We're under way at Wembley.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Community Shield contest between Leicester City and Manchester City at Wembley.
On their last appearance at Wembley, Leicester City recorded their FA Cup triumph over Chelsea, defeating the Blues 1-0 courtesy of Youri Tielemans' strike. Brendan Rodgers' men were outstanding on the day to lift the trophy for the first time. They can now make a statement at the start of the new campaign by recording another Wembley over a top-tier outfit in the form of City. It would send out a strong message that the Foxes are here to compete for all major honours this term.
City were beaten by Chelsea in their last competitive match, suffering a 1-0 defeat to the Blues in the Champions League final. Pep Guardiola and his team won the Premier League with relative ease, but the loss would have irked the Spaniard, who has yet to win the European crown in his tenure. City have bolstered their ranks with the £100m signing of Jack Grealish, and he could make an appearance off the bench today as Guardiola aims to kickstart the campaign with a win.
LEICESTER CITY (3-4-3): Kasper Schmeichel; Wilfred Ndidi, Caglar Soyuncu, Daniel Amartey; Ricardo Pereira, James Maddison, Youri Tielemans, Ryan Bertrand; Ayoze Perez, Jamie Vardy, Harvey Barnes.
LEICESTER CITY SUBS: Marc Albrighton, Danny Ward, Kelechi Iheanacho, Filip Benkovic, Hamza Choudhury, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Patson Daka, Luke Thomas, Boubakary Soumare.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3): Zack Steffen; Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Benjamin Mendy; Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho, Cole Palmer; Riyad Mahrez, Ferran Torres, Samuel Edozie.
MANCHESTER CITY SUBS: Jack Grealish, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Scott Carson, Philippe Sandler, Tommy Doyle, Claudio Gomes, Yan Couto, Ben Knight.
City have been a tad underwhelming outside of two efforts from distance from Ilkay Gundogan. Although they're without a number of key players, Guardiola will want to see a lot more from his team in the second period.
Leicester kick off their Premier League campaign next Saturday against Wolves at the King Power Stadium. City are also at home in their opener as they begin the defence of their crown against Tottenham on August 15.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
