The hosts are in no real hurry to get the ball forward. We are into the second of three added-on minutes in Lisbon.
90' +1
That strike from Guedes has added a bit of gloss to the scoreline. Portugal are deserving of their victory but Luxembourg have given a good account of themselves.
90'
Rúben Neves enters the game and replaces João Moutinho.
Moutinho is replaced by Neves as we enter the first of three added-on minutes.
89'
Gonçalo Guedes has scored a goal for Portugal!
GOOOOOAAALLLLL!!! PORTUGAL 3-0 LUXEMBOURG! The visitors are unable to clear the corner and Guedes, only on the field for 10 minutes or so, fires the ball past Moris with the help of a deflection off a Luxembourg player in front of goal.
88'
S. Bensi enters the game and replaces V. Thill.
João Mário enters the game and replaces João Félix.
Joao Felix is replaced by Joao Mario for the final couple of minutes. The departing player has had a pretty quiet second half.
Vincent Thill is off and Bensi on in Luxembourg's third and final change.
87'
Ronaldo has had nine shots in this Euro 2020 qualifier - six more than the next highest, team-mate Fernandes. Four of those have been on target and one has ended in the back of the net.
86'
CHANCE FOR RONALDO! Ronaldo chipped the ball over Moris for his goal a little earlier, but he cannot quite get enough lift on this latest attempt. The Luxembourg goalkeeper is quick off his line and does enough to put off the superstar forward.
84'
Luxembourg are enjoying their best spell of the match as they keep hold of the ball and knock it around in the final third. That is mainly because Portugal are allowing them to do so, though, knowing the onus is on the visitors to score the next goal.
82'
Rodrigues shows good strength to carry the ball to the edge of the opposition box. It is played to Carlson on the left but the delivery is poor and Portugal clear their lines.
Minute
Description
81'
Pass, pass, pass from Portugal, but little penetration. The ball does eventually drop to the feet of Joao Felix inside the box, but his shot is too central and Moris is equal to it, though it would not have counted anyway as he handled the ball.
79'
Like in the first half, the tempo of the match has dropped towards the end of the second period. Portugal know it is very much job done as we approach the final 10 minutes.
77'
Gonçalo Guedes enters the game and replaces Bernardo Silva.
Silva, who has put in a good shift today, is replaced by Guedes for the final 13 minutes.
75'
There's carnage in the box as a couple of Portugal players, including Ronaldo, go to the ground. Silva tries to keep the attack alive but his cutback is blocked. Replays show there was definitely a little bit of contact on Ronaldo - it should have been a penalty.
73'
Silva chests down Fernandes' throughball and does well under pressure to fire in a shot, which Moris is equal to. It looks as though the hosts are about to make their first change.
71'
G. Rodrigues gets yellow.
Rodrigues is cautioned, seeminglly for something he said to the referee.
70'
Da Mota hooks his foot around the legs of Silva in attempt to win back the ball. He makes contact with the Portugal forward but, in the view of the referee, also gets enough of the ball to avoid a penalty being awarded.
69'
Sinani's effort is pretty poor, ending high in the stands. Luxembourg had a couple of half-decent opportunities in the first half which they failed to take. That aside it's been all Portugal.
67'
Luxembourg boss Holtz will be furious that, having held out for so long, his side conceded the second goal through an individual error at the back. Credit to Ronaldo for punishing them, though - and do not bet against him getting that milestone 700th goal in Lisbon before full-time.
65'
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Portugal!
GOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!! PORTUGAL 2-0 LUXEMBOURG! Ronaldo moves to within one goal of his 700th in senior football! Luxembourg are far too sloppy in possession and Ronaldo capitalises by pouncing on a loose pass, closing in on goal and lifting the ball over a stranded Moris. That is a superb finish!
64'
Santos' men are up to 17 shots for the contest, with seven of those on target. Guerreiro wriggles away from his man but the low cross is gathered by Moris - he should have floated it in.
63'
Semedo is the latest Portugal player to have a go from a long way out. Once again, it is a simple one for Moris. Ronaldo is unhappy that Semedo did not attempt to cross it.
61'
Ronaldo is getting away a shot at every opportunity now, this latest one being blocked just outside the box. Portugal are up to 66 per cent possession overall and have racked just short of 500 passes.
59'
D. da Mota enters the game and replaces D. Turpel.
Turpel is replaced by Da Mota as the visitors, seriously under the cosh now, make their second change of the match.
58'
Luxembourg are focusing on the counter-attack. Portugal have been guilty of a few sloppy passes over the past few minutes and they have to be careful. Rodrigues has a sight of goal but miscues his shot wide of the target.
56'
ANOTHER SAVE! Chanot gets a small touch to the cross, taking it away from Ronaldo's path. Fernandes then has another crack as Portugal throw everything at their opponents, with Moris happy to parry the ball to safety.
54'
Portugal are building momentum in the early stages of the second half and you sense a second goal is about to arrive. Silva brings the ball inside from the right but he is greeted by a wall of white shirts.
50'
SAVE! Fernandes crosses the ball into the box and Chanot hooks it into the air. Portugal then probe down the opposite flank and the ball falls nicely for Fernandes to strike. His shot has plenty of sting but Moris keeps it out at the second attempt.
48'
Semedo is left in some pain by Carlson's challenge but is soon back to his feet. Portugal have injected some pace into their play, seemingly keen to kill off the match as soon as possible.
46'
D. Sinani enters the game and replaces F. Bohnert.
Luxembourg have made a change for the start of the second half - Sinani is on for Bohnert.
RESTART! The visitors get us back under way at Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: PORTUGAL 1-0 LUXEMBOURG
45'
Portugal are having to remain patient in search of their second goal. They have not created much of anything over the last 15 minutes, while Luxembourg have had one or two promising moments. It has not quite been the one-sided affair many predicted.
