Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with a victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium last week. A brace from Sergio Aguero along with a strike from Raheem Sterling was enough to secure the win, despite a fine effort from Harry Wilson. Pep Guardiola's men dropped two points in their first home match of the season against Tottenham and will be looking to get their opening win of the term at the Etihad this afternoon
Brighton suffered their first defeat of the season last week at the hands of Southampton. The Seagulls were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Florin Andone was dismissed for a reckless challenge. Lewis Dunk had a goal disallowed before the Saints upped the ante in the second half to snatch the three points at the Amex Stadium through strikes from Moussa Djenepo and Nathan Redmond. Brighton bounced back in the EFL Cup during the week by beating Bristol Rovers, but Graham Potter and his team face a huge challenge to avoid a second-straight loss in the top flight.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3): Ederson; Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, Aymeric Laporte, Oleksandr Zinchenko; Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, David Silva; Riyad Mahrez, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling.
MANCHESTER CITY SUBS: Claudio Bravo, Ilkay Gundogan, Angelino, Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho, Joao Cancelo, Phil Foden.
BRIGHTON (3-4-3): Mat Ryan; Adam Webster, Lewis Dunk, Dan Burn; Martin Montoya, Dale Stephens, Davy Propper, Bernardo; Leandro Trossard, Neal Maupay, Solly March.
Manchester City have won their last five games against Brighton in all competitions, winning all four league games in the previous two seasons and an FA Cup semi-final in April 2019.
Leandro Trossard has continued his bright start to his Premier League career. He almost brought the Seagulls back into the game, only to see his half-volley saved by Ederson. He has been lively and looks to be Brighton's best hope of a goal this afternoon.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Domestic football takes a break for international matches, so the Premier League does not return for another two weeks. When the top flight resumes, City are away at Norwich City, while Brighton are at home against Burnley.
