We're underway at Allianz Stadium.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League clash between Juventus and Valencia at Allianz Stadium.
It's all to play for in Group G after Juventus failed to wrap up the group last time out, suffering a late 2-1 defeat to Manchester United. The Bianconeri could have secured their place in the next phase of the competition with a point, but have left themselves exposed to a potential shock. Valencia have to take all three points to have a realistic chance of advancing into the last 16. They defeated Young Boys last time out to pull within two points of United and four within Juve, putting the spotlight on them this evening to pull off a positive result.
JUVENTUS (4-3-3): Wojciech Szczesny; Joao Cancelo, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Rodrigo Bentancur, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi; Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo.
SUBS: Medhi Benatia, Douglas Costa, Andrea Barzagli, Juan Cuadrado, Moise Kean, Mattia Perin, Daniele Rugani.
VALENCIA (4-4-2): Neto; Daniel Wass, Gabriel Paulista, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya; Francis Coquelin, Daniel Parejo, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Goncalo Guedes; Rodrigo Moreno, Santi Mina.
SUBS: Jaume Domenech, Jeison Murillo, Carlos Soler, Kevin Gameiro, Toni Lato, Cristiano Piccini, Michy Batshuayi.
The players are out on the pitch so we should be underway shortly.
It's all square at the break at Allianz Stadium. Juventus have dominated possession, but Valencia came the closest to scoring when Mouctar Diakhaby's header was brilliantly saved by Wojciech Szczesny. The home side have been frustrated for most of the first half, with Joao Cancelo and Cristiano Ronaldo failing to test Neto with their efforts. The Spanish side had seen an attempt from Daniel Wass travel wide of the post before Diakhaby came so close to breaking the deadlock.
Massimiliano Allegri will have been concerned about his side's lack of potency. It's the second time in two games they've struggled for fluency at home in the Champions League. Allegri will want to see more from his team in the second half, while Marcelino on the other hand will be delighted. Look for Valencia to be a threat on the counter as the contest continues.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Juve are next in action in Serie A on Saturday on the road at Fiorentina as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table. Valencia take on Real Madrid in LaLiga in their next outing at the Bernabeu also on Saturday.
