Penalty goal scored by Mohamed Salah for Liverpool!
GOAL! Salah wraps it up from the spot, 2-0 to Liverpool. He hammers the penalty into the bottom-right corner, and the goalkeeper goes the other way.
90' +1
Paulinho gets yellow.
Paulinho is booked for bringing Salah down in the area. It looks as though he trod on the back of his heel.
89'
Mane carries the ball into the area but runs into Scholz. Robertson was supporting him on the underlap but looked as though he might have gotten in the way a little in the end.
88'
Alexander-Arnold gets into space down the right and clips the ball into the area, but Scholz is there to clear once again.
87'
The long balls forward for Midtjylland just aren't sticking so far.
85'
Into the final five. Time for some late drama?
83'
Seven minutes to play now, Midtjylland are looking more direct - but Liverpool have their front three back together. Any slip at the back, and you'd back them to punish it.
81'
B. Kraev enters the game and replaces J. Cajuste.
Roberto Firmino enters the game and replaces Diogo Jota.
L. Pfeiffer enters the game and replaces S. Kaba.
It's the goalscorer Jota who goes off, with Firmino coming on.
Changes in the offing for Midtjylland too. Kraev replaces Cajuste.
And now Pfeiffer comes on for Kaba. The two substitutes have both gone straight into attack.
80'
Salah comes inside from the right and goes for goal from range, but his left-footed effort flies well over.
Minute
Description
79'
It looks as though Firmino is getting ready to come on as well. Shaqiri or Jota to go off?
76'
The additions of Salah and Mane haven't really improved proceedings. A 1-0 win is just fine for Liverpool, but you'd like to see them go for it a bit given the apparent gulf in class.
74'
Midtjylland are showing a bit more endeavour now. Shaqiri gives the ball away to Evander midway inside the Liverpool half and the substitute goes for goal from the edge of the area, but he miscues his effort high and wide.
72'
Evander enters the game and replaces P. Sisto.
Sisto is off, replaced by Evander.
70'
Mane's attempted pass in behind for Shaqiri fizzes straight through to Andersen.
66'
M. Anderson enters the game and replaces A. Mabil.
Mabil's night is over. He's replaced by Mikael Anderson, who comes on alongside Mikkel Andersen and Joel Andersson.
65'
Paulinho crosses from deep on the left and Andersson arrives out of nowhere at the far side of the area. He tries to hit it on the half-volley but gets it badly wrong and it spins behind.
64'
Midtjylland haven't really shown anything going forwards in the second half, other than that one occasion when Dreyer got in down the right. Have they got a comeback in them?
62'
Paulinho misses an interception and Salah looks to be in behind, but the left-back does really well to get back and make a tackle as the sub cut back onto his left foot.
61'
Mohamed Salah enters the game and replaces T. Minamino.
60'
S. Mané enters the game and replaces D. Origi.
Here come the cavalry. Salah comes on for Origi.
And now Mane replaces Minamino.
59'
Things are going downhill for the visitors now. Despite Liverpool taking the lead, Salah and Mane are looking ready to come on.
55'
Diogo Jota has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by T. Alexander-Arnold.
GOAL! Liverpool lead 1-0, Jota gets the goal! It's a lovely move from the hosts. Wijnaldum spreads the play to Alexander-Arnold on the right. He cuts inside past Mabil, plays a neat one-two with Shaqiri and squares the ball to give Jota a tap-in at the far post.
Alexander-Arnold has been Liverpool's most dangerous player tonight, and he has an assist to his name. A great run, one-two and a simple final pass.
53'
Scholz meets the corner but he heads straight at Alisson. Salah, Mane and Firmino are all warming up on the touchline.
52'
Dreyer gets in behind down the right from Andersson's ball down the line. He lifts in a decent-looking cross towards the far post, but Kaba doesn't read it and it's put behind for a corner.
51'
Alexander-Arnold crosses from the right, but it's a straightforward catch for Andersen.
50'
Jota takes matters into his own hands, breaking past a couple of defenders down the left before Scholz sticks a foot in. The ball eventually breaks to Origi, but Cajuste tackles him well at the edge of the area.
49'
Scholz puts Paulinho under pressure with a loose header at the back, and the left-back is quickly pressed by Minamino and Origi. He takes a whack on the top of the foot as he hoofs the ball away, but he's fine to continue.
