Muriel goes tumbling over near halfway but doesn't get the decision. Fiorentina have been pinned back into their own half now and the Milan fans are back in full voice as the clock ticks down.
90' +2
Time is running out for Fiorentina to find anything, though mistakes from Milan's midfield are inviting them to encroach into the opposition half. Do they have anything left to give?
90'
We will have five minutes of injury time in this match.
88'
D. Laxalt enters the game and replaces F. Borini.
Milan make their last swap with Borini - who looks to have a blooded cut above his eye - replaced by Laxalt.
87'
The game grounds to a halt following an accidental clash of heads between Borini and Hugo in the box, with the former going to ground. There's no malice in it but it means that there must be a head injury assessment on-field.
85'
Five to go and Fiorentina are still throwing everything forward. What have they got left in the tank?
84'
C. Nørgaard enters the game and replaces B. Dabo.
Fiorentina make their last change with Dabo making way for Norgaard.
82'
There's under 10 minutes left on the clock – plus injury time – for Milan to see this out. They fail to take the win here and they're likely looking at a Europa League fate for next year.
81'
Samu Castillejo enters the game and replaces Suso.
Milan make their second change of the game, bringing on Castillejo for Suso.

Description
80'
Cutrone! The substitute sends a low effort from the right lip of the penalty area wide at the left post by a matter of inches following a counter attack.
78'
G. Donnarumma gets yellow.
Donnarumma is handed a booking for time-wasting as he looks to eat up the seconds following a collection.
74'
P. Cutrone enters the game and replaces K. Piątek.
D. Vlahović enters the game and replaces E. Fernandes.
Fiorentina make their second change now with Vlahovic on for Fernandes.
Milan meanwhile make their first swap and introduce Cutrone in place of Piatek.
73'
Kessie! It wouldn't have stood if he'd found the net due to Suso being offside in the build-up but the midfielder skies a great chance over the crossbar from the right of the box.
70'
The free-kick is eventually taken but reaps no rewards for Milan. They still have a one-goal lead with less than a quarter of the game to go though and that brief pause looks to have made Fiorentina realise just how much energy they have expanded in this half.
69'
Gerson enters the game and replaces V. Laurini.
Fiorentina make their first change with Laurini exiting the game and Gerson taking his place.
67'
V. Laurini gets yellow.
Laurini concedes a free-kick right on the left edge of the Milan box after a clumsy tackle on Borini. That's foolish in a place like this – and the defender has hurt himself in the process too. That doesn't stop him getting a yellow card either.
65'
Suso comes flying into the Fiorentina box looking to snatch a second goal for the visitors but Lafont is quick to the danger. This game is starting to tip back towards an even keel after the control exerted by the home side in this second half so far.
63'
Romagnoli clears away another dangerous ball before Kessie almost puts a clearance into his own box as Fiorentina press again. The hosts have a corner, but they can't make anything of it.
61'
Piatek wants a penalty for contact from Milenkovic in the box as Milan now launch an attack. He gets nothing and rightfully so, simply throwing himself to the ground in replays.
59'
What on earth did Vincenzo Montella tell his side in that dressing room? Just how good were those orange slices? There' playing some remarkable attacking football right now, almost as if a burden has been lifted. They've got a sense of adventure about them.
57'
Fiorentina come again and this time Muriel drags an effort wide to the right. There's a definite spring in the step of both the hosts and the crowd.
56'
Mirallas goes down that right flank again and tips a ball in for Muriel. The striker can't get onto it but nor do Milan clear it away quickly, with a few nervy seconds ensuring before they push it downfield and away from danger.
54'
Conversely, Milan are looking a little bit more unsure since the restart. Kessie puts a ball to nowhere in midfield and the visitors are forced to quickly mop up their own mistake.
52'
Chiesa! The Fiorentina turns on the left edge of the box and just tips a shot over the crossbar. The hosts are looking a lot more lively at the start of this second half.
46'
We're back underway for the second half of this Serie A clash. Have Fiorentina got something in their back pocket to pull this out of the bag?
45'
HALF-TIME: FIORENTINA 0-1 AC MILAN
44'
We're half a century on this month from when Fiorentina last won Serie A, with a victory away at Juventus in 1969. They could do with reaching back in time for some of that form, as opposed to the occasional flashes they're showing here.
42'
The crowd does briefly come alive for a moment as Chiesa whips another cross in off the left, only for Donnarumma to clamp onto it, safe as houses underneath.
41'
Save the chants of the away fans, you'd be forgiven for thinking that there might be some tumbleweeds skirting across Florence tonight. The home crowd haven't had much to cheer about in recent weeks, in all fairness
39'
A little scrap emerges between Mirallas and Bakayoko with the referee telling both to calm down. They escape with no further sanction and Milan have the free-kick inside their own half.
37'
That's the goal that, if it remains the only score of the game, will move Milan within a point of the Champions League places. It could be potentially priceless for their European dreams if other results fall their way.
35'
H. Çalhanoğlu has scored a goal for AC Milan! Assist by Suso.
Suso might have very well found the back of the net himself with that trajectory. It was certainly heading in the direction of goal before Calhanoglu nudged it in.
CALHANOGLU HANDS MILAN THE LEAD! 1-0! It's a glorious cross from Suso off the right edge and the midfielder rises to skim a feather-light head touch onto the ball to tuck it beyond Lafont at the left post. Wonderful stuff from the visitors.
