The fourth official indicates two additional minutes at the end of the match.
88'
Play is momentarily stopped as a coming together between Hermoso and Garcia leaves the Athletic player on the ground in some pain.
84'
Koke wraps his foot around the free-kick, looking for a team-mate at the far post - but his delivery goes straight out for a goal-kick.
83'
Unai Simón gets yellow.
Simon is shown a yellow card for a slide tackle outside the penalty area as Costa had been played through into the Athletic half all alone following a corner. The goalkeeper has taken one for the team but given Atleti a set-piece near his own goal.
81'
Athletic have 10 minutes to score twice and earn something from the match, though that appears highly unlikely. Despite using his substitutions to help his side attack, Garitano has seen precious little improvement as the match wears on.
79'
De Marcos enters the game and replaces Capa.
Capa will play no further part as De Marcos is his replacement at full-back.
77'
Vitolo enters the game and replaces T. Lemar.
Lemar is replaced by Vitolo in Atleti’s final change of the match.
75'
Athletic continue to attack despite Martinez dropping to the floor after taking Lemar’s forearm to his cheek. The centre-back is allowed to finally get checked after a lacklustre cross from the left wing curls around the goal and out for Oblak to collect.
72'
Raúl García gets yellow.
Garcia is booked for some pushing and shoving inside the penalty area while waiting for his team-mate to take the corner.
Minute
Description
69'
Berchiche sprints down the left looking to put in a cross for Muniain, but Trippier closes him down expertly and pushes it out for a corner.
67'
Aduriz enters the game and replaces I. Williams.
Diego Costa enters the game and replaces Álvaro Morata.
Morata is replaced by Diego Costa after putting his side up 2-0.
Athletic respond with their own change as Williams is replaced by Aduriz.
66'
H. Herrera enters the game and replaces Á. Correa.
Its two changes at once as Herrera is brought on in place of Correa in a defensive move.
64'
Álvaro Morata has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Á. Correa.
Correa’s second assist of the evening doubles Atleti’s lead with just over 20 minutes remaining.
ATLETI MAKE IT 2-0! It’s as simple as you’d like as Correa picks possession up inside the penalty area and drives towards the near post, before squaring it to the back stick for Morata to tap into the open net!
62'
Garcia swings an early cross into the penalty area but only Williams was waiting on the spot for Athletic, as Oblak comes in front of the striker to make an easy catch.
58'
As we approach the hour, it appears Athletic have no answers as they switch from left to right looking for a weak spot in the low block. None appear forthcoming as Garitano’s side struggle to earn parity.
56'
Ibai Gómez enters the game and replaces Iñigo Córdoba.
Athletic’s first change sees Cordoba replaced by Ibai Gomez.
54'
Lemar gets another shot at a corner and it’s much better as he finds Morata at the far post. The striker sends his effort narrowly wide, but immediately claims that it took a touch off a defender on its way out. The referee disagrees and gives Athletic the goal-kick.
52'
Garitano looks on from the touchline with a frustrated glare, as his side have been thoroughly stifled. It’s hard work facing Atleti at the Wanda Metropolitano, and it also requires someone to pick the lock of Simeone’s defence. Muniain has been trying all match, but to little effect with Saul marking him at every turn.
50'
Lemar’s corner is taken low, and it fails to beat the first man. It’s a really poor take from a player who has not yet found his footing in this match.
48'
A long, sweeping pass from midfield is hit towards Williams, but Hermoso takes it down with a lovely touch and keeps possession for his side.
46'
Atleti get the second half underway from the kick-off!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: ATLETICO MADRID 0-0 ATHLETIC CLUB
44'
Á. Correa gets yellow.
Correa is shown Atleti’s second yellow in two minutes for a sliding challenge in midfield, right in front of the referee.
43'
The free-kick is floated into the penalty area, but its central position makes it an awkward take - and easy for Oblak to catch.
42'
Saúl gets yellow.
Saul is shown a yellow card for bringing Muniain down cynically - not for the first time.
38'
Athletic have the ball in midfield but nowhere to go as Atleti retain their rigid shape. A switch from left to right and back again ends when Thomas steps in and wins possession back for his side - although only momentarily.
34'
Correa waits for an aerial ball to come down for him just on the edge of the penalty area, and turns the defender expertly as he sprints towards goal. Simon takes up a great angle and manages to foil the striker, saving his shot rather comfortably.
32'
Atleti have the goal they’ve been wanting, and they’ll be more than happy to sit back at home and encourage the opposition to attack. With the pace of Correa and Lemar on the pitch, the possibility of a second from the counter is never out of the question.
30'
Muniain goes down in the Atleti penalty area under the weight of a Saul challenge, but the referee deems that the diminutive forward was going down anyways - which is somewhat questionable upon review.
