Juventus get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the Serie A fixture between Parma and Juventus!
Parma sit a comfortable five points off the relegation zone after 12 matches - thanks in part to a run of four Serie A matches without defeat (with two clean sheets in that time). Though they’ve only been able to manage a goal per game in attack, Fabio Liverani’s side have proved to be a tough outfit at the other end - allowing just 19 goals (better than anyone but Udinese in the bottom half).
Juventus travel to the Ennio Tardini looking for the three points which would take them level with second-place Inter - just one back of leaders Milan - ahead of tomorrow’s action. The Bianconeri have gone 12 matches unbeaten in the league while maintaining their reputation as the best defence in Serie A (10 conceded in 12 games), though they’ve been unable to keep a clean sheet since the middle of November.
JUVENTUS SUBS: Wojciech Szczesny, Carlo Pinsoglio, Juan Cuadrado, Radu Dragusin, Gianluca Frabotta, Federico Chiesa, Adrien Rabiot, Federico Bernardeschi, Manolo Portanova, Cosimo Marco Da Graca.
JUVENTUS XI (4-4-2): Gianluigi Buffon; Alex Sandro, Leonardo Bonucci, Matthijs De Ligt, Danilo; Aaron Ramsey, Rodrigo Bentancur, Weston McKennie, Dejan Kulusevski; Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Morata.
PARMA XI (3-5-2): Luigi Sepe; Yordan Osorio, Bruno Alves, Simone Iacoponi; Riccardo Gagliolo, Jasmin Kurtic, Hernani, Simon Sohm, Juraj Kucka; Gervinho, Andreas Cornelius.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let’s take a look at how the two sides will be lining up - starting with the hosts!
If Parma are to make their presence felt in this match, set-pieces are their best avenue of attack. Cornelius’ tall and strong frame can easily nick the hosts something from a corner or free-kick, though that’s only possible if Gervinho is allowed to get on the ball and drive towards goal. Juventus have little to change going forward except perhaps some tired legs as they will look to shut down the match and hold the three points they have.
That concludes our commentary of the Serie A fixture between Parma and Juventus! We hope you enjoyed it!
Parma are back in action again on Tuesday when they travel to face Crotone, while Juventus host Fiorentina on the same day.
