Hello, and welcome to our live coverage of this Premier League match between Huddersfield Town and Liverpool!
Liverpool certainly have history on their side in this matchup, having gone unbeaten in their previous 12 matches against Huddersfield (W9, D3)!
Let's take a look at the players who will be involved in today's match!
Huddersfield (3-5-1-1): Jonas Lossl; Matthias Jorgensen, Christopher Schindler, Chris Lowe; Florent Hadergjonaj, Aaron Mooy, Jonathan Hogg, Philip Billing, Erik Durm; Alex Pritchard; Laurent Depoitre.
Huddersfield subs: Ben Hamer, Isaac Mbenza, Rajiv van La Parra, Steve Mounie, Juninho Bacuna, Jon Gorenc Stankovic, Adama Diakhaby.
Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson; Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Andrew Robertson; James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana; Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge, Xherdan Shaqiri.
Liverpool subs: Simon Mignolet, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi.
The sides are coming out of the tunnel! Not long to go now!
The hosts have given an excellent account of themselves thus far having matched Liverpool shot-for-shot (four each). Depoitre’s physicality and movement continues to cause issues for Liverpool at the back while Billing and Pritchard have done well to offer him support. That being said, this is not the first time that Huddersfield have played well in the first half of a Premier League match this season… but they’ll need a pair of goals if they want to pick up their first win of the season.
Liverpool obviously head into half time with the lead but, that aside, have done little to separate themselves from Huddersfield thus far. Salah has largely been uninvolved with his only shot winding up in the back of the net. While this XI can likely ensure a result today, Klopp may have to look to regular first-teamers Firmino and Wijnaldum to ensure a win.
Huddersfield had their moments in this match but, as has happened so often, came up short. You simply cannot win matches without scoring goals and there has been no evidence that anyone in this squad can score enough to keep them up. For all of the hard work done by Depoitre, it all means nothing if you fail to bulge the net or pick up any points. The midfield and defence both played relatively well, but that will be little consolation for a team that is tumbling towards likely relegation.
That will do it for our live coverage of this match between Huddersfield Town and Liverpool! We hope you enjoyed following along and will join us again soon!
It was certainly not an inspiring performance from Liverpool but they will certainly be happy to have picked up the win, especially as they were able to offer at least some rest for key players. The defence did well to contain Depoitre in the second half after the striker posed problems early in the match, but it's hard to tell whether it was their performance or Huddersfield's ineptitude in front of goal that led to the clean sheet. The best news from this match is surely that Salah both scored and looked sharp in the second half which will certainly be needed if they are to remain title contenders in the Premier League.
