We're underway at Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford for only the second time since his departure from United in 2009. The Portuguese previously returned with Real Madrid to help guide the Spanish outfit to a 2-1 win over his former club in 2013 and will be looking for similar success tonight with Juventus. Massimiliano Allegri’s men have enjoyed a strong start to their Champions League campaign, winning both of their matches against Valencia and Young Boys, although their 100% record in Serie A was ended at the weekend by Genoa. United have taken four points from their opening two matches in their Group H matches, beating Young Boys and drawing against Valencia last time out. Jose Mourinho’s side come into the game off a decent performance on the road at Chelsea, although Ross Barkley’s last-minute strike denied them the three points at Stamford Bridge.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League clash between Manchester United and Juventus at Old Trafford.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba; Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial; Romelu Lukaku.
SUBS: Eric Bailly, Andreas Pereira, Fred, Ander Herrera, Sergio Romero, Matteo Darmian, Tahith Chong.
JUVENTUS (4-3-3): Wojciech Szczesny; Joao Cancelo, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Rodrigo Bentancur, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi; Juan Cuadrado, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala.
Manchester United are unchanged from their draw against Chelsea, although Alexis Sanchez is missing from the bench after sustaining a knock. There is not a lot of attacking depth for Mourinho behind his front three this evening.
Juve have made two changes from their draw against Genoa at the weekend. Chiellini comes back into the fold after sitting out the contest on Saturday as Benatia drops to the bench. Mandzukic is sidelined due to injury and is replaced in the line-up by Dybala, while Ronaldo spearheads the attack on his return to Old Trafford.
SUBS: Mattia De Sciglio, Mattia Perin, Medhi Benatia, Douglas Costa, Andrea Barzagli, Moise Kean, Federico Bernardeschi.
The players are making their way out on to the pitch so we should be underway shortly.
Paulo Dybala's strike has handed Juventus a 1-0 lead at half-time against Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Italian side went ahead in the 17th minute after Cristiano Ronaldo's cross was worked into the path of Dybala by Juan Cuadrado, allowing the Argentine to slot the ball home. Massimiliano Allegri's men could have been further ahead, although Ronaldo, Joao Cancelo and Blaise Matuidi were all denied by David de Gea. At the other end of the pitch, the home side offered next to nothing in terms of an attacking threat.
Jose Mourinho needs another inspirational team-talk to get his side back into the game. They've come from behind twice in their last two matches to earn points, but they've barely laid a glove on Juventus in the first half. The Red Devils do not have a lot of options on the bench, making life even harder on the players currently out on the pitch.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
The two teams play each other in the next round of Champions League Group H matches in the reverse fixture in Turin. United face Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League at the weekend, while Juve play Empoli on the road.
