for Lokomotiv, as Anton Miranchuk swaps out for Denisov.
71'
Irrespective of the result, it's safe to say Schalke have improved on the ball in the second half, as evidenced by their 84 percent passing accuracy since the 45th minute, compared to 77 percent in the first half.
70'
Wow! Panic stations for Lokomotiv as Guilherme flaps around an aerial ball and fails to collect, thankfully for him the ball ended up with a Schalke player!
68'
Schalke seem to be building momentum slowly, most of their attacks are arising on the left-hand side with Konoplyanka's increasing involvement.
66'
Are Schalke growing tired of Lokomotiv's defensive rigidity? This time Sane attempts from range, firing way over the bar. He never looked like scoring!
65'
Bentaleb gets involved for Schalke on the attack, his powerful left-footed shot from range is comfortably wide though.
61'
Konoplyanka picks the ball up on the left wing, cutting inside whilst continuously faking to shoot. Eventually he finds a gap and releases the shot, it doesn't have the required velocity or accuracy though and is collected by Guilherme with ease.
59'
Brief stoppage here, as Howedes picks up a knock and requires some physio attention.
57'
The possession stats truly reflect the ongoings of this match, both sides are even with 50 percent each as we head towards the hour mark and we don't seem any closer to a goal, deadlock!
55'
N. Bentaleb enters the game and replaces S. Rudy.
Second change for Schalke, as Rudy is replaced by former Tottenham man Bentaleb.
54'
This time, Idowu is unable to prevent an attack down the right and a low cross finds a way into the penalty area. Ignatyev's clearance almost creeps into his own goal, but ends up out for a corner!
52'
W. McKennie gets yellow.
McKennie picks up a yellow, he's had a difficult night so far giving away the ball a staggering 15 times.
51'
Idowu's performance has been solid so far, this time his tackle ends the attack on the right-wing and wins his side a throw-in.
50'
Strange decision from Lokomotiv to play a short corner, in a game starved of opportunities surely a punt into the box is worthwhile? Eventually the corner comes to nothing and Schalke regain possession.
48'
Since arriving on the pitch, Serdar has already given up possession twice. His manager will be looking for a more refined approach from the midfielder as the half continues.
46'
S. Serdar enters the game and replaces Omar Mascarell.
Half-time change for Schalke as Mascarell makes way for Serdar, presumably the main factor in the decision is the yellow card to his name.
We're underway for the second half, a fairly quiet start here with some scrappy possession.
45' +2
Luckily for Ignatyev, Guilherme punches the cross away and the referee subsequently blows his whistle for half-time.
45' +1
V. Ignatyev gets yellow.
Poor decision making from Ignatyev as his clumsy foul late in the first-half gives Schalke one final scoring opportunity, he also picks up a booking. The set-piece will be taken from the left-hand side of the penalty area from a crossing position.
45'
Two minutes added on for stoppage time!
43'
S. Kvirkvelia gets yellow.
Kverkvelia picks up a yellow for a tackle with excessive force.
42'
Lokomotiv continue to encourage their fans, Fernandes makes a penetrating run down the left wing, beating a few men and chipping one into the area. Fahrmann's punch landed at the feet of Barinov who mishit his effort!
40'
Just for a moment there it looked as if Lokomotiv were destined to score! Not for the first time, the home side broke into the box and looked to offload a shot, but Schalke's defenders continue to put their body on the line to protect the clean sheet!
37'
Chance for Schalke as Embolo cuts in from the right wing to pick out his colleague in the box, once again Lokomotiv defend well and prevent any serious threat, brave block from Idowu.
33'
Although Schalke have looked composed in possession in their own half, Lokomotiv are applying serious pressure when the away side look to attack, creating counter attacking opportunities which look increasingly dangerous as the game goes on!
31'
BIG penalty claim for Lokomotiv, as Barinov takes a tumble in the box. On second viewing it seems the referee has made the correct decision to wave the appeals away.