46'
G. Wijnaldum enters the game and replaces J. Henderson.
45' +2
HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 0-0 MIDTJYLLAND
45' +1
Two minutes of stoppage time.
45'
We're nearly at half-time, which is good news.
We're back up and running for the second half.
A change at the break for Liverpool, Wijnaldum replacing Henderson.
43'
Origi is flagged offside after latching onto a long ball over the top from Alexander-Arnold.
41'
J. Milner gets yellow.
Milner is booked for cynically hauling down Sisto as the visitors looked to launch a counter-attack. They had a two-on-two on the halfway line.
40'
Shaqiri slips Milner in at the right sode of the area, and Sviatchenko does well to get a boot in the way of his shot. Corner.
38'
Jota meets the corner with his right boot but the ball seems to catch him by surprise, and he can only side-foot it tamely behind.
37'
Robertson gets into space at the left side of the area and looks to fizz a low cross along the line of the six-yard box, but Andersson gets in the way.
34'
It has all been a bit low-key so far. Apart from that early chance which Dreyer should have scored, Liverpool are doing enough to keep Midtjylland at arm's length without ever really putting any moves of their own together.
32'
J. Cajuste gets yellow.
Cajuste gets Midtjylland's third yellow card of the half for a late challenge on Henderson, just outside the Liverpool area. The visitors are pressing hard and snapping into tackles but it could easily cost them if they end up a man down.
30'
R. Williams enters the game and replaces Fabinho.
The 19-year-old Williams comes on for Fabinho, who can't continue. Looks like it might be a hamstring issue, though he was able to walk off without assistance.
27'
Minamino almost steals in behind as he takes a nice first touch from Henderson's pass, but Sviatchenko gets between him and the ball as it runs behind to the goalkeeper.
25'
F. Onyeka gets yellow.
Onyeka is booked for a clumsy tackle from behind on Origi.
23'
Alexander-Arnold does really well as he dribbles into the area from the right, getting between five defenders. He looks to pick out Minamino with a deft outside-of-the-foot pass, but Sviatchenko cuts it out and clears.
22'
Both teams have been guilty of some pretty sloppy passing so far tonight. Cajuste side-foots the ball straight out of play inside his own half, but Liverpool don't take the opportunity to spring an attack.
20'
Alexander-Arnold chips the ball in behind from the resulting free kick, which is in a central position. He tries to pick out the run of Henderson towards the left post, but he overhits the set-piece.
19'
A. Scholz gets yellow.
Scholz is shown the first yellow card of the match for fouling Jota as he looked to get in behind.
17'
Kaba is working really hard to press the Liverpool back line when they have possession. They're having to hurry their build-up play, and aren't looking all that comfortable on the ball after some recent wobbles.
15'
Alexander-Arnold puts in a good low cross from the right, but it bounces awkwardly and Minamino can't get a touch as he twists to turn it goalward. Andersson puts it behind to deny Shaqiri, who was lurking at the back post for a tap-in, but the corner is cleared.
13'
Alexander-Arnold delivers another free-kick from the right. It's a flatter delivery this time, aimed towards the right corner of the six-yard box, but Scholz dives to head clear.
11'
Alexander-Arnold whips in a free-kick from by the right touchline. He shapes it nicely onto the penalty spot, but it's headed clear.
10'
It hasn't been a fluent start from Liverpool. Gomez looks to pick out Jota with a crossfield ball from left to right, but he gets it wrong and the ball flies into the stand.
9'
Paulinho cuts onto his right foot from the left and crosses towards Kaba, but Gomez gets ahead of him and makes a firm headed clearance.
7'
The visitors win a free-kick on the right, just beyond the corner of the penalty area. Sisto looks to pick out Scholz with a disguised low pass around the wall, but he overhits it and it fizzes through to Alisson at his near post.
6'
Midtjylland have started well enough here. They aren't looking to be negative depsite taking a battering last time out.
4'
The corner from the Midtjylland left is cleared away.
2'
Liverpool start positively, working space for Alexander-Arnold to cross from the right. He lifts the ball in with the outside of his right boot, but it's a simple catch for goalkeeper Andersen.
