Here we go Australia versus Lebanon underway at ANZ Stadium, the home team get the ball rolling in this one. Rhyan Grant at right back with his debut in a new look eleven for the Australians.
Welcome to ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Australia for the international friendly between Australia and Lebanon. Only one other ever meeting between these two countries came in 2012 with the Socceroos prevailing 3-0.
Lebanon certainly won't be playing for fun tonight, they are coming off a run of being goalless in their last three internationals, they last time the went longer was four games back in 2013, so they will certainly be looking to rattle the back of the net tonight.
Not far away from a kick off in this international friendly on what has been a beautiful Sydney day, cooling down this evening but still perfect conditions at ANZ Stadium. Plenty of Lebanon fans here tonight too to support the away team.
HALF TIME - Australia 2 Lebanon 0.
Australia dominated the first half both in possession and territory gained as Lebanon sat back and waited for counter attacks. Martin Boyle a fresh face into this Australian line up and how good has the Scottish born Aussie been, he is having a wonderful night in his adopted country with a brace at the break.
Second half to come, when do we see Tim Cahill? I would suggest if Tomi Juric can't provide a spark in the first fifteen minutes or so of the second half, we might get to see a solid final hit out for the legend.
One change for the Aussies Vukovic replaces Ryan in goal which was always the plan at the break.
Australia take a 3-0 victory but Lebanon did well to fight it right out to the end. Martin Boyle with a fantastic first starting appearance for Australia, starring with a brace and an assist. We farewelled Tim Cahill in the last ten minutes and also saw a showcase of young stars start their careers for the Socceroos. Lots of work to do for Graham Arnold and the boys yet, but a good hit out and a solid 3-0 victory over Lebanon.
Australia will now switch focus to the Asian Cup, where they face Jordan in their opening fixture on January 6. Lebanon's own campaign starts against World Cup 2022 hosts Qatar.
That's all for this evening, until next time, goodbye!
In that one previous meeting in 2012 one man by the name of Tim Cahill scored the first goal in the 20th minute, can Tim do it again tonight? Much of the night will focus on him as he plays his last international for Australia, appearance number appearance tonight. Good luck to the legend, more on him as the night unfolds.
Graham Arnold certainly is focused on a win in tonight's game, thus again we will Cahill in his last appearance start as a reserve. Surely some decent minutes tonight for the Socceroos greatest ever player some would say, certainly the highest scoring with 50 international goals. Pure class most of those!
