Salah gets the Club World Cup final underway for Liverpool!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Club World Cup final between Liverpool and Flamengo at the Khalifa International Stadium!
Liverpool left it late in their semi-final match against Monterrey as Roberto Firmino came off the bench to score in stoppage time and secure their place in the final as they go in search of their second trophy this season. As for Flamengo, they started slowly against Al-Hilal but came back from 1-0 down to win 3-1. They made club history by reaching the final in their first appearance at the Club World Cup and are looking for their fourth piece of silverware this season.
LIVERPOOL STARTING XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.
LIVERPOOL SUBS: Neco Williams, Harvey Elliott, Ki-Jana Hoever, Sepp van den Berg, Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri, Curtis Jones, James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adrian, Adam Lallana, Andy Lonergan.
FLAMENGO STARTING XI (4-2-3-1): Diego Alves; Rafinha, Rodrigo Caio, Pablo Mari, Filipe Luis; Willian Arao, Gerson; Everton Ribeiro, Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique; Gabriel Barbosa.
FLAMENGO SUBS: Reinier, Orlando Berrio, Rodinei, Cesar, Gabriel Batista, Vitinho, Lincoln, Robert Piris da Motta, Diego, Rene, Thuler, Rhodolfo.
The teams are out on the field now, with kick-off just moments away.
Jesus is probably the happier of the two managers at the break as his side created more chances in the first half. He'll be hoping they can keep up that pressure when they go back out onto the field and be more clinical to get on the scoresheet. As for Klopp, he'll be pleased with how his team started, but they struggled to keep possession as the half went on and he'll want to see a much better performance in the second half, especially in front of goal.
So, the Club World Cup final is going to extra-time as both teams failed to find a breakthrough in 90 minutes. They both created some good chances in the second half, but Liverpool will feel like they had the best chance to win it. Mane was brought down in the box in stoppage time and the referee originally awarded a penalty, but after a long VAR check, it was judged that the contact wasn't in the box and that the tackle had been fair, so they didn't even win a free-kick.
There's finally a breakthrough and Liverpool have the lead. The Reds were on the attack from the start of extra-time, and it was a wonderful forward pass from Henderson that got them in on goal. It looked like the chance was gone after Mane had his back to goal, but he turned to pick out Firmino who kept his cool to get past Caio and find the back of the empty net.
That's all for today, goodbye!
Liverpool have won their second trophy of the season, adding to their Super Cup win over Chelsea in September. The fixtures continue to pile up for them though as their attention now turns to their league game against Leicester City on Thursday. This was Flamengo's last match in a very long season, but they couldn't finish it off with their fourth piece of silverware despite holding on until extra-time.