34'
C. Biraghi gets yellow.
We have the first booking of the game as Biraghi bodychecks Suso inside the Milan half and is handed a yellow card for his troubles.
33'
Another rare foray for the hosts does now see Chiesa whistle a cross in off the left wing but the muscular Milan defence see it off without breaking a sweat.
32'
Milan have controlled over two-thirds of possession so far in this game and it is starting to show. When Fiorentina get the ball, they're looking relatively sluggish on the attack, allowing the visitors to pick their pockets.
30'
Kessie slips down the right flank and into the box – but despite having three men to cut back to, opts to whistle an effort himself into the side netting. A bit of a waste from the midfielder.
28'
There's been some moments of spark in attack from the hosts too, but they've been few and far between. It's not hard to see that Fiorentina are running low on self-belief right now. What a goal might do for them at any point in this game confidence-wise cannot be underestimated.
26'
Dabo whips away another Milan corner from danger and Fiorentina slowly work their way back to midfield. The visitors have shown some excellent counter-attacking so far tonight.
23'
That felt like the first big sitter of the game. Suso will be kicking himself all night unless he finds himself with a better opportunity. He should have tucked that away into the back of the box.
20'
Down the other end, Milan win themselves a corner out on the right and play it short. Suso effectively dribbles it into the box, with little reward, and Fiorentina pump it away downfield.
18'
Biraghi picks up a free-kick in the centre-left channel, 30 yards out or so. Muriel takes – and puts it somewhere into orbit on the other side of Florence. That was a shocker of an effort.
16'
Piatek makes a poor first touch cutting onto a lovely ball into the box and loses control right in front of Lafont, leaving the keeper with an easy stop.
14'
Suso plays a throughball between two defenders to find Borini, but the latter's no-look square pass fizzles off into empty space where Hugo pounces on it.
12'
Piatek nudges a low effort off the outside of his boot towards goal from outside the box. It takes a deflection off Milenkovic, yet the referee awards a goal-kick instead.
9'
A long ball drafted downfield to Piatek almost finds the attacker in the box and the Fiorentina defence scurries to clear. They concede a throw and the striker almost nudges the subsequent header in at the left post.
7'
Milan will be desperate – particularly after their early elimination in the Europa League – to seal football in the Champions League next season. They're in something of a silverware drought right now, having last picked up a trophy when Fiorentina man Montella was at the helm in 2016.
4'
Both teams are feeling each other's defensive structures out in these early exchanges. Suso concedes a handball in the opposition half and the hosts are handed the free-kick.
2'
Bakayoko wins an early free-kick inside his own half and helps push an early Milan attack forward. It comes to naught however and Fiorentina are left untroubled.
1'
We are underway in this Serie A clash between Fiorentina and AC Milan!
Gennaro Gattuso's side remain in the hunt for a top four berth and a place in next season's Champions League as it stands, with three games to go – but they will need to ensure that they take away maximum points from their trip to Florence.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the 2018-19 Serie A campaign as AC Milan make the journey south to face Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Subs: Patrick Cutrone, Antonio Donnarumma, Jose Reina, Andrea Bertolacci, Samu Castillejo, Lucas Biglia, Diego Laxalt, Jose Mauri, Andrea Conti, Cristian Zapata.
Subs: Giovanni Simeone, Dusan Vlahovic, Georgios Antzoulas, Pietro Terracciano, Gerson, Federico Ceccherini, David Hancko, Christian Norgaard, Federico Brancolini.
FIORENTINA (4-3-3): Alban Lafont; Vincent Laurini, Nikola Milenkovic, Vitor Hugo, Cristiano Biraghi; Marco Benassi, Edimilson Fernandes, Bryan Dabo; Federico Chiesa, Luis Muriel, Kevin Mirallas.
Milan have picked up only one point in their last four away league games and have conceded at least once in each of their last seven matches on the road.
Fiorentina are yet to win at home in Serie A in 2019, having drawn six and lost two. Indeed, the Viola haven’t scored a goal in their last three league matches in their own back yard.
Fiorentina captain Federico Chiesa has been directly involved in three of their last four goals against Milan in Serie A, netting one and assisting two.
Former Rossoneri boss Vincenzo Montella however will be determined to take a piece out of his old side, particularly with the chance to complete a domestic double on the line following their 1-0 win at San Siro in December - though they are without a win in their last 11 league games.
The teams have emerged at the Stadio Artemio Franchi ahead of kick-off.
If you were Vincenzo Montella, how would you encourage your players in the dressing room right now? There are few glimpses here and there, mostly thanks to their captain, that they could deliver an equaliser – but they seem just as likely to concede two more. It's a bit of a dilemma for the hosts.
Gennaro Gattuso will be happy with the result if perhaps not as enthused with his side's more lax showing after the break – but for him, cutting the gap to those Champions League places was the objective. On that basis, he's taken another giant step, and will now hope for results to fall favourably for him.
They're still without a win in a dozen games, but Vincenzo Montella can take heart from that performance after half-time, with his side showing their mettle and skill, even without a breakthrough. They've got two games left this season and they will hope now they can finish on a high.
Both teams will be back in action next week then when Milan return home to host Frosinone and Fiorentina travel to Parma. Until then however, thank you for joining us – and have a great weekend!