43'
Danilo shows good strength to hold off two opponents. Bohnert is left with little choice but to foul the Portugal midfielder, who has attempted 45 passes in the first half - only three players have managed more.
41'
Semedo is positioning himself high up the pitch, almost like a fourth forward. Luxembourg are struggling to get out of their own half, but a 1-0 deficit at half-time is likely something boss Luc Holtz would have accepted before the match.
39'
Vincent Thill nutmegs Moutinho and the Portugal midfielder obstructs his opponent's path, giving away a free-kick in the process. The hosts could do with a second goal - until they score it this match is very much alive.
37'
Ronaldo has had three shots so far, one of those on target. It is down the right, where Semedo and Silva are operating, that Portugal are looking at their brightest.
36'
PATRICIO MAKES THE SAVE! Luxembourg work the ball forward in a patient manner and there is an end product, too, as Vincent Thill gets a shot away. Patricio makes a straightforward stop, though that is another warning for the reigning European champions.
34'
Silva nearly picks out Semedo with a disguised pass down the right, but it is a little heavy and rolls out of play. Portugal are getting plenty of joy down their right-hand side.
32'
The home side are mixing things up by playing some diagonal passes. A corner is won and worked short to Guerreiro, whose cross is easily dealt with by Moris.
29'
Fernandes, no stranger to finding the net, has a pop at goal from a long way out. He gets the contact all wrong and what could have been a promising opportunity goes begging.
27'
SIDE-NETTING! From pretty much out of nowhere, Vincent Thill gives Portugal a real scare. He turns one defender inside out and gets a decent shot away, which Patricio appears to get a fingertip to at his near post. Not in the view of the referee, though - a goal-kick is awarded.
25'
Portugal win a free-kick a good 35 yards from goal. The distance was never going to put Ronaldo off, but the attempt is well off target.
24'
RONALDO SHOT SAVED! Right on cue, Ronaldo bursts forward and, after a nice bit of footwork, gets a shot on target at the near post. Moris stands firm to keep out the Juventus forward's first attempt of the match.
22'
Portugal have had 76 per cent of the ball in the opening quarter of the match. They have managed a couple of shots on target, one of them providing us with the opening goal of the match. Surprisingly, though, Ronaldo has yet to become involved in the contest.
20'
Moutinho has a go from range but the attempt is blocked. Portugal are closing in on a second goal here, and it would not exactly be undeserved.
18'
Luxembourg respond well to the setback by getting the ball forward for the first time today and winning a corner through Fernandes' clearance, though it comes to little.
16'
Bernardo Silva has scored a goal for Portugal!
GOOOOOAAAALLLL!!!! PORTUGAL 1-0 LUXEMBOURG! Semedo is played in behind down the right and, despite a poor touch, he just about gets to the ball ahead of Moris. It ricochets into the path of Silva, who sets himself and fires into an unguarded net to open the scoring.
13'
SAVE! Joao Felix has his first sight of goal. The Atletico Madrid man brings the ball forward but drags his long-range shot and Moris has a comfortable first save to make.
11'
There is no real change to the flow of the game, with Portugal continuing to dominate possession. Luxembourg are happy to sit back and soak it up - the question being just how long they can hold on.
9'
L. Barreiro gets yellow.
Martins catches Danilo on the Achilles and is rightly cautioned. That was a nasty one.
8'
Portugal are playing some nice one-touch football. Semedo is getting involved down the right but Portugal have not really created much of anything just yet - plenty of time for that to change, of course.
7'
Gerson definitely had a little pull on Ronaldo's shoulder in that penalty shout a minute or so ago - it could easily have been a spot-kick. Luxembourg are struggling to settle.
6'
PENALTY SHOUTS! Silva goes down in the box and feels that contact was made on him by Jans. The referee Daniel Stefanski is having none of it. Moments later, Ronaldo is also told to get up.
4'
Moris flaps at a cross but Luxembourg just about deal with the danger. Portugal, as expected, are on top right from the off here.
3'
CLOSE! With just over two minutes on the clock, Ronaldo works some space for himself and gets a powerful shot away from 20 yards. The ball is always rising and Moris is happy to see it sail over the crossbar.
1'
KICK-OFF! Portugal, in need of victory to keep pace with group leaders Ukraine, get us up and running in Lisbon!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this Euro 2020 qualifier between Portugal and Luxembourg!
Defending champions Portugal have taken eight points from their four matches in Group B thus far and trail Ukraine by five points - albeit the leaders have played a game more.
Few would bet against Nations League winners Portugal taking three points here in Lisbon and Fernando Santos will no doubt be looking for his side to put on a show in front of home supporters this evening.
PORTUGAL (4-3-3): Rui Patricio; Nelson Semedo, Ruben Dias, Pepe, Raphael Guerreiro; Joao Moutinho, Danilo Pereira, Bruno Fernandes; Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Cristiano Ronaldo.
SUBS: Ruben Semedo, Ricardo Pereira, Jose Sa, Ruben Neves, Andre Gomes, Goncalo Guedes, Bruma, Pizzi, Joao Mario, Beto, Andre Silva, Jose Fonte.

Santos will not exactly be delighted with his side's first-half showing. They may have found a way through, but they only managed a further couple of attempts on target and Luxembourg had a couple of good opportunities, both of which fell to Vincent Thill. The hosts have a number of options to call upon from the bench should they wish, including the likes of Guedes and Andre Silva.
Portugal remain second in Group B, five points behind leaders Ukraine, who they face in Kiev on Monday. As for Luxembourg, they have four points from six matches and face Denmark in a friendly in their next outing four days from now.
Thanks for joining our coverage today. See you again soon!
