Grealish gets the game underway for Aston Villa!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Premier League meeting between Tottenham and Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!
Villa are back in the top-flight after three years in the Championship. They finished fifth last season but overcame West Brom in the play-off semi-finals before holding off Derby County in the final to win 2-1 and get promoted. Dean Smith has brought in a lot of new faces to help his side prepare for the Premier League in the hopes of staying up. First up for them is last season's Champions League finalists. Spurs have been tipped to push Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table this season after adding to their squad during the transfer window.
TOTTENHAM STARTING XI (4-3-3): Hugo Lloris; Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose; Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele; Erik Lamela, Harry Kane, Lucas Moura.
TOTTENHAM SUBS: Paulo Gazzaniga, Victor Wanyama, Christian Eriksen, Oliver Skipp, Eric Dier, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Serge Aurier.
ASTON VILLA STARTING XI (4-2-3-1): Tom Heaton; Ahmed El Mohamady, Tyrone Mings, Bjorn Engels, Neil Taylor; John McGinn, Conor Hourihane; Trezeguet, Jack Grealish, Anwar El Ghazi; Wesley.
ASTON VILLA SUBS: Jed Steer, Jonathan Kodija, Jota, Douglas Luiz, Matt Targett, Henri Lansbury, Ezri Konsa Ngoyo.
The teams are out on the field now, with kick-off just moments away.
Smith will be impressed with how his side have played in the first half. They've sat back and defended well but have also taken their chances to go forward and have caused Spurs some real problems. As for Spurs, they've created some very good opportunities in front of goal, but for large parts of the game have struggled to get in behind Villa. They've looked out of ideas at times and could benefit from someone like Eriksen being brought on in the second half.
That's all for today, goodbye!
Pochettino's side were made to work hard for the three points today as they join the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City in earning a first-game three points. For large parts of the match they looked devoid of ideas, though, and they will need to improve before they face City next weekend. There are a lot of positives for Villa to take from this performance as they now look forward to their game against Bournemouth.
