We're underway at Vicarage Road.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Watford and Southampton at Vicarage Road.
Watford face a huge game this afternoon in their bid survival against the Saints. Nigel Pearson's men are one point clear of the drop zone in 16th place, but could take a serious step towards securing their Premier League status with a win. They played out a 1-1 draw in their first match after the restart against Leicester City, but were beaten 1-0 last time out by Burnley. The pressure is on the Hornets to respond.
WATFORD (4-2-3-1): Ben Foster; Kiko Femenia, Craig Dawson, Craig Cathcart, Adam Masina; Will Hughes, Etienne Capoue; Ismaila Sarr, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Roberto Pereyra; Troy Deeney.
WATFORD SUBS: Heurelho Gomes, Adrian Mariappa, Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck, Adalberto Penaranda, Joao Pedro, Jose Holebas, Christian Kabasele, Ignacio Pussetto.
SOUTHAMPTON (4-4-2): Alex McCarthy; Kyle Walker-Peters, Jan Bednarek, Jannik Vestergaard, Ryan Bertrand; William Smallbone, James Ward-Prowse, Oriol Romeu, Nathan Redmond; Danny Ings, Shane Long.
SOUTHAMPTON SUBS: Che Adams, Stuart Armstrong, Michael Obafemi, Angus Gunn, Jake Vokins, Kevin Danso, Yan Valery, Nathan Tella, Alexandre Jankewitz.
Southampton are more or less safe on 37 points, but will want to cross the 40-point threshold to feel secure of their position. The Saints were defeated 2-0 by Arsenal last time out on home soil, but did record a comfortable win over Norwich in their first match in June. Ralph Hasenhuttl will not want to see his side's season peter out, despite sitting in a place of relative safety.
Nigel Pearson will be concerned at the break by his side's lack of potency in the final third. The home side have offered nothing going forward and have failed to provide Troy Deeney with any service. It will have to change for them to get back into the contest.
Watford are next in action against Chelsea on the road next Saturday. Southampton return to St Mary's Stadium to host Manchester City next Sunday.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