28'
Saúl has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Á. Correa.
Correa looked to be passing as he had the ball poked off his foot - and he's given the benefit of the doubt with an assist.
ATLETICO HAVE THE BREAKTHROUGH! Correa gets into the penalty area on the end of a wonderful Saul chip and gets past a defender with shifty footwork. Before he can pull the ball back to a team-mate, a defender pokes it off his foot - fortunately sending it directly to Saul, who finishes the move with an emphatic strike!
26'
Lodi takes the throw and quickly re-enters play, receiving a pass and teeing himself up for a shot from distance with his right foot. It gets to the near post, but with enough time to allow Simon to get there first.
25'
Trippier pushes it forward down the right for Correa, but the striker slips upon entering the penalty area. After a bit of a scramble in the penalty area - including a potential penalty for a tackle from Nunez on Morata - Saul just blasts it towards goal, sending it way over.
23'
Garcia whips a cross towards the far post for Williams - who was running onto the ball and looking to volley it home. Hermoso saves the day with a wonderful diving header to push it out of harm's way and keep the scores level.
20'
Atletico look to attack down the right but Lodi doesn’t get there in time as Berchiche wins possession and foils another undercooked Atleti attack.
18'
Trippier gets forward as Atleti push on, but his deep cross is blocked immediately by the attentive Berchiche. The corner is taken into the penalty area and looks to be dangerous as Simon misses the punch, though his defence gets it clear.
14'
Berchiche goes charging towards the byline looking to keep the ball in play, but a slight lean by Trippier pressures the opposing full-back and sends him sliding into the advertising board. It isn’t enough pressure to warrant a penalty, however, as the referee tells Oblak to resume play from a goal-kick.
12'
Athletic have a free-kick of their own but it’s well outside the Atleti penalty area. It’s floated in by Berchiche towards the left post, but the attempted cushioned header is cleared well by Thomas.
10'
Atleti have a great opportunity to strike at goal from a free-kick just outside the penalty area, but Trippier’s take rockets directly into the wall and away from the penalty area.
8'
Lemar remains down inside the Athletic penalty area after a clash with Martinez, but the referee doesn’t look to give a penalty. The centre-back raised his boot to make a clearing tackle, but also caught the Atleti winger in a very sensitive area.
6'
A long ball is launched forward from right-back, as Correa looks to charge onto it but the centre-back comes across well to poke it just out of reach.
4'
It’s been a slow start for Atleti, who are looking to settle into the match after having their goalkeeper save them in the opening moments. Much of the match today will be played in midfield as the two sides fight for territory and possession - with perhaps a sole counter-attack to prove decisive.

Athletic get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the LaLiga fixture between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao!
Though they only sit three points behind leaders Barcelona, Diego Simeone will be disappointed with his side’s start to the campaign, with Atleti drawing four of their opening nine fixtures. Scoring seems to be their flaw despite spending in the transfer window, with an injury to Joao Felix not helping matters. It’s a battle of the two lowest scorers in the top-half of the table, with Atletico and Athletic managing eight goals each.
Athletic have had an up and down start to 2019, with three victories and four draws bringing them to eighth place, tied with both Getafe and Valencia. A win today would see them end Saturday tied for fifth position, though Atletico’s defence will trouble the Athletic forwards to no end. With a quarter of their goals coming from Raul Garcia penalties, it will be hard to envision this contest as anything other than a defensive struggle.
ATHLETIC SUBS: Iago Herrerin, Oscar De Marcos, Aritz Aduriz, Gaizka Larrazabal, Ibai Gomez, Yeray Alvarez, Mikel San Jose.
ATLETICO SUBS: Antonio Adan, Diego Costa, Hector Herrera, Santiago Arias, Marcos Llorente, Vitolo, Rodrigo Riquelme.
ATLETICO XI 4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Renan Lodi, Mario Hermoso, Felipe, Kieran Trippier; Thomas Lemar, Saul, Thomas Partey, Koke; Alvaro Morata, Angel Correa.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let's take a look at how the two sides will be lining up today, starting with the hosts!
Athletic must press forward and search for an equaliser, while simultaneously preventing Correa and Lemar from getting in-behind the defence. A draw at the Metropolitano is not a bad result, and manager Gaizka Garitano has options from the bench to change the match, including veteran goal-scorer Aduriz. From Simeone’s point of view, he’ll certainly be happy with a 1-0, especially considering he is without Joao Felix.
That concludes our coverage of the LaLiga fixture between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club! We hope you enjoyed it!
Atleti are next in action against Alaves on Tuesday, while Athletic Club host Espanyol on Wednesday.