29'
Sane has been the most productive passer of the ball for Schalke in the opening half hour, with 20 passes in total and over 90 percent success rate.
27'
CHANCE! Lokomotiv finally manage to trouble Fahrmann, he dives to his right to make a save. Lokomotiv looked to get another shot off from the rebound, but Sane made an excellent block.
24'
Once again, Lokomotiv look promising in possession but Schalke's defensive guard demonstrates good resistance to prevent any space in the penalty area to create a chance. Naldo in particular has looked extremely commanding at the back so far.
21'
Over 20 minutes gone now, without a great deal of chances to discuss. Both teams look rigid and organised in defence and the main priority for each side seems to be not to concede first! Can someone break the deadlock before half-time?
19'
B. Höwedes gets yellow.
Howedes has also picked up a booking, his tackle out in the left-back area was deemed to be dangerous as his foot was too high.
18'
Omar Mascarell gets yellow.
Mascarell earns himself an early yellow for a late challenge.
17'
Corner for Schalke, way too close to Guilherme and caught with ease. Lokomotiv look to counter from the resulting move, only to be stopped by a fairly cynical foul.
13'
Lokomitv manage to string a few passes together, moving the ball from right to left but unfortunately they failed to challenge Fahrmann in goal for Schalke.
11'
We are now over 10 minutes into the game, neither side has managed to establish dominance and we are yet to have a clear cut chance. Schalke seem to be growing into the game, they have also won over 63% of duels in the match so far.
8'
Brief moment of panic for the home side, as Guilherme's throw out is intercepted about 30 yards from goal. Schalke were unable to make anything from the resulting attack, but warning signs for Lokomotiv!
6'
A couple of injuries in the early stages has led to a disjointed opening five minutes, Lokomotiv have now won a corner so will look to attack from here.
3'
Lokomotiv seem to be attempting a high pace passing game when they are on the ball, so far each player has looked to offload quickly and maintain possession, with some impressive concise passing. Schalke seem slightly more relaxed on the ball in the early stages.
1'
We're off! Nothing major to report in the opening minute, the ball has mostly been in Schalke's half but without any serious danger for the away side.

Today's fixture in Group D of the Champions League will determine who ends up bottom of the table after matchday two. Schalke managed a point in their first match against Porto, whereas Lokomotiv suffered a defeat in their previous match versus Galatasaray. Lokomotiv coach, Yuri Semin will be desperate to grab all three points and rise above Schalke, whereas Domenico Tedesco and his side come will no doubt come in search of a win too.
So far this season, Lokomotiv's league form has been somewhat erratic, with three wins, three draws and three losses so far. Schalke picked up a win against Mainz this weekend after a five game consecutive losing streak in domestic competition. A win for either side would do wonders for confidence, not to mention the group standings so plenty to play for here!
Kick-off is just moments away! This will be the first ever meeting in European competition between Lokomotiv Moscow and FC Schalke 04, let's hope for an exciting match!
We've reached the halfway point this evening, despite the game remaining goalless we have a thoroughly interesting tactical battle on our hands at the RZD Arena. Lokomotiv have looked menacing on the counter attack and created more opportunites, whereas Schalke will be relying on players such as Embolo and Konoplyanka to step it up in the second half and contribute a little more.
Lokomotiv will have to tread carefully from a disciplinary standpoint in the second half, three of their back four have picked up a booking in the first half! Schalke have just the one yellow picked up by Mascarell. Second half coverage to follow!
A late goal from McKennie steals the show for the travelling Germans! Lokomotiv will certainly feel hard done by here but they seriously lacked creativity throughout, especially in the second half. As the game went on, they dropped deeper allowing Schalke to build momentum and eventually impose the cruellest of punishments!
Lokomotiv will stay bottom of the group table regardless of other results tonight, Schalke go top with four points and will be hoping for a draw between Porto and Galatasaray so they can retain their position! Thanks for reading our LIVE text commentary, catch you next time!
